An inspirational call to love

This call to love the unlovable and bring near the outcast will touch every Christian heart.
As I was finishing up an embroidery of a Maya Angelou poem while contemplating Jamie Smith’s profound and almost mystical use of parentheses and italics, I almost split my PJs and spilt my latte when I read that not-my-president Trump called the MS-13 “gang” a bunch of “animals.” With deranged determination, I tweeted my #disgust with a hearty #gross at such an outrage and I liked all my friends’ outrage-tweets. The evangelical justice league was assembled and ready for some swift twitter-action. Many evangelical leaders, from tenured seminary professors to pastors in the upper echelons of denominations, courageously denounced Trump’s comment, risking yet again their jobs, standing, and livelihood, which only by the grace of God they’ve kept after many similar risks. (I’m shocked that they still get so many book deals.) Willing to risk it all and die on the hill of human dignity, I stand with them deeply concerned with the language Trump has used to describe MS-13.

As a gospel community, we Christians should always strive to love the unlovable, to lift up the marginalized, and to bring near the outcast. We are to shower people with our gospel love. This is why we vehemently take issue with President Trump’s dehumanization of MS-13. We fully concede that these image-bearers mutilate their enemies’ children and sell young girls into prostitution, but they nevertheless possess inviolable, infinite dignity—a spark of divinity is in every person. No matter how irrational they might be, no matter how lacking in reason and judgment, no matter how devoid of natural human affection, no matter how unfit they are for human civil society, no matter how far they go in extinguishing in themselves the fundamental principles of human relations—they remain fully human. Indeed, they are just as human as you and me, and only by the grace of God are we not one of them.

When we dehumanize people, we lose the gospel. While we of the justice league don’t believe in the social gospel, we do believe that the gospel is social. The gospel declares that all persons are equal—equal in worth, in sin, and in need of grace. The gospel is the great equalizer, for all of us are sinners equally in need of it. Whether you carve your names in other people’s flesh or you fib when you tell your communications intern that his man bun accents his v-neck, we are all equally deserving of one thing: hell. All sins are violations of cosmic justice. We are therefore no better than MS-13. And that’s a good thing, for as Duke Kwon said, “It's impossible to love someone you disagree with when you secretly believe they need Jesus more than you do.” Don’t get puffed up with pride because you haven’t committed an act of (physical) violence lately.
So true. (sniff) I, for one, feel moved to write a letter to President Trump demanding that more Latin gangbangers, murderers, and sex-traffickers be granted legal residence in the United States, so that we more effectively bear witness to them.

In fact, should we not also prioritize the immigration of cannibals and rapists from Papua New Guinea, out of Christian love?

Well, it's not like any Christian would should ever use language like "Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers", "the synagogue of Satan", or "a den of thieves", is it?

This has to be satire.

"If this world is not our home, who are we to say MS-13 shouldn't be allowed in the United States?" (Paraphrased)

How would we know if it was a cannibal with a lip plate and a penis gourd or your average San Francisco freak if we kept them in the cities? We owe it to ourselves to spread them across the red state areas so we can all be enriched.

Blogger Eduardo June 04, 2018 2:01 PM

I agree... bring the MS-13 fellas in... put'em in jail along the border XD. Make Mexico pay for their convicts... build the wall with the jail houses inside them. (yes it would be a much thicker wall then they are buidling but hey, MS-13 labor is free bro.) Then you can go and try to change their minds, while they have been stopped to act in evil ways.

The problem is that, the message is too "Heaven on Earth", wasn't Christians suppose to let go of ideas of perfection in this world? The Fallen World can never be perfect, the idealism in their heads can never be true in this world.

Guess this is SJWianity!

The "we are all brothers" is an Antichrist doctrine, plain as day. The part of Antichrist is having surface plausibility as Christian doctrine while in practice subverting it via inversion. But the "we are all brothers" (leaving out the "IN CHRIST" part) is only plausible to someone who has never read the New Testament, and gets all his ostensible Christian doctrine via anti-Christian mass media.

Like, I feel there are people who might operate in the gift of deportation. Or the gift of smiting. If only they had the opportunity to utilize those gifts and serve this underprivileged group.

It's from Chronicles so it's almost certainly satire - unless they went full retard all of a sudden. On the other hand, maybe someone's applying to be a Bishop of the Swedish State-run "Church" or perhaps the United Church of Christ here in Kwa-Bananaland. The problem with satire in this day of the wild SJW herds is that even when something is as evidently over-the-top as this seems to be, the SJWs will actually come out and endorse it. Writing things to encourage such SJW behavior would have a certain trolling value all on its own.

As for "losing the Gospel"... the writer obviously has no freakin clue what the Gospel is to suggest that Christians could lose it by not sufficiently respecting murderous scum. Pure unadulterated leftist heresy to even suggest that Christians have to earn their way into Heaven by doing the "good works" of surrendering to leftist animals. Bergoglian indeed.

Blogger Ron Winkleheimer June 04, 2018 2:46 PM

Its satire. Here is the Author blurb from the end of the article.

