Pure Pocahauntas

The response by the Cherokee Nation is both apt and incredibly amusing. I cannot believe she thought this was going to restore her viability as a presidential candidate.

"Senator Warren is undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage."

The concept is really not that hard and underlines my case against pan-racial nationalism. DNA says nothing about one's tribal heritage, because tribe is a subset of nation, which is itself a subset of race. Pan-racial tribalism is even less viable than pan-racial nationalism.

When you must deny reality, when you sever ties with it and remove that feedback loop, the result has to be isolation and delusion in the end.

DNA testing is not science magic. A lot of the time it can't really tell you who your ancestors.

One of the biggest problems with identifying Native American DNA is that the tribes are very resistant to being cataloged.

Consequently it's not all that easy to tell the difference between Native American and Lithuanian Tater.

Charles Bronson was Lithuanian Tater, there is a reason he spent half his career playing Indians.

Frankly he had more business playing a Native American than Elizabeth Warren does.

” ‘Thirty-six years ago this happened. I had one beer.’ ‘Right?’ ‘I had one beer.’ ‘Well, you think it was (one beer)?’ ‘Nope, it was one beer.’ ‘Oh, good. How did you get home?’”
‘I don’t remember.’ ‘How did you get there?’ ‘I don’t remember.’ ‘Where is the place?’ ‘I don’t remember.’ ‘How many years ago was it?’ ‘I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know.’”

By now the Mississippi MAGA crowd was cheering and laughing.

Trump went on: “‘What neighborhood was it in?’ ‘I don’t know.’ ‘Where’s the house?’ ‘I don’t know.’ ‘Upstairs, downstairs, where was it?’ ‘I don’t know. But I had one beer. That’s the only thing I remember.’”

Blogger Amy October 16, 2018 10:14 AM

My siblings and I all did the Ancestry test. We have family bibles going back to the 19th century, and one intrepid uncle traced our father’s family line back to Europe.

Looking at our results, though, you’d never know we were related. Sister is 55% Scandinavian, brother is mostly Scandinavian and German, I’m less so on both and high eastern euro. Hmm.

Best thing these tests can do is analyze clusters and make general declarations. Of course three people descended from Germanic/Slavic stock, with a bit of Scot and Viking thrown in for fun, would have such a profile. My sister was a bit dumbfounded at the disparity, until she read about how they determined the results.

Husband's Dad is from Mayflower stock, with the documents to prove it. FIL also says he’s part Cherokee, and I can neither confirm nor deny. I just don’t know. My grandmother always said she was, too. Lots of Cherokee and other native tribes worked in the cities where her grandparents first set foot here, before going back to Poland, then returning to America. Supposedly my great great great grandmother had a mixed child out of wedlock, was sent back to Poland...so maybe I have some NA too! 9% of my DNA was “other” but I don’t think the story is true. I’m euro and cool with it.

There was a frenzy for a long time to claim native ancestry, some romantic vision of NAs as more pure Edenic types with which we’d lost touch. Then came the casinos LOL. It’s always about chasing some prestige.

@18 Scenario 1:

Trump to Warren 'you're not really an Indian, take the test Pocahontas.' Yes, this is hanging over her but she can just claim to be an Indian, the right sides with Trump the left sides with Warren either because they believe her or don't care. Some swing voters might suspect she's lying or whatever but can't prove it.

Scenario 2:

'Pocahontas isn't even a real Indian, she took the test and said she's 1/100000000th Indian. Even the Cherokee Nation came out and said she did a bad thing, they said she was doing damage to their tribe and told her to stop.

She stole affirmative action benefits from the Indians. She's a total fraud and has been all her life. She's not even as Indian as the average American, I'm more Indian than her and I'm not an Indian.'

He will hammer it home, Pocahontas is her name now and it will forever remind everyone that her defining feature is a lie, her identity is a lie, she can't be trusted, even her cookbook entry was a lie (she copied it word for word and certain ingredients didn't exist 6-10 generations ago).

Her branded Cruz and Clinton as liars, Warren has just proved she was lying. Doubt hanging over her by not revealing her DNA test vs confirmation.

