Quit Crossfit

It will be informative to see how many Christians value their faith more than their body and leave their CrossFit programs as a result of CrossFit's anti-Christian bigotry.
A high-ranking CrossFit employee was fired after tweeting his support for a CrossFit gym’s cancellation of a Pride event, citing his belief that celebrating LGBT pride is a “sin.”

Russell Berger was the mega-successful fitness company’s chief knowledge officer, often de facto spokesperson, and a co-author of the Russells, a blog about scientific misconduct that he maintained with colleague Russell Greene.

But Berger got into hot water Wednesday afternoon when he tweeted about a CrossFit gym in Indianapolis, Indiana, where owners canceled a workout in honor of Pride Month. Many of the coaches and employees quit in protest, according to WTTV TV in Indianapolis. On Wednesday, the gym posted notices that it was shutting down.

"As someone who personally believes celebrating 'pride' is a sin, I'd like to personally encourage #CrossFitInfiltrate for standing by their convictions and refusing to host an @indypride workout,” Berger wrote. “The intolerance of the LGBTQ ideology toward any alternative views is mind-blowing.”

At first, Berger was placed on an unpaid leave of absence. But later on Wednesday, CrossFit announced on Twitter that he had been fired.

"The statements made today by Russell Berger do not reflect the views of CrossFit Inc.," the company said. "For this reason, his employment with CrossFit has been terminated." Shortly before Berger was placed on leave, CrossFit founder and CEO Greg Glassman told BuzzFeed News that he did not stand by Berger’s views, which he called “appalling.” CrossFit’s official Twitter account also quoted him as saying, “I am crazy proud of the gay community in CrossFit.”

“He needs to take a big dose of ‘shut the fuck up' and hide out for awhile. It’s sad,” Glassman said in an interview. “We do so much good work with such pure hearts — to have some zealot in his off-time do something this stupid, we’re all upset. The whole company is upset. This changes his standing with us. What that looks like, I don’t know. It’s so unfortunate.”
In addition to not supporting anti-Christian organizations that celebrate sin, Christians also must stop offering toleration in the workplace that they are no longer shown. Remember, the new standards is whether the statements made by an employee reflect the views of the employer or not. That means it is perfectly acceptable to fire anyone who states that sin is okay, that Jesus Christ never existed, or that Donald Trump should be impeached.

I've only visited a CrossFit gym once, and to be honest, I wasn't impressed. Spacebunny was more interested in the program than I was. But neither of us will ever be trying it now.

This is why it was a massive mistake to stop enforcing the blasphemy laws. Freedom of speech was a Trojan Horse. Its chief proponents never believed in it for a second, they only wanted to use it to undermine Christian culture. And if you don't defend your culture, you will lose your culture.

  2. Two things.

    1) You can now link directly to this site using the .com version now on Twitter. Vox must be off the watch list over there after all this time.

    2) If the employee was fired for supporting what one of their own gyms did; what happens to the owners running that gym? Are they to go unpunished?

  5. OT, but over at the Unz Review there's a book that the military historians here might find interesting:

TL;DR - Stalin was planning to invade & conquer all of Europe some time in 1941, but Hitler's pre-emptive invasion scuppered those plans.

That’s why nationalism is now beyond the pale.

  9. Not so much the anti-Blasphemy laws. (((The Merchants of Sin))) made obscenity and pornography legal.

There would be no Pride month if they couldn't engage in public abomination. But that was made possible by dropping the shields against porn.

I forget the exact statistic and I'm not sure I trust it, but apparently half of the Christian men are addicted to porn. Also count the number of obese in the pews next Sunday. Self-control, fortitude, temperance, prudence are no longer practiced virtues among Christians - and I'm not sure if the world or Christians are leading the other.

But there are three enemies - the Devil who people rarely talk about, the World which is the establishment, swamp, fame, but also the Flesh.

This is where Jordan Peterson fails - nowhere does he say to fix your health and become strong in body, mind, and spirit. Just clean your room. But Lust, Sloth, and Gluttony are the cardinal deadly sins of the body.

    "It's practically a cult."

I think it IS a cult. I visited one of their gyms three years ago, looking to see what it actually was. I was informed it was a "Box" not a "Gym". And there were all sorts of code words/jargon (like "Box")to weed out those that belonged from those that didn't.

Then I was told that the diet at the "Box" is the Paleo diet. And I won't succeed without it. "We can't help you unless you adopt the Paleo diet." Blah blah blah.

It was damned creepy. I left and never looked back.

  11. Crossfit has always been a socially policed organization in every aspect.

I knew it was going to be like this even 6-7 years ago when the military was experimenting with it.

    I called it WomanFit.

  12. Glassman certainly blathers like a fag: "crazy proud", "so much good work with such pure hearts".

    This.

Although my orthopedic colleagues are enjoying the pick-up in business from all the shoulder injuries kipping pull-ups and sumo deadlift high pulls are providing.

    ReplyDelete
  14. And to be perfectly clear, when I say "socially policed" I mean that it was more about charisma and momentum than anything and everything else. I certainly feel "some kind of way" about that, and it isn't ambivalent, as that's exactly the principles you expect from a con-game, or as others have mentioned, a cult.

  15. Crossfit is just a circuit of Olympic lifts in random order. The random WOD is the corporate hook to have something to sell. Look at the little fat guy behind it all to see how it works. Cross training is good, circuit training has its place; Crossfit is half cult, half fad, and all bad.

