Trump rescinds DAPA

That's a good move. Now send back all the Dreamers and refugees - and stop letting more of them in!
The Trump administration on Thursday night ended an Obama-era policy that protected undocumented immigrants with children who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, known as DAPA or Deferred Action for Parents of Americans, according to multiple news reports. Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly sent a memo to agents Thursday telling them not to follow the Obama-era rule, which was enacted by his predecessor Jeh Johnson in November of 2014.
As always, one has to be very careful about trying to interpret Trump's intentions. Especially when one action contradicts the other. But regardless, reneging on this campaign pledge sure looks like a stupid and unnecessary own goal:
President Trump has officially reversed his campaign pledge to deport the so-called Dreamers, undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as small children. The Department of Homeland Security announced late Thursday night that it would continue the Obama-era program intended to protect those immigrants from deportation and provide them work permits so they can find legal employment. A fact sheet posted on the department’s website says immigrants enrolled in the 2012 program, known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, “will continue to be eligible” to renew every two years and notes that “no work permits will be terminated prior to their current expiration dates.”
Unless he is about to reveal something that will counter-balance this, one has to wonder what on Earth he is thinking. He's not going to win any support with this, but he certainly may lose some.

Hopefully, Trump has realized he has nothing to gain by playing nice with the left or trying to meet them halfway.

He certainly has nothing to lose by playing hardball. How much worse could the left get?

I've come to realize the left has this in common with Islam: they only respect strength. Compromise is viewed as weakness, and weakness is viewed as a reason to attack and obliterate.

One way for the Alt-Right to fight back is to inform the authorities of illegals. I live in a major American city and I became aware (indirectly) of an illegal.
Resort to all legal means to hurt the Left. Opportunities to do so arise from day-to-day life.

That joke was too involved. To insult someone properly you have to get straight to the heart of it. Though it's simple and crude, calling someone a fag is often more effective than being clever.

If you insist on clever insults, try to use a very simple insult that includes double and triple meanings or allusions. That way, your joke can be understood anyone while still communicating nuanced flavors for the folks with discriminating tastes.

To add to that: http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/06/16/trump-administration-preparing-announce-construction-wall-prototypes/

"President Donald Trump’s administration plans to announce design finalists for his “big beautiful wall” soon.
The announcement will take place sometime in the summer of this year, according to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesperson. It will include four to eight designs for wall “prototypes” to be constructed in San Diego.

The exact date and details of the prototypes announcement have not been set, but is expected to be a major milestone for the president’s promised project.

Trump supporters will soon see for themselves exactly what the wall might look like after the contracts are awarded and constructions of the prototypes are completed.

The prototypes will allow officials to see and test the designs for themselves, according to the CBP, before making a decision on the final design for the planned wall on the Southern border."

"“We are absolutely dead serious about the wall,” Mulvaney said in May after releasing the budget proposal, calling it one of the president’s “top three” budget priorities.

While in office, the president has repeatedly updated the public about the wall, arguably his biggest campaign promise that his mostly loyal supporters are watching closely.

“The wall will be a great help and that will happen, believe me,” Trump said, after meeting with Republican congressional leaders in June."

The wall is popular enough with the general public that getting it done too soon would damage Trump's political situation as that would eliminate it as an issue. Best to have it underway in two years and close to or finished in four.

"Sure, investigate and investigate all you want!"

Trump then opened his dossier, quickly signing an order to cut the IRS budget by 14% in one year. He signed the next bill at his desk, standing as he rifled through the two page document. He took his pen and signed in one motion, and now the EPA is prohibited from creating regulations.

The kids can stay if they want. Will they stay without their parents? If parents can't use their kids as anchors, will they abandon them, or be their Natural Conservative selves and take the kids with them to remain a family?

These are illegals; use the existing laws to heavily penalize employers of illegals; cut all the benes; declare the anchor initiative as illegal. DNA sample, finger print, and fully photo all caught illegals before deporting them. At this point no need for a wall, though it would be a nice icing on the cake.

