Comic Book Review: Alt-Hero: Crackdown

Bounding Into Comics reviews Alt★Hero #1:
The road to publication that Alt-Hero: Crackdown has traveled is well known by many who follow comics. Creator/writer Vox Day introduced us to the idea for his creation some time ago and it made an insane amount of money on the online fundraising platform, Freestartr. It was met with almost equal parts excitement and anger. Some saw it as a return to classic comics from someone other than the “Big 2,” some saw it as a natural response to the increasingly leftist slant most modern comics were developing and pushing, and some saw it as a mean-spirited jab at people with different views as them. I’m not here to talk about any of that though. This is a review and all that matters is whether the book was any good or not. So was it? Actually, yeah. It was pretty good.

The best satire is the kind that while reading it, you’re not too sure if it’s actually satire or not. Alt-Hero: Crackdown excels in this area on nearly every page. It’s nice to read a comic story directly for those of us who tire of the constant barrage of hard left-wing ideology and it’s even better that the focus is NOT on political agendas, but rather, telling a good story. Some of the bigger comic publishers should take a few notes.
Go there to see what kind of rating they gave the inaugural issue....

Media needs to start with a 'Review Handicap' adjustor.

A product that is coddled, supported and financed by the left automatically gets numerous demerits, whereas one that goes against the big machine gets upward adjustors.

Just sayin'

I can't wait for the Alt-Hero crossover with the Netflix drag queen superheroes:

It seems to be unavailable to purchase from the UK. Which is a shame as I’d like to purchase a few copies to distribute to those guilty of “bad think” in our prisons.

Another step forward. By the time the competition catches on, it will be too late.

It will be soon via Castalia Books Direct. But you can get it via Amazon.co.uk now.

Well done Vox. I am a backer and just ordered 10 initially. I’ve been waiting for these for a long time and will get them into appreciative hands 👍

Thanks... thanks, and thanks. The enthusiasm for #1 has made it a lot easier for me to make some of the choices I did that will be seen very soon in #2.

And, I think, for the team to put in the extra efforts that they have. I'll do a Darkstream talking about this in a few weeks.

Another favorable review for Alt★Hero #1. It's a strong start for Vox and team right out of the gate. Have they hit a leadoff home run in the first inning? Can they sustain this level of critical success let alone be commercially viable?

Can't wait for the collections. Any concept art for those of us who ordered the Rebel figurine?

Not a leadoff homerun. More like a leadoff double. A great start, but needs followup to score. And the opposing pitcher is still fresh.

Ordered mine (3 copies) from Castalia Books direct on a Tuesday night (5/29) and received it on Saturday (6/2). Solid packaging and the copies were mint inside.

Castalia Direct is damned fast with the shipping and fulfillment.

When they say three days on the shipping, they mean two, and basically none for pulling and packing.

That's two orders in a row now that have been two days and a few hours from order to setting in my PO Box.

Very nice to see that the backend work is just as well done as the product itself.

I'm really excited about this project. The first issue was quite solid. Looking forward for more!
