Happy Father's Day

Congratulations, gentlemen. You have accomplished the first part of your primary duty as a man.

Now for the hard part. Raising your sons and daughters to be ready for the challenges ahead.

John Adams once said, "I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce, and agriculture, in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain."

That was then. This is the Current Year. Raise your sons to study politics and war. Raise your daughters to be the wives and mothers of warriors.

We stand not as mere men, but as Patriarchs.

Happy Fathers' Day! Raise your children to study politics and war; to observe, gather evidence and to think; and to be honest and honorable in their interactions with others - allowing for "Tit for Tat" by Steven den Beste. The first set will help them preserve their lives; the second will help make those lives interesting and productive; the third will help them pass on solid values to their children, your grandchildren.

The sad irony is that Mr. Adams got his wish, and the later generations have become so elegantly enervated, that they are unable to resist obvious attacks from people who despise them.

I just spent the weekend in my hometown with my Baby Boomer mother. She's kind of awake, but not too much. The Boomers are still trapped in a time warp that has left them in the 1970s.

One thing I did notice while driving around the neighborhoods that was very interesting:

There were several Confederate flags flying in peoples' yards and houses.

That wasn't seen just 10 years ago.

White people are waking up. I told my Boomer mother about it, and even she agreed.

Your reply puzzles me. A great deal of our problems today stem from the rotten elements of society telling men it's not a title worth earning, and attacking those men who pursue it anyway. That's something I figured you understood.

More Wrath than Terror, has seized me. I am very mad. The gloomy Cowardice of the Times, is intollerable in N. England.

Indeed I feel not a little out of Humour, from Indisposition of Body. You know, I cannot pass a Spring, or fall, without an ill Turn -- and I have had one these four or five Weeks -- a Cold, as usual. Warm Weather, and a little Exercise, with a little Medicine, I suppose will cure me as usual. I am not confined, but moap about and drudge as usual, like a Gally Slave. I am a Fool if ever there was one to be such a Slave. I wont be much longer. I will be more free, in some World or other.

Is it not intollerable, that the opening Spring, which I should enjoy with my Wife and Children upon my little Farm, should pass away, and laugh at me, for labouring, Day after Day, and Month after Month, in a Conclave, Where neither Taste, nor Fancy, nor Reason, nor Passion, nor Appetite can be gratified?

Posterity! You will never know, how much it cost the present Generation, to preserve your Freedom! I hope you will make a good Use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in Heaven, that I ever took half the Pains to preserve it.

I'm amazed reading through the biography of John Adams how much his emotions went to and fro, any yet if I am honest living in such a revolutionary age who cannot have such ups and downs?

Gentleman do not dispair as you raise your children. As with Adams one may grow to be a faithless drunkard while another travels far from home and becomes President. God may well surprise you when he touches your child's heart.

In my own extended family my father, mother and us kids at one time were seen, quite worthily, as the black sheep of the family. But God stepped in and as I look back my father has served the Lord with all he has these past 40 years and though his days may not be long in this earth, he raised us boys to be men, men of God, and Men of The West.

Gentlemen give your sons room to make mistakes, protect them from your wife's desire to cuddle them, take risks, but always pray for them, and if they start accept them back when they return humbled and broken. Your Prodigal may turn out to be a Moses.

My little girl has a warrior heart.
It's both awesome and frightening to think of how to raise her, especially given the harsh distance between us and her mother's toxic influence.
That said... she's surviving so far.
For which I can only give thanks to a merciful God.

My main worry is the historical absence of a plentiful supply of Warriors. That girl, when she grows into a woman, will not be able to be happy with anything less than a lion of a man with balls of steel.

I pray he exists and that I have time to marry her off to him. Wherever that young boy is now.

I was born on a Saturday and the next day was Fathers Day. So my Dad always stayed at least one Fathers Day more than I had birthdays, and sometimes two, depending on the year. Fathers Day was always on a Sunday and my birthday was on a fixed he could get two ahead of me, briefly.