"P.J. Somersault is an editor at The Gospel Alliance. He is the author of Gospel (Dis)traction: A Reflection on Everything Wrong with Trump’s Evangelical Supporters without Mentioning Trump or his Supporters (2018). "

'But the "we are all brothers" (leaving out the "IN CHRIST" part) is only plausible to someone who has never read the New Testament, and gets all his ostensible Christian doctrine via anti-Christian mass media.'

They also get their Christian doctrine from converged churches, and rely on their own personal experience in those churches.

It's one of the most annoying things about the subject, in my opinion. Nice people who want to get along with everybody go to churches that signal their willingness to welcome everybody, and in those churches they meet people of all races who are willing to get along with everybody... and they conclude that this is the norm, which should be expected outside their churches.

Which is stupid.

I'm sure if you gather together the members of all the races who most want to get along with people who are different from them, they will be reasonably able to get along with each other. And the others, who don't want to or don't care about getting along with people who are different, won't bother to show up in the first place.

Similarly, one Dutch immigrant did NOT believe it when I told him Mexican immigrants are more likely to abuse welfare... because the Mexican immigrants he had met were hard-working. Specifically, the probably-illegals hired by a friend's bakery, and a few cabbies here and there. So all the ones he'd met were hard-working - because he only met them THROUGH THEIR JOBS.

Blogger Mark Stoval June 04, 2018 3:40 PM

Wonderful satire. I was beginning to think that satire or parody was dead because you could just not outdo the crazies on the left running the culture these days but there it is.

On a serious note, Christianity is not a death pact. I am not required to love my enemies actions. I may properly hate the bastard's actions all I want. And I do.

Prove it you say? Well, God himself judges the actions of his human creation and he is willing to see great pain visited on many. In the afterlife there will be great eternal pain for many (most?).

As an example: if I see a dindu attacking a human, I am willing to kill him and I do not fear the Lord not liking my action.

(If a dindu asked for help to get right with the lord, I would do what I could.)

Blogger DonReynolds June 04, 2018 3:48 PM

I am very glad I have no use for what she describes as "the gospel", but she seems to confuse her version of "the gospel" with Christian faith. I suspect her own hypocrisy is revealed by the invective and venom she spewed on President Trump (and his supporters).

Where is "the gospel" when it comes to people she disagrees with? Is there a "Hug A Nazi" Day at her church or "Hug A Klansman" Day? Of course not. She has colored "the gospel" with her own political Crayolas and she knows automatically which colors she prefers.

Christianity is not a suicide cult. The faith does not expect or require any of the faithful to pet mad dogs and be nice to them, nor does it lead to Christians taking mad dogs to their own home and exposing them to the children and neighbors.

MS-13 are mad dogs and should be treated as such. They are not the only mad dogs. There are others and they should be dealt with to protect the innocent.

Too many of these useful idiots forget the humility aspect of Christianity. No matter what we do, we are not God, we are not supposed to be and we should never try to be either. We can spread the good word and help give others guidance, but it's up to them to save themselves, even God doesn't force them to be saved. If they make that choice then so be it, it's not our responsibility to fix them, especially when we CAN prevent our loved ones from being victimized by them.

Blogger freddie_mac June 04, 2018 4:55 PM

@56 tz
The only ones such people dehumanize is the unborn who are both clearly human and clearly innocent.

Referenced in the OP, but here's nifty Nancy's full quote (not sure how she was able to say such hypocrisy with a straight face -- oh yeah, botox):

"We believe that -- some of us who are attracted to the political arena, to government and public service -- that we're all God's children, there's a spark of divinity in every person on Earth, and that we all have to recognize that, as we respect the dignity and worth of every person, and as we recognize our responsibilities with that spark of divinity within us.

And so when the president of the United States says about undocumented immigrants, 'These aren't people. These are animals,' you have to wonder, does he not believe in the spark of divinity, the dignity and worth of every person? 'These are not people. These are animals.' The president of the United States.

Every day that you think you've seen it all, along comes another manifestation of why their policies are so inhumane, and why we have to continue to debate, striving for bipartisanship with openness about what is -- what is at stake and what the choices are, and to be unifying in every way possible. Calling people animals is not a good thing."

So yeah: "spark of divinity" in MS13 members, but not the unborn.

Don't worry, when a dindu says to you, "Have a blessed day," 75% of the time, they are suggesting that you are beneath them, and "you" need to get right with God. Pretty much like a Hindu Brahman, they figure that their holy self is so much superior to you, well, you could just never understand how redemption works as you are a White Devil. The author is a member of "The Gospel Alliance" which was founded by the Reformed Church of America. The RCA holds to a Calvinist position, that God's grace is irresistible to the "elect" (those God has already chosen to be saved).

After reading much of the article, it struck me that the author is inconsistent with his own beliefs. Either God's grace is irresistible to the elect and those God has chosen will be saved or it is not irresistible and human action can affect people's decision to accept Christ.

