Probably the Russians, right?

Will Vladimir Putin stop at nothing?
Sometime on or around April 1, 2018 Broward County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Fitzsimons, 42 years old and in excellent state of mind and health, called in sick to his job. Shortly thereafter Fitzsimons was found dead on his sofa. There has been a complete “news blackout” of this curious and untimely death.

Deputy Fitzsimons wasn’t just any law enforcement officer. Unlike many of his peers, he took to social media to question the potential agenda behind the February 14 Marjory Stoneman High School mass shooting, suggesting that the event was being used to promote the Democratic Party’s gun control platform in anticipation of the 2018 midterm elections. One post found on Fitzsimons’ Facebook page depicts the Parkland massacre’s main spokesperson, David Hogg, in National Socialist regalia, with the caption, “We will March Until We Disarm Every American.”
How will President Trump respond to this outrageous Syrian attack on US soil? Animal Assad must be invaded at once! And Iran too! And the brave US soldiers must not stop until Moscow is occupied!

In some countries in the past we have seen a "military coup" where the military leadership takes over the country. Sometimes they really meant well and other times not so much.

Ordinarily cautious I would suppose. If you do this sort of stuff, having any one event spin out of control would be unacceptable.

Big institutions like government can't respond quickly even if otherwise well run. When they react quickly as they did at Sandy Hook, it breeds suspicion for me.

@25 Panic. The Fake News has lost most of its ability to influence public opinion and this has the deep state scared. People are bypassing the Fake News completely to get information from independent sources through channels like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, Reddit, etc. Now in a desperate attempt to Shut It Down these channels have all implemented overt censorship, particularly of intelligent political commentary. (Despite the recent hype about banning gun-related content, it's really the political commentary that has been most heavily censored on Youtube. Often under the guise of copyright disputes.)

But it's too late for the gatekeepers; the dam is breaking. They already have lost control of the content and soon they will lose control of the channels as well. This has already happened in the case of Infogalactic. Tech advances will eventually make it economically feasible to displace Youtube.

Possibly OT:

BBC reporting that the Fed is considering raising interest rates more aggressively.

Since I firmly believe the paper "recovery" from the global financial crisis is entirely a zombie debt-fuelled illusion powered by creating money and lending it to anyone with a pulse, I see this as a political attack on Trump thinly disguised as "good news".

Higher interest rates will expose the multitudinous bad debts owed by unprofitable business ventures to the cold winds of the need for profit.

First, No reason to get sanctimonious. People here have plenty of reasons to be skeptics. In 2013 the USA was sold a bill of goods on "moderate rebels," who turned out to be terrorists backed by C*A, and Paul Ryan, John McCain, and other traitors. We also know about the rights to put pipelines through Syria was a reason for wars. Many say that Assad is a moderate that allows for great religious tolerance. This could all be false, and perhaps he is behind the attacks. But where is your proof?

Perhaps all sides are corrupt? The guilt trip is SJW territory though, not good.

@41 tuberman - Many say that Assad is a moderate that allows for great religious tolerance.

A dictator can use a minority group to help govern because they are unlikely to side with the majority. Assad's "tolerance" came from him using the Christian minority to help govern over the Islamic majority. It is the flip side of the Moors in Spain using the Jewish minority to help govern over the Christian majority. Tolerance of a sort, but potentially dangerous for the minority should the dictator go down.

Blogger CM April 11, 2018 6:05 PM

OT but... would you be willing to write about how remittances to other countries help or do not help our economy?

The arguments that it helps ring hollow to me. One of the arguments that open borders help us is that the people coming here to work spend their money here, but they don't. On top of remittances, though, welfare covers all the things they would buy.

One of the benefits of coming here to work is our dollar value relative to where they send the remittances. xx USD translates into 2xx Mexican currency. It goes further there. This is/could? Be one reason why Americans crossing borders to work is not a possibility - money earned there is worth a fraction of that here. Its a one way street and pro-im sees no issues with this.

You've obviously never served in the mideast.

Arabs will gladly murder their own, just to create the opportunity to blame their opponent.

In this case, what's in it for Assad to do this thing in a war that is within weeks of being concluded:

Zero, Zilch, Nothing, Nada, Nyet.

What's in it for the nearly destroyed rebellion to do such a thing: A shot at getting one or more nations to come in and attack Assad's government.

Occam's razor says that this was done by the rebels in a bid to gain sympathy and foment aggression against Assad from outside forces.

Lastly, what was the chemical weapon which was used?

Chlorine -- I.e. BLEACH.

That's the kind of substance that amateur hour rebels use when they're on the ropes, getting pummeled and moments away from being TKO'ed.

If the Assad regime had wanted to use Chemical weapons, it sure as hell wouldn't have been something as primitive as mere chlorine gas (which can be defended against with a mere wet rag over your face).

OpenID doktorjeep April 11, 2018 8:40 PM

We're stuck between a rock and a hard place in 2018. The vote is for either a cuckpublican or a gun-grabbing leftist. Basically if the leftists get in, then you get to die in your house when the SWAT team comes to take your guns. Vote for the republican well then at least a few more years of that not happening.
So the trope goes...
That kind of dynamic can get a bunch of John McCains elected. the goal is not to get more liberals, liberals are messed up being openly racist against whites now. Maybe they make a college try or a beta test on the brown vote or something. But the left gets more from republicans bending over than their own making headway.

As for the potential for war, well this is apparently causing rats to leave the sinking ship. Good. As we have said for years, nationalism now or ultra-nationalism later.

Wild ride. It never ends. The air has a dystopic feel to it, like from a bad sci fi movie you see at 2AM on Saturday morning after coming back from a sausage-fest party and everybody spoke about lost jobs and dreams.

Don't know if it was chlorine or Sarin? Crazy if it is true.

Nerve agents cause intense thrashing around followed by death. Fly spray is often a fly nerve agent. You can watch the effect when you spray the fly.

Chlorine is a caustic agent. I am guessing you probably end up coughing up blood. And I suppose the eyes catch it also. At the least bloodshot.

I guess from now on it will always be the tendency to feel sorry for children that will send us to war. Need a few small dead bodies before every conflict.

No, you don't die in your house when teh SWAT team comes to take your guns.. You shoot a dozen of them when they start bugging your neighbor. If a couple more people join in, you've depleted the entire alotment of BATF personnel for your entire state.

Make a war of attrition, and they will lose, FAST. Once they go for the gun-grabbing, it's only a matter of time before they are sending people to gulags. Better to die fighting than to die doing heavy labor on a 500 calorie/day diet.

Blogger Dirk Manly April 12, 2018 5:30 AM

Well, a lot of the symptoms of chlorine and nerve agents are similar (although due to different physiological mechanisms). Both cause excessive tearing, both cause the lungs to fill with fluid, and lots of caughing, and thrashing about (either from pain, or due to CNS disruption).

However, it takes no more than merely rubbing agent-detector paper on victims to figure out which class of agent it is.

And Chlorine ALSO tends to leave tell-tale bleaching in the immediate area (especially on the down-wind side) of the release point.

If it were a military grade chlorine gas attack, bleaching in the area (and dead PLANTS) would be evident ... this isn't 3/100 household bleach solution. Military "supertopical" bleach used for decontamination (chlorine will form covalent bonds with nearly everything!) is over 30%, and that's still not considered military "weapons grade" even in WW1.
