The trend is bigger than the man

As I've observed, pointed out, and argued repeatedly, the trends are much, much bigger than individual men or even individual movements:
He must have known what was coming. Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee, a pillar of the cowardly GOP Establishment, announced he would not be running for re-election on Tuesday [Republican Sen. Corker announces he won’t seek re-election, by Richard Lardner and Erik Schelzig, Associated Press, September 26, 2017]. Corker’s departure is widely being interpreted as a sign of the Establishment’s inability to control the GOP base, as the election of President Trump, the rise of nationalism and the emergence of alternative media outlets (such as Breitbart and VDARE.com) make it harder for cuckservatives to Republican primary voters in line [Sen. Bob Corker’s retirement is notable for when it’s happening, by Amber Phillips, Washington Post, September 26, 2017]

And now, we have the ultimate proof in Alabama. Judge Roy Moore, one of the most persistent targets of the Southern Poverty Law Center, is now the Republican nominee for the Senate. And he defeated incumbent Senator Luther Strange despite Strange being endorsed by President Donald J. Trump himself.... Even before Trump’s inauguration, when there were troubling signs the new President was surrounding himself with the Republican Establishment, it was clear that the President’s supporters would need to rise against Trump in his own name. The victory of Roy Moore is the best example so far of how this insurgency will play out.

And most importantly, it shows how the populist and nationalist movement is larger than Trump himself.

Trump’s advisors seem to know this. In the Fox News interview referenced above, Dr. Gorka claimed “no one voted for Trump, we voted for his agenda.” And during his speech in support of Moore, Bannon referenced Jeff Sessions, not Trump, as the “spiritual father of the populist and nationalist movement.”

But does Trump himself know this? Already, the Main Stream Media is trying to present this as a devastating defeat for the president personally. The New York Times kvetched about Moore’s social views and sneered that his victory “demonstrated in stark terms the limits of Mr. Trump’s clout” [Roy Moore Wins Senate G.O.P. Runoff in Alabama, by Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns, September 26, 2017]. Jason Le Miere at Newsweek suggested Trump had suffered his first major political defeat at the ballot box and hinted his political weakness could trigger his impeachment. [How Alabama Senate Election Results Could Trigger Trump’s Impeachment, September 26, 2017]

This wildly overstates the case. Trump had hedged his bets, suggesting at one point he made a “mistake” in endorsing Strange [Trump supports Strange, but says it may be “mistake,” Washington Post, September 25, 2017]. He also said he would “campaign like hell” for Moore if Moore won [Roy Moore: ‘I can’t wait’ for Trump to ‘campaign like hell’ for me, by Sean Langille, Washington Examiner, September 25, 2017].

It’s hardly a devastating defeat for President Trump when his supposed enemies are fanatically loyal to him and his “allies” can’t wait to stab him in the back.
People get caught up in the heat of the moment. It's easy to forget that the battles of last week, last year, and last month were, at the time, seemingly every big as important as whatever the battle du jour happens to be.

You can only ride the trends, you can't reasonable hope to control them. This is why it is foolish and futile to attempt to brand and spin and otherwise attempt to control a trend as narrative, because that is a category error. The main reason Alt⭐️Hero is going to be successful is not due to the quality of the storylines, the artwork, or the characters, but because it is in line with the winds of the zeitgeist at a time when Marvel and DC Comics are trying to fly directly against them.

If Trump is wise, he will not only recognize that he is not bigger than the movement, but that the movement is not bigger than the trend.

I'm so tired of hearing this phrase "rise of nationalism" and "nationalist" as if it were equivalent of "tree worshipping cannibal." What is the definition they're using when this term is used? Is it a thinly veiled term for racial supremacist? Are they really slandering people who simply love their country - because that is always what I thought a nationalist was.

Not into the whole 4D chess thing, but he probably backed Strange knowing Moore was going to win. That way he has plausible deniability. "See, I can be reasonable" all the while gaining the ally he really wanted. Too risky? Obviously not.