If the "elect" is true/correct, then it cannot matter what Trump or anyone else calls someone, i.e. animal. An "elect" person will, in God's time, be saved, because God has already ordained it.

So, why would the author get so worked up and be concerned about these "equal value" human beings, if their destiny is pre-determined by God?

Inconsistencies like this are common among left-wing thought, which I do not think this author or group hold to, given their positions on marriage, etc. However, left-wing thought is indicative of poor thinking or poor logical application. Many, including this author, suffer from this.

If you yake the "W" from an SJW, you have "SJ," initials of the Society of Jesus, which has its own section in the library of conspirative theoretics.

Is or was the current Pintiff a Jesuit?

Blogger Mr.MantraMan June 04, 2018 6:27 PM

I'm going to have to get a twitter account where I can post SJW calls to actions from various sub cults of the left to other sub cults of the left. See I really have my doubts that a black racial equalitarian will want to take in a Latin gang banger with facial tatoos but you know they should live their creed.

I honestly read the first paragraph of that quote and thought that it was sarcasm.

Then I read the rest of it with an ever increasing sense of wonder that THIS PERSON IS ACTUALLY SERIOUS AAHAHAHAHAHA

Blogger guardianDogg June 04, 2018 6:56 PM

I almost thought the writer was joking for a few minutes and then I was confused and then I have to wonder what kind of God this person believes in. I don't think it's right to dehumanize people but I do think it's delusional to turn a blind eye to people given over to their evil desires pretending you wouldn't protect you own with fire-arm if such person moved next door to you.

@61 tuberman

I could not agree with you more.

"It's usually a sign for you to kiss-butt and virtue-signal."

I would never signal virtue. I don't even understand why people do that stuff. A man is virtuous in God's eyes or he is not. No need to send off signals.

And this is as good a place to mention this as any I guess. The must be a whole level of hell just for the SJWs. One way, way down there.

There is satire and there is tragedy.

"King Heroin is my shepherd, I shall always want.
He makes me to lie down in the gutters."
"He leads me beside the troubled waters.
He destroys my soul.
He leads me in the paths of wickedness."
"Yes, I shall walk through the valley of poverty
and will fear no evil
for you, heroin, are with me."
"Your needle and your capsule comfort me."
"You strip the table of groceries
in the presence of my family."
"You rob my head of reason.
My cup of sorrow runs over."
"Surely heroin addiction shall stalk me
all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the damned forever."

Jesus, these churchian idiots may as well throw out the Old Testament as there was lots of "dehumanizing" even from David a man after God's own heart.

"The reason I'm not a Christian is, it opens the door to this kind of reasoning."

That's sad but that milktoast teaching is a product of feminism/satanic.

Additional to freddie mac’s comment;

Ever try to get custody of your child when the wife leaves?

In THAT circumstance, when custody comes with money and prizes, the mother’s special emotional attachment reigns supreme.

But when the child is an unborn inconvenience this special maternal relationship magically disappears from cultural and legal view.

Self-contradiction is a sign you’re at least half wrong.

The Left's reaction to the G-E's MS-13 remarks are truly a gift from God. Nothing will drive decent white people from the Dem party better than this crap.

More please!

Blogger Monster June 05, 2018 11:39 AM

This is incredibly well-written satire. The author also has nothing to do with "The Gospel Alliance", it was just one last jab at Churchianity, as are all the linked quotes in the article. Some select humorous quotes below for the doubtful:

"We men all have a deep desire to destroy. The attraction to this general pleasure is not in itself sinful, but can quickly become sinful in the form of either toxic masculinity (e.g., Jordan Peterson) or beating innocent men with clubs. The point is that deep down, we’re all the same, with the same fundamental structure that may or may not lead to sin. Perhaps, in affirming our common struggles, the church can make room for a spiritual friendship between MS-13 and those whose toes they want to cut off."

"If Jesus were on earth today he might be as tatted and dark as the MS-13. Would he be allowed through the doors of your church? And even if MS-13 inflicts some harm on the US, don’t we deserve it? Slavery, Jim Crow, Native Americans, the Chinese Exclusion Act, homosexuals, unappreciated single women—haven’t we done enough to deserve the judgment of God?"

"As followers of Christ, we cannot pick and choose who gets more justice and mercy. And anyway, if for example a non-Christian loses a spouse by MS-13 violence, we can comfort them with a book on the gift of singleness by my friend who also writes for my website."

"So rest in gospel-peace; relax into gospel-comfort. And let us continue running the race, not as if running away from MS-13 murderers, but away from our exploitive and safe suburban lifestyle. Far from being animals, these gang members are exactly the sort of human beings we need, dignified agents of God hastening the day when we meet the Lord face-to-face."

Blogger Tars Tarkusz June 05, 2018 11:44 AM

This article struck me as very tongue-in-cheek. The line about pastors risking their livelihood by spouting progressive talking points really stuck out at me as satirical. Though I have to admit some of the lines in there made me doubt.

That anyone thinks this was real just shows that you have seen churchians saying very similar stuff.