Blogger tz June 18, 2017 3:49 PM

I'd only differ on a semantic point. Raise your sons to become real men. Don't study politics and war, learn to fight dialectally, rhetorically, and physically. Become this generations's Ivan Throne, the Dark Triad Man. Develop fortitude and courage - as well as prudence, temperance, but especially Justice in all of its terrible (as in terrifying) glory. Philosopher kings who can lead others into battle.

Daughters, similarly, though you should take both your sons and daughters hunting and to the range. Make sure they will desire men worthy of being husbands and fathers.

The small bricks in the edifice of western civilization and Christendom are the families, not the warriors or philosophers or the pastors/priests. While the state is eroding the edifice, it can only do so because it is made of clay and not granite.

Starting praying with my son for hsi future spouse when he was six years old, "Somewhere Lord there's a six year old girl out there. We pray you protect her and bless her." I might not make it to see her in this life, but when he meets her she is sure to hear from him that his dad loved her since she was a little girl. It was a rough night with my cousin and I both dads are terminal, we are trying to cope. Last night, I was at gab, dads not well, everyone here has been so kind towards me and counseled me when I was in uncharted waters. I am grateful to this group.

Losing a father, a brother when your a rabid anti feminist family woman is painful. Gab has been wonderful as well, wonderful people.

Since we are saved by Christ the hurt and grief is something everyone can heal from with clarity, reality, better coping skills or so we pray.

Thanks to this group, healing was the only path; even though I have bad days, my art label is doing well, I teach yoga, ballet water aerobics and cursive. Then there is farming; our group is set to provide or sell our communities produce at 18% (up from 11%) of the communities food.

No longer am I bad off and dad would want the same too. So I thank everyone here and I stop here as there are blog rules to abide by.

Heard a good Father's Day sermon this morning. He preached to the wives, told them "If you have a husband, appreciate him." His three points (to wives about their husbands) were 1. Value him. 2. Love him. 3. Respect him. He made fun of wives who want to tell their husbands how to lead the family. Definitely not cucked.

@63 Beau. Thank you for your continual prayers for my wife and I. My wife has completed Gamma Knife surgery for the tumor in her brain. The doctors think the tumor is benign and will begin to shrink over time. The side effects (dizzyness, pain) of the tumor should also subside over time. She may never fully recover but we are content with what we are given.
This has been a very trying time, also an encouraging time. Our belief has not been shaken, but our faith was tested and has become stronger.

That quote is dear, and the Lord has allowed me to see a contemporary version of it. I went into a life of drugs, drinking, crime, violence, and immorality at age 13. At 28 Jesus gave me a new life, but there was still a steep price to pay for that kind of life, mostly things missing. I got married at 32, had a large family. The oldest son is beyond "a walking encyclopedia" he's a brainiac, at least in regard to mechanical, machinist technology, and a fair amount of physics. First kid in years to pass all 3 ham radio exams in one sitting. I obviously am not smart enough to teach him that stuff, I merely (with God's help) figured out what sort of environment to maintain for him to learn things on his own.
Here's the relevant beauty of the situation: in this day, if one is careful with computers and internet, the generational thing can be accelerated. He now uses internet videos to teach my youngest sons things about advanced engines, machinists operations, and other practical things. My sons, in my house. God has mercy.
s/ Oh, and 48, 49 might be on to something. I have 6 sons, 5 daughters.

Anonymous Mr. Rational June 19, 2017 12:48 AM

@60  LP9, despite your personal impediments your well-wishing still affects and promotes the common good.  You and your father are in my thoughts.

@69  I am sad for what our failure to develop our medical technology in a timely fashion has denied your wife.  Gamma rays deposit energy roughly linearly, so they do about as much damage to the tissue they pass through as the target (though the gamma-knife methodology spreads this out).  Charged particles like protons deposit their energy mostly at the end of their travel, which would spare tissues on the way in more than gamma rays.  We could do so much better, but we don't (yet).

years ago, i visited a saki making factory in rural japan that'd been in business with the same samurai family for over 500 years.

the lords sitting room overlooked a garden that was both wild looking and perfectly planned. it was simply beautiful to look at, a real work of art. you could easily imagine sitting there looking into the garden and being perfectly relaxed.

the story was, the first samurai lord who had the house built, planned the garden and it's been maintained ever since.
