Breitbart is on it.

Yeah, this diversity debacle doesn't promise to die down anytime soon:
Numerous individuals alleged to be members of Google’s management team have been caught bragging about forming blacklists to impact the careers of colleagues with different political beliefs.
In a series of screenshots from 2015 onwards provided to Breitbart News by a verified Google employee, individuals described as left-wing Google management employees can be seen discussing the ways they punish their colleagues both inside and out of the company.

“While Google appears to be doing very little to quell the hostile voices that exists inside the company, I want those hostile voices to know: I will never, ever hire hire/transfer you onto my team. Ever. I don’t care if you are perfect fit of technically excellent or whatever,” declared former employee Adam Fletcher in a post on Google’s internal, staff-only Google+ network: “Internal Plus.” “I will actively not work with you, even to the point where your team or product is impacted by this decision. I’ll communicate why to your manager if it comes up.”

“You’re being blacklisted by people at companies outside of Google,” he continued. “You might not have been aware of this, but people know, people talk. There are always social consequences.”
Nothing new to readers here, but Breitbart has considerably more reach than I do. However, Allum Bokhari's interview with a rebel Googler, "Hal", is illuminating:
Hal: Witch hunts are a well-known cultural problem at Google. The company is currently facing a Federal complaint filed by the National Labor Relations Board in April for interfering with employees’ legal right to discuss “workplace diversity and social justice initiatives.” The complaint alleges that Senior Vice President Urs Holzle and numerous managers in his organization actively stoked up witch hunts in 2015 and 2016 intended to muzzle low-level employees who raised concerns about the company’s practices. The trial is set for November.

Several managers have openly admitted to keeping blacklists of the employees in question, and preventing them from seeking work at other companies. There have been numerous cases in which social justice activists coordinated attempts to sabotage other employees’ performance reviews for expressing a different opinion. These have been raised to the Senior VP level, with no action taken whatsoever.

Allum Bokhari: What’s it like to work in such an environment? Do you think it damages employee output?

Hal: A lot of social justice activists essentially spend all day fighting the culture war, and get nothing done. The company has made it a point to hire more people like this. The diversity gospel has been woven into nearly everything the company does, to the point where senior leaders focus on diversity first and technology second. The companywide “Google Insider” emails used to talk about cool new tech, but now they’re entirely about social justice initiatives. Likewise, the weekly all-hands “TGIF” meetings used to focus on tech, but now they’re split about 50/50 between tech and identity politics signaling.

For conservative employees, this is obviously demoralizing, but it is also dangerous. Several have been driven out of the company or fired outright for sharing a dissenting view. Others have had their promotions denied or suffered other forms of deniable retaliation. Most of us just keep our heads down because we can’t afford to lose our jobs.

I just had an epiphany.

Years ago I would go to libertarian meetings and they would say beware how companies were and are pervasively and actively being sunk by far-leftist/SJW/commie sabotage which result is then being blamed on evil capitalism to fan public disgust and expand their bureaucratic powers. I resisted that thinking who would deliberately sink their livelihood.

Things feel as if they're rapidly coming to a head. The system-wide social disenfranchisement of 20-30% of the US population cannot continue unabated without consequences. The middle ground is being hacked away at a such a pace that at this rate the 2018 mid-terms will almost invariably take place in the context of some kind of civil unrest. In Portland this week we have leftists violently attacking Alt-Lite rally-goers as "Nazis" while the police stand by doing nothing. You have the ideological purge and intimidation campaign at Google (and all over the tech/corporate world) with white men relentlessly harried and hounded into silence or out of their jobs. We have Air BnB blatantly cancelling accounts of customers who plan on attending the Unite the Right Rally. (How long before the Establishment begins using its antifa cutouts to make demands of utility companies to cut off power to racists' homes?) The Rally itself just had its permit cancelled and the black-supremacist Charlottesville government is attempting to force the protest to take place in a "kill box" where the protesters can be surrounded by antifa terrorists while the police look on and prevent escape. This all has the potential to get out of hand. People will be armed at Charlottesville - with guns. I pray to God that the police do their damn jobs, but I have zero confidence. The only people who don't want violence at Charlottesville are the rally organizers and attendees. CVille is only a microcosm. This is all connected.

