You can't domesticate ferals

It doesn't work on an individual level and it doesn't work any better on a societal level. This couple's lethal experience is an apt metaphor for the cataclysmic error of Western societies:
A 23-year-old homeless man who was taken in by a woman and given a job by her husband has been charged with attacking and killing her and her 13-year-old son at their family home.  Former ballroom dancer Tracey Wilkinson, 50, was pronounced dead inside her £440,000 detached property in Stourbridge, West Midlands, while her company director husband Peter, 47, was found in the garden with stab wounds to his chest and back.

He is continuing to fight for his life and is understood to be in a critical but stable condition in hospital. The couple's teenage son Pierce died in hospital. It has since been claimed that the alleged killer may have been given a home by the family just before Christmas and was also offered a job at Mr Wilkinson's firm. Friends suggested the Wilkinsons had been taking in 'down and outs' and police say they are probing the claims as a 'line of questioning'.

This afternoon Aaron Barley, of no fixed address, was charged with murder and attempted murder.
There is a reason the Good Samaritan put up the injured traveler at an inn. He didn't take him home or adopt him.

On the plus side, no doubt the couple felt very good about themselves right up until the time their feral pet started stabbing them. I have zero sympathy for people like this. They were so intent on doing "good" that they failed in their primary duty as parents, which is to protect their children from the world.

Hypothetical here, Vox. If the family had paid the man's rent at an apartment complex, given him the job at the husband's firm, and then the man still did this act, would you still feel the family was unwise?

I ask because my family has, over many years, taken in strays and given them a place to live until they're back on their feet (although the latest at my mom's house is going on twenty years and is in his late seventies). The main difference is that we've not done this while there are children living in the house.

Not necessarily, depending upon the man's history. Look, I don't even pick up hitchhikers if I have a child in the car. Because the hitchhiker is not my responsibility. My children are.

How well did you know these strays? I am guessing your family worked at a volunteer organization and likely had multiple contacts with these people and knew their back stories before they took them in. It sounds like these people pretty much took people in off the street on first contact. I could be wrong but that is what the story sounds like. Also, having kids present is a huge mistake. Homeless people are homeless for more reasons than simply being poor in the west. The west has church organizations, and state organization, and welfare and programs on top of programs to keep people off the street. You have to be mentally unstable, an addict, or severly mentally handicapped to be homeless.

No connections to volunteer agencies, but you're spot-on that we'd been acquainted with the needy folks for quite some time (i.e., years), and we'd also always done some asking-around to people who knew them well.

Am not sure you're right about the ubiquity of aid organizations. I'd always thought this was the case, too, but through my church I've learned that there really isn't much government help in my state. Makes me wonder where all the money goes that we pay in state taxes...

People are breathtakingly stupid about homelessness. It's a never-ending source of wonder. What a wonderful, warm and fuzzy world the do-gooders live in. A fearless world with super simple solutions to complicated problems.

We had a friend, devoted to AA who'd take in guys fresh out of rehab who would otherwise "have nowhere else to go." People marveled at his philanthropy, although a few were concerned. I wondered about the motivations of a middle-aged gay man taking in vulnerable young men, but that's just me "thinking 'negative' about everything" --typical of an officially Horrible Person who is probably a card-carrying Nazi.

Last year one of the rehab pets shot the friend in the face. He died without dignity in his underwear. The guy said he'd made a pass.

Everybody was shocked, "Wow, who would have expected something like that?"

I had greeted a new allied health guy onto the night shift the first time I encountered him and he asked if I heard about him taking in 2 homeless women. I said "it must be a crazy story because I had one staying with me for a bit". He starts telling me about how he picked up 2 hookers, let them stay with him in a 1 bedroom apartment & how they tried to shake him down for more money by coming into the hospital claiming he raped them, before he was transferred to night shift. In my case my landlord asked me if the widowed retired schoolteacher that lived across the street from me could stay in the spare bedroom until an insurance adjuster could check out the remains of her house. Guess what kept him from being fired despite telling security they were hookers trying to shake him down for more money? Luckily he ended up moving to Nevada after I told him it was legal out there and you might as well be somewhere that accepts you.

As with everything else, Social Justice Samaritanism works much better in the movies.

Homeless people are homeless for more reasons than simply being poor in the west.

We give free houses to Somalis that need to be taught how to use a toilet. Many homeless who are not allowed in homeless shelters because of past behavior spend their nights sleeping in inner city ERs that can't turn them away. Its sad that homeless shelters have more rights than ERs.

One theory is that liberals have underdeveloped amygdalas. Their malfunctioning amygdalas don't allow them to filter out bad feelings the way normal people can. If they see something that makes them feel guilty or scared or angry, they're physically incapable of just ignoring it and moving on. This explains their emotional incontinence and their tendency to be 'triggered'. Another side effect of an underdeveloped amygdala is the inability to recognize danger.

