Don't argue with Damore

You'd think a reporter would be aware that he was overmatched when he went to interview the author of the Google manifesto:
During an interview with Business Insider, Damore, who was fired from Google for publishing a viewpoint diversity manifesto, claimed he “was simply trying to fix the culture in many ways. And really help a lot of people who are currently marginalized at Google by pointing out these huge biases that we have in this monolithic culture where anyone with a dissenting view can’t even express themselves,” he continued, adding, “Really, it’s like being gay in the 1950s.”

“These conservatives have to stay in the closet and have to mask who they really are. And that’s a huge problem because there’s open discrimination against anyone who comes out of the closet as a conservative,” Damore explained. He sparred with Business Insider’s Steve Kovach, who tried to claim that Damore attacked women in his manifesto.

“I was simply talking about the population level distributions. And I specifically call out that we should never treat an individual differently based on this because there’s so much overlap,” stated Damore. “The document was simply trying to address why there may be fewer women in technology than men. And it never said anything about the women at Google being any different than the men at Google.”

This prompted Kovach to reply, “Not at Google. But broadly it made assumptions about women as a general population though, right?”

“It didn’t make assumptions. It stated scientific facts about the population level distribution,” Damore responded.

“OK. I mean, that’s obviously up for debate too,” Kovach claimed, forcing Damore to explain, “Not really. I mean, these are empirical facts.”

“The population level distributions are not up for debate,” he continued. “Those have been documented hundreds of times.”
Clearly Damore did not realize that Mr. Kovach did not like the population level distributions. Therefore, they were an assumption, ergo subjective, consequently wrong. You'd think these SJWs would, sooner or later, get suspicious about the statistical improbability of their being absolutely right every single time.

Of course, if they grasped statistics, they wouldn't be SJWs blithely refuting empirical facts as one man's assumptions.

More likely Mr. Kovach doesn't what those words mean. He literally doesn't know what a distribution is.

But I'm sure he f*king loves science.

I ran into this at a school. In the course of a required HIV/AIDs lesson (discussing basic safe/reasonable vs not-safe behavior scenarios), a student asked if the current scenario was asking about if it was safe for the guy or the girl. I said "great question, because the risks are different. Guys are, on average, bigger/stronger/faster, so he's likely at much less physical risk than she is." I added all the normal caveats about exceptions to the rule, etc. A couple of girls gave some pushback, saying in effect "well, in your opinion." I knew I was on firm factual ground, and gave counter-examples, and stood firm that on average it was true.

They complained to the principal.
The principal said you can't say that. It's sexist.
"But it's true," I replied. "and relevant, and on topic, and an important concept to understand for their personal safety."
The principal said you can't say that. It's sexist. you saw she was offended, and you didn't drop it immediately. It violates the human dignity policy.
"But it is true! It was relevant, on topic, and responsive to a student question!"
She was offended, therefore it was offensive, and you can't say that.

It made no difference. The district has gone FULL Orwell/Kafka. Not just "black is white, up is down," but "blue is 38.6 and up is Thursday" level bizarro.
In the name of tolerance they have many zero-tolerance policies.
In the name of inclusion anything they don't agree with is verbotten and excluded.
In the name of diversity no individualization of thought it permitted.
In the name of fighting racism, everyone but whites can be proud of their history.
In the name of fighting sexism reality must be denied and good things only said about non-men.
In the name of equality thumbs must be constantly put on the scales.
In the name of safety, education must be provided on everything dangerous... except for things you have a constitutional right to, like guns, which are prohibited.

Truly at the crossroads of Kafka Ave and Orwell St, with an overpass nearby built by Escher with plans drawn up by Salvador Dali.

One of the hardest things to grasp for those of use who can see reality is that there are people in the world who think that what they want to be true is their "reality". I think it is a mental illness.

I have not investigated this, but I would wager that the average leftist is much lower in IQ than the average realist. I would also wager that the average right-winger is, on average, higher in IQ than the leftist.

"It’s a 2,000-mile border, but you don’t need 2,000 miles of wall because you have a lot of natural barriers." - Donald Trump

"You'll need anywhere from 700 to 900 miles," he said.