Corker’s departure is widely being interpreted as a sign of the Establishment’s inability to control the GOP base...

Many years ago, Kevin Baker related a story that I think captures the "screw you" spirit of the GOP base in 2017:

There is a story, a joke in some ways, an allegory in others, that dates way back. In it, a British Lord travels to the Frontier West, America in the 1800's. His horse throws a shoe on the trail, so at the first little frontier town he comes to, he finds a blacksmith's shop to have the shoe replaced. As he rides up, he sees a large, sweaty, filthy man hammering on a piece of red-hot iron. The Lord sits on his horse, waiting to be served, but the blacksmith doesn't pay him any attention and continues to work his iron. Finally, the Lord, outraged to have been ignored this way by an obvious servant, dismounts, approaches the 'smith, and taps the man on the shoulder with his riding crop.

"You, man!" he barks, "Who is your Master! I wish to have a word with him!"

The blacksmith turns, looks at the Englishman, spits a stream of tobacco juice on the point of the Lord's boot and says, "That sumbitch ain't been born."

That's one idea Americans share.

Who controls the GOP base? That sumbich ain't been born.

Corker's sudden departure would appear to strengthen Z-man's theory on what Trump is up to here. (No, it's not 5-D chess, it's just that he likely actually does understand who his real enemies are).

It was genius for the POTUS to back Strange not Moore, Moore was was solid (his time to shine). The reason he backed Str. is that he out to further destroy the media credibility and sink them financially. The POTUS is out to get the media via being subtle here while he's using twitter without subtly as he has he turned the NFL outside down. Beautiful.

The media and some Americans triggered, this status hasn't stopped, its been months of agony for some people, months of rejection, loss, emotional pain of their values, they are filled with hatred too, hatred is lethal for some peoples health.

Trump just gave true heretics false hope.

The delusional logically challenged triggered media will build up their base of never trumpers, alt left by this false narrative, Trump purposely backed Strange knowing what the media would do, hopefully the media keeps this narrative going; "we are winning! midterms will go left b/c of this single matter, look no one is supporting POTUS, no one likes Trupm, look at NFL, its all a referendum this, referendum that."

Meanwhile the left will continue to lose elections, individuals be more depressed, lose more heart and faith in the media and have nothing left to lean on but HRC and their pysch meds."

Alabama and Moore is a bit of an aberration. Strange hadn't been installed into the position by the voters so his incumbency wasn't much of a factor other than getting establishment financial support. You won't find many challenging candidates with the name recognition and credentials like Moore. Alabama is an outlier.

I think Corker is a sign of things to come in the mid-term. There will be more establishment cucks that look at the polling and decide to walk away and keep their campaign warchest than spend it all on a brutal primary fight.

"Jason Le Miere at Newsweek suggested Trump had suffered his first major political defeat at the ballot box and hinted his political weakness could trigger his impeachment."

Well, of course it could. I saw a headline this morning saying he will be impeached for expressing an opinion right in line with middle-America's about football players. Tomorrow they'll say he's about to be impeached for wearing odd-colored ties. These people have impeachment on the brain. For a man who keeps showing "troubling signs" of being too friendly with the establishment, the establishment sure is anxious to get rid of him early.

Blogger Cail Corishev September 27, 2017 1:43 PM

Failure to repeal Obamacare? Congress.

I read somewhere yesterday that it looks like a New Jersey Democrat senator is about to be convicted of something (naturally), which means he will be replaced by a Christie appointee, presumably a Republican. So that could make things interesting: would it mean they could pass an Obamacare repeal or replacement? Or would it mean they'd flush out another of McCain's traitors, who was able to hide with the Republicans last time because that vote wasn't needed?

