Foreign entanglements

One significant aspect of immigration that is often overlooked is the way in which it tends to increase tensions between the two countries involved.
Speaking last month at a Washington think tank, Rushan Abbas relayed tales of suffering she had heard about China’s repression of ethnic Uighur Muslims — including the detention of members of her husband’s family in a widespread system of mass internment camps.

Within six days, Abbas’ ailing sister and elderly aunt disappeared from their homes in northwest China. No family members or neighbors have heard from them in more than a month.

Abbas is an American citizen and Virginia resident; her sister has two daughters and both live in the United States. They all assume the women are being detained in the camps, which Western analysts estimate hold up to 1 million people.

Abbas said they had fallen victim to the persecution against which she had been campaigning — and because of her.

“I’m exercising my rights under the U.S. Constitution as an American citizen,” Abbas, a business consultant, said from her 12th-floor office in Rosslyn, Virginia, overlooking the Key Bridge and Potomac River. “They shouldn’t punish my family members for this.”
Why should the USA care how China treats its own citizens? Why shouldn't China punish the family members of a disloyal citizen? And why should China care what happen to be the rights under the U.S. Constitution?

The neo-liberal world order is a huge, unwieldy mass of contradictions and false narratives. That's why it is collapsing even faster than the Soviet Union did.

Nor should we care about the fate of Muslim Brotherhood/Deep state/Iranian operative Kashoggi...But it's really hard to get the concept of "none of our business/we don't care" through to many "conservatives" who have been raised on interventionism.

Ditto. Abbas has got legislation proposed through Marco Rubio, and has Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-VA) demanding answers for her. And Abbas has only been in Virginia since 2009. Damn few actual Virginian can claim this level of engagement from the government that nominally represents us.

We need to suspend all immigration from China until we figure out what the heck is going on.

Blogger tublecane October 20, 2018 5:02 PM

Regarding the fake right, caring about China's domestic policy used to be justified on grounds of self-defense or defense of "interests" (i.e. empire). Often as nit, it would come from what Claes Ryn called their Jacobin ideology. Which is something they share with large swathes of the left.

From the article:

“China needs to respect international laws,” Abbas said. “This is so childish, what they’re doing — taking hostage the family members of someone who left when she was 21.”

Sweet Jesus the Christ, I want to slap these f*cking people. It's China. WTF were they expecting for doing what she did? Days of wine and roses?

And then they want the rest of us to care (and Do Something™)?

“It is not mistreatment,” Li Xiaojun, the director for publicity at the Bureau of Human Rights Affairs of the State Council Information Office, told reporters on Thursday, according to Reuters. “What China is doing is to establish professional training centres – educational centres.”

Li added: “If you do not say it’s the best way, maybe it’s the necessary way to deal with Islamic or religious extremism, because the west has failed in doing so. Look at Belgium, look at Paris, look at some other European countries. You have failed.”

After we took Kuwait from Iraq, and of all things reinstalled the previously ruling sheik, he declined to let the Palestinians back into the country. When told by our press that he should let them back in, he said something along the lines of "Why don't you take them in?" I suppose if then was now we just might do it.

At some point we are going to figure out that the world is not a nice place, and that pretending that it is, is a loser.

Caravan Puts Trump Legacy on the Line

by Pat Buchanan, American Renaissance

https://www.amren.com/commentary/2018/10/caravan-puts-trump-legacy-on-the-line/

"It also now appears that the U.S. elections, not three weeks away, may be affected by another immigration crisis on the U.S. border.

"As of Thursday, a caravan of 4,000 refugees without visas had crossed from Honduras into Guatemala and was heading toward Mexico. By Election Day, it will either have been stopped, or it will be here. And this caravan is a portent of things to come."

This could effect the elections. Good or bad? Depends on how Trump handles it I guess.

The price we pay for domestically produced oil is set by world market prices. We want that high enough to support fracking costs, but not so high it seriously harms people's wallets.

Letting the PRC take over East Asia wouldn't be good for us, and we also export to all of those regions.

Any objections by Mr. McCain are clearly moral failings on his part!

Blogger tz October 20, 2018 8:28 PM

There is and should be a "Lot's wife" consideration to those who neither fight nor leave.

This will be a big problem among the SieveGnats in the demographically better areas in the USA. They will moan and cry over their bretheren (literally - brothers and sisters) being hacked to death by whatever antifa on steroids after the SHTF happens on the coasts or the blue pimples.

