Castalia temporarily down

No worries. It's neither DDOS or deplatforming; we have partial access to the server. It's just a Wordpress database error; we may need to wait until tomorrow morning to get it resolved, though.

"It's just a Wordpress database error..."

That's what they WANT you to believe...

(Being light-heartedly facetious, not serious.)

@3

Sadly, your take is probably accurate, serious or no.

Wordpress can be finicky. Usually the problem is a bad plugin install/upgrade.

Out of curiosity: when's "The Art of the Argument" being released?

Failed insert corrupted a few tables. It's now mostly working, through some of the tabs are gone and need to be recreated. There may also be other errors we'll have to locate. A SQL repair operation is never absolutely 100% successful.

Check the XML backup as well...

WordPress is… well, to be honest, a terrible choice for a business to run on. The underlaying system is not conducive to properly handling monies or data-security/-consistency, in large part due to the implementation-language (PHP), but also due to the underlaying architecture — PHP plays “fast-and-loose” with data-types, which makes it unsuitable for anything that is particularly high-integrity, and lacks a proper fixed-point type (which implies screwing around w/ floating-point numbers or strings or both when handling monetary values)… and WordPress isn’t well-suited (in design) for the sort of system that you’ll likely be needing once your needs start becoming more intense.

Source: I worked maintenance on a hacked-together WordPress system extended to eBay-like functionality; I’m also interested in language-design and high-integrity computing.

My experience backs up these two articles.

OT: great letter/article in the Australian newspaper today from Jose Maria Aznar, former Prime Minister of Spain, about terrorism.

Speaking of Castalia House, any updated regarding the Calexit anthology announce in February? Is there a release date?

If it makes you feel better, I've been considering writing some of our internal services in Lua.

Unfortunately, the article in question appears to be paywalled.

Who charges for news these days? Is anyone buying?

Anyway, the major points were:

1) that terrorists have to be engaged and defeated, not hugged into becoming gender-fluid soy eaters

2) we should stop pretending we care about why they want to kill us, and just kill them first.

"All criminals have their reasons and all are irrelevant."

I have an Alternative Right blogspot site boo kmarked and I just tried to access it. It has been removed and the address is not available.

I am expecting a night if the long knives from the enemy. We will see.

@VD: when the Judeo-globalists do eventually 86 the Castalia site and this site, these alternatives may (or not) be useful (for awhile):

http://namecheap.com

http://bitmitigate.com

@simplytimothy: hundreds of WN/hardRight and related sites have been killed by the (((PTB))) since Charlottesville. There's a partial list over at http://counter-currents.com

Namecheap pussed out and booted DS for "inciting violence", so I wouldn't turn to them for new domain registration or hosting. I'm not rushing to pull my domains off Namecheap but as renewals come up I'll transfer them elsewhere. Where, I'm not sure, but I do not trust Namecheap anymore.

easyDNS might be a good choice. The CEO, Mark Jeftovic, doesn't seem like the type to give in to a bunch of crybaby SJWs. https://twitter.com/stuntpope

I've heard gandi.net is supposed to be good, but they're based in France and I don't really understand what legal complications that might raise if it came down to the question of "legal speech".

(The system 'ate' my original reply.)
Lua's a better choice, due to the strong-typing -- however, some consideration should be given to the fact that it has no integer- or fixed-point type.

Depending on what functionality you want, and/or the probability of hostile attack (which will probably increase as Castalia House gains prominence over SJW-infested publishing houses), I'd recommend Ada. -- The strong-typing and versatile type-system lend itself to more secure systems quite well. (eg You can use the type-system to validate formatting.)

If you're interested you can get a compiler; Ada Web Server (free, contains a template-engine); Dmitry A. Kazakov's Simple Component (Direct I/O B-Tree vs SQLite benchmark); and/or if you want to do “Realtime live server push web-app” there's Gnoga.

Speaking of DNSs, if you want to harden your system you could use the Ironsides DNS which is formally verified.

Lua 5.3 has integers.

Oh, I didn't know that. (As of 5.1 it didn't... seems like kind of a big change to put on a minor version increment.)

Gives an Inadequate Security message.

Not until it is in the public domain.
