Happy Thanksgiving

I have much for which to be thankful to God this year. The Castalia House team has performed brilliantly. The Infogalactic team has not only kept the trains running on time, but has continued to march steadily towards the long-term strategic objectives. The Alt★Hero campaign succeeded well beyond anyone's expectations and a team is now in place that shows every sign of being as good as the other two teams. And the seeds for Voxiversity have been planted.

Above all, this community has demonstrated its remarkable ability to make a difference through commitment, discipline, enthusiasm, and faith. I thank God for all of you, especially those of you who don't believe in Him yet.

  8. One of the many things that I am so Thankful for is that this blog exists. Even though I don't comment here very often, as a voracious daily reader here, I am amazed by the insights I have been exposed to by not only Vox, but many of the regular contributors to this site. They have helped me so much as I go out and help spread redpill as many people as I can. Thanks to all of you!

  17. We Gather Together

    We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing;
    He chastens and hastens His will to make known;
    The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing;
    Sing praises to His Name; He forgets not His own.

    Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
    Ordaining, maintaining His kingdom divine;
    So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
    Thou, Lord, were at our side, all glory be Thine!

    We all do extol Thee, Thou Leader triumphant,
    And pray that Thou still our Defender will be;
    Let Thy congregation escape tribulation;
    Thy Name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!

  19. A Connecticut Thanksgiving Proclamation

    State of Connecticut
    By His Excellency Wilbur L. Cross, Governor

    Proclamation

    Time out of mind at this turn of the seasons when the hardy oak leaves rustle in the wind and the frost gives a tang to the air and the dusk falls early and the friendly evenings lengthen under the heel of Orion, it has seemed good to our people to join together in praising the Creator and Preserver, who has brought us by a way that we did not know to the end of another year. In observance of this custom, I appoint Thursday, the twenty-sixth of November, as a day of

    Public Thanksgiving

    for the blessings that have been our common lot and have placed our beloved State with the favored regions of earth -- for all the creature comforts: the yield of the soil that has fed us and the richer yield from labor of every kind that has sustained our lives -- and for all those things, as dear as breath to the body, that quicken man's faith in his manhood, that nourish and strengthen his spirit to do the great work still before him: for the brotherly word and act; for honor held above price; for steadfast courage and zeal in the long, long search after truth; for liberty and for justice freely granted by each to his fellow and so as freely enjoyed; and for the crowning glory and mercy of peace upon our land; -- that we may humbly take heart of these blessings as we gather once again with solemn and festive rites to keep our Harvest Home.

    Given under my hand and seal of the State at the Capitol, in Hartford, this twelfth day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and thirty six and of the independence of the United States the one hundred and sixty-first.

    Wilbur L. Cross
    By His Excellency's Command: C. John Satti, Secretary

    Grouse? Fantastic!

    I must confess: this year I didn't raise a bird but bought one a neighbor raised. One year we ate guinea fowl I raised - they're like tiny turkeys.

    I've found I'm much better at growing vegetables/fruits/roots than growing animals, though. Keeping the predators out is a pain in the neck. Everything wants to eat tasty, stupid birds.

Those don't exist.......sorry that threw me...I give thanks to my ancestors who fought in the revolutionary war and all those after, if it wasnt for them i wouldnt exist. I give thanks for voices like Dr. Peterson for helping me understand that "I need to clean my room."

    I hope everyone has a enjoyable Thanksgiving. God bless.

  76. Well the Cowboys have only one thing to be thankful of: That this disaster of a game is finally over with, 28-6 against the Chargers. The attendance was announced as 23k (in a stadium that seats 80k for football) - most of which were headed for the exits after the 3rd.

  80. @85 David, I've had great success controlling animal-killing pests using a combination of cage-type live traps and wire snares. Rather than using bait, I either arrange obstacles to channel the unwanted critters into the traps or I put the traps on trails the critters like to use. I've never had a coyote get into a cage-type live trap but they will walk right into a snare. The smaller cage-type traps work well with raccoons and opossums. I would say this is a much easier and more effective pest control technique than simply trying to spot them and shoot them.

    The only downside to the wire snares is that they're dangerous to livestock, pets, and people. So I really wouldn't recommend deploying those in an area where children are at all likely to be.

  83. From Conservative Treehouse:

    Thanksgiving Prayers From St. Basil…

    Posted on November 23, 2017 by Menagerie

    A few prayers from St. Basil.

    On Giving Thanks to the Creator:

    “As thou takest thy seat at table, pray. As thou liftest the loaf, offer thanks to the Giver. When thou sustainest thy bodily weakness with wine, remember Him Who supplies thee with this gift, to make thy heart glad and to comfort thy infirmity. Has thy need for taking food passed away? Let not the thought of thy Benefactor pass away too.

    As thou art putting on thy tunic, thank the Giver of it. As thou wrappest thy cloak about thee, feel yet greater love to God, Who alike in summer and in winter has given us coverings convenient for us, at once to preserve our life, and to cover what is unseemly. Is the day done? Give thanks to Him Who has given us the sun for our daily work, and has provided for us a fire to light up the night and to serve the rest of the needs of life…”

    On Eating:

    “When you sit down to eat, pray. When you eat bread, do so thanking Him for being so generous to you. If you drink wine, be mindful of Him who has given it to you for your pleasure and as a relief in sickness. When you dress, thank Him for His kindness in providing you with clothes. When you look at the sky and the beauty of the stars, throw yourself at God’s feet and adore Him who in His wisdom has arranged things in this way. Similarly, when the sun goes down and when it rises, when you are asleep or awake, give thanks to God, who created and arranged all things for your benefit, to have you know, love and praise their Creator.”

    On Worldly Troubles:

    “Troubles are usually the brooms and shovels that smooth the road to a good man’s fortune; and many a man curses the rain that falls upon his head, and knows not that it brings abundance to drive away hunger.”