NO. LET THEM DIE. Like Lot's wife that decided to look longingly back at the sodomite horror that was her home. Like those who laughed at Noah.

I take no joy, but merely realize that they will want to continue the "vibrancy" that caused their destruction. If they escape now, fine. If they wait until the entirely predictable result of their folly overtakes them, let them suffer the consequences.

Blogger tz October 20, 2018 8:32 PM

To clarify @27 - the SeiveGnats in safe areas must NOT be allowed to pull in anyone from the areas that are going to have at least 3 of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. We know it is going to happen. We can tell them. Either they get on a lifeboat of the Titanic now or go down with the ship.

It is not mercy to forgive much less promote foolishness. While I'm big on Divine Mercy (see St. Faustina), it is cheapened when it is used to excuse support or permissiveness toward grave sin.

Blogger GammaCatch October 20, 2018 8:34 PM

You all ought see O'Reilly trying to hold it together on Youtube. The "both sides are at fault"/"I'd fire someone who {uses effective rhetoric against The Left}" garbage is the meme of "The Old (&Progressive) Right". False equivalency leads to endless self condemnation and allowances for The left under the guise, and assumption of THEIR honesty.

We know better. The ends of their #peaceatanycost is exactly what the OP describes. And there is more than one O'Reilly to go around. Gotta be vigilant.

I believe that I have finally identified the fundamental motivation behind the drive of our "elites" for global homogeneity: they are too proud to remain where they were spawned, yet too bloody stupid to keep track of more than one set of laws, customs, and mores.

All of their blather about "multiculturalism" is a trying to convince themselves. [autistic rocking] "Difference is beautiful, Jordan." "Diversity is our strength, Jordan." "Even weak, repulsive natives deserve to live, Jordan."

Funny part is they want to make this world order look so democratic and "American" but in practice it still amounts to "You have been outvoted, so grab your ankles".
I remember how this crap used to work, and did probably from Woodrow Wilson's day. But it rings hollow now, looking at states like New York and California.

Blogger Pseudotsuga October 20, 2018 11:45 PM

International law? She's crying for the international policemen to arrest the Chinese government, try them in an international court, and put them into an international prison somewhere for their crimes?
Yeah...right...she clearly does not want to believe that many countries only follow international law when it suits them, and they demand other countries (i.e. the West) follow international law when it benefits them and hurts us.
International law is more like convenient guidelines to club or cripple the West with.

Blogger Solon October 21, 2018 7:49 AM

At this point, if you think what our (((elites))) are doing is anything other than a directed, intentional, malicious effort to effect genocide on Christians and white people in particular...

Then you either haven't been paying attention, or you're an idiot, or you're in league with the malevolent. Possibly all three, they aren't mutually exclusive.

Blogger Solon October 21, 2018 7:58 AM

The Geneva Conventions are a great idea. Too bad that no one cares about them when the bullets start flying and the mustard gas clouds descend.

"International Laws," she cries about. Yeah, I still don't care about China putting Muslims in internment camps. I'm not going to go over there and die for some Muslims being "oppressed," I wouldn't send my son over there if I had one, and I wouldn't ask any of my neighbors to send their sons to die either.

What China does to her own citizens is Not. Our. Problem. If she wants to move back to China and fight those oppressors, she's free to do so, but I'll be damned if she wants to try and make me do it.

Blogger basementhomebrewer October 21, 2018 8:36 AM

This is the insanity that has been creeping into our system for decades. We had federal judges, decades ago, citing "international law" and laws of other nations in their decisions. These people want to be able to use any law from any country to back their current opinion. If you asked this woman if there were any Chinese laws that she wants the US to follow you would probably get an emphatic yes.

Blogger Francis Parker Yockey October 21, 2018 11:22 AM

From "our" leaders' standpoint, one of the advantages of diversity/ importing "refugees" is that it allows ZOG to maintain a ready reserve of malcontents from other countries, to deploy as needed. Permanent revolution -- whoops, I mean "regime change" is easier when you have a core of potential revolutionaries ready to go.

If course, sometimes this results in minor collateral damage -- the Manchester bomber and his family were part of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, which was an important element of the brave freedom fighters who overthrew the evil tyrant Qaddafi, and helped to transform the country into the shining example of liberal democracy, feminism, homosexual rights, and muh freedoms that is the Libya of today. (The bomber's father was granted asylum in the UK back in the 90s.)

Or look at the CIA connections of the Boston bombers' family.