I would not be at all surprised if in a month or two, we find out that Trump has some backdoor way of killing DACA with less publicity. DAPA is something that I doubt will generate all THAT much outrage. Killing DACA would generate at least a week's worth of commie wailing and push the left's violence out of the news.

Also, would not be surprised if he waits for Democrats to do something stupid like push even more sanctuary cities or something similar, and then he kills DACA and blames it on that. Or he's keeping DACA around for now because he wants to use it as a hostage when it comes to funding the wall.

Illegals with anchor babies get deported;
Illegals who invaded as children get to stay;
Illegals who brought their illegal children with them get deported;

Cue the media screams about "breaking up familes" in 3,2,1...

Serious own-goal by Trump. No apparent basis for it but desire for good press or goodfeelz (Ivanka?). He will get neither and piss off his base besides. All he had to do was overturn Obama policy of not enforcing immigration law. Net failure here absent some new development.

Dude, where's my wall? You didn't promise "plans for a wall" or "really cool designs for a wall", you promised a "big, beautiful wall". We are keeping score. You're twatter account is worthless without your supporters. I wonder how fast the fake investigations into you and your staff will proceed without your supporters behind you? Anonymous basementhomebrewer June 16, 2017 10:36 AM

I bet the DACA piece is either a concession to an agreement with some establishment type or democrat. That or it's a Kushner/Ivanka idea.

One thing I have noticed recently are all the leftist fools running around and celebrating the possibility of Kushner being swept up in the investigation. They really are too stupid to realize that jamming up Kushner would be a double loss for them. It would eliminate a voice sympathetic to them in the White House. It also would royally piss Trump off and cause him to go scorched earth.

Blogger DemonicProfessorEl June 16, 2017 10:38 AM

Yep. That's why I don't really pay much attention to the MSM's attacks on Trump or why he seems to go along with it. He's constantly feinting with his left before making severe body blows with his right. And the Left falls for it all the time.

I think it's pretty funny overall. It's like that general who always gets outflanked by the same maneuver :)

Per judges - all these "Federal Judges Overturning" things will either be brought up to the Supreme Court or overturned with other judicial appointments. Trump and the *good* Republicans (even at state level, with governors) can appoint special councils to investigate and overrule the lawfare.

While it seems tedious, my optimistic self says we're in the logistics phase of the deep operation. We have to prepare for the big strikes - we can't just charge in against the Left's big guns.

Yep. Lefties (and Muzzies? Tird worlders?) are nothing without confiscated money. Cutoff the freebies, they'll evaporate (figuratively or literally).

@80 Aeoli Pera

Agreed. I think we really need to remind some of these "charge the cannons in a frontal attack!!!" people that military type tactics are the ones to explore here. The Left/Muz are at WAR. They're not thinking of politics as a polite game of opinion and policy.

It's war to them - "politics as an extension of war by other means," if you will.

TBH fam, all you bitterbitches are the reason Trump can't do anything decisive. His political capital is built on a bunch of perfectionists who'll disavow him over every little missile strike.

The cure for your confusion is pattern recognition. Try it!

I will indeed!

Blogger Aeoli Pera June 16, 2017 11:55 AM

I'll go further: politics is an extension of war by other means, and "all warfare is based on deception". Therefore, all of politics is based on deception.

Heheh, or should I say kek?

And yeah - I like "bitterbitches" become such a way? I get impatience (I really do), but still.

"Policy" means formally favoring one polity over another, based on its characteristics: e.g. favoring normal people over thieves (or vice versa if you're Stalin). Politics means a central authority has a monopoly on violence, so you use the threat of violence to influence policy in favor of your group.

Blogger Cataline Sergius June 16, 2017 12:15 PM

You can never tell what Trump really wants when he makes an unexpected action.