In short, liberals are brain damaged. They virtue signal because it makes them feel good and they're physically unable to comprehend the fact that their virtue signaling puts them in harm's way.

Shades of the Elizabeth Smart case. Charity that assumes complete strangers with blaringly severe problems are just normal people down on their luck is bound to failure. That people invite the vagabonds to their homes and around their children is a special kind of idiocy that I just don't understand. Many homeless in the states are on sex offender lists on top of having drugs addictions and psychological instability. They're the cute and cuddly pit bulls that snap and kill their owner who just rescued them from the no kill shelter. Portland now wants to pay home owners to let homeless people live in tiny houses, provided by the city, in their back yards for a couple years. The reward is the home owner then gets to keep the tiny house once the vagabond moves on up to a new home. This is a series of darwin awards waiting to happen. A special kind of stupid indeed.

Even before learning the lessons of the Alt-West, I had a contempt for the feminization of young boys and teenagers by literally all the churches in my area. The constant term is "sensitive," as though it's a virtue. Some of these boys seem just passive, but others get in on the brownie points for virtue signaling at an early age.

My insurance agent was going on about how sensitive (sniff, sniff) all the wonderful kids were at his church, and I just said, "I think courage is far more important these days for children, and especially boys."

He just stopped dead, and turned speechless for half a minute, then changed the subject (which is what I wanted, as I didn't want to hear that crap).

In the city where I used to live there were several shelters right by downtown. But many, especially the religious based ones had rules. For example you might have to sit through a sermon, you would have to be sober. and you couldn't have drugs or alcohol on the premises. So basically when I saw homeless out on the streets after dark when I was leaving work I assumed there was something off about them.

A lot of these people (who aren't mentally ill or drug addicts) are there because they refuse to follow societies rules at all. They think they are too good for things like "you have to go to work and earn money to support yourself". Basically Gamma Attitude taken to an unfunctional level. They simply refuse to do anything they don't want and when others or society won't bend to their liking, they end up on the street.

Yeah, people who are homeless often really don't fit in. Help them where they are, for who they are, don't try to force them to be an upper middle class puke like you.

Because ultimately, didn't these people's actions require the one they aided to become exactly who they thought he ought to be, instead of who he was? I can tell you from the POV of the neuro-atypical, this is a whole fucktonne more offensive and angering than most whitebread norms think it is.

Do they think we haven't tried? Do they think we haven't tried for love, and failed and lost, prayed to God, and been turned away? And now they think they can bring more obligation, more pain, to bear, than EVERYTHING WE'VE EVER LOST? That THEY can compel the transformation that our parents, our lost loves, our dreams, and every God we can call upon, could not?

The relational violence is clear: they believe that everything that we are is of so little import that a stranger in a suit can remake it all, that no love we have felt could be more core to our being than the gratitude a stray dog owes for a can of Pal and a blanket.

Blogger wreckage April 01, 2017 12:16 AM

Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ 25 On its return, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. 26 Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they go in and dwell there. And the final plight of that man is worse than the first.”

This is why the religious right's fall from the seat of supreme cultural arbiter of the right and the FCC was not a COMPLETELY terrible thing, but instead something of a mixed blessing. Definitely more of a curse though, as the left replaced them... but on the plus side their small and nascent victory has created an overconfidence which has made them feel bold enough to reveal their true colors. Which and much of America has now born witness to and appropriately reacted with revulsion and anger.

I imagine these parents have sternly warned their children against petting a stray dog or getting into a stranger's car, but they haul home any old gutter trash and think it "kindness". Carless idiots dying tootally avoidable deaths.

But I'm sure housing "refugees" from the scummiest shitholes on Earth will turn out totally different. They're Just Like Us, after all, and ... oh wait.

I can't help but think of that kind Norwegian leftist who took a middle eastern immigrant into his home, was raped by said immigrant, and then was worried that the immigrant might be sent back to his hellhole of a country.

"Hopefully, sometime in the future they're going to discover that SJW's have misfiring neurons in their brains causing them to prioritise virtue signalling over safety of oneself and one's kin. They can thereafter be treated as mentally disabled and removed of any responsibilities or positions of power and influence."

It's already known that liberals on average have smaller, less-functional amygldalae (a part of the brain that assesses danger, among other things).

From perhaps the best discussion of r/K Theory vs. politics: http://www.anonymousconservative.com/blog/the-theory/rk-selection-theory/

"As we show, there is copious evidence that a genetic allele, which diminishes dopamine signaling, is associated with every facet of the r-strategy’s psychology, as well as a predisposition towards political Liberalism.

In addition, the r-strategy may have evolved to be engendered within individuals by environmental stimuli as well, through a desensitization to the neurotransmitter dopamine. This effect arises from its copious release in such an environment down-regulating receptor expression and consequently reducing receptor densities in nervous tissue. We also maintain that a lack of adversity in the environment will fail to develop a drive or ability to confront adversity, through a failure to develop a brain structure called the amygdala. In summary, an organism placed in an environment devoid of adversity, and filled with pleasure, may find itself more demanding of pleasure and less tolerant of adversity, than an organism which is enured to a less hospitable environment."