The 20-30% of the country that is unapologetically on the Right-wing/Trump side of things is being backed into several corners at once and given no way out, they are being forced to fight or submit. The choice they're being given - and please excuse my poor taste - is dildo or swastika with no in-between. Either they bend over and take it up the rear, or they resist under the banner of Trumpism/Alt Right, i.e., "racism", "sexism", "homophobia", and, of course, "Nazism".

Anonymous franklinjennings August 08, 2017 9:56 AM

It's so amazing to watch this. Google is like a house of cards and all it took was one memo daring to mention that boys and girls are different to send the company into a shrieking, firing, executive-vacation cancelling, newsmaking, employee-alienating, customer-alienating frenzy.

And here we have employees publicly asserting that silencing political beliefs that differ from theirs is a much higher priority for them than serving customers or shareholders.

“I will actively not work with you, even to the point where your team or product is impacted by this decision."

It's just so amazing. If Google doesn't discipline employees who announce their intent to actively sabotage Google's business interests, then management and the board of directors will have to be replaced by professionals better able to run organizations and protect shareholder interests.

Anonymous franklinjennings August 08, 2017 10:08 AM

I can't wait for the next internal Google memo from a rational employee. Here are a few ideas:

1. A rundown of all the quotes from managers promising to use political beliefs as a litmus test for hiring, promotions, refusals to cooperate on business projects, etc. compared to which of those managers get fired for publicly stating their intent to break laws and to sabotage Google's business interests.

2. A memo noting that half the country supports Trump and that it is not necessarily racist to vote Republican. (I would expect a similar SJW freakout: "I refuse to work with anyone who would hurt liberal feelings by suggesting that non-racist conservatives even exist."

Is it official Google policy that all employees must denounce President Trump? If an SJW at Google insists that Trump is "not her President" and a reasonable coworker says, "technically he is," should he be fired? Is even typing the phrase "President Trump" considered hostile speech at Google? Let's find out!

3. A memo noting that single mothers at Google deserve extra help because of the scientific findings that their children tend to have worse outcomes in education, incomes, mental health, etc. than the children of married parents. "No! Hate speech! I will NEVER cooperate with an employee who thinks 2 parents are better than one! I will sabotage their projects! I don't care if the Google stock price gets cut in half--everyone at this company MUST tell me I'm heroic."

The Google SJWs insist that there ARE NO differences between men and women when it comes to coding skills, interest in coding jobs, or interest in tech exec jobs.

In essence, they are arguing that there is a plentiful supply of female tech talent. And that therefore female under-representation at Google is evidence of sexist bias in hiring. Whoops. They are making the government's case for it!

And now they are actively trying to discriminate against people with conservative opinions too!

Google is violating the civil rights of female coding applicants AND Republican Party members at the same time! Ouch. They'll be prosecuted no matter which party is in power.

The manifesto appears to be written with future legal action in mind. And MIT math nerds can't resist a good gamble with a sizable statistical advantage and a huge potential payoff. In other words, he applied game theory, figured out that Google had no other play than to double down, and positioned himself to cash in big.

Also, he's a tech nerd with background in data mining. He HAD to know he'd be found out. The anonymous posting was obviously a gambit (which he guessed correctly that his managers would bite on).

I could be wrong, but my spidey senses tell me Damore is playing to win, and probably had mapped out victory before the game even began. Wouldn't be surprised to find out he read Vox's book and his analytical gambler's mind saw a 100% chance of predicting his opponent's behavior. "California employees are entitled to special protections of their political rights under Labor Code Sections 1101 and 1102, which were passed in 1937. These provisions protect employees from being retaliated against, excluded from, or controlled by their employers with regard to the employees' political affiliations and actions. Section 1101 bars rules, regulations or policies that would forbid or prevent employees from engaging or participating in politics or from running for office. Section 1101 also prohibits companies from directing or controlling an employee's political activities and even from
"tending" to do so. Section 1102 bars employers from coercing, influencing, or attempting to coerce or influence an employee's politics by threatening to fire the employee."

