They knew all along

Ronald Reagan and the Queen of England discussed economics and the prospects for the future in 1991.
The footage begins with the former president asking if the coffee being served is decaffeinated. The Queen calls replies 'No, it's ordinary' before calling over a waiter to request some, then telling Mr Reagan 'We try our best. It's coming.'

Their conversation then turns to economics.  Mr Reagan, who finished his second term as president in 1989, told the British monarch: 'Now if you’ve got two thirds... paying for the bureaucrats and give only one third to the needy people, something's wrong there.'

The Queen responded by saying that 'democracies are bankrupt' because of such policies.

'But you see all of the democracies are bankrupt now, because of the way the services have been planned for people to grab,' she told him.

'I know, we tried to get some of these things changed and reduce them,' said Reagan.

'For example, we have a rule to this day, that a supervisor's salary is based on the number of people he supervises,' he continued.

'Well now, you have a group of people that have no interest in reducing the payroll, even if they can, because it will reduce their salary.'

The Queen, who had hosted the event for Florida's grandest society including another former US president - Jimmy Carter - agreed.

'Obviously, yes. It's extraordinary, isn't it? I think the next generation is going to have a very difficult time.'
The answer, obviously, was to flood the West with credit and third world immigrants, because monetary and population inflation are good for the economy. It's interesting, though, that both public figures already knew that which eluded the public and most opinion-leaders for another 17 years.

The view tends to be clearer from the top. Especially if you have the intelligence to get there and rule competently.

The ruling competently part tends to imply you can see through the bullshit. The being at the top part means you can call people on the bullshit and get the truth out of them. The public tends to not have either advantage.

That's honestly a strange conversation to have in that type of setting, I have to say, though both would have been privy to the economic analysis that's actually insightful. Thus, they'd have known a lot more, yet we'd get a huge boom a few years later from the Tech explosion.

I see Reagan telling the queen that he tried and failed. That's been my sense of the matter the whole time. He was sworn in with the famous declaration, "The government IS the problem!" And he did fight to reverse its course and shrink its footprint in our lives, but his victories were incomplete. And sometimes damaging, such as his amnesty deal where he got ripped off (and listed it as the greatest regret of his presidency). Decisive victory was left up the following generations. Then we got Papa Bush, Clinton, Dubya Bush, Obama. Trainwreck. That's left a pretty tall order for Trump, and lots of lost and critical time.

Trump needs to take out his enemies. This is something that Reagan could not understand.

It sounds, from that clip, like we'd be living in a much more K-Selected world, as The Anonymous Conservative would put it, with less grabbing of the services if Her Majesty ran things in more than name only.

And I do like how Her Majesty tells the President of a Republic that the problem is that "democracies are bankrupt now, because of the way the services have been planned". Not the Western countries, not the first world, but the 'democracies'. She's the subtler half of a royal trolling team in which only Prince Philip ever gets any credit.

Princess Michael of Kent, a Catholic, is clearly in on the joke taking her 'racist' broach to a party with divorcée Markle. Although it is hard to see the controversy with Prince Harry himself being a renowned Nazi cos-player.

There were only two presidents of the United States that were trained in economics.....Woodrow Wilson and Ronald Reagan. Reagan took his degree in economics in 1932 from Eureka College in Illinois. Woodrow Wilson taught economics at Princeton University, as well as political science. He held the Chair of Jurisprudence and Political Economy before becoming university president.

JFK had enrolled in the London School of Economics but was overtaken by illness before he ever sat in class and had to return to the US. (His older brother, Joseph Jr. did attend the LSE before.)

Now, we have a third president trained in economics. He graduated Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

So, they are all traitors with the profane and godless, druggie Harry making it clear. Trailer trash with tiaras now. Disgusting to see them mucking up beautiful ancient English estates. Horrible spectacle really.

There are two ways in which cowbird brood parasites may be removed from nests: they may be removed by force or they may be removed by the collapse of the immediate environment.

Cowbirds always become comfortable at the cost of their "hosts".

Attempting to displace bureaucratic cowbirds through budget reductions doesn't usually work, however. The bureaucratic leaders usually find some set of convenient "exceptions" that allow them to expand what was previously shrunken. This is what Mr Reagan experienced during his Presidency.

This helps illustrate the point that what's left is often a kind of Thanatos Game: your ability to assert power often comes in direct proportion to how much you can afford to destroy your base or to hasten its collapse.

The American Left has been successful at this over the past five decades, so much that they've been pushing a "diversity" movement that is a thinly disguised "anti-identity" movement for the traditional majority which has been masquerading as a plurality of individual "identity" movements.

In other words, the American Left couldn't "win" at its power game without sacrificing its traditional base: the white urban American Leftist.

