Alabama special election

Roy Moore leads by 6 percentage points over Doug Jones with 37 percent of precincts fully reporting.

52.3% Moore
46.3% Jones

The fact that Moore is winning despite the fact that the entire national media and half the Republican Party has been mercilessly attacking him demonstrates how much the media's influence has faded in recent years.

Good. I think they saw themselves as Kingmakers after Obama. Obama was nothing without them.

That's great news. Let's hope this lead stays wide after Birmingham, Huntsville, and Mobile go through.
This will be a huge celebration. Not just because of the win; the SJW freak outs will be enjoyable.

"Folks, our model thinks that the GOP may have a big turnout problem.
The three, white, GOP counties have fallen far short of our turnout estimates--including two under 75% of our estimates.
That's what the big swing in our estimate is about."

This is the NY Times Nate Cohn's explanation for why they are giving Jones a 76% chance to win.

There's nothing like an election to put an end to partisan navel-gazing. Dems have been desperately craving a loss in every special election as a referendum on Trump, trying to cargo-cult their way into the 'blue wave', but I suspect they'll be disappointed. Making ho-hum elections like these a national spectacle only makes what would have been a landslide a narrow victory for the Republicans. And for what point? A moral victory..?

You can throw red meat to your base like this, but you can't live on meat alone. Dems will have to find a real victory, sooner or later, before their base gives up in despair...

Anonymous Sensei December 12, 2017 9:36 PM

If Alabama can be converged, it's over.

Normal people don't vote based on the big picture; if it depended on the voting populace to democracy their way out of this it would have been over before it started.

Moore wasn't universally liked before all the allegations, and many people like nothing better than to see a grandstanding old moralizer humbled, even if it hurts themselves in various ways. MPAI.

Blogger Jeff aka Orville December 12, 2017 9:37 PM

You must mean the model for Alabama, which just started at 100% for Trump because of "R" after the name.

In Michigan, Wisconsin, PA, it was into the wee hours. It did the hard dance left and then turned right, but they had those three sitting at left 1/3 for most of the night and then a final, rapid swing to the right.

NYT's turnout model system worked well in 2016 on a General Election. Special elections are always wonky. And that turnout model looks busted. Up 8% at 65% reporting means Jones would need an average of 16% victory in every precinct left to return.

Looks to be around 27-30% turnout, which is why some models will bust in that situation.

Anonymous johnc December 12, 2017 9:48 PM

Special elections are almost always tighter given the "base" shows up more in proportion to General Elections. This has also been one of the ugliest smear campaigns in American history with maybe 100 million spent to defeat Moore.

GOP better come up with some kind of a ground game/ground plan or they are going to get their asses kicked in 2018. This is twice--VA and AL--where the Dems outspent and out organized the GOP. And the resistance is going to be VERY emboldened now...

So, GOP needs to fight back. Or Trump is going to lose Congress in 2018 and there will never be a wall.

Exactly. This isn't an isolated case. Everything the Democrats have been doing since before Inauguration Day -- the riots, the protests, "The Resistance", the special counsel, the non-stop anti-Trump hysterics -- it all serves a simple purpose: get their base spun up and out to vote.

Perhaps Trump's biggest mistake was to remove Sessions from the Senate. He has been an absolutely worthless Attorney General, and he would have been better as a reliable vote in the Senate.

In the end, this was a risk—albeit a small one—which has failed spectacularly.

I believe Trump relies heavily on those around him, and I believe he has a good sense of who to support. But he has been taking a lot of terrible advice, and I hope he takes the gloves off soon. If he needs to clean house, then do it. Dump ALL of the cucks around him and start firing every agency bureaucrat that stands in his way.

It is time for scorched earth, or his presidency is done.

Anonymous Gen. Kong December 12, 2017 10:47 PM

Franken will have to resign for sure now, and the Dems will spend the next year going after Trump for the sexual allegation stuff. Nothing will get done in the Senate as Corker and Flake will make sure that Trump's afenda is stalled.

When are you going to get it though your head?? The Gay Old Pedos did not back Moore in any serious way. As can be seen above, the Israel-firster types actually voted for the Globalist asshat Doug Jones. They have every intention of handing the congress to the D-jersey crowd in 2018. They still abide by a 1983 consent decree which has the effect of legalizing massive vote-fraud. They are, and have always been, a fake opposition party. There will likely be an attempt to impeach Trump on (((fake news))) allegations of Russia!!. As Z-Man notes, the blackrobed mandarins on the Supreme Court will likely force the baker to bake cakes for the Sodomites. To quote from Z-man's logical take:

What makes this case frightening to the Left is that there is no way for the court to rule in favor of the baker, that does not undermine the foundation of the modern special rights movement. Let’s say they carve out a religious “exception” to the laws providing homosexuals with special status. The court is, in effect, saying that religion ranks higher than sexual proclivity. The gays move down a peg. What happens when the court has to choose between Jews and Nazis? Or Muslims and Jews? It quickly becomes untenable.