Ram-Z-Paul notes a similar theme in the (((fake news))) coverage in a tale of two church shootings. It must be repeated: There is no actual double-standard in play. It only appears to be a double-standard to those who mistakenly assume that the SJWs in (((fake news))) operate under the old social-compact that shooting people in churches is wrong. That's not the case though, because the actual standard of (((fake news))) and their allies is a single standard - which they are increasingly open about: YT must die. Thus dindu Musloid killing white folks in church = good, while white drifter killing blacks in church = most evil event in world history. Same in Poland; In fact, when I was younger and I first started to write on usenet, and when I met old nationalist Polonus (Pole from USA) I used "endek" ("supporter for national democrats", byword for nationalist) as an insult and was suprised he is proud of the name. Idea is to remind people that antifa today are more similar to the worst kind of red army from 1945 than to american soldiers from D-Day (an anti-meme to "antifa 1945" memes).

http://s.ciekawostkihistoryczne.pl/uploads/2015/03/willibald-krain-plakat.jpg
Other templates to use with something akin to "antifa - since 1945" with soviets killing/raping children/women:

https://s.ciekawostkihistoryczne.pl/uploads/2017/04/you-cant-be-his-pal-340x340.jpg (template) (this one is actually from German propaganda poster aimed at Polish population)

Or do you think such memes would be ineffective or even counter-productive (as in american memory "red army" and "Soviet" might have still positive association)?

There are trying to associate nationalism with white supremacy, but they are now also doing the same with patriotism: http://www.theroot.com/patriotism-is-for-white-people-1818724099

They are also trying to dissociate "white supremacy" and "racism" from the concept of "hate". In other words, you might not have hate in your heart, and you might be a sweet, lovable person, and you may even be an ally: but if you're white, you're a white supremacist. It's in your blood, and the only path forward is to commit national suicide to undo the injustice.

Things are moving very quickly now. My intuition is that TPTB are done with the ballot box. Perhaps they saw what was happening out there with voters and are taking a different approach to hold on to power. I suspect they won't care much about 2018 and 2020 elections and will be busy working in other domains. Right now they are pounding the wedge hard with a sledge hammer.

This was no defeat for President Trump. BOTH candidates were supportive of the Trump agenda and Trump himself. Yes, Trump had endorsed Strange, but admitted before the election that it may have been a mistake. This could be good news too. Mistakes have advisor's names on them and whoever pushed Trump to endorse Strange over Moore has probably already been summoned to the Oval Office. One of the voices that pushed for Strange the hardest must have been Mitch McConnell, so it is actually his ass hanging out, not Trump's.

The voters of Alabama did not repudiate Trump or the movement that put him in the White House. They had a choice between one pro-Trump Senator or another pro-Trump Senator. Probably the white Evangelical vote in Alabama made the difference.

Part 2:

These next ideas could get you into trouble, but you'd probably get away with them and they only take very few people to accomplish:

How about, drop a few pallets on the road. People usually won't drive over them and they are laying around any industrial park to be had for free. You could do that while walking. There is so much you could do to disrupt traffic.

Heck, people are such stupid rule followers now that even stringing "do not cross" tape between two telephone poles would probably work, people probably would not drive through it or get out of their cars to take it down. The bottom line? BE CREATIVE.

How about, wear a hard hat, (which is a license to do anything) and a reflective vest, and block off the street with portable construction barriers. Even traffic cones would work. Put up a sign with an arrow. Make sure the sign has an NFL logo on it somewhere. Do it right where there is a side street you can divert traffic down - into nowhere. They'll believe it, and think it is official.

Or here's a good one - carry a chain and lock up to an entrance gate, and if the gate can be closed, close it yourself and lock it. This would be so unexpected you'd get away with it the first time, and it would jam everything completely until someone managed to cut the lock off, which could take an hour to arrange.

BE CREATIVE

Part 1:

HOW TO DESTROY THE NFL. MAKE THIS GO VIRAL

This is a great idea! Pass it on!

How to destroy the NFL. Quickly. And easily. Traffic jams

Hi. former navy nuclear machinist mate here. Born with a decent brain on my shoulders. Trained to use it by the navy.