Absolutely. According to an article I found yesterday when I looked up the VP of Feelz:

"Google made some modest increases since its last diversity report. Women in tech roles rose 1 percentage point to 20% and in leadership positions rose 1 percentage point to 25%. Google increased the percentage of Hispanics to 4% from 3% and African Americans in non-technical roles increased to 5% from 4%. All other numbers were flat."

So clearly, next to Augusta Country Club, Google is the second-most sexist, racist place on earth.

Funny side note: wanna bet that the reason they give the percentage of blacks in "non-technical roles" is that the percentage in tech roles rounds down to 0%?

People, please stop talking about "poaching talent."

The oft-repeated story about tech firms being awash in cash tells us unequivocally that they don’t have good, promising ideas for projects.

The capital markets EXIST to place money in the hands of managers so they can expand profitable business. There's now so much (credit) money available to public corporations that they literally can't apply it.

This is yet another elephantine signal of how absurd are the times in which we live.

It'll be very interesting to see play out, as unless the guy didn't read his own Memo, he should have known exactly what was going to happen.

@45 - I only heard of him for the first time less than a month ago, and I spend way too much time on the internet. Watched enough to think he's got a very keen sense of observation, and a great way of cutting to the core of an issue. His start is on an up-tick, meaning he's a target.

@57 - MSFT is largely converged, though maybe not quite as far as Google; I've not worked there in a long time. But they have lots of cash, a near-monopoly on the OS cash-cow, a huge lead in the Office software products, and a huge stable of other things that can potentially generate $$$. I live not far from Redmond, and know a lot more former microsofties than current. Went in for an interview there a while back, and it was very, very diverse. At this point, I'm only using legacy MSFT products, and plan on migrating to Linux bases stuff as much as possible for home use.

It's the EPITOME of pathologically high social trust.

One really bizarre thing, to those of us who have been around a while, has been seeing people go from, "No, you can't have my email address! Spammers might get it!" to, "Here, entire world, have some timestamped pictures of my children playing at the park."

In a matter of a few years, the need for people (women) to validate themselves to others online just swamped the concerns about privacy that were reflected in pop culture like the movie The Net in 1995. Then, everyone repeated the line about how being on the Net meant people could know what you ate for breakfast. That fear just dissolved in the face of social media. And the funny thing is, now that it's almost true, hardly anyone cares anymore.

Anonymous fop August 08, 2017 11:51 AM

More evidence.

Damore is an Illinois native who graduated from the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in 2007, according to his Facebook page. As a child, Damore was a chess champion, earning the FIDE Master title, putting him in the >99th percentile, according to his CV. He won regional tournaments in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007, and finished second in the Nation Youth Action 2003 Chess Tournament. He was also the highest ranked player in the world in the video game Rise of Nations in 2004.

He's a chess master and a world-class gamer (likely a #gamergater?).

We're talking superintelligence, drive, and off-the-charts competitiveness. Google screwed with the wrong nerd.

Things don't happen in a vacuum; The Memo is just the most recent - and now public - skirmish in the company about it. It looks like Demore filed an NLRB complaint, too, after seeing what is going on with this one already in progress.

Anonymous franklinjennings August 08, 2017 11:52 AM

@fop. Outstanding analysis. I love it. He knew what they would do, he knew that he would win, and he knew that he would shift the narrative in corporate America. Well done.

The Googlers collectively guaranteed Damore's huge settlement with their response to him. First, they violated his privacy by outing him as the author of the anonymous memo. Then the virtue-signalling managers issued memos to their teams PROVING that Damore faces a hostile work environment and announcing their intention to discriminate against him in terms of promotions, projects, and even willingness to collaborate with him as a co-worker. Some even made thinly veiled threats of VIOLENCE against him with their references to "punching Nazis." They all insisted in no uncertain terms that expression of "problematic" FACTS from biological science should be PUNISHED. The CEO himself issued a memo insisting that Damore's thoughts were "offensive and not okay." Then they FIRED the guy. Now evidence of internal conspiracies to discriminate against conservatives have leaked out.

