Alt-Hero: Global Justice Initiative

Just a little taste of what we're working on for the Alt-Hero project. This is going to be a graphic novel project of bigger scope than most people are probably anticipating; the story infrastructure has to be large enough to support a wide range and variety of storylines and I have no interest in simply retelling lame versions of Marvel and DC stories. Alt-Hero is going to be as influenced by The Incredibles and, to a lesser extent, Sandman, as it is by Batman and the Justice League of America.

The most important mainstream superhero organization is the Global Justice Initiative, which is divided into EU and US divisions. Capitán Europa is the leader of the Initiative, which reports directly to the European Commission, while the US division is led by Dr. Ladarius Nano, PhD, a brilliant African-American scientist. Dynamique is a French member of the Initiative, who is a Parisian fashion model by day, and who is frequently getting in trouble for being caught smoking cigarettes by the paparazzi.

Besides fighting crime, racism, smoking, and nationalism, the main job of the Global Justice Initiative is to hunt down rogue superheroes who refuse to use their powers for the common good, at least as it is defined by the European Commission and the United Nations. One of the Initiative's ongoing concerns is to put an end to the Vigilant Front, a ragtag collection of politically problematic vigilantes linked to the suspiciously long-lived Prophet.

If VD will allow me to inject a personal request into this thread, I would ask for some serious prayers on my behalf. Being hit with a very weighty issue over the next few days. Outcome of it will be extremely life altering.

On the positive side, as many are prone to do in challenging times, it has drawn me closer again to God than I had been in many years.

Appreciation for anyone who would pray on my behalf.

This is a great premise. I was never that into comics (sorry, graphic novels), although I had friends in the 80s who were (one girl even worked in a comic book shop), and remember things like The Dark Knight and Flaming Carrot (and read both). I would certainly expend money on at least one volume to check it out.

The number of projects you are working on is impressive. I hope you resume the Periscopes.

What kills so many stories that want to be serialized is that they've not really been thought through past the original Treatment. Something with long-term planning is how we get our Epics.

Granted, there's a tad bit of WANTED already starting to take shape, but that seems a given for the deep-cut approach being taken.

Blogger Shimshon April 18, 2017 5:32 AM

Will the GJI be media whores? They could have their own branding and endorsements inside the story (and even a comic book authored by a Scalzi-like character).

Blogger Al From Bay Shore April 18, 2017 5:37 AM

You placed a Black person named "Ladarius" on the side of the collectivists. Not sure of why you did this but names like that are seen as ghetto by thoughtful Black folks and, therefore, looked down on. Black folks with those types of names are the ones who are destroying our communities and neighborhoods. I look forward to additional villains named "Sharquasia", "Jayquan", and "Trayvonn". I'm definitely waiting for the first printing. As I said on earlier related post, I'll purchase one to collect and another to trade.

Blogger VD April 18, 2017 5:52 AM

What formats are planned?

Inexpensive digital, probably $4.99 for 64 pages. Softcover and hardcover at 320 pages. We'll do a crowdfunding for the first one in about two months, which will include everything from a subscription to the first five digital PDFs to t-shirts and the ability to co-design a character.

What we're doing now is putting the pieces together for the crowdfunding campaign. We have rather more than this, I'm just keeping those who are interested informed.

We're still looking for two more good comics artists.

Blogger Stilicho April 18, 2017 5:52 AM

Mark Millar's Jupiter's Legacy is basically about a family that, years ago, received superpowers. The family went on to do what they do. Fast forward to today and the family has grown and envy of the weaker brother leads him to convince the main hero's son to help with a coup.

The story then shows how the remaining superheroes and villains (those who refuse to bow before the usurper) try and remove the traitors. Also note that the current gen has become lazy, self-indulgent from having things handed to them in life.

Blogger Lovekraft April 18, 2017 6:02 AM

Smoking, of all things?

I love this project beyond all words. But smoking seems like a stupendously trivial thing to foreground, as any kind of issue for either side.