"You know, we've already started the wall because we're fixing large portions of wall right now," he said. "We're taking wall that was good but it's in very bad shape, and we're making it new." - Donald Trump

600 miles of existing barriers being fixed up don't amount to a southern border wall.

So anywhere between 100 and 300 miles of extra border fencing would match what he is now suggesting.

This doesn't sound like what Donald Trump the candidate was promising, nor does it sound adequate.

@14. Just, it's a reflexive response to Atheism, particularly the materialistic varieties. It's also effective because, batshit insane as it is, it's actually still more sound than Materialism.

If you want to get rid of the relativistic/solipsistic parasite feeding on the dying carcass, you've got to burn the carcass of Materialism, once and for all.

@15. Johnny, coincidentally, you're one of those people. You don't even know that the word "fact" does not equal (!=) the word "truth". "Fact" has been used degeneratively in the English language for a long time now, due to Atheism's intentional abuse of it.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not just attacking or playing the contrarian to either of you guys. This is a very real problem, because at a very basic level, feeling does override reality (even if only so slightly). It does this because feelings/emotion/desire are a human being's motive. They provide the sole impetus to move a man.

Granted, most people have capable enough minds that they run their desires through that filter in an attempt to determine the best course for achieving as many of their desires as possible. This is why people don't behave like simple animals. However, no matter how many layers of logic and thought and reason and rationality and rationalization those desires are behind, they're still the engine pushing the whole train.

Materialism, on a very basic level, says that feelings are elemental bull**it. Unfortunately for materialism, this isn't exactly true. Feelings exist for a reason, and no one does anything without them. However, we need to understand that because of our human nature, those necessary and vital feelings are often twisted. We don't even know what we actually desire in many cases, and even when we do, we often desire something that neither we nor other people do nor can create.

Because as humans we are driven by desires that are either impossible for us to fulfill in and of ourselves, we often go all-in on things that we think will satisfy us but are temporary. This is where our desires become twisted and perverted into evil things, chasing after mirages that simply aren't what we thought they were.

This is why we require an outside entity to fulfill and remunerate us.

Anonymous Osprey August 20, 2017 12:19 AM

@38 -- The president's constitutional authority to decide which foreign governments to recognize seriously undermines Congress' power to decide whom we are at war with.

We have been at war with North Korea for 67 years. We are allied with the current governments of South Korea and Afghanistan. We are not disputing Iranian territory with Iran. And while we are rivals against the Syrian government/Russians/Iranians in Syria, we are not actively fighting them. Instead, we are fighting ISIS, which we are pretending is not a sovereign state.

So where is there a need for a declaration of war? Are you suggesting that we should extend diplomatic recognition to ISIS, just so that we can declare war against it?

They don't care to share that information with the world because it's in their interest--or the interest of their warped vision of justice--to claim it's actually 12 hours ago.

Or do we not call such people SJWs? Are SJWs only True Believers? Steve Sailer has lately been pondering the actual existence of self-aware Inner Party types like O'Brien in 1984. I have no doubt they exist. I wonder if we have to use different terminology for them.

There is always a price to pay. Causality pinballs on, and nature's laws always assert themselves in the end. The suffering and gnashing of teeth to come is guaranteed. Consequences will be doled out, and the earth will sup of ash and blood.

But. And this is the sad and disgusting, horrible and seemingly inescapable "but..." The consequences aren't immediate, and they'll be be distributed on the heads of innocent and guilty alike. A lot of those most deserving of nature's wrath will die in peace, having enjoyed the pleasurable benefits of ignorance, treachery, debauchery, etc. And children not yet born will bear pain and loss almost beyond our most grim imaginings.

We're complicit in this ourselves. We talk and talk. We let the enemy spin 3 lies for every 1 that we refute. We're blustering when we should be mustering. More innocents face nature's wrath tomorrow because we don't act in accordance with truth and exterminate the enemies who openly walk among us today.

