National Review deserves to die

Kevin Williamson was out hustling for donors on behalf of National Review today. Apparently it has not made money since 1955. Strange, that a magazine should feature so many great defenders of capitalism who nevertheless cannot figure out what that means concerning the market for their product.

In any event, in tonight's Darkstream I explain why National Review is both inappropriately named and why it deserves to be tossed into the dustbin of history.

And its not as if they couldn't have been great. From the early 90s through their separation with The Derb, they purged their most insightful writers.

King Cuck himself admits that his employer hasn't turned a profit in over half a century?

The ACLU is sitting on a mountain of cash. Same with the Southern Poverty Law Center. Any number of Leftist organizations have huge financial resources.

But National Review, the vanguard of conservative thought with respect to fiscal restraint and free market capitalism, is penniless and always has been?

I can't help but LOL.

No wonder the Left wins.

Can't he just rent a U-Haul and pack up to where the work is?

Instead of whining for sympathy about his dysfunctional community which deserves to die. Have no pity on it. After all, anyone with drive and talent will make a go of it somewhere else. Losers who can't or won't are just... losers.

Love some of the comments over there...particularly this one: "Ironic you asking for money for NPO. To paraphrase you "people who can't pull their own weight need to die & be done with it." I think I know what you mean; people need to move to better cities/places that are economically growing. Plus drug addicts in West Texas & other rural depressed places are a major drag on the economy. There's not much economic hope in those areas either. But, there's always a but, if NPO can't survive on ad dollars maybe it should "just die off." Just saying. I always remember Rush's comment "NPO was conservative publication when Mr. Buckley ran the it. Now I don't know what it is."'

in other words: the shabbatz goyim (Williamson et al.) are every bit as hostile to White Western Civilization as their Jewish paymasters: Podhoretz, Goldberg et al. Vox mentioned 4 other globalist luminaries: Bezos, Zuckerberg, Soros, and Slim: 3 out of 4 are Jews. I also like his sociological explanation for the SG's hostility to their own people...but think the fat paycheck is equally important.

Kevin Williamson counted on his Never Trump stance to protect him. No, he would be in the second group put against the wall. Our survivors would be the first group. The Committee for Cooperation and Coordinated Protection (CCCP) would make sure of that.

I subscribed for a few years, then added up what was missing, and realized that the magazine was useless. Firing Derb for speaking the truth was the last straw.

U-Haul off and die already.

Anonymous Jim Scrummy June 02, 2017 9:50 PM

Wow, Kevey has put some poundage, judging by the picture of him in the shilling article. Forgive me, I once donated to NR about 7-8 years ago, and I still get their blasted donation mailers every six months or so. Never again will I donate to those losers. It pays to be a winner, NR, something you'll never experience.

Blogger praetorian June 02, 2017 9:56 PM

Kevin Williamson will be one of the first up against the wall, with the following words stuffed in his fat, de-bearded mouth:

"The truth about these dysfunctional, downscale communities is that they deserve to die. Economically, they are negative assets."

Blogger Cail Corishev June 02, 2017 10:07 PM

One benefit of the general conviction that Hillary had the election in the bag was the way it encouraged all the NRO types to burn bridges with the right-wingers and middle-Americans that they never liked much, and fly their cuck flags high. Had they thought Trump had a chance, they might have been savvy enough to play both sides a bit and keep their options open, so they wouldn't be out in the cold during a possible Trump presidency. But they were absolutely sure that wasn't necessary, so we got lots of clarity on where they stand, and now they don't have much choice except to double-down on it.

Blogger SDaly June 02, 2017 10:47 PM

It's hilarious that he thinks people will swallow his bs that NR is a "conservative institution that lets a lot of different writers with a lot of different opinions write what they think without worrying about anything other than producing the best work they can." Tell that to the readers who liked Derb, Ann Coulter and Mark Steen.

Comments seem to have been deleted. Kev's plea seems to be going over as well as Kathy Griffin's press conference.

Yep. Williamson is about as popular as AIDS right now. People are taking a dump in his tin cup all throughout the comments section. What they still don't get is that the left will still hate them, and refer to them as Literally Hitler (tm) no matter how much they punch right.

The Crucifixions along the Appian Way took place after the Battle at the Silarus River in May, 71 BC.

Crassus had captured around 6,000 rebels from the last battle of the Third Servile War. When news arrived that Pompey had defeated the rebels himself and had taken the credit for what Crassus had done, Crassus decided to crucify his prisoners along the Appian Way, from Capua to Rome. This was intended to both remind Rome of what he had done, and to send a warning to all other slaves who rebelled against their masters. Some rebels were probably crucified on the Latin Road (Via Latina), another road from Capua to Rome. the prisoners walked, with their crosses, across 75 miles from the river silarus to Capua.

The rebels were left for death, many dying every day from heat exhaustion and starvation and thirst. They were not taken down for weeks, many slaves may have been deliberately taken along the road to Rome, so they would know that this fate awaited them should they attempt to act against their masters.

Blogger Cail Corishev June 02, 2017 11:28 PM

True, that was an option. Have any of them done that? A few, like Shapiro, seem to be hoping that if they talk tough enough about leftists, we'll forget what mewling pukes they were last year when it counted; but I can't think of any who have done a mea culpa and showed any sign of having learned anything.

It's Kevin D. Williamson, dontcha know. That prick's gotta have his D. Okay I'll give him that, but not another dime ever.

Everybody loves "Sweet Home Alabama", it's an interesting song. There's an ongoing battle among musicians about what key it's in. Is in the key of G or D? This has been debated since the day it was laid down. A lot of it seems to be going on in the wrong key (it's a D Mixolydian Mode composition, technically).

I stopped paying attention to NR around '08, except occasionally to read something by the Derb which may or may not have been from it (while he lasted). I have read books since then by NR contributors (I think), like Paul Johnson, Victor Davis Hanson, Jonah Goldberg, and Roger Kimball. But never the magazine or the website themselves.

Prior to that, I never bought it. My grandpa had a subscription at one point, so I'd occasionally read it when I was at his house. Gradually as I grew up I realized they were warmed-over leftists. Everything they stood for was what radicals believed in ten years before at most. The lag is down to half a second or so nowadays.

I never, ever hear it come up in rightist circles anymore except as a source and target of ire. A Williamson will piss everyone off, then they react angrily. That is the sum total of NR's current contribution to the right.

Blogger tublecane June 03, 2017 1:12 AM

@22-I was listening to comedian Bill Burr lately, and though I generally assume all those guys (or all the MSM allows to get famous) are lefties, Burr is at least a bit of a Real Talker. He's big on major kill-offs to deal with overpopulation. (Or supposed overpopulation.) Got me thinking about Kevin Williamson, and why his article was much more "triggering" than Burr's routine. And it's more than the fact that no one takes stand-up comedians seriously.

If Williamson had just gone after everybody, people could have got behind it, I think. The idea that cities should die off for convenience, and everyone who can't pick up and move with the economic winds doesn't deserve to live is profoundly anti-civilizational, of course. But there was something about the way he went after Dying White America when you know he'd make all the excuses in the world for Detroit that gets under my skin. (Or all the acceptable conservative, right-libertarian excuses: Democrat politicians, socialism, etc.)

The polarization continues, but it is now leftist authoritarians (incl. cux) v.s. leave me alone (non-ideological) right libertarians. There is less and less purple or even shades.

A thought on the 2020 war. In 2012 Ron Paul, the nicest, most honorable, and knowledgeable man I know was run over by the corrupt GOPe machine to get Crooked Mitt nominated. So we got Trump. In 2016, there is a parallel with Sanders v.s. Hillary on their side.
