Who is Mike Cernovitch

The New York Times helpfully tells you how to think about its current bête noire:
Mr. Cernovich is a blogger, author of books, YouTube personality and filmmaker with a far-right social media following. Much of his online persona is driven by two mottos: “conflict is attention” and “attention is influence.”

He told The New Yorker, “I use trolling tactics to build my brand.”

Before this week, he was perhaps best known for promoting false claims that Hillary Clinton was part of a pedophile ring located in the basement of a pizzeria. He describes himself as an “American nationalist” and has been involved in shaping alt-right messages on social media, according to The New Yorker. But he has denied being part of the alt-right movement, calling it “too obsessed with gossip and drama for my tastes” in a blog post....

During his YouTube broadcast on Tuesday, Mr. Cernovich denied accusations from critics that he is a misogynist, a rape apologist or a white nationalist. He said his past statements had been taken out of context and called some of them “obvious satire” that had been misinterpreted in bad faith.

“Nobody tells you how to be famous,” he said.

Later, shortly before appearing on a talk show hosted by Alex Jones, another far-right conspiracy theorist, Mr. Cernovich said he did not care if the media portrayed him positively or not.

“Look at me,” he said, speaking into the camera. “I did this to Susan Rice. I did this to Hillary Clinton. I’m doing real journalism. I’m destroying your fake news outlets. Look at me. Look at my face. I’m the media now.”
I know I feel much better informed now that I have been given permission to hate hate hate the evil Mikhael Chernobylich, who is obviously a liar, a misogynist, a rape apologist, an alt-right white nationalist and a far-right conspiracy theorist who will be devastated by this thoughtful, informative article by a trustworthy news source.

I also like the way they grabbed images from YouTube rather than risk using an excessively flattering professional photo. See, this is why you don't talk to them. The fact that they couldn't get access to him just makes them look like anklebiters.

UPDATE: The would-be hit piece by the cucks at National Review is inadvertently hilarious.
The White House Should Not Be Promoting Mike Cernovich
The testosterone-obsessed conspiracist makes an unsavory social-media warrior for the White House.
Translation: We have neither balls nor spine and we will go down to noble defeat in only the most graceful and decorous manner. Please to permit us to surrender on your behalf.

Wow, the writer ended his piece with this gem:

“Look at me,” he said, speaking into the camera. “I did this to Susan Rice. I did this to Hillary Clinton. I’m doing real journalism. I’m destroying your fake news outlets. Look at me. Look at my face. I’m the media now.”

Did he serious use the Captain Philips meme quote unironically? Wow, talk about tone-deaf.

Also, I get the vibe we're going for "Russian and/or Jew" with Cernovich. They're having problems setting a narrative. Periscope + YouTube allows Cerno to counter-act a news cycle.

I don't read any net news source that doesn't allow comments. That is about preventing their narrative from being challenged.

"I don't read any net news source that doesn't allow comments. That is about preventing their narrative from being challenged."

This also applies to places that pre-moderate comments.
NYT does have comments on some articles where every single one is pre-moderated to manufacture the appearance of consensus.

Liam Stack was a Cairo-based correspondent to several publication (seems while he was attending a university in Cairo?), which means he's going to be Deep State attached. You don't get to be NYT foreign correspondent if the local CIA Controller isn't going to at least place news he/she wants disseminated with you.

Cerno should ask if he's ever been paid by the CIA to make up news. That should be hilarious to watch the result of.

From the article:

I picked up on this media technique back during the Clinton administration.

They'll say their target denies "allegations" of being racist, sexist, homophobe, wife beater, etc. They'll even use fake or anonymous sources to claim these "allegations."

As long as they can associate "allegations" of something against their target, whether the target denies it or not, they've done their job of marginalizing or destroying.

@11 Lazarus

Considering Cernovich is saying he has moles in all of the major media's newsrooms, I'm surprised it took that long. He's two more shiv-tastics Scoops from causing a massive mole hunt in their newsrooms. For people well-versed in destabilization campaigns, they're so far amazingly unconcerned about what's being played on them.

Granted, I'm starting to get an idea what some of the longer plays going on are, Cernovich's main goal really is to live, rent-free, in their minds. He's well on his way there.

In the reply, he denied that the White House Counsel’s Office had been the source for his blog post about Ms. Rice, even though it said as much in the second paragraph.