"On the plus side, no doubt the couple felt very good about themselves right up until the time their feral pet started stabbing them. I have zero sympathy for people like this. They were so intent on doing "good" that they failed in their primary duty as parents, which is to protect their children from the world."

This.

Does it never occur to these people that one of the circumstances possibly giving rise to Mister Homeless's situation is not that he's a victim of 'Western capitalist society and its inevitable cold and heartless indifference', but that he's dangerously psychotic and unable to function?

The parental duty resonates most with me too. It was for this reason that I refused my first child's enrollment in a vaccine trial (many years ago now) shortly after she was born.

Quite apart from the fact that I thought the trial was fundamentally flawed (since when do you test a vaccine anywhere other than the specific environment in which it is intended to be used; but one of the concerns I had with this trial and not the most serious), I was her guardian, and until such time as she was able to make these decisions on her own, I could not knowingly place her in a position of risk under any circumstances.

Post script: I later read that infants enrolled in this trial had suffered serious complications, some requiring hospitalisation. It came as absolutely no surprise.

OT, I know, but as per the news outlets, Jean Claude Junker threatens to back up Ohio seceding from the USA. Are any residences of the state feel threatened by those news?

@26 "People are breathtakingly stupid about homelessness. It's a never-ending source of wonder. What a wonderful, warm and fuzzy world the do-gooders live in. A fearless world with super simple solutions to complicated problems."

I believe the problem is too much empathy -- they don't even SEE the actual homeless guy, they can only imagine themselves AS the homeless guy, and try to be the mommy-and-daddy who would pick them up (as if they were) and console them for being 'homeless' and cold... THEY would feel grateful to be rescued and, therefore, so would "they" in the body of the homeless (crazy or addicted -- or just violent) guy.

I found this (complete blindness to reality) in my own family: I call the younger sister a hothouse flower: (all three of us grew up as hothouse flowers in middle-class Whiteopia). She went to music college through her MA and is now a (union) musician in a big-city symphony -- allllll the Die-versity she knows are at the tippy-top of the cream of the racial crop (and almost entirely asian, not NAMs). Her son went to private schools, at great cost (thus, almost no NAMs). SHE thinks I'm partly evil and mostly brainwashed to suggest there are BAD people out there; and she uncomfortable that I go armed everywhere.

The older one is a vegetarian Ghandian pacifist (a disease she caught from the NAM husband) who actually said she would take a bullet for her (both religious and SJW) beliefs -- and horrifyingly -- would let her then-10-yr-old SON take a bullet for her beliefs!

However, it seems possible to 'recover' some (blind idiots). The Navy was it for me: exposure to "actual" NAMs and culturally mismatching foreigners created so much cognitive dissonance that I had to reconsider what I had been taught. Full "recovery" takes a long time and up-close-and-personal unbrainwashing. (My husband called it "taming his feral female" ... and so it was.)

If you have someone you care about and wish to save, it IS possible. Long hard work, but do-able.

Courage is the foundation of all virtue. Absent courage, the attempted practice of other virtues will lead to evil doing, slavery, and (as in this case) death. Don't be cucked!

The post-wall skank who married a beta provider.

The beta provider who "manned up" and married the cc rider.

The beta provider who was OK with bringing another man into his house to cuck him.

Only thing missing is a photo of the perp so we can see whether or not he's a google.

"He even gave us the "The syrian immigrants are escaping violence. Jesus was also an immigrant escaping violence".

Such a target-rich environment.

a) the 'Syrian immigrants' are mostly not Syrian;
b) they are not immigrants, they are allegedly refugees (unless you want to call them 'stealth immigrants' which is what they really are) and as such, have an entirely different legal status, or are supposed to;
c) not being Syrians, they are not even refugees, but welfare tourists;
d) Jesus was never an immigrant. Ever.
e) if you want to call the Flight into Egypt 'escaping violence', it is worth noting that the Holy Family WENT HOME.

What's that old saying about 'not even wrong'?

@80 "..too much empathy -- they don't even SEE the actual homeless guy..."

That's...there's something to that. Normally you don't associate empathy with narcissism but narcissists do have a thing where they don't really SEE people as actual unique souls with personal wants, needs, desires, thoughts, quirks and so on. Rather, they project their ideas of who a person is onto the 2D paper-doll object in front of them. I'm probably not explaining it very well but it's a weird thing. I have a narc sister and she likes me and says great things about me but it's not me. The person she describes is a person she invented. It's EXTREMELY DE-HUMANIZING, even when it's nice.

It's like this with a lot of SJWs. They appear to be empathetic people doing good...but there's always something proud and presumptuous about it.