  20. It is now blasphemy to fail to endorse gay pride and blasphemy to fail to genuflect to Islam. The insane cognitive dissonance of the liberal utopian.

You can have multiculturalism or you can have a nation. You can't have both. Jesus is a flag; a red stained cross/ without which all that is left is a white flag background. People who stand for nothing fall for anything.

Until now I had no idea Crossfit was still going. When it first came out years ago I spent many hours laughing at compilation videos of crofitters hitting a tire with a hammer and calling it a workout.

"TL;DR - Stalin was planning to invade & conquer all of Europe some time in 1941, but Hitler's pre-emptive invasion scuppered those plans."

For those who doubt the "Icebreaker" hypothesis, it is considered common knowledge in Poland. Before Operation Barbarossa, the Soviet Union was supplying Germany with various sorts of materiel -- food, fuel, ammo, etc.

In his diary, Hitler wrote that he HAD to invade the Soviet Union when he did -- that he had no choice.

This is where it gets interesting.

Anyone who has played an eastern-front wargame knows that the guage of captured rail-line has to be changed before it can be used. In Poland, there were rail yards which were dual-guaged, precisely for transferring cargo from Russian guage (5 foot) to Western (4 foot 8.5 inch) guage. In the weeks before Barbarossa, there was a sudden change. Deliveries increased rapidly, making the switching yards so full they were almost inoperable. The cargoes were mostly food and fuel, with little to no ammunition.

The immediate conclusion -- the Soviets were pre-emplacing supplies to capture in preparation for an invasion of German-held territory.

Thus, the only reasonable response -- invade the Soviet Union before the Soviets invaded them.

As I stated above -- this is considered common knowledge in Poland.

  28. I knew a girl in college who joined the cult. She was a bit on the chubby side. After a couple years she was still a bit on the chubby side and had these ridiculous, manly traps that she was proud of for some reason.

Wonder if he goes around muttering: "don't be evil, Don't be Evil, DON'T BE EVIL" all day and night.

  37. I know that the U.S. doesn't follow it's own religious discrimination laws for Christians, but this type of thing is against the stated law right?

    https://www.eeoc.gov/laws/types/religion.cfm

Ripe for a lawsuit there? Yet some would say "Christians are not to sue in court..." That's not the whole context. Christians are instructed not to sue their own "brothers;" that is, those who also follow Jesus, in court. For the rest? Why do we stand down and let the world weaponize our morals against us?

  46. Pride is one of the Seven Deadly sins. I assume there are some contexts on which it would be okay for an employee to speak out against it. Let's run a thought experiment.

Say someone professed "white pride" and mentioned the 14 words. Would it be okay to denounce that pride as sinful. Yes.

Say the U2 song Pride (In the Name Love) came up. Would it be okay to point out that as a Christian Bono should not be valorizing pride? No.

LGTBBWASAP, well, we've already covered that.

What's the lesson. I forgot the subject. It's just easier to pop an opioid and chill in front of the t.v. at this point.

  47. Well, since my shoulder is borked... my mate who runs a Xfit gym will not get me back unless things change.

And this guy should sue Crossfit.

  49. Right along with Pride month, the YouTube homepage has "spotlighted" numerous War on Beauty propaganda videos to drive the message home. I would post a link to the one I watched but it's too degenerate to encourage traffic.

It's interesting to watch these and be on the look out for any mention of their "queerness" being used a coping mechanism. Without fail, they will always say that it is; the damage that homosexuality and deviancy does is so transparent it isn't even funny (literally).

  50. I spent many hours laughing at compilation videos of crofitters hitting a tire with a hammer and calling it a workout.

I drive by a cross-fit gym on the way home from work. I regularly see them doing goofy crap on the sidewalk in front of the gym (really? you don't have enough room in the gym for the workouts? You have to use the public sidewalk?). Yesterday, some guy was picking up a medicine ball like thing, holding it over his head, and throwing it down onto the pavement. (it wasn't the big kind that you'd see in an old Three Stooges movie, it was maybe the size of a soccer ball, but no bounce to it).

I sat there at the stop light watching this guy pick up the ball, hold it dramatically over his head, then hurl it two-handed to the pavement, strut a few steps away, come back, and do it again.

    In public.

  54. Cross-fit is interesting, in that is has become a parody of what it was rebelling against.

The original premise -- break out of the standard routine -- do a wider variety of exercises to work more muscles, is fundamentally sound.

Now they've degenerated into the same sort of non-conformist conformity that Mad Magazine was making fun of as early as the late 1950s.... 60 years ago!

Oh, and destroying their health as well. The whole idea of making rhabdomyolysis a goal of exercising is utterly insane.

The military's interest in cross-fit began when 1 platoon in the 82nd Airborne utterly destroyed the rest of the division in physical fitness performance. Their platoon sergeant was working the (early) cross-fit principles [have a significantly larger set of exercises in the rotation, so that most exercises are no more than 1 set per week or longer]. This was AFTER the division Command Sergeant Major had expressed dismay at some of the exercises they were doing -- but the platoon sergeant asked for evaluation of results (the next physical fitness test coming up in about 2 months) before condemnation of his methods.

The current cross-fit culture of exercising until you puke and endangering your kidneys -- fortunately, we have regulations against that sort of thing. Any physical fitness leader causing such conditions among soldiers would find himself facing disciplinary action.
