SUPERLUMINARY: The Lords of Creation

Being assassinated once may be an accident. Being assassinated twice is enemy action.

Aeneas Tell of the House of Tell is one of the youngest Lords of Creation. His family rules the Nine Worlds through its control of the ultra-advanced technology that has permitted the colonization of the entire solar System. More gods than men, the Lords of Creation have cheated Death itself.

But even a quasi-immortal god will take exception to being assassinated. Twice. Especially when the assassin turns out to be a someone he thought was a friend.

SUPERLUMINARY is the latest and most outrageous creation of science fiction grandmaster John C. Wright, the Dragon-award winning author of THE UNWITHERING REALM, THE GOLDEN AGE, MOTH & COBWEB, and AWAKE IN THE NIGHT LAND. THE LORDS OF CREATION is the first book in the series.

Book Club subscribers, don't go looking for your missing email. I'm waiting for something else to happen before I send out it out to you, most likely tomorrow. But go ahead and pick up THE LORDS OF CREATION today, you'll still be eligible for the free book. It's vintage John C. Wright, one part THE GOLDEN AGE, one part CITY BEYOND TIME, and one part science lecture delivered by a bio-physicist on acid.

Drowning in great books is not a bad way to go, especially if JCW is writing them.

Bought. You two are killing me in the most pleasant way imaginable.

Of course I bought it. Bell=saliva as Wright=bought

OT: Reading the Promethean, finally. This is what Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land should have been.

Not even possible for him to be more outrageous.

Blogger Aeoli February 19, 2018 2:25 PM

Dude writes faster than I can read.

Aha! I accept the daunting challenge. We shall see.

Thankfully I have not given up buying books for Lent. Purchased.

Been waiting for this one. Awesome!

Yeah, I think I read some of this material via JCW's .... was it a Patreon campaign?

"War Dyson". Battles wherein the entire energy output of a star = one gun. Giant killer bio-tech constructs with infinitely mutable bodies of gloss black metal "chitin".... that's the good guys, by the way.

IIRC, then, it's a truly outstanding combination of smart and crazy.

Blogger M. Bibliophile February 19, 2018 6:52 PM

Purchased at first glance, can't wait to dig into this one!

Buying now... despite already having too much to read. But when JCW is hot he's Great. His Golden Age trilogy ranks among my favorite science fiction works. Looking forward to Swan Knight’s Son comic books.

It was...okay, although a bit like an expanded short story.

Don't expect to relate to the protagonist, or any character really... And expect more neoscientific terminology than a liberal lesbian's thesis.

But it was not a bad way to kill an hour's reading. And the Character that was not in the book was the one that was most likeable.

Blogger wreckage February 20, 2018 6:21 AM

@18 I relate just fine to 9 foot tall bio-factory killing machines.

Blogger Dire Badger February 20, 2018 10:00 AM

@19:

Not me, still it weighed in on the probability scale better than Peter Grant's Maxwell Saga, where three quarters of the most important characters were improbably competent military females.