On October 3, 2006, Trump raised a 20-by-30-foot (6.1 by 9.1 m) American flag on an 80-foot (24 m) flagpole at Mar-a-Lago. Town zoning officials asked Trump to adhere to town zoning codes that limit flagpoles to a height of 42 feet (13 m).[60] This dispute led the town council of Palm Beach to charge Trump $1,250 for every day that the flag stayed up. Trump filed a lawsuit against the Town of Palm Beach. Trump eventually dropped his lawsuit over the flag, and in exchange the town waived its fines.[61] As part of a court-ordered mediation, Trump was allowed to file for a permit and keep a pole that was both 10 feet (3.0 m) shorter than the original pole and located on a different spot on his lawn. The agreement also required him to donate $100,000 to veterans’ charities, as well as resulted in a change to town ordinances allowing out-of-town enrollees in club membership.

Hey, guess what President Trump really wanted all along.

Blogger Out of Nod June 16, 2017 12:16 PM

The difference lies in DAPA and DACA. The Carlos Slim blog is trying to minimize the termination of DAPA by saying Trump hasn't gone all the way. An attempt to demoralize Trumps base who called for such actions.

As for the children (DACA), they can go with their parents (DAPA) because it would be wrong to separate the family.

Upon approach and beginning discoure, it was immediately clear this 20 somethink kid spoke not a lick of english. So I engage him in Spanish for a minute and inquire where he is from. With somewhay shifty eyes says "here" and named the same town we were standing in.

So either its true in which case he somehow managed to avoid public school and his parents didnt dee the need for him to even try to assimilate. Or, better, he was out and out lying in which case the societal undercurrents are pressuring him to recognize that foreigners are unwelcome or that minimally there is a stigma.

'Dreamers' to Stay in US for Now, but Long-Term Fate is Unclear

Well, it is the NYT, and they're misrepresenting what the GE has stated as usual. Perhaps, as some have mentioned, through rescinding DAPA, they will take their 3rd world brood with them to their cesspits. But I don't think so. As long as the $IMFS stays intact, there will be resources available to care for the poor downtrodden "I have a dream" dreamers.

But I'm heartened that the end of this system is near. Then we see whether our butthurt debutantes can stand up to their false machismo flatulated on this board from their Mommies basement.

Anonymous SigOther June 16, 2017 2:13 PM

I think there is a point being missed here. The actual manpower situation is a constraint on GE's deportation moves. There are only so many personnel manning the stations - ICE detention teams, deportation officers, immigration judges, removal officers. Isn't there a 500,000 case backlog? If he adds too much work to the system, we are going to start seeing demotivating stories about deportees falling through the cracks, getting released bc delays or overburdened detention centers, etc. We/GE needs weekly pictures of successful roundups, not stories about admin snafus. If GE gets his budget for DHS this fiscal year, we'll see the bilge pumps going full blast to send them back. Until then, it's policy changes, rhetoric, and small scale but high publicity actions.

DACA, the one about the "dreamers", can be killed by a 1000 cuts. It's also a live-fire zone for the Left. They desperately need the ability to run out the "look at the poor children!" pieces. Heck, they've likely had them prepared for 6 months.

As SigOther rightly points out, just blowing up the EO without the ability to handle the result would be its own problem. DACA needs to die, but it's also the last one that does. Which means it will, in due time.

That's probably one of the reasons he's keeping DACA for now—the fake judges will definitely overturn his executive order, and they would be able to come up with a slightly more plausible pseudo-legal justification for why the Constitution requires DACA then they can for DAPA. (It's un-Constitutional to punish children for their actions.)

@109 LurkingPuppy

After the #MuslimBan dropped, for about 24 hours there, the Blue Check Morons remembered that Saudi Arabia is where most of the 9/11 attackers were from. It's clear someone went around and told them all to stop killing their own talking points because you can't honestly talk about problems among them.

