No party for neocons

This fake Republican fake conservative is a perfect example of the anti-American US citizen for whom there is no longer any place in modern American politics:
Trump’s claim that he is going to “Make America Great Again” — after it has been betrayed by disloyal elites — is simply an echo, as it were, of Phyllis Schlafly’s conspiratorial rants.

The history of the modern Republican Party is the story of moderates being driven out and conservatives taking over — and then of those conservatives in turn being ousted by those even further to the right. A telling moment came in 1996, when the Republican presidential nominee, Bob Dole, visited an aged Barry Goldwater. Once upon a time, Dole and Goldwater had defined the Republican right, but by 1996, Dole joked, “Barry and I — we’ve sort of become the liberals.” “We’re the new liberals of the Republican Party,” Goldwater agreed. “Can you imagine that?”

The ascendance of extreme views, abetted in recent years by Fox News, Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin and the tea party movement, increasingly made the House Republican caucus ungovernable. The far-right Freedom Caucus drove House Speaker John A. Boehner into retirement in 2015. His successor, Paul D. Ryan, lasted only three years. Ryan’s retirement signals the final repudiation of an optimistic, inclusive brand of Reaganesque conservatism focused on enhancing economic opportunity at home and promoting democracy and free trade abroad. The Republican Party will now be defined by Trump’s dark, divisive vision, with his depiction of Democrats as America-hating, criminal-coddling traitors, his vilification of the press as the “enemy of the people,” and his ugly invective against Mexicans and Muslims. The extremism that many Republicans of goodwill had been trying to push to the fringe of their party is now its governing ideology.

That’s why I can no longer be a Republican, and in fact wish ill fortune on my former party. I am now convinced that the Republican Party must suffer repeated and devastating defeats beginning in November. It must pay a heavy price for its embrace of white nationalism and know-nothingism. Only if the GOP as it is currently constituted is burned to the ground will there be any chance to build a reasonable center-right party out of the ashes. But that will require undoing the work of decades, not just of the past two years.
In fact, an active embrace of white identity politics and so-called "know-nothingism" can solidify Republican political power and possibly even save America. But Max Boot knows that, because he wants to defeat the Republicans and destroy America. That's why there is no longer any place for him in either the pro-America Republican Party or the anti-Israel Democratic Party. And that is why he and all the other NeverTrump neocons have to go back.

Max Boot@MaxBoot
I too will crawl over broken glass. To vote for Democrats who will act as a check on Trump’s unrestrained and unprecedented abuse of power.

Why on Earth would Israel want a failed political consultant who promoted a fake Palestinian state and the anti-Israel Democratic Party?

Besides, at best such people should be traded in a spy swap, at the steep exchange rates that Israel is clearly willing to pay. Otherwise, they can face the various punishments that homegrown disloyal elites will be suffering.

Realpolitik is a competing force to liberalism in international relations. Trump is all about realpolitik, and it has NOTHING to do with isolationism. Barry Goldwater also was against liberalism in the above sense. Damn, Boot is such a liar, I am surprised how egregious it is!

All globalists are traitors. This is not a hard concept. Just because you think American elites should be in charge instead of European technocrats doesn't make you less of a traitor.

Promoting democracy abroad simply boils down to war without end or purpose. Also a traitorist concept. Its refreshing to see so many masks coming off

When I was much younger I would proudly only vote 3rd party (didn't matter who) because I considered both the Ds and Rs corrupt servants of the same entrenched interests of the mega powerful and rich, without any "dimes worth of difference" between them.

Then I became a card carrying Libertarian for a while. This blog was one of many factors helping me recover from that cluster.

Trump has changed that for me. He is different, he is better, and he has an R next to his name.

For the first time I'm considering voting straight R all the way down the ballot as my reactionary vote in solidarity with the Trump Presidency.

Don't particularly like Mr. Cruz, but Beto? WTF? Texas ain't turnin' blue from my votes.

Remember, Little Max the Russian Jew who immigrated to the US said the worst thing about the initial invasion of Afghanistan was that not enough Americans were being killed.

"This is not a war being won with American blood and guts. It is being won with the blood and guts of the Northern Alliance, helped by copious quantities of American ordnance and a handful of American advisers. After Sept. 11, President Bush promised that this would not be another bloodless, push-button war, but that is precisely what it has been."