What an absolute clusterf*ck for Google. SO much unwanted attention. And meanwhile they are already in trouble for actually NOT hiring enough women and people of color! LOL.

Corporate America is so completely pozzed that it can't NOT respond to truth-telling with rage-outs. The official policy of every Fortune 500 company is to discriminate against more qualified men in promotion decisions. Even questioning that is pretty much a firing offense. But Damore is about to get PAID. And then, as @fop says, these truth-telling memos will start sprouting like mushrooms in a forest. And corporations will realize that punishing their authors is expensive. Soon we'll be seeing sensitivity training forcing SJWs to respect conservative views.

Damore is a genius and a hero. But his target was actually surprisingly easy. The inherent contradictions in progressivism make it unstable.

SJWs literally WORSHIP these two conflicting points:
1) "We must lower standards so we can hire and promote more women and minorities."
2) "Women and minorities meet the highest standards."
Which is it?! LOL.

True, but to the limited extent that they're able to connect cause and effect, they will consider any amount paid (out of someone else's wallet) to be well worth the satisfaction they had at his firing.

Also, they will think (but probably not say on Google's internal network) that whatever this costs Google is simply justice for hiring such a hateful badthinker in the first place. Maybe some of them will even sue for the emotional distress Google caused them by allowing this to happen.

They have their own religion - one with many skins. It's one religion in particular which is hated, so much so that it's an idée fixe for them.

Thus you see feminists and (((Talmudists))) supporting the importation of an army of Musloid rapefugees. We see (((Talmudists))) line up to support (((Soros))), a traitor whose fondest youthful memories are helping the Nazis loot his tribesmen. You see alleged Marxists supporting massive monopolies like Google, Faceberg, Apple. You see SJWs switch back and forth between Randian libertardianism (when it favors their side) and open totalitarianism (when it favors their side). The ardent proponents of equality über alles are very much like Orwell's Napoleon the Pig when it comes to living up to their own alleged principles (some of us are more equal than others).

Conservatives have been clucking about the "hypocrisy" for decades, but when you finally realize what their real religion is all about, there's no hypocrisy at all. It only appears to be so because idiot conservatives refuse to comprehend that the SJW has a very different core value set and worships an altogether different spirit.

The funniest part is they are the ones who built a corporate employee only social media platform. They were practically begging for reams of evidence against themselves to be compiled in writing. I hope Damore's lawyers are swift in filling the lawsuit and getting hold orders written. Google even now is likely working overtime to try and purge the likely thousands of posts by their employees on that platform that display a clear hostile work environment. They fostered this environment by doing nothing when these wack jobs first posted something about punching Nazi's or intolerance for the right. Their employees started to feel like they were posting on facebook or twitter where they could freely express their political hatreds without repercussions.

Even now it sounds like their HR and legal departments are so inept that they have failed to instruct internal IT to shut down google+. The plug should have been pulled as his NRLB complaint was filed. Instead they are still allowing their employees to post tirades which will later be carefully curated to paint a nasty picture for the court.

Looks like some projection going on here. The automatic assumption that ethical (and legal) rules must be universalizable is not itself universal, but very much a right wing (and WEIRD) worldview.

For leftists (and most non-Western ethnic/ racial groups, especially the Tribe), the primary "ethical rule" is "who, whom." This rule is inevitably extended to legal interpretations as well.

Another way to frame it is via Sam Francis' concept of "anarcho-tyranny."

Of course, I believe Chill Wills would do the same thing, even if he were not drunk, because he is reckless and not quite bright enough to see the danger on his own.

That is what the radical and militant SJWs are doing, waving a flaming torch over an open barrel of gunpowder...to get a better look-see. Recovering alcoholics who join AA are encouraged to adopt the motto..."One Day At A Time". It really seems to be the motto of the radicals and militants who are SJWs. They have no past, only today. It does not matter what they did or said even yesterday, NOW is all that matters. The future? Don't worry about that. It can only be a bright and shiny Utopia, because it is inevitable and unavoidable, where everyone is as crazy as we are. So the past is whatever we need it to be and all that matters is the present. They manage to muddle through without shame because the past is a matter of opinion. There is no Truth and there are no Facts....and we SJWs are always going to do what makes us feel good right now.

