#FireColbert

Let's face it, he's never been funny anyhow. But he did go too far and he should at least be suspended and fined by the FCC. And after that, a drone strike would probably be in order.
President Trump has, for months, been the target of Stephen Colbert’s pointed jokes and mockery. But many on social media believe the “Late Show” host went too far Monday night in making an oral-sex joke regarding Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. #FireColbert was trending on Twitter Wednesday morning. There’s a new Twitter account called @firecolbert. Its first tweet: “It’s time to #FireColbert! It’s time he be removed from CBS. Let your voice be heard! #Boycott all of Stephen Colbert’s advertisers.” There’s also a new website, firecolbert.com.

Well, it's Chicago Rules time for Colbert.
Everyone, don't forget to accuse him of "homophobia". Because reasons.

Those whom the God-Emperor would destroy he first makes mad.

Blogger Lazarus May 03, 2017 9:16 PM

Kobe Bryant got fined $100,000 for using a "homosexual slur" on a lowly NBA referee. It was not done on National TV. If a righty comedian said Obama's mouth was a cock holster for King Abdullah, Fox would fire him even if he did not work for them.

Nothing will happen to Colbert. But I am willing to be patient and wait for them all to come to their senses.

Never liked the smug Colbert at all. Don't care if he gets fired or not, but it is nice to see a leftist jerk get hoisted by his own libtard. But where were all these people during the leftist collective "teabagger" mantra towards the Tea Party?

Pair this up with a guy who I did used to like about 20 years gao in Jimmy Kimmell who used his own infant's new death to thump the liberal bible. Disgusting, and indicative of where his real priorities lay. The last thing on my mind when sweating out a few hours of a loved one's fighting for life would be partisan politics. yeah, it is a form of projecting on my part, but ffs, at least act like a normal human would.

Anonymous JAG May 03, 2017 9:38 PM

It's like "trust us, it was totes offensive and this person is a wrongthinker and should be unpersoned." When you Google it, all you get is more news stories about how offensive the remark was. Yet another example of the utter uselessness of the MSM.

Blogger kh123 May 03, 2017 10:01 PM

The posterchild for narcissism and dysfunctional amygdala. Or am I repeating myself on that one.

"Pair this up with a guy who I did used to like about 20 years gao in Jimmy Kimmell."

At some point the living in a pizza box undergrad phase passes. And then there's Jimmy Kimmell. The suit and tie bit comes across as a homeless shelter helping a down-and-out get his picture taken.

"Should read as "ago" instead of "gao""

Add an L to the end and it's a pretty good description of sitting through Colbert's act.

Blogger Cail Corishev May 03, 2017 10:03 PM

Oh and Colbert can drop the good Catholic family man act too.

My memory on this is hazy, but I seem to recall several years ago he was on some show where the host took some cheap shots at the Church, and he spoke up and defended it strongly. A lot of Catholics, even some conservatives, unused to anything but abuse from media figures, suddenly saw him as almost a hero, even fantasized that he was one of us behind enemy lines.

I never found Steven Colbert funny - he's a comedian?

Back in the day - way back in the day, in W's first term, before "The Colbert Report" when he was a mere "correspondent" for the Daily Show - he had one of the best comedic deadpans I've ever seen. Not just blank expression, either, but perfect comedic timing on it.

Sadly, he threw that away to for The Colbert Report. I'm sure it made him a ton more money, but it was far less interesting and deteriorated quickly into essentially zero actual humor.

Blogger Chicago Robb May 03, 2017 10:17 PM

Only way he gets fired is if advertisers start dropping off. You can have great ratings but if only the "Sham - Wow" will advertise on your show, Bye- Bye.

Blogger Sambuca Ford May 03, 2017 10:23 PM

Perhaps projecting images after too many meetings over pizza with the Podestas during sis's Senate campaign? The anti-O'Reilly schtick and Trump have given him quite a comfortable living without having funny anything.

(((John Stewart))) was good friends with pedophile Weiner and also good friends with Colbert. Colbert also hosted a show creepily named Strangers With Candy. His co-star on Strangers With Candy, Amy Sedaris, played a character on The Heart, She Holler who was a sex-crazed maniac who kept children trapped under her bed. His other costar, Paul Dinello, played a closeted homosexual.