Franken will not resign. It seems more obvious now, in light of what's happening in AL, that the 'controlled burn' is really a gambit to remove Trump and bolster feminist cred at the same time.

I notice that the concern trolls have come out.

Of course, the loss of the Alabama Senate seat is worrisome. But this is no Blue Wave. The recent elections in Virginia were won by Democrats in a Blue State--a state that went for Hillary Clinton. Don't forget the elections before that--I think there were 4--that went Republican.

Democrats will be defending more Senate seats than Republicans, and some of those Democrats will be running in states that voted for Trump.

This Alabama election does not mean that Obamacare won't be repealed, and that the Wall won't be built. The future course of human actions is the most uncertain of things. We have a major election cycle in 2018, and a Presidential election in 2020.

I think the demeanor of Roy Moore that hurt him--and I am not referring to the sexual misconduct allegations, which I don't believe. More like his off-the-cuff remarks.

Politicians on our side should act like Reagan in demeanor, calm and unflappable.

Indeed. But one more thought on that – I wonder if there was a window of time in which Trump could have gotten Sessions to resign, and then run for his own Senate seat again. Surely he would have won easily. But you're right, it's over now.

The SJW shit we all love to mock has elected a literally-who abortion supporter in ruby red Alabama. This is a disaster. The only answer I can see is to adopt their SJW tactics and use them against them. This election needs to be analyzed to death and the key moments uncovered. Meme magic may have worked in 2016, but that is old now. What is successful TODAY is all that matters.

Whatever we do, it needs to be perfected and carried out with laser focus during the primaries as well as the general. It's less than 11 months away. Redpilling the masses is a slow process, while we need to make sure there is a country left to wake them up to. Any candidate or politician who serves that purpose is good enough—for now.

The really sad part about this: it ended up being just like a Clinton plurality, not an outright majority. And not only that, Jones couldn't even win by a full percentage point. To me, that means that it was more than just people wanting to cuck out or some other garbage; there were people that just didn't want any part of this proverbial s--- show.

Lots of lessons to be learned from this. Sure, the "Resistance" will be emboldened, but the idiots that decided to step out in front of the bus already overplayed their hand. Keep in mind this was only one race, as well. It's a hell of a lot easier to sink resources into an isolated instance than it is 468 of them.

Agree with someone earlier in the thread that Brooks should have been the candidate here. Moore has always had a history of not being able to finish at higher offices statewide in elections like these; the allegations just happened to be more of a deciding factor.

Depressing.

It's thinking like this (I believe it's called "projection") that got us to where we are. As a group women will believe anything, no matter how unfair, illogical, inconsistent, or ridiculous, as long as it results in resources flowing to them. The flaw in your hope is that this proposed situation doesn't benefit women absolutely and, therefore, will not be allowed to happen. You will be forced to endure the company of women, by law, just as they will have the legal right to ruin you on a whim. The legal endgame is for any woman to be able to destroy any man by pointing at him, and anything preventing this from happening is inherently antifeminist. The whole complex of ideas that men use to deal with each other without getting murdered (honesty, loyalty, fairness, law, etc.) isn't relevant to women, because they mostly aren't going to die if they do bad or stupid things. Someone will bail them out, or at least let them off with a beating and a rape.

There's not going to be a silver lining for men, because why would there be? Male projection and wishful thinking is what got us female suffrage in the first place. Wasn't there a story about this in that whosywhatsit?

He should therefore not be ruled out yet, but it's absurd to think he can really do much of anything than buy some time. The evidence is mounting that Trump -whatever his actual intentions may be - has very little control over the executive branch. The deep-state has him boxed in. Let's hope there's some Divine intervention, because it will be needed. Trouble is, far too many of the religious types worship an idol - Judeo-Christ - erected by Satanists.

I think Christians should take on a generally defensive strategy instead of relying on the old blowhard reactionary tropes we have been stuck with seemingly forever. This will have to come from the bottom not the top in the usual vote farming scam

It's probably 2021-2022 before the first "you're a race traitor for voting for a Dem" is attempting at White Male voters. But we'll get there soon enough.

Bigger problem is, clearly, the GOPe for the time being. They're pretty much the reason for all of the close losses that have added up.

GOPe has always been the primary target for 2018 and probably 2020. D seats along the way are gravy. A purgin' is in order.

See this story on Gateway Pundit:

"Matt Drudge Breaks His Silence After Shocking Judge Roy Moore Loss"

THE STINKING SODOMITE DRUDGE MUST PAY.

@182 Gen. Kong

Trump is the media PsyOps himself. It let's many things happen without the Media ever giving it any much thought. The Swamp still has a massive say in what is going to happen, but Trump can do quite a lot because they weaponized the Presidency. Have some patience on that aspect.

Blogger Nakota Publishing December 12, 2017 11:19 PM

Correction, was rooting for Moore. Like Goebbels advised, they trotted out the Big Lie until people believed it.

