Will Caligan's Comic

This is an announcement for a special one-week campaign designed to provide work for Will Caligan, a military veteran, a Christian, and a comic artist who was swarmed by SJWs and lost his publishing arrangement due to his willingness to stand up for his beliefs about right and wrong. All of the funds raised will go to paying for the production of one or more comics illustrated by Will that will be published by Arkhaven. The graphic novel – or novels – will be based on novels chosen by the backers that have been contributed by various authors, and comics legend Chuck Dixon will be providing the adapted scripts for free. A Gold-rate team of colorists, Arklight Studios, will provide the colors for the cover at a steep discount.

50 percent of the revenues from any subsequent sale of the comics and graphic novels will go to Will and to the direct contributors to producing the comic. (The author whose work is selected, the colorists, etc.) This does not include me or the Arkhaven team. For more details about the campaign and to view the backing options, please visit Freestartr. And please spread the word, especially on Twitter.

Thanks to everyone who put this campaign together on very short notice.
  • Jon Del Arroz
  • Freestartr
  • Arklight Studios
  • Chuck Dixon
  • Nick Cole
  • John C. Wright
  • Peter Grant
  • Lawdog
  • Rolf Nelson
  • Kai Wai Cheah

  • Team Arkhaven
And as a bonus, if you visit the campaign page, you can see one of the new Alt★Hero covers illustrated by Cliff Cosmic and colored by Arklight Studios.

Peter Grant shares his thoughts.

The press release from Short Fuse Media Group concerning the matter.
Short Fuse Media Group, LLC. was founded on the principles of uniting all PEOPLE and embracing diversity.

In order to maintain those principles, the decision has been made from our senior staff to sever ties with Will Caligan and Alpha Dog Studios, effective immediately as a result of comments that were made by Will that were deemed to be offensive by members of the indie comic book community as well as the LGBT Community.

Short Fuse Media Group, LLC. would like to formally apologize to the members of the indie comic book community, the LGBT Community and especially the current (and prior) members/talent of our roster who are also a part of the LGBT community for the length of time that it took to fully understand the scope of what had taken place and act on this accordingly as again, we support and respect all PEOPLE from ALL walks of life.
Sure they do. Sure they do.

"You said John C Wright twice."

"I like John C Wright."

First.

First pledge that is. I like this support model: issues for issues. We should do more of it.

Side note, I will probably up my pledge in the future, but would love additional digital pledge levels to do so. Sometimes back catalog stuff from the artist makes excellent rewards in this regard...

Freestartr is a great addition to the ecosystem.

Blogger mgh January 22, 2018 9:03 AM

I don't do comics, but I must say that Alt-Hero cover is exceptionally well done.

Blogger S1AL January 22, 2018 9:14 AM

Lawdog Files graphic novel?

Now that sounds like a freaking winner. How're you deciding which one to use?

Blogger S1AL January 22, 2018 9:17 AM

Never mind, reading is hard. Email poll. On-site polling up options might be a useful Freestartr feature.

Blogger David The Good January 22, 2018 9:19 AM

I gave. Did you?

Happy to help. Down with SJWs.

Blogger James Dixon January 22, 2018 9:32 AM

Looks like I'll have to wait till I get home to donate. I'm vacillating between the $10 and $25 pledge levels.

Blogger Koanic January 22, 2018 9:43 AM

May Jehovah answer ya'lls bounty with His own, in Jesus' name.

OpenID widlast January 22, 2018 9:44 AM

Done for $25. Be interesting to see what is chosen.

Blogger #7139 January 22, 2018 9:45 AM

Over $2800 pledged. You are breaking the speed of sound, Vox.

John C. Wright was typed twice, VD.

God bless all who are helping.

I'm in. Love watching those numbers go up. Closing in on halfway there with less than an hour gone.

Blogger Daniel Bendele January 22, 2018 9:53 AM

Any way to shift the end date to the 31st? Some of us don't get paid till the last day of the month, and I can't really fit a $100 donation in until next pay cycle.

Blogger The Observer January 22, 2018 9:53 AM

Donated for $25. This man needs to know he's not alone.

Blogger Rawle Nyanzi January 22, 2018 9:55 AM

It's good to help out a talented creator; angry blog posts alone won't do it. I implore all of you to vote for Sword & Flower. As a 20K novella, it's the perfect size to be adapted to comics.

Blogger #7139 January 22, 2018 9:56 AM

It is going to exceed the original goal before 3 hours are up.

Blogger Heian-kyo Dreams January 22, 2018 9:57 AM

Due to the cookie glitch, it looked like I was going to be "first". Nope. This campaign is blowing up already, and will grow once the Mountain, Pacific, and earlier time zones wake up.

Blogger VD January 22, 2018 9:57 AM

Any way to shift the end date to the 31st?

No, but we can handle it manually when it's done.

Ok. Going back and forth between Swan Knight's Son and The Stars Came Back.

