The nomad moves on

This is why it was a massive mistake for US states to allow new residents to vote. This rootless nomad is moving on after all of 14 years because he doesn't like the way the politicians for whom he voted are governing Seattle.
I KNEW Seattle was no longer a place for me when I met with Debora Juarez — the District 5 City Council member I had voted for.

Last September, at what I thought was going to be a friendly one-on-one meeting between an elected official and her constituent, I expressed some concerns that were on my mind. I fretted over the deterioration of a city with which I had fallen in love — a city that, despite my 21 trips to Europe, I still believe to be the most beautiful in the world.

I told my council member that Northgate, my home, had seen a noticeable increase in litter and graffiti. To my dismay, she seemed to suggest these issues were someone else’s job, not hers. So, I moved on to a bigger issue: homelessness.

When I first moved to Seattle 14 years ago, to attend the University of Washington, homelessness essentially didn’t exist at Northgate. Though I have never been a victim of or witness to a crime, some of my neighbors have been, and they believe homeless camps are the reason. Additionally, the conditions in such camps are often atrocious — not only are the homeless more likely to be victims of violent crime, they are susceptible to infectious disease, such as the hepatitis A outbreak in San Diego that sickened nearly 500 people and has killed 20.

I believe strongly that it is not compassionate to leave people who are unable or unwilling to care for themselves to suffer and die on the street. Because many (but certainly not all) homeless people struggle with mental illness or drug addiction, I suggested that Seattle find a way to make it easier to provide treatment to these troubled souls — involuntarily, if need be. It could literally save their lives.

Juarez exclaimed, “What is this? Nazi Germany?” Appalled — in part because my grandparents survived Nazi Germany — I got up and walked out....So, my wife and I are heading to the Eastside. We really would prefer to stay in Seattle. But if safe streets, clean sidewalks, an affordable place to live and polite discourse is asking too much, we’ll gladly seek refuge in a city where quality of life and civility still matter.
Guess what sort of politician this guy is going to vote for in the next election in his new city. Almost certainly the exact same sort of politician he helped elect whose policies he is fleeing now.

This is why skin in the game matters. This is why it is a mistake for farmers to permit nomads to dwell among them, much less be permitted any voice in how they order their societies. When things fall apart, the nomad will move on and the farmers will be left to pick up the pieces as best they can. And this is why no immigrants, foreign or domestic, should be permitted any vote in a democracy or a republic for at least five generations.

The fact that one dislikes the consequences of one's own vote enough to flee them should be sufficient cause to deny one's future right to vote. Man's ideologies and political philosophies have not yet caught up with his transportation technology and his ability to travel around the world to escape the consequences of his actions.

The first thing my Appalachian grandfather did after returning from WWI was immigrate to "America". He brought with him every friend and distant relative he could. Some could not make the adjustment, turned their back on the new found prosperity and went back to scratching the rocky hills for a living. Many stayed and did well but to this day we are still hillbillies right down to my grandkids, cousins, nieces and nephews. Could it be genetic? The worst traits seem to follow the Y chromosome. A hundred generations may not be long enough.

It's amazing to see how people can move a block or even a neighborhood away and in that guys case 15 - 25 miles to the East and say themselves, "Whew! Glad we got out of there". When the MPAI has around 10 years tops before whatever he was fleeing from works its way over there too and probably faster since he's bringing the same brainwashing with him. But the MPAI feels secure for a little while.

This is what I have been saying to people around me in Spain, when the see no problem in people from Venezuela escaping from Communism coming in massive numbers. The left excited to get new voters, of course.

Aside from the obvious reasons that they are gonna collapse the system with the welfare payments, lower the wages in a country with high unemployment, and specially that they are not and don't feel spanish and have no loyalty and big resentment against us.

Also our stupid laws gift citizenship and right to vote with ease in few years to South American inmigrants. A disaster.

You're talking about people who originated in Scotland where they....
eek out a living scratching rocky hills. Also home to what has been called "Rednecks" since at least the 1400's.

Didn’t “progressives” fight for years against forced institutionalization, because men have the right to self-determination or something, and institutions are full of Nurse Ratcheds just waiting to electroshock their unwitting charges into complacency?

Some liberal he is.

Well, at least he was able to signal his virtue by voting for a candidate with the correct last name and ethnic heritage. Lol he wants to live in a nice, clean, white, ostensibly Christian community, but won’t vote for people who are any of those things. Murrrica!

QUite a lot of European progressives comes to my country, say they like it here and want to settle down. The funny thing they immedietely start castigating hwo awful is that Poland is not diverse, racist and whatever. When I asked one why he then had not stayed in London, which already is diverse, not racist etc he said "naah the crime levels are too high, cost of living too and besides I like it better here". It had not occurred to him that there could be correlation. And sees nothing wrong in changing my hometown into a copy of London.

Yes, it's typical Libertarian blindness. The first thing the nomads will do is get rid of your limited government...the rest will follow. The lack of self-reflection in those people is astonishing.

It is. Everything this guy says about Seattle is absolutely true. But he has no clue about his own contribution to making it that way. So many people are straight-line thinkers, no ability to comprehend interconnected issues or unintended consequences.

If his article mentioned what he'd learned about the unintended consequences of mush-headed liberalism, about how diversity and indulging freaks and taxing the crap out of productive people to pay for a gigantic vote-buying bureaucracy, he wouldn't be so dangerous as a nomad. But since he didn't, he's a Typhoid Mary, unaware of the disease he carries.

Yes, the nomads are doing a fine job of screwing things up here. Pot legalization, combined with a permissive legislative framework that emphasizes rehabilitation over retribution, have resulted in at least 100 illegal large-scale pot grow houses in our city, run by drug cartels, including one just down the street from me.

Blogger szopen May 03, 2018 11:47 AM

Ha! Three hours of searching, and finally I found it. Highly relevant.

A Jewish "human rights" female worker, helps immigrants to learn language and find work. All the relevant scenes are spread over the video, so here is the conclusion:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZwVgtt3Nm4&feature=youtu.be&t=2325

Yes, how symbolic it is. She came to Sweden (I think to Sweden, I've long searched for this fragment and I have not rewatch the whole video), was helping to bring Arab immigrants, is right now helping another Arab immigrant (the guy in purple shirt) and now, when because - amongst other - her actions, he will leave the country for Israel (where her son already is), leaving the mess to the natives. And the last act she will do... will be helping the last immigrant to settle in Sweden.

Zero self-reflection. Zero.

My family is tied to the land here. I can trace my roots back to 4 different century farms in my area. I can take you to the country churches where my great grandparents, grandparents, and parents where married on both my and my wife side of the family. I can take you to the cemeteries where my forebears rest.

I am not going anywhere. In my younger days I traveled all over for both work and pleasure. I still came home. I work hard to maintain our traditions. We want those who come in to assimilate, and those who don't can keep moving.

So what has diversity brought to our communities? Higher crime rates, lower test scores, increased strain on social services, wage collapse, diversion of school resources. All things we want more of, right?

While I feel for those traditionalists who are in California and have seen their state destroyed around them, even when they are forced out they seem to bring the values they claimed to be fleeing with them. Franchise should be limited to those with skin in the game.
