Merkel's CDU falling

More Germans have had enough of the worst Kanzler since Mr. Hitler.
Support for German Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservative bloc, trying to move beyond a bitter dispute over migrant policy that threatened the coalition, has fallen to its lowest level since 2006, a poll showed on Sunday.

The Emnid poll published in Bild am Sonntag showed Merkel's Christian Democrats and their sister party, Bavaria's Christian Social Union (CSU), down one percentage point at 29 percent. That compares with 33 percent in the September election.

The CSU faces a tough regional election in October with polls showing it could lose its absolute majority in Bavaria.

The Social Democrats (SPD), who share power with the conservatives in Merkel's coalition, failed to capitalise on those losses, also falling one point to 18 percent.

The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) was unchanged at 15 percent while the Greens rose 2 points to 14 percent, their best showing this year, according to Bild am Sonntag.
Translation: AfD is probably at 20 percent already. Of course, the way in which the parties of Right and Left are willing to work together against the nationalists just serves to demonstrate that ideology does not run as deep as identity.

Once identity enters the picture, all politics is identity politics.

All Merkel and Junker and Macron can do is dig the hole deeper.

Whereas the populists are offering ladders and hands to get the hostages (read: Europeans) out of that hole.

Pretty funny to watch the cycle. The policies that led to this were put into place long before, but voters continue to ask the question, why. They get GDP thrown back at them. Hilarious how they did that to Trump, can't ever see 4% GDP in any quarter without immigration. That's the deception. It would be nice if less government & more private industry but it's about using a more twisted mantra of that kind to pursue other interests amenable to the crowd who couldn't give a damn either way.

It won't shock me if the Bavarians start jumping ship from Merkel's coalition.
They were one of the last holdouts before the original German Unification in 1871, and have never really loved being tied to the rest of the states.

The EU is one economic downturn away from dissolution. Voters, whether rightly or wrongly, blame the party in power for an economic downturn. If an economic downturn occurs in France or Germany, voters will replace the incumbents. The anti-EU parties there are ready. France or Germany withdrawing from the EU will mark the beginning of the last phase of the EU.

"Christian Democrats."

An oxymoron if ever there was one.

Blogger Johnny July 29, 2018 1:04 PM

Considering the goofy crap that is going on, I find it deeply disappointing that there isn't a stronger reaction from the public. The political class pushes this stuff, but without widespread disinterest and passive support it would have all ended shortly after Merkel declared open boarders.

Ain't it something. A hundred years ago the Europeans were the power to be reckoned with, and now they are giving away their home territory.

There is however a problem with the growth of the Green party, they are truly for open for borders and would invite the world in if they had power.

Blogger JC Skinner July 29, 2018 1:22 PM

The Green vote is another protest vote against the mainstream parties. The problem is that they tend to tank economies, as they did when in minority government roles in Ireland and Germany in the past. Also, they take a firmly globalist perspective to politics.

Francis The Pope

We’re probably going to see further polarization before the end. The moderate position grows increasingly untenable but the extremists will be the last to concede.

If they ever do.

OT but related;

The NYT threatens reporters with violence unless Trump stops calling them enemies of the people.

Of course that’s not exactly how they wrote the headline.

Say, nice bunch of reporters you got there ....

>stronger reaction from the public
Both the CDU and the SPD can count on the 65+ cohort as a bedrock who'll vote for them in any circumstance. It's the 25 to 64 cohort that is already voting nearly 30% for the AfD.

Meanwhile other open displays of discontent are "handled" by Antifa or other methods, like PEGIDA being crashed into irrelevance by it's main organiser.

And Salvini is being compared to Satan, which means he is doing everything right!

Yeah, I reposted it in the next thread because it was more on topic there.

Anyone else notice yesterday a Molyneux video entitled "Why People Hate Trump" flashed on the notifications for a minute, then disappeared? It'sll not up.

Could mean nothing, or ...

Considering the latest scandal we're having over here, I would say someone is trying very hard to fling Macron into the hole he dug.

And yet they just can't seem to shake Merkel off. Her political demise has been "imminent" for quite some time now.