Some fun options on the list, but those are two great ones.

Leaning toward Swan Knight's Son because if it sells, you can just keep producing it endlessly. There's a ton of material there, it's seriously visual and it's perfect for a teen audience. I'd love to see it with Will's art. I love that kind of Humberto Ramos big-feet thing he has going on. Would have to start buying them to give away.

Sounds fantastic.

Speaking of Alt Hero. I am posting something very cool in the discrod channel soon. It will be a "Create Your Own Adventure" Game with one of the Alt Hero characters. It will be up in about an hour in the discord Alt Hero channel.

Well I made the mistake of going to Short Fuse Media's Facebook to see how they were handling things... complete S#it-show. Blatant anti-thought and anti-speech sentiments being cheered on. If I were Caligan, I'd be glad to distance myself from them anyway.

Done.

I'm in.

Blogger slarrow January 22, 2018 10:52 AM

Up to $6k already....

I'd also like to express my admiration for this move. Not only is it a generous response to someone who's been raked over the coals, it's also incredibly smart. It draws more talent, jump-starts a new line of business (making graphic novels of Castalia authors), enhances the connection with the existing business (this is why "synergy" was such a big buzzword back in the day), diversifies the Arkhaven brand (making those whose panties are in a twist over Rebel look even more ridiculous), and wins at the moral level of war with the SJW crowd. Just brilliant.

And oh, look, it's up to $6085 as I type this. How high will this one go?

Blogger Michael January 22, 2018 10:58 AM

I feel like I need to star rabidly campaigning for Swan Knight's Son.

Blogger Sterling Pilgrim January 22, 2018 11:00 AM

@ 36. That's a relief. For some reason, when I visit the campaign link, it's at zero dollars still and zero backers.

Blogger Ingot9455 January 22, 2018 11:01 AM

The news that there MIGHT be a Swan Knight's Son graphic novel was not at all unpopular in the Day household.

And... backed.

Shoot I'd pay double to get them both in comic form.

Anonymous Faceless January 22, 2018 11:12 AM

People with traditional values should pick up the obvious implication faster when dealing with such delightful people as Short Fuse Media, LLC:

They don't believe you are human.

Their fixation on calling the other side Nazis is projection. They would kill you if they had a chance since they do not believe you are human. Hence, they want your guns.

Anonymous Faceless January 22, 2018 11:13 AM

@38

Chuck's no fool. He knows that the people who would DDoS them will likely not register and maintain session cookies. Therefore, it is only live if you are signed in.

Blogger Michael January 22, 2018 11:17 AM

You know his art style reminds me of the late and much missed Mike Wieringo. That just makes me all the more comfortable with backing this. Chuck Dixon Robin basically was the one comic I consistently collected growing up and Mike Wieringo illustrated much of it.

Blogger slarrow January 22, 2018 11:22 AM

And funded!

$7,630 raised of $7,500 goals with 120 backers.

That was fast.

The campaign has been up for what seems like under 2hrs and it has already blown right through its goal )))

As our Supreme Dark Lord (PBUH) tells us- take a man's platform away, and he will go build his own, and then you will never silence him again.

The Reclamation has begun, my brothers. The SJWs are NOT going to win this war.

DEUS VULT!!!

Blogger Cetera January 22, 2018 11:29 AM

If I had more to give, I'd give more. There's no better cause than to support a brother in Christ who was martyred from his job for speaking his faith, unless it is to also at the same time grind the SJWs to dust under the heel of a boot while spicing our food with their tears.

DEUS VULT!

Blogger James Dixon January 22, 2018 12:18 PM

> They don't believe you are human.

Human, but not "people".

"All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others".

> They would kill you if they had a chance since they do not believe you are human.

Of course. That's the one thing this election should have taught the right. To quote Kurt Schlichter, "They hate you. They want you enslaved and obedient, if not dead." And at this point they've realized enslaved and obedient is not an option.

> If I had more to give, I'd give more.

That's true for most of us. We only have a small budget for such things, but this qualifies. It helps our own people and demoralizes the opposition.

It also has a tremendous founding story, the stuff of marketer's dreams. Add to that the optics as seen from the enemy's camp followers.

A Gold-rate team of colorists, Arklight Studios...
Is this an industry terminology?

The Alt★Hero cover art is amazing, but will trigger a nightmare from Fantasia. That's disturbingly like the dance scene in the section on Mussorgsky, "Night on Bald Mountain". The demon still gives me shivers. Great analogy to the EU and its chief minions.

Short Fuse Media Group did the little dance, and were then turned to horrible orcs by the SJW demon. Donated, to help pay for the piper; we hire the piper, we call the tune.

Just for comparison's sake, or rubbing their nose in it. 100 backers, $7K raised

This comic hit that in far less time. Well on track to double that amount, and go even higher.

They raised $7800 in 32 days.