Of all of the thousands of things that SJWs go after, smoking seems the least worthy of breaking a lance for. Being "pro-smoking" is certainly not part of any kind of Alt-Right identity I've encountered.

(Not to mention that it's frankly disgusting, and the world is, and a much-desired nationalist world would be, far off without it.)

The attack on smoking was the first front that we let collapse to the lifestyle policeman. The same people who want you to do the dirty with whatever deny you the peace some good tobacco can offer you.

I quit alcohol because I should not drink. I do not slap beers out of people's hands because I quit alcohol. I quit smoking cigarettes because the fun police have literally slapped them out of my hand as well as figuratively. Read Proverbs 31. Don't snatch people's comfort out of their hands.

Dynamique is clearly going to turn against the Global Justice Initiative because they won't let her enjoy 5 to 10 minutes to herself, with people prattling on about how she's killing herself.

There's evidence that it wards off TB, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and lung cancer too, in addition to the nootropic effect. This is why 9 out of 10 doctors recommend Camel cigarettes.

As for the figure of the girl in the picture, I love the fact that she has the visible secondary-sex characteristic of an actual feminine, female body.

Selecting androgynously emaciated, hipless, bustless beings to be representatives of womanhood in fashion, and in the media in general, has ever been driven by:

(a) the fact that the fashion industry is controlled by men who aren't attracted to women (to put it euphemistically), and

(b) the agenda of promoting the fiction that gender is a "social construct" and not a biological actuality, which is much easier to pretend in the absence of the aforementioned secondary-sex characteristics.

Or to put it more simply, I really like the look.

I love this project beyond all words. But smoking seems like a stupendously trivial thing to foreground, as any kind of issue for either side.

Every decision made by any member of society could affect the whole. Because people persist in making bad choices, micromanagement of people's lives is a feature of the Global Justice Initiative. The list of bad things that GJI is opposed to is long, and always growing. Everyone will recycle more, for justice. No one will smoke, for justice. Alcohol will be limited, for justice. Etc.

So yes, smoking and other stupendously trivial things are always an issue for the GJI. No personal choice is too small for the GJI to inspect and correct.

Independence Day is proof of the rhetorical power of tobacco.
I've always like that movie. I originally just liked the pro-family, pro-America plot.
It wasn't until 20 years after I saw that movie that I really understood the point was "American Jews in Southern California want the Whites they hate and are jealous of and the Blacks they fear to save them from the Mexican invasion".

"You are a social justice warrior in training."

No. But I'm not a libertarian. Like many in the Alt-Right, I do believe in restricting some things in society. The libertarian idea of don't-restrict-anything leads inevitably to the degeneracy that we have in society today.

Like many in the Alt-Right, I AM in favor of restricting porn, restricting degenerate art, restricting a Soros university (Orban has that right), etc. etc.

The history of Western culture, when it was good, was a long legacy of restricting things. The restricting is what made it great. What ruined society is not that, suddenly, things started getting restricted. (They always were.) It's just that the WRONG things started getting restricted and the wrong things permitted.

The Alt-Right (at least, no small part of it) does believe in some level of chaperoning of society. It's just a matter of determining WHAT specifically to chaperone.

And I would certainly include restricting smoking in the right things to restrict in the nationalist-populist states which so many of us want to see fashioned.

You can smoke to your heart's content at home. But not cloud railway cars, restaurants, and every other public space that I want to (indeed, that I sometimes have no choice but to) inhabit with your smoke.

Your eating or drinking whatever you want doesn't impact me; not in any way that I care about. But your smoking turns big parts of the world basically into Mordor, in just as rotten a way as the prevalent obscenity in society does today. And both should be stopped. The nationalist-populist state is better off without both.

Mommy wants to tell people what they can do. Look, sweetheart, go have a couple of kids. You can tell them what to do 24 hours a day until you're sick to death of it. It'll burn the impulse out of you.

