Alt★Hero update

If you are an Alt★Hero backer or a subscriber to the Arkhaven mailing list, be sure to check your email. We just sent out some VERY important news that you will not want to miss. In addition to a progress update, we have introduced a new character who will be appearing in future issues as well as a detailed update on the design of the role-playing game.

There are very interesting times ahead, because I now have good reason to believe that the Arkhaven project is going to be at least an order of magnitude more disruptive than I had previously imagined.

But regardless of whether our prognostications prove to be astute or not, we are continuing to work hard towards the launch of the initial Alt★Hero and Chuck Dixon's Avalon issues in March.

That was fast. And $2.99 is a steal.

Yay! This looks good, Vox. Also, I'll have to pick up the new Jeeves when I can.

Speaking of print, are there plans to have print versions of Quantum Mortis available in Canada on Amazon? Right now, I can only get the e-book versions.

Amazon tells me I'll have Jeeves by Tuesday (Monday being a Holiday).
Fantastic.

My curiosity is piqued, however, the interwebz are taking their sweet time delivering thy email. And yes, I have received previous Alt★Hero Updates.

Yes. And probably sooner than you would think. Only Jeeves is location-limited to the USA due to copyright issues elsewhere. The source material is public domain in the USA.

It looks great. Almost same time as Black Panther. Incredible timing. It almost seems like destiny and fate. As the major companies converge and Stan Lee almost gone, Alt-Hero launches with new characters and story lines and plots.

Blogger Starboard February 16, 2018 1:34 PM

Ordered and looking forward to receiving it.

Blogger Dave February 16, 2018 1:42 PM

Yes, got the email, bought the book.

Is the change in book size under consideration for Alt★Hero only? What about future Jeeves books?

I now have good reason to believe that the Arkhaven project is going to be at least an order of magnitude more disruptive

Do pray tell.

Read "Rebel Dead Revenge" and it reminded me of "Tales From the Crypt" of bygone years.

Thanks for the update and will look into "Jeeves" too and two Jeeves.

Future Jeeves and QM-AMD issues will be $2.99 and the smaller size, but they will be collected in graphic novels that are 7x10.

Getting tired of hitting refresh. Who do I contact to make sure I am on the email list (backer of both Alt*Hero and Will's comic)?

OT: One of the email addresses from the, ahem, "Russian" accounts charged with election interference is "wokeaztec@outlook.com". Not accusing anyone of anything, just pointing it out.

O/T VD--Tucson airport Wifi is now blocking your website, and also amren.com. I haven't checked any others....You must be doing something right...

Blogger VD February 16, 2018 2:58 PM

Email me. I can see if you're on the list or not.

Will Dark Legion release comics this year other than Rebel Dead Revenge?

Blogger Dave February 16, 2018 4:16 PM

@Jeff

Chicago Typewriter: The Red Ribbon was just announced here Wednesday.

Blogger Silly but True February 16, 2018 4:17 PM

I was a fan of both Marvel Superheroes and Mayfair DC Heroes, with Champions being played but distant preference.

Marvel was a simple fun system. It didn't take a lot to get people up to speed and playing the things they knew. It's creation was great, and ability to advance characters through play worked well.

What did I like best about Mayfair? Stat-comparing/building characters. I never had an appreciation for the difficulties DC created for themselves until the various stat-builds of Golden Age vs. Silver Age vs. Man of Steel Superman were completed. Same for all the pre-crisis versions of its heroes.

The flaw (or feature) of point-based systems is that invariably you're stuck with a loser keeping to normal point limits; they expect you to suck and buibuildto the hero. Sure there's always arbitrary point increases at generation but that's always been an inelegant solution.

Thanks for the reply, Vox. Looking forward to Quantum Mortis in hardcopy. Pity about the Jeeves copyright, though. Perhaps in the future it can be resolved.

Blogger Bradley Matthews February 16, 2018 4:34 PM

Glad the print editions are coming out, now I can start buying and reading.

Blogger Cronos February 16, 2018 4:42 PM

Wow. This RPG things sounds awesome as well. Congratulations!

Will Dark Legion release comics this year other than Rebel Dead Revenge?

Yes. We'll also be releasing Chicago Typewriter: The Red Ribbon, Techlore 1-4, and Gun Ghoul 1-4. We expect to announce more titles as we sign them.

Please note that Dark Legion only publishes completed projects that are brought to us by the creators, we don't do any development. Arkhaven does original development.

It's pen-and-paper. We're not doing the computer version yet.