Precedent means nothing to SJWs and they feel no obligation to be consistent in their philosophy. They can be racist and pro-black every day of the week and burn whites at the stake anytime they are pro-white.

They see no Trap because do not see evil or reckless precedent as creating any obligation on the future, but the right-wing most certainly does. The right-wing values Truth, and Consistency, and Fairness, and the Rule of Law. The SJWs will forget whatever is inconvenient, but the right-wing will remember everything.

We had a discussion a couple years back about whether the Left was ever truly committed to free speech (in the colloquial sense that people normally use the term; not the strict legal one). Some argued that the Left really did believe in those freedoms, but had allowed other ideological goals to override them (or something; I don't remember that argument very well). Others said the Left had mercenarily latched onto the First Amendment as a weapon, but always would have squelched dissenting opinions if they'd had the power.

I think it's clearer today which take was correct.

If I have interpreted it incorrectly I invite more information from those in the know.

I have this mental image of a massive class-action lawsuit by Google stockholders demanding a purge of managers at Google who are not carrying out their fiduciary duty, and it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Still, though, since we now have managers at Google going on record--records just made public, no less--boasting gleefully about their willingness to sabotage projects at the company in a manner that has the potential to affect Google's bottom line, would it then be appropriate to say that Google's CEO, one Sundar Pichai, has a fiduciary duty to the stockholders to relieve these individuals of their duties and replace them with persons who have, at a bare minimum, not boasted publicly of sabotaging their own employer?

But they have a duty to squelch such actions by their mid-level managers. As I see others have pointed out.

> I know there's a large swath of folks who disagree, and think we can work past this, but I really don't believe that, at all.

I don't think most people believe it any more. But you have to try, right up till the time trying becomes obviously useless. We're not there yet.

Now, if the left and the GOPe actually get Trump removed from office, we'll be there.

Does the SEC know? I complained about $TWTR on many occasions during Gamergate and the subsequent Sarkpuppet politburo created out of that.

Folks, I've been a shareholder of Google stock since the first quarter 2015. It has done very well for me. Maybe I should contact some people to seek a class action lawsuit by shareholders against Google?

You really don't want to do that. There aren't any non-SJWs at Google. It's the Stalinsts purging the Trotskyites. Both need to go, and as long as they're eating their own, pass them the salt.

I "give a damn." BTW, there is no comma after "founding."

We should refer to this as the Google Manifesto! That will piss them off more:

@140 Charles Martel

Everyone knows that Breitbart was founded by the Imperial Japanese Kempetai in collusion with the Masons and the Illuminati as preparation for the invasion of the Pacific Northwest. So it's a sensitive topic, obviously.

You talk like a fag and your shit's all retarded. Monomania ain't gonna impress the Supreme Dark Lord after he gives you a warning.

The problem is, the longer it gets delayed the more resentment builds and the greater the number of unanswered injuries inflicted. This will cause the retaliation to last longer and be more cruel.

Yes, there is. If the "then" of an "if-then" sentence is omitted, a comma replaces it.

Goy liberals are religious wackjobs . They're the descendants of John Brown and the like. They claim to be atheists because they think it's fashionable and they lack self awareness. Genuine atheists were people like Stalin and Honecker and their followers...actual atheists don't give a fuck if you honor the 'dignity' of victim identity groups. Only religious cranks do so.

I would dare say even our cruelty artist host does not endorse cruelty on the repentant. Repentant and unrepentant are going to be swept up when this thing kicks off.

Dude, check your glasses. I see a comma there. Or did you mean it offends your sensitive punctuation sensibilities?

Either way, no one cares about your opinions on commas, either.

Blogger Fen August 10, 2017 11:56 PM

Agreed. Any Senior Management with sense would be screaming "get out of the media cycle, get out get out get out!". But these kool-aide drinkers are oblivious.