Similarly, the MSM's roll out of an attack on Kushner was hilarious. It was pretty obvious what was going to happen. First, they'd try, then within 24-48 hours they'd start rolling back the attack because it would dawn on them the reality of the matter: Jared & Ivanka are the jews with the single largest influence in the World at the moment. The speed at which they rapidly changed the topic was hilarious.

The best bit is that Trump laid out most of the ways he operates in his books. But no one on the Left actually knows how to Listen. Trump tells you what he's up to by optics & words, not dog-whistles and virtue signaling.

It's why they don't get how he does things: why would Trump use his daughter, the blonde-bombshell, Jewish, mother of 3 and former Model as the "face" of certain things? Because attacking her from the Left is to attack themselves. Trump isn't playing Identity Politics; he's playing the contradictions of Identity Politics against itself.

There's always going to be bumps in the road, but the man has earned my trust.

It SMELLS like yet another filthy compromise.
Trump can eliminate the DAPA but keep the DACA.
The parents are no longer protected from deportation (which they richly deserve) but the screaming brats they brought with them can keep renewing their green card every two years.

The reason it seems like a contradiction is because there is no Unity of Purpose. WE are still flying (even more) fake Muslim refugees than when Obama was in office. So how does it make any sense to fly even more Muslims into the USA (legally) while trying to get the courts to lift the hold on travel from six Muslim countries? Yes, it would seem to be a contradiction, but it smells more like yet another filthy compromise. Half a loaf, or half an apple, while competing interests get the other half.
Have WE been betrayed?....yes, a "little" bit.
Has he kept his campaign promises?...yes, a "little" bit.
He seems to be bargaining for a limp consensus that will never happen. No matter how much he PANDERS....yes, that is what it is called....they will still hate his guts and refuse to cooperate, except to the extent that they can get what they want. Before the next election (2020) he will fritter away the support he had in 2016, and get nothing in return. That is the problem with PANDERING....it costs much more than is ever gained.

Answer the question.
Under Article 15 of the Mexican Constitution, every baby born....anywhere in the world....with ONE or MORE Mexican parents, is a citizen of Mexico.
It does not matter if the USA (or any other country) pretends to extend them (wrongly) citizenship based on solis, the Mexican government still claims them as Mexican. So only the USA would see them as "dual citizens". I seriously doubt they see themselves that way.

By definition of the program, DACA "kids" cannot hold dual US citizenship - they can't hold any legal status in US at all. The entire point is a granted deferral from deportation; if they had legal status then they have barriers to being deported and DACA is moot anyway.

Further it was only one snapshot in time; DACA kids in 2017 are now 11-25. That universe is fixed; DACA is not a perpetual program. It's got a ton pf criteria and one is they've had to be in country continuously since 2007. The adults can be deported no problem without optics issues. So the 11-17 becomes an ever shrinking issue the longer this goes on.

I mean in 4 years, Trump can at least get down to 14 year olds who will be 18 in his last year of first term.

If Trump gets reelected, he can just whittle down the entirety of the DACA population to 0 the moment they become an adult.

Have faith in the long game.

Anonymous Ominous Cowherd June 16, 2017 11:29 PM

First, President Trump isn't Alt-Right, he's Trump. And President. He's going to do what he wants, not what we want.

Second, of the stuff he wants to do, he can only do what's possible. He is President, and has a clearer view of what's possible than we do. He might be underestimating what's possible, but he is President, and we are not.

Third, worse is likely to be better. Remember that ``burn it all down'' was one of our victory conditions? If President Trump disappoints, he and we can channel that disappointment into hatred of incumbents in 2018. If he disappoints in a big enough way, we can channel that into victory for Mr. L. Hitler in 2020.

We have to keep the pressure on Trump to perform, but that's as much to help him pressure Congress as anything else. He's not Alt-Right, but he wants a lot of what we want.

It's way more important that we start working, NOW, to primary cuckservative incumbents in 2018.