I think the evidence clearly indicates that Colbert is a hot dog / pizza munching pedo.

Blogger SteelPalm May 03, 2017 10:54 PM

In any sane country, Stephen Colbert would be thrown in jail and then publicly flogged for his vile insults towards the God-Emperor.

But that's more merciful than what would happen to Colbert if any Alt-Righters were to get their hands on him. Which would not be difficult, either.

Strangely, I was not especially shocked at Colbert's obscene joke. It's actually amazing that people still profess shock anymore. Our culture today is so debased, the liberal hatred of Trump so unabashed and over-the-top, that concepts like "scandal" or "too far" don't really exist anymore.

It's a sign of our wretched times that Colbert is criticized not because the joke is lewd and filthy, but because the joke is "homophobic," i.e., it insults homosexuals. Our society really is in the toilet.

Colbert and his ilk can keep pouring their scorn and hatred on Trump all they want. They have made their choice. They have chosen to lie, to deceive, and to reject truth. Spiritual forces do exist, and the divine does correct imbalances in our world. Perhaps some of these liberals will see the error of their ways. But sadly, most of them will not.

Another thing I cannot stand is Jeff Bezos' blog's "new" tag line: Democracy dies in darkness. Has anyone informed those *sshats, we're a republic (well in technical terms we are an empire now), not a democracy. Would someone b*tch slap the person that came up with that slogan?

As for Colbert, Rick James and Red Foreman want to talk to him.

As Cail said, his defense of the Church probably made many Catholics erroneously think he was one of us behind enemy lines.

Blogger Basil Makedon May 03, 2017 11:38 PM

@31 Exactly

In fact, to show how far TV has fallen consider that fact that Pat Sajak's talk show on CBS -- yes, that guy -- was cancelled because it only pulled 3M viewers and was in last place in 1989.

I Think Steve probably stays. He set himself up perfectly. If he is fired for crossing the line over Trump, well he is a martyr. Being crude, lack of good taste, disrespectful, have nothing to do with it when it comes to Trump. Colbert and CBS are merely the first to publicly admit anything goes, anything at all. And if the FCC doesn't kick him off the air, his ratings will go up to boot. Why it's almost like this is cynical on the part of both Colbert & CBS..I believe this will be something looked back on as a milestone, a possible turning point we plowed right through on our way to ripping each other's throats out.

Colbert clearly overstepped, intentionally, pushing that Overton window where it should not go. Note how he refuses to apologize, and how this choice has strengthened (or at least failed to weaken) his position. It's an unapologetic invasion of the public sphere, he's daring anyone to push him back.

Sadly he'll probably stand, it's a good calculation on his move. He knows that CBS is on his side and anyone at the FCC who objects can be made to cuck.

That may not be as true as it used to be. Social media makes it possible for a boycott to reach many more people, and for them to keep reminding and reinforcing each other in a way they couldn't when it was something being brought up at PTA meetings. Also, modern, converged corporations are now in the habit of bowing to PC pressure on a regular basis. If you can frame your demands in PC terms like "homophobic," you might get some traction.

I doubt Colbert even believes the nonsense of the Trump and Putin silly nonsense, it is just more conspiracy whackiness masquerading (poorly) as sophisticated political rhetoric.

The Left is a joke

Trump needs to play hardball. Have the FCC revoke the broadcast license of every CBS station. All of them. Permanently.

Then reallocate the bandwidth to make it clear that CBS is out of business for good. Make a Terrible Example of them.

Shitlib comics have not been able to criticize a president for 8 years so they might have some bile backed up.

If a righty comedian said Obama's mouth was a cock holster for King Abdullah, Fox would fire him even if he did not work for them.

What if he had proof? Don't forget Bill Clinton can't deny being a rapist without triggering civil suites.

Boycotts are a waste of time. IMO.

Don't use the left's tactics, we are better than that even if we can't conserve little girls bathrooms.

ok now to use the term on any given Leftist without repercussions if Colbert can.

"Ruth Bader Ginsburg should shut her cock holster." MILO is off track with this one Ginsburg goes at cheese pizza with scissors.

Anyone notice that these news stories NEVER quote the racist/homophobic/offensive remark in question?