So, been crunching numbers. NFL is not afraid of a boycott. Because left has deep pockets. Just not enough of us to hurt them financially no matter how long and hard we boycott.

And a veteran's day boycott? It will just drive prices of tickets down. And the left will then buy them cheap and fill the seats. Just making it worse. So, we just can't empty the stadiums with a boycott. No matter how hard we try.

So, I approached the situation strategically. Like a military operation. What could we do to really hurt the NFL? Disrupt them.

And I realized the NFL has a huge weakness.

TRAFFIC

NFL players want to have a peaceful protest? Well, we can too. Only takes a few people to peacefully protest an NFL game by shutting down traffic into and out of the stadiums. Just park in the traffic stream and pop the hood.

I can see it now. Huge traffic jams caused by cars, trucks, you name it 'broken down' blocking all the routes into and out of the stadiums.

With huge traffic jams... cameramen, equipment, players, and of course fans, won't be able to make it to the games. The stations will be unable to air the games. Even a one or two hour delay will destroy their profits as advertisers won't want to waste ad dollars.

The NFL will be destroyed in... a couple of months.

And there is literally nothing they can do to stop it. Because... it's just a mechanical breakdown, or at most - peaceful protesting.

There you go

My comment: I think a TV boycott would have a huge impact, but that alternative problems would make it even better.

Here's a good one, but it would take luck to get a lot of dis-associated people doing it: Fill your gas tank up, and then go join the traffic. When you get close to the stadium, make a turn, drive back a ways, and re-join traffic. Drive like a grandma over and over again. If enough people were circling, it would effectively lock out people from going to the game, and it would be impossible to bust you for obstructing traffic.

The following would take fewer people (right down to even only one) person to make them effective, but you could get busted. Safest ideas first:

Simulate a real problem. Here's what you do. Find the fuse for the fuel pump ahead of time and pull it when the car is in the right spot. Tie a string around it ahead of time and put it back in, then at the right time by the stadium just pull the string and hide the fuse. If your car is older, find the ignition fuse and pull that. Fuel pump will be less obvious. Also, if you can find a way to jam the wheels on your car that no one will notice (even with it out of gear and the brakes off) DO IT so it can't be pushed out of the way. An easy one would be a 4 wheel drive with all wheels locked, with the transmission set in the low position. It would still be pushable, but it would be awful. Have the tires a little flat too. Check it ahead of time to make sure the ruse works.

Also, if you can get 10 or 15 buddies to cooperate, be together in traffic and have everyone break down all at once. There would be no place to put all the cars without causing a huge delay no matter what.

Also, you could just be a turd, sitting there with a perfectly working running car, and just not move. But you'd lose your excuse to be blocking traffic, but then again, a few people doing it in sequence would cause absolute havoc.

HERE'S A GOOD ONE: Have a whole chain of people "go to the game," get to the gates, and when you are right in the gate to the parking area, suddenly discover you forgot your tickets and just sit there like the guy who never pulls away from the ATM until long after he's done.

There is a LOT you could do to screw traffic into an NFL game, BE CREATIVE.

Probably OT mostly
Spanish government using DNS blocking on .cat sites because independence vote.

Madrid and Barcelona are playing a game of mouse and .cat with pro-independence websites.

After a number of .cat websites covering the referendum were aggressively shut down by the authorities, pro-independence groups set up new websites at different addresses, including referendum.party and ref1Oct.eu.

Now it appears that those websites are being partly blocked within Spain – putting informational websites on a par with copyright infringing sites like The Pirate Bay and extremist Islamic websites.

The website of the National Catalan Assembly at assemblea.cat was also shut down and for a while displayed a message from the Spanish military police announcing in Spanish and English that the domain has been "seized pursuant to a seizure warrant." The domain has since been redirected to assemblea.eu, outside the purview of the Spanish authorities.

