Marvel rethinks suicide

What a pity. Marvel has reversed its decision to make the X-Men the gay mascots of the comics industry:
X-Men Campaign to Help LGBTQ Tolerance in Classrooms Cancelled

Last week, Bleeding Cool ran a piece looking at the Omaze charity campaign to help fund GLSEN, an organization that seeks to end discrimination, harassment, and bullying based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression in schools.

The idea was people donate $10, and one lucky person gets drawn into an upcoming issue of X-Men. X-Men Blue, probably, a comic with queer representation in the team. The winners would also receive the original artwork from their appearance and a signed copy of the comic.
I am literally shaking. But fortunately, this deplorable decision paves the way for Rainbow of the Global Justice Initiative to claim his rightful place as the one true gay icon in comics.

When reached for comment, Rainbow was dancing shirtless to techno music in a Berlin disco. He said, "WOOOOOOOH!"

"I've been a baaaad, bad kitty," he added.

Rainbow should be a fan of Chuck Tingle. That would be freaking hilarious.

Blogger Nate February 12, 2018 7:05 PM

like a shot of him casually reading Space Raptor Butt Invasion... almost like an easter egg but more obvious.

Hahaha so someone came to his senses in Marvel? Like the CFO? Or maybe they prefer to heed Lenin's counsel to his fellow bolsheviks; two steps forward, one step back.

Slightly OT: Behold the Horrifying power of Soy!!! [8 mins]

That is one powerful fear grimace. This is the face of a man terrified that he'll be called racist for daring to get a movie only a 9/10 review.

When isn't Rainbow dancing shirtless in a disco?

Very Milo-ish. This is going to be great.

Should the vile minions don their rainbow ascots and launch a protest of this vile display of cis-gendered homophobic intolerance by Marvel?

I see no reason Marvel should not be shamed into committing suicide, if it is feasible.

Definitely looking forward to this Rainbow character after that description, heh.

Related question: During your research, did you read Garth Ennis' superhero satire, The Boys?

A copy of God Hates Me, discarded for not being salacious.

No. Rainbow is based on a friend of mine from my nightclub days. That was one of his favorite phrases.

discarded for not being salacious.

I can fix that.

They should start using holographic covers again but this time make it a queer thing.

Rainbows nemesis should be a lucador hero based on Steve who fights with the Feather Boa Garrot of Truth.

Vox... that's not a challenge.

From Denniger:
One must look first at how the earnings numbers we have today are being made.
Let's look quickly at one example from last night: Disney.
In percentage terms all of their business segments lost operating profits except one: Theme parks, which were up big (21%).
---------
Now take Disney's other businesses. Films were down by a couple percent, consumer product sales off 4%, and broadcast TV license fees down an utterly-enormous 25%.

In short, the only reason Disney revenues are up is substantial hikes in theme park prices. Everything else is down. Perhaps things in the other divisions are having to get a bit more serious about what's bringing in money and what really isn't - like the SJW crap. Baby steps?

Nah, that just means that the theme parks are insufficiently committed to diversity.

Someone needs a black homosex Star Wars ride pronto. Disneyland Hong Kong should be a good venue.

My hope is that they sell of the parks to raise money to fund their ongoing SWJ-fest, then we can Make Disneyland Great Again.

See, being a mutant is supposed to be a METAPHOR for being gay, like in the Iceman scene where he 'comes out' awkwardly to his parents as a mutant.

Totally a screwup if you actually have the character as gay.

Blogger Cynic In Chief February 12, 2018 10:32 PM

Their theme parks and the occasional Marvel movie are the only good things about Disney. I dump a lot of money into getting a Disney World pass every year because the parks are that good, but otherwise I don't give them any money.

As far as making theme parks great again, just go to a Cedar Fair park. The theming is bland (very unlike Disney), but they cater to the thrill seekers and their rides are the best in the world. In the summer, Carowinds, Kings Island, and Cedar Point are all worth lots of visits.

Rainbow surely is the only gay in the village.

When Disney opens their new "Black Panther" theme ride, you can bet that park will be flooded with herds of vibrant yoots jumping turnstiles and lines. Then, watch the park revenues drop.