The American Right, and in particular Mr Reagan himself, advocated a "city upon a hill" mentality that has been particularly harmful. Oddly enough, the solution for the American Right is quite likely the solution for the American Left: sacrificing white urban American leftists so they may be consumed by the "identity" politics around them will also harden those on the Right toward such traditional Quaker/Puritanist themes as "sacrifice" and "samaritanism" toward such people.

Those of you who make pretences of being shocked that you'll have to abandon these people to their collective self-inflicted misfortune still have something to learn: if other people won't pay the piper for their mistakes, you'll eventually be made to pay for them as well.

"For example, we have a rule to this day, that an unskilled worker's wage is disconnected from the value of their labor but based on an arbitrary standard we call a 'living wage,' he continued.

'Well now, you have a group of people that have no interest in performing any work of value, even if they can, because it requires effort.

The Queen agreed, noting the British capitalist creed: 'From each according to desire to work. To each, according to their need.'"

"I see Reagan telling the queen that he tried and failed."

Reagan also got shot. It's likely he would have been able to accomplish a lot more if that hadn't happened.

Hard to imagine that the wealthiest woman in the world was a vehicle mechanic during WWII.

Fan of traitors? Only because you are still fed and watered. Wait until you meet Lee Rigby's fate. Her family will be safe. Will yours? The royal swine should all meet the fate of The Merry Monarch's father. They are complicit in killing their own people. Trash.

@ VD: you may have be planning this, but if possible, could you have a year-end post that polls VFM/Dreak Ilk as to which are the, say, top three news items/events of 2017?

Her Majesty and Prince Philip come across as the best of them, which admittedly is not that difficult given the low bar set by the many failings exposed to the public over the years.

But one thing I do like about them is that when we face war the Royals, unlike the politicians who get us into conflicts, show up and right on the front lines:

Many presumed that Prince Andrew would be given a role that kept him out of harm's way and it later emerged that some members of the Cabinet had pushed for him to be given a desk job during the conflict but Andrew - and the Queen - insisted he serve on the front line.

Generation, after generation:

The UK's Prince Harry has been serving on the frontline in Afghanistan and seen combat, but his deployment will be reviewed after the news was leaked by a U.S. Web site

There is a reason the British Military members I have known generally love the Royals, whilst hating our politicians.

Unfortunately, Woodrow Wilson was an utter disaster. His government basically financed WWI on behalf of the Europeans. We became the dominant creditor nation an essentially set ourselves up for the Great Depression.

Whatever economics he learned was simply there to subsidize the banker's war.

Blogger Johnny December 22, 2017 9:13 PM

The problem we had with Woodrow Wilson was that he was one of these unfocused college professor types. Business people are swimming with the sharks and understand the need to focus on the enterprise at hand, not cure the problems of the world.

Reagan started out trying to rein in federal spending and couldn't get it done. After that he focused on tax cuts and our side gets handouts also. Apparently the best that could be done in the circumstance. In general social policy he was the nice guy type with the strengths and weaknesses of that personalty. Not willing to be harsh enough when harsh solutions are needed.

Trump spent most of his life doing real estate deals that involved dealing with the corrupt and really corrupt big city machine politics, and it shows. Given the difficult hand he as been dealt, he has been really impressive at dealing with the politics of it. Currently the Republicans have figured out that they have to show him some accommodation or risk going down in the fall election. Thus I think we are going to win for a while longer, but the times are against what he is trying to do. Democrat gains in congress this fall would shut most of his progress down. His impact may be transitory

The problem we had with Woodrow Wilson was that he was one of these unfocused college professor types.

The problem with Woodrow Wilson, as now Super-cuck Jonah Goldberg pointed out in Liberal Fascism, is that he brought fascism to America. Hell, he may be the father of it.

Lets see, we started out with the Colonial Congress I think it was called. Next came a much more powerful central authority called the United States of America. The next big jump in power was Lincoln. Some of he stuff he did got rolled back, but we went from a federation to an empire in that membership was no longer voluntary. Following the Civil War, the old New England ran more or less everything, the new states, the South, and inroads into Central America. As it was the industrial center I assume it was dominated by industrial interests. Next Wilson expanded the Federal Government, FDR did it some more, and then the Cold War following WWII kept the expanded WWII state in place. And now little by little we have this ever more powerful and corrupt deep state.

We have had a great run, maybe the best in history. Three cheers for George Washington, the one necessary man in the American revolution.

The Queen knew, and did nothing. I now despise her as the worst monarch in the history of (formerly great) Britain. She has ruled over the dissolution of the empire and the destruction of the Kingdom. She, the Protector, has allowed the Church to fail and turn from God to worshiping Man. She has allowed her nation's borders to be open to a flood of foreign invaders. She has allowed her nation's wealth to be squandered on Marxist policies that destroy the will of her people. She allows heathens who worship Satan to rape and murder her nation's children, while the police arrest any who speak against it. Queen Elizabeth II the Abysmal.