@19. "And yet they just can't seem to shake Merkel off. Her political demise has been "imminent" for quite some time." - Robert What

Merkel and what she represents in the European Union is part of a larger narrative documented in the Book of Revelation.

“The end-times beast is the new version of the pagan Roman empire. This end-times beast is manifested politically in the godless European Union. It is lead spiritually through apostate Rome under the Vatican II antipopes and the Vatican II antichurch. The European Union is the political dimension of the end-times beast.”

That is the gist of the argument, found in this link below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAuC7ZJVZQ8

And while I can appreciate a video can be rhetoric, this one is compelling and its larger position plays to reasonable arguments (approx. 3 minutes).

The Catholic monastery that produced this video would claim that since Vatican Council II in the 1960s, and earlier with the installation of antipope John XIII in 1958, the Catholic church has been taken over by the enemy and that the true Catholic Church, the continuation of the apostolic and early Christian church, remains today only in a remnant. The, too, are very anti-churchian. And yes, their monastery is “sedevacantists” which is Latin for ‘seat is vacant’ referring to the seat of Peter.

"They were one of the last holdouts before the original German Unification in 1871, and have never really loved being tied to the rest of the states."

Once nationalism gets into full swing, everybody will have a nation. German-Americans cannot coexist with Norwegian-Americans. The various "German" peoples cannot coexist with each other. This will happen all over the world. A cultural divide between Sydney and Perth means an Australia divided.

just to clarify:

communists+socialists+cucks @ 61%.

(((Kasner))) alias Merkel may be around for awhile yet.

Blogger Franz Lyonheart July 29, 2018 4:38 PM

Not sure AFD will be at 20%. I don't think the corruption in terms of polls measurement is quite as deep in Germany as it is in the USA.

Assume AFD at 17, and CDU at 27, that means only 5% ish have to change their mind or have had enough, for the AFD to overtake the CDU. That would be monumental and would create a further gravitic push.

The AFD is far from perfect, I much prefer Kurz and the freedom party (FPÖ) in Austria, or Salvini in Italy, or even UKIP as and when Farage will take over again. I guess Germany is a bit more difficult, but tbh its problems are alcohol much bigger.

Blogger Franz Lyonheart July 29, 2018 4:40 PM

Hahaha..... "are also much bigger."

I guess Germany's troubles can drive any patriotic expat into drink.... 😂

Blogger Franz Lyonheart July 29, 2018 4:41 PM

PS. Ceterum censeo Merkel muß weg!

Blogger Not Important July 29, 2018 4:51 PM

Political inertia is baked into the German constitution, essentially making sure that either someone from the SPD or CDU will be chancellor.

And to remove Merkel would require a revolt in her party, except there's nobody to revolt because anybody who could be competition to her either commited career suicide, recieved a sinecure somewhere far away or left the party in a purge.
And the Bavarians? Sure they like to talk tough but when push comes to shove they'll always back down. Complete pushovers.

Blogger Snidely Whiplash July 29, 2018 5:49 PM

Ain't it something. A hundred years ago the Europeans were the power to be reckoned with, and now they are giving away their home territory.

With the exception of France, European politics has been controlled by the US and Russia for the last 75 years. Germany in particular has been completely brainwashed, subjugated and deracinated thanks to the (((US State Dept))).

Blogger nswhorse July 29, 2018 7:26 PM

So we have Christian socialists, Christian democrats, and socialist democrats all combined in one evil conglomerate. I presume the Christian bit of the two Christian parties is for decorative purposes only.

Blogger God Emperor Memes July 29, 2018 7:36 PM

At least Hitler wanted to *unite* the German people, unlike Frau Merkel.

Blogger Zwiebel July 31, 2018 3:08 PM

@Franz - Much more widespread than you think. I personally know people who served as election volunteers, and were told to ignore votes that didn't have a candidate marked. Now, the AfD, as a pretty young party, didn't have candidates everywhere, so lots of AfD votes were tossed out - complete bs, of course, you don't have to vote for a candidate, you can vote party only.
