That answers that question

In case you ever wondered what would happen if Yui and Moa mastered their guitars and started their own rock band.

The remarkable thing is the way these young women, intentionally or not, are utterly destroying so many Western feminist notions. There is a subversive element, of course - how could there not be - but they don't have to make themselves ugly or emasculate men or destroy tradition in order to become successful or attract attention. And they're each about one thousand times cooler than the Gothiest Goth-chick that ever dyed her hair or thought she was a witch.

The band's founder, the rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist, Miku, is clearly a marketing genius. Observe the way in which she has surrounded herself with four musicians who are clearly much better than she is. And if you don't think they are actually playing the instruments themselves, well, that's plainly not the case.

They're either becoming pretty good pop songwriters or they have assembled a solid songwriting crew that suits them nicely. Daydreaming is a well-written, wistful, 90's rock-style song that is considerably better than anything Taylor Swift or Rihanna are putting out these days. Alone has a serious Lostprophets vibe to it, only without, you know, the pedophilia.

I hope this goes well for them and they don't wind up like Joan Jett with shaved heads and a thousand yard stare.

I wonder how much of their image is their own work and how much is made for them?

good sound technician/engineer in alone, really like the distinct bass guitar sound. reminds me a lot of korn but not quite that distinct.

minimal amount of attention whoring (as much as it can be reduced) in the videos as well, a really big plus for me

overall talented people it looks like

I like how they included a screen shot of Vox at the 1:24 mark.
And Trump at the 2:36 mark.

You can certainly be in much worse company than comparisons to the God Emperor.

Hmmmm, wonder who will do the drumming on live concerts?

A good portion of the "live" video audio sounds like studio backing track mixed or edited in and out to my ears.

This one sounds a bit more authentic and honest: OtherLiveVideo

Still awesome.

Cross topic post, kind of, related to pedos in Hollywood. First, these are full grown women and admiring them is not pedo.
Two, I am 100% certain that the movie out right now about Showdogs was entirely constructed around the central scene of the main character's molestation.

Anyone with some brains and even a tiny fraction of experience in storyboarding, would recognize the fact that the emotional climax and true "overcoming an obstacle through the help of friends and triumphing" was setup on that scene.

I question, to their face, the moral judgment of anyone supporting or attending that movie, whether in person or rental. "you know, you showing that movie to your kids forces me to rethink my opinion of you" works like a dagger driven straight into their id.

Holy crap, that was awesome.

They are also mighty cute, in a very japanese way:

I agree that Miku is a marketing genius. Notice how each of their outfits has a "theme". She clearly did her homework when assembling the band, not just "let's wear maid outfits".

Great music and NO tattoos. I am sorry, but tattoos add NOTHING to a woman's beauty.

Excellent stuff! Between them, Babymetal, the pillows, Pay Money To My Pain, Yoko Kanno, Kishida Kyoudan & the Akeboshi Rockets, and The Bonez, my music library is slowly filling with Japanese bands.

They sound great. This is the pop music we should have in a sane West.

Blogger Dirk Manly May 25, 2018 5:11 PM

Not only should have... DID HAVE, and it got pushed out by c-rap.

I love that clip of "Band Maid - Live Bochum 2017- 2.0" you linked. So fun to watch the bassist and drummer playing together.

That's a gimmick. Not music.

Do not be sorry for telling the truth

Its hard not to be a bit jealous of Japan and the Japanese people. They have a clear cut culture, one that combines and values both the old and the new. I would love to know what that feels like...