Apparently reading comprehension isn't this "journalists" strong suit. Just because it says the White House Council identified Susan Rice in an investigation doesn't mean that is who told Mike that the White House Council identified her.

In that exchange and subsequent public tweets that included screen shots of his direct-message replies, he also criticized The Times and some of its reporters by name, implied that the Mexican billionaire and Times shareholder Carlos Slim has a role in news coverage (he does not),

Well that settles it then, doesn't it?

and generally attacked the integrity of its journalists, living and dead, and its journalism, past, present and future.

And that UniParty thing tho'..... "moderates" and Loyalists in the First and Second Continental Congresses worked alongside one another to oppose the Radicals who were seeking secession from the mother country, Great Britain. Their efforts failed. The Declaration of Independence followed the Olive Branch Petition. The Articles of Confederation then followed the Declaration of Independence. The influential Loyalists had fled the new nation but the Moderates remained, bided their time, and succeeded in a soft coup in 1789.

@14 "Considering Cernovich is saying he has moles in all of the major media's newsrooms,"

When he said that, my eyebrows went up! Both because he "IDed" them as IT folks who see everything in the newsrooms (thus cutting down the pool of possible moles for the hysterical mole-hunters to look for) and because he was raising the paranoia by letting the newsrooms know they were 'hacked' and that he knew who was sitting on what stories as he released those stories! (Go Mike go!)

But I also thought: OOH! Brilliant stab! Now, the mole-hunters will be frantically looking at EVERYone around them wondering: "Is it him? Is it her? Do I DARE chat at the water cooler?" And, by IDing it as the IT folks, it may result in some IT folks losing their jobs (oops, sorry) but media is massively IT dependent, and losing (well, firing) their guys may be cutting off their feet before the final race!

Well played!

Cerno will always be more believable to me than CNN or the NYT because he IS his own brand. When major media lies and gets caught, they can always blame a flunky and claim "The network would never do what HE did. We have rules!" So they go on lying forever and their low information viewers continue to buy the narrative they're selling.

Mike may speculate and suggest all he wants based on the existing evidence, and he does. That's his prerogative as a journalist, even if it's seen by some as sensational and self-serving. But the moment he genuinely misrepresents something, his personal brand takes the hit. It's why he hasn't been caught lying yet, and he won't be. Even if he had no integrity at all, he's still smart enough to know faking the news would kill all the momentum he's built.

He hasn't done it and he won't.

So the rule is:

Don't talk to the media unless you can make them look more unfashionable than they will try to make you look.

Mass media doesn't actually transmit ideas, because the masses don't have ideas.

Therefore, the fashion media merely refers to ideas in order to transmit emotional valences about who's fashionable and who's not.

You wouldn't step onto a catwalk unless you were a handsome snappy dresser either, no matter how many books you read per year.

Cernovich agreed to 60 minutes when Wolf Blitzer flew out to him, and agreed to be filmed by Cernovich looking stupid. Now Cernovich is more fashionable than the man who wept Wolf.

This is the on-going campaign against Alt-Media perpetrated by the globalists. They were caught with their pants down with Brexit and the election of Trump. They might be reclaiming their footing via coordinating hit-pieces, deep-state actions against Trump, and using social media to ban, suspend, and demonitize.

I am of the belief that the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Assad regime is part of this coordination. The globalists have been pursuing world government since the turn of the 20th century and they may be of the belief that these times provide the greatest opportunity to bring their desires to fruition in spite of Brexit and Trump.

Could be.

The quote as it appeared on ZeroHedge:

"So where did I get the story? I didn't get it from the intelligence community. Everybody's trying to figure out where I got it from. I got it from somebody who works in one of those media companies. I have spies in every media organization. I got people in news rooms. I got it from a source within the news room who said 'Cernovich, they're sitting on this story, they're not going to run it, so you can run it'.

If you're at Bloomberg, I have people in there. If you're at the New York Times, I have people in there. LA Times, Washington Post, you name it, I have my people in there. I got IT people in every major news room in this country. The IT people see every email so that's how I knew it.
"

He claims both a source in the newsroom and an IT person. Maybe it's both, albeit from different organizations?

Or like I said, misdirection to throw off molehunters even more. Maybe it's None-Of-The-Above....