Something else: how much money did the Democrats pour into this race? They don't have that much to begin with, because Pres. Trump has been systematically dismantling their funding infrastructure. Spending millions on a Senate seat that will almost certainly flip back to red in two years seems a little...irresponsible?

They think they can get Trump with accusations of sexual harassment (it looks like the Russian collusion story is decomposing rapidly), but the women that Meghan Kelly interviewed could only complain about Trump "leering" at them while they were in a beauty contest, and that he asked for one of their phone numbers. None of that is sexual harassment.

Burning GOPe to the ground? In progress.

MAGA > Democrat >>> GOPe Traitor

Funny!

As long as it has nothing to do with legislation (you know, governing) Trump will be fine. Everyone knows (and that means people in his administration) that Trump is a dolt with no clue how to govern a country, let alone move an agenda. He simply doesn't know what he's doing.

But let me make a prediction. The next Trump tweet after he has 7 or 8 more diet cokes, some McDonalds and choclolate layer cake will be:

"Bad Fake Election. Fake Voters! Hillary!! Obama!!"

Funny!!

"Alabama is the cuck capital of the US"

You have no idea. The South has been cucked since 1865.

Anonymous Looking Glass December 12, 2017 11:27 PM

@189 cavalier973

It'll be next year before we know the final figure, but it's going to be between 80-100 million against Moore. Probably 3-5 million will be Pro-Moore.

Which is why it tells us the GOPe wants to throw it all.

As for Trump, he was never a "God & Guns" politician, so the attacks didn't work in the same way. The attack vector hurt Moore than it did Trump, plus the General operates a lot more on personal economic interests than Special Elections which turn on the person's popularity.

In other news, did you hear about the GOPe cuck that rapes children? I can't believe you haven't heard the rumors, it's going to break soon.

Anonymous RJ December 12, 2017 11:27 PM

@Roll Tide

You're too stupid and ignorant to realize that the President doesn't pass legislation, the House and Senate do.

Anonymous Looking Glass December 12, 2017 11:31 PM

@192 Roll Tide

:) You'll always be a worthless excuse for a human. To go Christ and repent of your sin & save yourself, thus you won't be worthless.

I know you won't, at least in this instance, but may the Spirit of the Lord convict your soul of the emptiness that you feel. And may you cease to stuff that pain with the drugs & alcohol.

1st Moore is an incredibly polarizing person whose views while sound to me and thee, don't appeal to most.

2nd The Alt Right is a radical movement and operationally far more similar to the Left than the Republicans in that manner. Also as WMD noted Republicans are lazy and hate doing things. They want Silent Cal but a man like that is useless in 2017, real Conservatism requires constant activism . The best example of this is the anti abortion people. They didn't entirely win but they made it damn difficult to set up an abortion mill in many parts of the county. They fought, bled and died for that belief. And yeah we've been over that issue before, I may not agree with what they fought for but they fought hard and won victories, That alone is worthy of admiration. If the Right fought everything like that, the Left would lose everything.

#3 Understand the Republican party as a whole are cowards who fear any sort of real change and are lazy, many are old and can't cope with any stress or change and the rest are basically corporate stooges and looters . They don't want to win and when they do can't and won't take responsibility for anything. They just want to get in office, make some bucks and that is about it. You can't count on them to vote for what we want because they don't want what we want even when they pretend to support us

3rd Who the heck thinks that anything wrong with this country can be solved with votes? In the end it will come down to force the sooner that the Right accepts that and finds ways to build that force without the .gov knowing the better. Doesn't mean anyone should start shooting, doesn't mean that you shouldn't start voting only that unless you personally are willing to sacrifice a lot more than you currently have, probably everything for a certain posterity you are not going to get it. I can't tell you its time but unless you know what qualifies as "time" there is a concentration camp in your or your child's or grandchild's future

4th The mainstream Right and emergent parts of the . Alt Right is crippled in its ability to understand collective solidarity and action and the benefit of symbols . The Left is not. Learn this. Lets say a university lets call it Generic U shall we creates political views the Left hates, given political power they'll gladly destroy it, c.f all those statues, The Right ought to do the same, imagine if a University created Leftists and bad jurisprudence and knew it would be subject to eminent domain , removal of accreditation or if Leftists companies lost the ability to get government contracts . Think loyalty oaths, think reprisals think using the same methods for a real end goal

The last is the most important, have a damned goal . Let me repeat have a damned goal you can articulate . The Right doesn't need utopia that won't happen under any human rule but simple achievable goals are doable

My recommendation is pre 68 Demographics, elimination of women's suffrage and a populist morally Conservative state. You may have other goals but keep it simple and keep moving in that direction at all times.

Lastly yes its fine to work to get the votes , unless people are willing to shoot and they are not yet, you have to. Just understand every single decent and moral act will be resisted fully by the people who fear change above all else. We know change is coming either through collapse or bullet and noose or both but they can't handle the change, And no doubt just like Marie Antoinette they won't understand what is happening when it all falls down.

The question for me is *why* did Trump not see this as a must win seat? What else is in the calculation?