If you watch this video you will see why gays got thrown in the ovens also.

Related-Virtue signaling skanks support Gay principle who was reported cursing out pro life students,

Said in the tone of "Why wouldn't you want a gay Hispanic peds nurse to change your sons diapers";
"Pavis said she does not question what Ruff did, but rather she questions why Ruff was the only administrator outside the school to protect and defend the students from the protesters. She said he must have been scared during the interaction" He sure didn't look scared, if he was scared he would have called the cops instead of rubbing his gayness in their face.

@64 Colbert is an obedient holster of the DNC, by the way.

I think this is the closest explanation for this episode. This was something written and coordinated way above Colbert or even CBS. Colbert was simply the messenger. It's also why CBS probably feels no need to reprimand Colbert since they're in the clear.

This was an attempt to push Trump to react in a way similar to how he reacted to the SNL Bannon spoof. Most of what you see out there is unsophisticated manipulation, pressing buttons that are easy to press. This is why it was also important to get a lot of press coverage surrounding the controversy.

Trying to get the Left raise it's standards of acceptable public behavior is kind of like trying to house train a chicken, it's still going to shit all over the place and it's going to cluck at you constantly while it does it.

@82 Cataline Sergius
Congrats, you're probably about 1000x funnier than Stephen Colbert.

So can we call Colbert Hillary's cock holster now?

Anonymous winnable battles May 04, 2017 1:02 PM

Oh no Colbert said not nice things about him that will change everything. he lost Colbert (heavy sarcasm)

Blogger inthelionsden May 04, 2017 1:08 PM

The main problem with people like Colbert and their obscene smugness, is that they are way too comfortable in their air conditioned studio, and Pavlovian Hyena audience. They can be as crude and nasty as they want to be, while calling people they do not agree with every name under Gods sun without fear of consequence. Way too comfy, and in need of a bit of chaos to remind them that actions do indeed have consequences.

Better to feel good about what a good person you are, no matter the cost to your people and your country, Right Billy?

No, you're not.
You're a member of the Mitt Romney wing of the Meaningless Center-Right Cuckspiracy. You're a useless cuck who has lost every single fight. Even when you thought you had won, you were "betrayed" when the cuck you helped elect gave up the moment the rowing got hard. You still can't figure it out though.

But by god (however you define him), you're better than people who actually want to accomplish something.

I'll stop there because Vox has asked us to refrain from vulgarity.

I'm triggered. I hope Trump puts Colbert under a gag order.

Blogger Aitch748 May 04, 2017 7:09 PM

Looks like Billy Ray came on here to rant without bothering to read what anybody wrote.

Personally, I don't want Stephen Colbert to shut up. I want him to get more and more outrageous. I want to see him let his freak flag high and show the world what a sociopath he is. I want him to start giving Melania and Ivanka Trump the Sarah Palin treatment, and then tell us that this isn't sexism. I want him to start making sexually charged jokes about Trump's children and grandchildren, and then tell us that Trump is so uniquely evil that his whole family are legitimate targets. I want him to call for a final solution to the Trump-supporter problem. I want him to go as far as he possibly can before the torch-and-pitchfork crowd overwhelm his security detail.

Then I want the rest of the left-wing entertainment industry to keep proving to the world what sociopaths THEY are by cheering Colbert on.

We might as well wake up a few more people who still aren't quite convinced that most of the people in our "elite" political/entertainment class are sociopaths who only want to rob and browbeat the rest of us.

Like I said on Instapundit, complaining to the main network isn't going to do squat. What is needed as a concerted attack on affiliate stations, targeting their advertising revenues. As the show gets dropped on affiliates, the network's overall rate card is also affected.

I have been thinking about how "David and Goliath" these battles are; corporations with multi billion dollar war chests can withstand most forms of economic warfare and attack (if nothing else, they can simply outlast you).

So going after the network (in terms of the connectivity between the various actors, rather than "The Network"), and either breaking the connections or inserting substitutes which consumers, viewers and others can turn to seems to be the strategy which can work.

After all, companies like Google, CBS or Facebook might still be capable of remaining as "viable" corporations for decades even without a single customer, but it will be meaningless if they have no ability to actually use that money to influence target audiences.