Because they are painfully stupid. The personal smears of 2016 failed, and President Trump has started what most Americans would regard as a golden age. Declaring that Trump doesn't care for American workers was merely insufficient when he was just a billionaire: as a President who EASILY secured a trade deal that Democrat assured us was impossible, it is now ludicrous.

The smart thing for the Democrats would be to immediately implement radically pro-American policies while taking advantage of their cultural dominance. At least they would have a chance of dethroning Trump. Instead they will create more Dr. Christine Frauds, and expend what is left of their illegal arsenal. For instance, I know the President will take a hatchet to the IRS in retaliation for their leaks about his father, which the Dems know are grossly illegal. Some people could even be simply tossed into Guantanamo. They haven't left him any other option.

Forget a Trumpslide, at this point the guy might declare himself King. Voluntary monarchy!

ALI ALEXANDER: I have heard from a dozen Democrats voting Republican. #Kavanaugh was a turning point. Only time I’ve seen this was during Obamacare. Public used the internet to see what Media wouldn’t show them; legislative trickery, lies, and smears.

Ali is a credible, well-connected guy. One of the founders of the Tea Party. Before the Kavanaugh episode, he was predicting that the GOP would keep or lose the House by <10 seats. If it was close before, I suspect this means Trump's chances of keeping the House are now pretty decent.

Cernovich has also walked back the blue wave prediction. He is saying that even a lot of people who hate Trump are PISSED about the attempted lynching of Kavanaugh and are planning to vote in the midterms now.

Polls showing that GOP likely to win Senate seats in ND, MO, FL, and possibly others too. If the Kavanaugh bump is big enoush, could be a Red Wave in the Senate. As for the House...

If Trump keeps the Senate and the House, I'm hearing he will Build The Wall by hook or crook and Drain the Swamp in the Justice Department with mass firings. That, plus the booming economy, an infrastructure bill, tax cuts 2.0, prison reform, and a denuclearized North Korea will give us a Trumpslide in 2020.

After humiliating defeats in 2016, 2018, and 2020, the Democrat party will be forced to reform to stay competitive.

Oh boy, the Phyllis Schlafly. How does one even respond to that? I can't read these things without at least three levels of decoding. Not because his thought I'd complex, but because it's confused.

I am left wondering, as I always do, whether these people are liars or stupid. But that may be irrelevant. The obvious point is that his main concern is not opposing the left but limiting the influence of the right. For such stalwart figures as John Boner, Paul Ryan, and poor old Dole. Which means he's just a leftist.

The neocons tried their play of taking over the Respectable Right after the New Left and Consensus Liberalism got away from them. They have failed. The weirdo kooky konspiracy right was never beaten, no matter how many McCarthies were purged.

I might add they relied on these people to win in the meantime, all the while keeping their true politics secret.

This is fine if they vote for us, but we really shouldn't be surprised by their loser status when they joined Republicans rather than keep out the increasing extremism in their own party.

Now we are at it again, absorbing disgruntled Democrats as voters - which I am fine with! But they need to recognize the R isn't their party and they need to fix theirs, not ours.

I'm hoping this time, the shift to the right is so extreme that the Left party can't recover and they implode. Then two new parties emerge from the broken coalition of the Republican party.

Pendulums move slowly at the start of their swing, and pick up speed until the midway point, which is still far from here. That being said, the left has long been the party of the young urbanites. When that ceases to be (either the leftward trend or the young urbanites themselves) the swing will be at least partway up to speed.

I don't understand why so many people need to lie about Trump in criticizing him.

So many Trump-haters absolutely refuse to learn anything about the man, even though "know thine enemy" is rule #1. It's like they're so repulsed by him that they can't soil themselves by reading a few chapters of his book or watching his show, which would give them a much clearer picture to work from.

The funny thing about these neocon NeverTrumpers is that two years ago they said he was unacceptably liberal. They insisted he would betray us on the Supreme Court and appoint people just as bad as Hillary would, for instance. Remember that, as their excuse for not following their own pro-life litmus test for the first time? Now they've swung all the way to the other side, parroting the left's mantra of "far-right sexist racist fascist blah blah blah". But if you wanted to hear that, you could already get it from the left, including any talking head on TV. They offer nothing new.

Now Bill Kristol is acting like an ex-girlfriend having second thoughts, trying to get America's attention with his alt-Republican spoiler party, coming soon from a secret cornfield somewhere in Iowa. Who actually wants that? Except for the lulz, I guess.