PuntoCat, the .cat registry, was raided by police, computers taken and staff detained. In 4GW terms Madrid continues work hard at losing this conflict. They should have contacted Faceberg and Goolag for advice on how to limit dissent on the interwebs.

Not even close. They actually needed the quotation marks, because otherwise most people see civilized white protesters vs disrespectful black football hooligans.

If it were a halfway good meme, it'd get the point across with pretty much just the pictures. In addition, it's not even remotely truth-aligned, because if it had been, it would have said something more like "leftist plant" and "traitorous f***tards".

NFL players want to have a peaceful protest? Well, we can too. Only takes a few people to peacefully protest an NFL game by shutting down traffic into and out of the stadiums. Just park in the traffic stream and pop the hood.

Your point is well made, but let's think this a little further. Would it not be even more effective to trigger the enemy (SJWs, BLM, Antifa) into acts which would result in the desired effect?? (Collapse of converged enemy institution NFL and more awakening of stupefied whites, who've been eating shit-sandwiches and guzzling Rev. Jones' grape-drank for several decades)??

Why take the risks of doing the job yourself if there are cadres of the enemy who can do it for you far more effectively. After all, if Y.T. Rayciss (aka Jim Snow) were to be arrested for disrupting traffic to an NFL high-holy day temple ceremony, the cloud people would throw his pale arse into the nergoubliette of prison with no chance of appeal or escape as a 'ter-r-r-r-rst' (where he'd be raped to death in short order by Shitavious et al). If something triggered BLM to crash the high holy day of golden dindu worship, no charges would be brought, nor would the prosecutors, badge-gang goondas and assorted lackeys or lickspittles even think of doing so.

Was listening to Steve Bannon and his co-host on Breitbart radio take calls from Alabama and elsewhere regarding the election. The callers are energized activists and will be a political force for years to come. They face huge obstacles and powerful enemies, no doubt, but anyone operating in American politics will have to account for them.
It may not be exactly they who save Western Civ., but they will, at the least, provide breathing space for those who come next. The callers were middle-American, salt of the earth sorts, all to the RIGHT of Bannon.
Do men make trends or do trends make men? I generally accept that we are tossed by the tides of history, as I enjoy looking for patterns. But... a small group of Americans has made international news in a primary election. I am impressed by them. Brave men at crucial moments can make history. What if the Saxon shield wall had held at Hastings?
Perhaps they won because they rode the trend, but they could have stayed home and lost.

Great Firewall of China gets taller and more personal

Jeff Bezos blog explains
Last month, the Cyberspace Administration of China effectively ended online anonymity here by making Internet companies responsible for ensuring that anyone who posts anything is registered with their real name.

It has cracked down on the VPN (virtual private network) systems that netizens have used to jump the firewall and evade censorship, with Apple agreeing to remove VPN providers from its Chinese App Store in July and authorities detaining a local software developer for three days last month for selling similar services.

This month, authorities dramatically expanded their controls over what people say in private online chat groups, making anyone who sets up a chat group legally responsible for its content and requiring Internet companies to establish systems to rate and score the online conduct of users — to ensure they follow the Communist Party line and promote “socialist core values.”

I wondered if Trump's calculus was that by supporting Strange he'd create a win-win scenario. Assuming Strange won, the establishment would owe him one. If Moore won, Trump's agenda would be strengthened. This could make sense but it has obvious weaknesses. There's no way to make the establishment honor a debt like that, but with Trump's talk of negotiation I wouldn't be surprised if he was gullible enough to expect honor among thieves. And maybe even worse, Trump risks strengthening crappy candidates, losing faith with his base (he can talk about loyalty all he wants but he isn't showing any to his base by supporting fools like Strange), and burning political capital.

If that wasn't his intention then I really don't know what he's thinking. He could just be getting bad advice. Problem is, he's a political moderate with common sense positions. I don't see him as all that different from Bill O'Reilly or Adam Corolla ideologically but that also makes knowing how far he's willing to go in compromise difficult.