You're like a baby, you want what you want when you want it
But after you are presented with what you want, you're discontented
You're always wishing and wanting for something
When you get what you want, you don't want what you get...
'Cause after you get what you want, you don't want what you wanted at all

@48-That article is a perfect encapsulation of the tunnel-vision that tricks people into thinking Nazis and commies are polar opposites. The fact that "socialist" appears in the acronym Nazi is because that name was a part of a "rebranding" effort to steal workers' votes away from communists, says the article. And there's the whole story, right there.

What really makes the Nazis "far right" is that they were to the slight right of commies and competing for the same constituency. They were rivals, and the Nazis were stealing their thunder! A rearguard action of the Old Order, or whatever, which made them not only reactionaries, but somehow Reaction itself.

Since the arch of history aimed toward some kind of socialism, nothing else mattered. Everyone from theocrats to classical liberals to the socialists of yesteryear were out of it. There was only one kind of socialism to the left and way, way over to the extreme of rightism, another kind of socialism.

Is this due anti-male sexism and female privilege and supremacy, or is it due to a stronger one-on-one nurturing instinct that females possess?

Why do females dominate this highly desirable field?
Is the female supremacy due to anti-male sexism and female privilege, or is it due to female's stronger innate sense of nurturing?

East Asians and dot Indians do much better economically than Whites in Western countries.
Is it due to Indian and Asian privilege or because they're significantly better in their sexual reproductive behavior resulting in stronger nuclear families with older, wealthier, wiser parents and a much better parent-to-child ratio?

That the numbers are not automatically taken as proof of this bias reveals the dishonesty of the Left and their arguments about ... well, everything.

And the crappier part is that the female-dominated teaching profession really does defend itself viciously, so that this domination will endure and perpetuate itself until it is destroyed.

When I was a kid, back in the dark ages (over 40 years ago), I had male 5th and 6th Grade teachers. There were more male teachers in what at the time was called "junior high school" and high school.

The left has gone full nematode. Time to disengage.

Because they will fall, and take down everyone around them

I laughed, but so true.

While nematodes are near the bottom of the biological pyramid, they destroy crops and kill organisms much larger than themselves. Also they work in concert with lower forms of life, bacteria. Sometimes the nematodes destroy the plant or kill the critter that they attack, but just as often it is the toxic bacteria they bring with them.

I just put down a bunch of nematodes to kill the Japanese Beetle grubs in my yard that the moles love. I'm using them to get rid of a much bigger problem.

Maybe we can sic SJW's on organizations that really need destruction.

Immigrants, minorities, LGBT, and women are sorely underrepresented within the ADL and SPLC. This is due to (((white))) male privilege and must be corrected immediately.

What's the source? I'd love to see the whole thing.

6th to 12th, I had one female teacher. She taught French.

@63 Select a unique phrase and search and the link is found. I searched this phrase: [ themselves,” he continued, adding, “Really, it’s like being gay in the 1950s ]

Also search this phrase: "Business Insider, Damore,".

Clearly Damore did not realize that Mr. Kovach did not like the population level distributions.

That's old data soon you wont be able to swing a dead cat in a govt office without hitting a niggerette with dual masters degrees in angry black women studies(combo of womyns & black studies)

emanation of the solipsist's imagination. The way you change a bad dream to a good dream is by believing the opposite as hard as you can.

I doubt many leftists are capable of lucid dreaming because you have to realize you are dreaming to take control

Is it due to Indian and Asian privilege or because

For Indians its lack of ethics a big healthcare fraud bust in NJ just took out some.

Steve Kovach: "My main takeaway: Damore doesn't understand why he was fired and probably never will."

Imagine having as little self-awareness as Kovach.

Where in the Constitution is "Police Action" defined? Most people want to say Afghanistan is the longest war in U.S. history but the Korean War never ended; it was just an armistice. To quote Infogalactic: "The armistice was signed on July 27, 1953, and was designed to "insure a complete cessation of hostilities and of all acts of armed force in Korea until a final peaceful settlement is achieved. No "final peaceful settlement" has been achieved yet." So technically we are still at war with North Korea.