Smoking ought not to be a social stigma. But on the same hand, smoke ought not to be shoved into the nose of everyone else.

Umm... Isn't that Sarah Hoyt (with some extra photoshopping)? Lol.

It's good though. Sarah needed more photoshopping.

I'm getting excited. Anyone else getting excited?

restricting pornography != restricting smoking.

It should be up to the business whether or not smoking is prohibited.

The desire to wield the government when you disagree with someone is leftist.

Look no further than the correlation. As smoking becomes more restricted, sexual immortality is less restricted.

It's not the activity, it's the associations. If the Silent and Greatest Generations had been non-smoking porn addicts, the situation would be entirely reversed. You'd have Purity Patrols checking women's hymens and mandatory smoking classes in grade school.

The only principle involved is control.

The only principle involved is control.

Not true. There is another principle, and that is "does it harm people unrelated to it?".

Your rights end where my nose begins, after all.

I mean, you *could* dump a bunch of poison in a river. I ought not to restrict your freedoms after all.

You should sell subscriptions for a weekly comic strip.

That whooshing sound? That's the point going past, evidently about 4 feet above your head.

hint: I wasn't talking about smoking.

hint: I wasn't talking about smoking.

I wasn't talking strictly about smoking either.

What I was arguing against was your logic, after all.

Are you going to create a website dedicated to this comic?

Anonymous Ray Maddon April 18, 2017 5:30 PM

Wow some people are never happy. This is great I look forward to the release of the full thing

Blogger cheddarman April 18, 2017 5:40 PM

Far be it from me to tell the ELoE how to write his comics, however, I would like to see some American rednecks and hillbillies, as well as european equivalents, maybe a ghost or two of former great men like Charles Martel or Jan Sobieski

On the positive side, as many are prone to do in challenging times, it has drawn me closer again to God than I had been in many years.

Appreciation for anyone who would pray on my behalf.

Prayers inbound!

Looking forward to seeing how the in-universe parsing of the lore and power sources work (if they are the same across the comics that is).

This is the best comic book series idea I've heard in years. How can I help fund it?

Vox already has you covered.

However, comic readers need not worry. Alt-Hero will certainly contain female superheroines such as Dynamique, Kosmik Girl, Vespra, and La Fille Furie. And they will be lethal superhumans who kick prodigious ass, they simply will not necessarily be able to match fists with the likes of Capitán Europa, the head of the European Commission's Global Justice Initiative, or Michael Martel, better known as Hammer.

I'll have to go with Lil' Dickey over Sir Mix-a-Lot

The thing people are thinking is fat is an illusion. It's the blue in the front that is causing it.

Looking forward to this

It's just not her best angle. The camera maybe a little higher, like on a selfie stick above her head, chin lifted up, décolletage prominent, thighs reduced via perspective...

And pot up the cannon blasts in the intro.

This is amazing. I hope she has two white super-babies in tow. Similar to Gohan and Goten in DBZ.

I once did some 3D modeling work for an elder that used to post over at Heartiste in a similar vein. I eventually wanted to turn said work into a video game. Something visceral, violent, and in the audiences face. Neanderthals vs Sapiens. Basically a game to trigger the left at their most basic level.

A Trump themed cultural video game would be great too. Imagine replacing the Burger King with Trump in Sneak King.

My daughter suffered from a terrible seizure for more than 9 years which started after she turned 7 we all thought it will end but got even worse as days went by. We tried all several treatments and therapy prescribed by various doctors we met but to no avail, she lost total concentration and screamed most times. She usually tells me she feel pain. This were steady pain that disrupted her entire life, even at night she screams even more because the seizure become painful because everywhere is quiet and she slept less because of this. I was able to contact Dr.lewishill. on the matter and his medicine was able to restore her back to normal and she is very okay now without any side effects whatsoever. If you have seizure, do not hesitate to contact him on drlewishill247@gmail.com for advice and for his product. I hope this helps someone out there.
