Chuck Dixon's Avalon #2

Arkhaven Comics is proud to announce the release of the digital edition of CHUCK DIXON'S AVALON #2: RULEBREAKER. Kindle and CBZ editions have already been sent out to Alt★Hero campaign backers.

Detective Ben Church is hot on the heels of the vigilante who murdered a city councilman in broad daylight. But agents of the UN Superhuman Protection Council are interfering with his investigation, even as they claim that they can help him clean up Avalon City. Should he believe them? More importantly, can he trust them?

Meanwhile, King Ace has dealt with his partner-in-crimefighting Fazer's little slip-up with regards to the unwritten Hero's Code, but that doesn't keep them from going after the notorious crime boss, Nicodemus Vukovich, together. The problem, King Ace discovers, is that there is a lot of temptation to be found in a wealthy crime lord's uptown apartment. Perhaps too much temptation for anyone....

Chuck Dixon is the most prolific comic book writer in history. Set in the world of Alt★Hero, CHUCK DIXON'S AVALON #2: RULEBREAKER is the legend's newest creation.

In other Alt★Hero-related news, Arkhaven Comics is pleased to announce that the Gold Logo edition of Alt★Hero #4: The War in Paris is now available at Arkhaven Direct. Please note that a large retailer has already ordered a not-insignificant fraction of the total number available, so if you want the limited edition issue, it would be best not to wait on this one.

Cliff Cosmic, Richard Bonk, and Arklight Studios are currently hard at work on Alt★Hero Issues #5 and #6, so it looks very promising for the first paperback and hardcover omnibuses to come out in plenty of time for Christmas. We also expect to release the first Premium editions soon. There is no new news on the film front.

UPDATE: It looks like the publication date problem is fixed.

Read and reviewed on Amazon. This is a very good issue number 2 and the possible web of future conflicts looks to make an exciting series.

Downloaded and pulled own from Amazon for reading over lunch.

My apologies for the spam... must have been an errant cookie. Although the magic number seems to be 16 copies is about $9 shipping. While 17 will cost you $22.

Blogger Forge the Sky September 13, 2018 12:21 PM

This is good! The series is taking about the perfect amount of time to establish the setting and characters, then pulling them straight into conflicts both internal and external.

Very tight writing for just 52 mostly-graphic pages!

Blogger Forge the Sky September 13, 2018 12:22 PM

@mike mike

I suspect they might need to use a larger box past 16 copies.

"Film front" ??? :D

I do think there might be something not working correctly with the direct store... I can't get to the payment screen. Might be a problem with my local machine but I tried it on my phone too and couldn't place my order.

I do think there might be something not working correctly with the direct store.

Considering how many people are successfully utilizing it today, the problem is almost certainly on your end.

Will there be a single book of the first episodes? I seem to recall an option for this during the free starter campaign. A large hardback with all the early issues sounds good.

Kind of like this, only not as much money. http://www.themartianlegion.com/
Can you imagine paying as much as $15,000 for a book? The minimum entry is $200, but they do throw in free shipping:)

Just ordered, but this popped up during the ordering process: "Preorder Notice: The product 'Alt-Hero #4: The War in Paris' will be available on or before 2018-09-28. Your credit card will be authorized today but not billed until the item is sent."

Yes. The relevant backers will all receive an omnibus containing issues 1-6.

Are you in Europe or the UK?

@11: USA

I ordered from the USA and got the same notice.

Another excellent issue!

Blogger VD September 13, 2018 1:24 PM

In that case, don't worry about it. They'll print them up and ship them much sooner than that. But I will check, just to see what's up with that notice.

Blogger Tars Tarkusz September 13, 2018 1:27 PM

@11 Will they be available for non-backers or is it limited to the backers?

Blogger Longtime Lurker September 13, 2018 1:38 PM

@15: Cool.

The backers get a unique cover. But otherwise, they will be available.

Vox, that happened before where the pub date was in the future and the system was calling out pre-orders, probably automatically. Change the pub date to the present or a past date and that should clear it up.

Blogger tuberman September 13, 2018 1:58 PM

I ordered all four Alt-Hero comics from Arkhaven direct, and they will arrive in two packages. These are for showing around.

The pub date is September 11, 2018....

Blogger Dave September 13, 2018 2:15 PM

Strange, wonder where the system is picking up 9/28?

I believe it was CDA #1 where the pub date was initially 5 days in the future and it kept calling it a pre-order until the pub date was changed and then I ordered and had my copies three days later (extra $1.50 for express shipping)

Blogger Dave September 13, 2018 2:25 PM

Vox, the Aerbook page is showing a 9/28 pub date.

Blogger Tars Tarkusz September 13, 2018 3:04 PM

@18 thanks!

Blogger SirHamster September 13, 2018 3:33 PM

Doh, missed it by a day. Wanted to make sure I got the 1st release of Gun Ghoul.

Keep releasing more print comics and I'll pick it up soon ...

Blogger dh September 13, 2018 3:54 PM

Any reason why we can't purchase #2 in print format, but we can for #1? I'd like to get them in paper format. I haven't been able to make it work for me in electronic format - I mean it works - just not enjoyable as I'd hoped.

Blogger VD September 13, 2018 4:06 PM

Any reason why we can't purchase #2 in print format, but we can for #1?

Yes, it takes more time to finish the print version. Wait two weeks and it will be available.

Yep. Was Aerbook's system spitting out some arbritary date?

Blogger VD September 13, 2018 6:04 PM

Was Aerbook's system spitting out some arbritary date?

Looks like it. It's still in development.

Blogger Lovekraft September 13, 2018 7:06 PM

@ VD: Is this an arc of, say, 12 issues that will be coming out in a graphic novel at some point? U may have answered this somewhere, if so, apologies.

Blogger VD September 13, 2018 9:17 PM

Is this an arc of, say, 12 issues that will be coming out in a graphic novel at some point?

They'll be coming out in collections of six issues.

Blogger CoolHand September 14, 2018 12:47 AM

I'm in, as always.

Just ran the numbers (shouldn't have done that), and if this keeps up, you'll have consumed every bit of the money I was going to spend on a new rear-end housing for my racecar.

Hope you're happy Vox, you're hampering the speed of this particular redneck.

For some reason I'm not as pissed off as I should be.

Maybe those ComicsGate imprinted Gun Ghoul's I bought last week will appreciate enough to pay for TWO quick change rears instead of just the one?

Probably not in time for next season, but here's hoping anyway.

Wow, action plus the added dimension of moral dillema. The ending smashed at least one stereotype and trope. Good read.