Blogger Scire October 09, 2018 12:12 PM

Both political parties have identity issues. The democrats no longer support working america, but still demand their support, instead they are trying to become the minority grievance/socialist party, and that is causing their internal issues, See Bernie's fixed run. But that isn't in the spotlight because they are the "opposition" right now. nothing unites like a common enemy.

The republican split started with the tea party. The republicans stopped promoting small government. It looks like it was a concession of Reagan that got platformed by the time bush was around and has been a staple of the republicans until Trump.

If it wasn't for the fight over the resources of either party, i think we'd see both split, but the federal matching funds and the inertia of the 2 party system keeps everyone fighting like families that love to abuse one another.

An interesting trend that looks to be a result of this is that a steadily increasing percentage of Americans have been voting third party since 2000.( perot wrecks the 90's) 1% in 2004, 1.4% in 2008, 1.7% in 2012, and 5.6% in 2016.

Indeed. In fact he's been somewhat maddeningly restrained. Many of us have wished he'd go full Andrew Jackson on the courts, etc.

Ultimately he's probably been wise in his approach. Slowly building his credibility with the people, and gaining their trust. All while triggering the left into showing their true colors.

When the left starts ignoring SCOTUS rulings (in addition to federal laws and executive action; over and above sanctuary cities) and goes full rebellion, then maybe Trump will fulfill their expectations. But he will have the people on his side.

His new book The Corrosion of Conservatism: Why I Left the Right, was just released. If it's anything like his Twitter feed and his recent articles, it's going to be painful.

He's recently unbosomed his belated discovery of his "white privilege," which he apologizes for being slow to recognize.

These days he's basking in Establishment approval of his recent turn.

It's been going like this:

Media: Why, Max Boot has grown!

Boot: Indeed I have, thanks to your wonderful journalism. But I still have so much to learn!

If you thought the media would hold his warmongering against him, you do not understand the dynamics of American political culture.

On Twitter, someone wrote: "Better late than never. That said, some of your fellow citizens come with three centuries of experience in American racism, and how it is used. It’s a good time to listen to them."

Max's reply: "Absolutely. I’m in learning mode. Very conscious of the fact that what is new to me has been obvious to others for a long time."

Sad to see a grown man debase himself like this. Many such cases!

There are still some of us left who would die a thousand deaths before waving incense before the political and media establishments.

The cuckery of the Reagan-era party, and especially GW Bush, was over 9000, and pretty soon they were practically running the place. All they had to do was be marginally less crazy than the Dems and profess to support policies they were undermining behind the scenes.
Trump, by his mere existence, his pure Americanness, triggers them to reveal themselves. He comes with a sword, not to make war, but to divide.

You notice the phrase they neocons never use "White identity politics." See they are not against identity politics because they are of identity politics and they are used to guard the right flank of the left.

If the phrase "White Identity Politics" were to break thru the censors then it might discredit and delegitimize the establishment and their two faced phoniness.

I'll add that the GOP has always been divided between a Patrician Plutocrat faction, and a Populist Conservative/Libertarian faction. This goes back to the 1850s. The Plutocrats usually have control, largely because the Populists don't pay attention in the off years and give up when they don't win everything in one election.

But it's the Populists who win big.

And in the last few election cycles, the Populists have won in 2010, 2014, and 2016. They are approaching critical mass, the point at which they can displace the Plutocrats and take over for the long term. And the Plutocrats do NOT like that thought.

I was in the Senate gallery this afternoon when Justice Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed. You would have thought I was at an exorcism in an insane asylum.

Perhaps you were watching on television and heard the disruptions, though you certainly didn’t see them. The attenuated audio probably didn’t catch the frightening, incoherent shrieking – including the lingering screaming and howling as they were being dragged down the hallways outside the gallery…

…I have visited hospitals for the seriously mentally ill, and the shrieks from this woman were as odd and unearthly as anything I ever heard inside a mental hospital. They echoed off the halls and ceilings outside the gallery in decreasing but astonishing amplitude.

Then the roll was called, and it sounded like the gates of hell opened up.

Nearly a dozen women erupted in unison, shouting, howling, screaming, in an unrecognizable venomous wail. They wouldn’t stop. There was fury, rage, hate, poison in the noise.