Take familial claims of native heritage (why is it usually Cherokee?) with a grain of salt. I remember as a kid hearing my paternal grandmother and her mother talk about the family having Cherokee heritage from some mysterious unknown source. When my mother began doing my dad's genealogy she discovered that some great^x grandfather married a girl whose surname was Savage.

We were descended from Savages. Through the wonders of time and Appalachia that became: we're Cherokee.

And yet I'm still more AmerIndian than Fauxcahontas.

Warren showed the ends of absurdity-- but she went from a sucky law school (not one of the T12, not even on of the top 30) so basically not eligible for any job teaching at any top school to the top based on" muh cheeckbones". After living high off of the ivy gig, and making hay out of easily dismissed studies-nonsense (majority of bankruptcies are due to bad insurance), she has a gig as senator. Relating to the post after this: is it a Boomer thing, this desperate desire to be identified with the "oppressed" at some fundamental level, a sort of precursor to the angst over one's "white privilege"?

For Warren there are professional incentives, but there are people I know who get nothing financially out of such claims, but are quite vehement in their assertions of being "1/64th Cherokee".

It also seems to be a very American thing. I don't really know about Canada, but throughout Latin America, the descendents of the natives are thoroughly despised (though the "glories" of their ancestors are often appropriated for nationalistic propaganda and tourism).

That may all be nonsense or more than a century out of date, but that's what we get from storybooks growing up. So Americans claiming a bit of Indian blood aren't trying to identify with an oppressed class. Pretty much the opposite. That is why those kids thought they could boost someone from 0% to 2% "black" heritage if they thought they were a white racist. It is in the fine print; less than 2% is just noise and can be ignored.

Now, you really know they are messing with you when they start putitng the number 88 in your DNA results. Noone has 88% heritage. If Vox needs screen caps or other proof that this is happening, I can provide.

Given this type of tampering, how can we trust the DNA results that conveniently uphold the zionist narrative? You know, the ones that say that all Jews in the world are more closely related to each other, Ashkenazi, Sephardi, Mizrahi, than to any other population on earth? Could be true. Be nice if it was true. But one lie leads to another. Why trust the DNA companies on this, when they are dishonest on other things?

Elizabeth Warren's DNA results are less than the 2% that is considered "statistical noise", even at the MOST GENEROUS interpretation of having Indian blood 6 generations back. (1.5%, which is less than 2%)

I think it was that 1960's song that Cher was always singing. It emphasized the nobel aspects of the Cherokee and repetition embedded it like a splinter under the cultural mind's surface.

{aside: Not to say the Cherokee weren't unusual, being a leader in the tribal congress during the (apprx) 1750's-1860's, developing a script and written language, etc.}

It does make me feel somewhat “odd-man-our”, what with my Comanche ancestry an'all!

also, it turns out that Becky Warren is more racially pure Aryan than Uncle Adolph.

Yeah, Ogre, and he seems to be working on growing a fourth....

What will really be nice is *if* he goes and gets them brass-plated!

Makes a person wonder what juan had on him, and parenthetically, I hope whatever it was stays buried!

Most of the ones in my family are evangelicals. Pentecostals, mostly.

Similar in Canada, which isn't surprising, considering that both Pentecostalism and most native tribes are primarily oral-aural cultures.

It also seems to be a very American thing. I don't really know about Canada

Similar up here.

OT, another Democratic candidate is getting some heat:

As I recall, this blog advocates making the left live by their own rules.
Hugin is doing just that with Bob Menendez.

Prediction: By this time next year, Rabbit Warren will be the fiercest anti-Native Congresscritter.

Givens:
* She is driven by solipsism and pride.
* It is normal for American families to have mythologized their background to include Native American heritage.
* She has less Native genetic material than the average white American.

Reasoning:
The only way for her to salvage her Presidential ambitions is to face facts, but she is incapable of humility. So she will instead pull a 180 and become indignant that anyone on our Magic Dirt should have ever felt like less than a #RealAmerican without claiming a blood link to the land.

Wouldn't it be funny if Goofy Warren one day announces that she just found out she has Jewish roots, like Crooked Hillary and Lyin' Ryan did?

Would she be disbelieved? Or would it put her in contention for 2020? Some tribes are more equal than others.

Crooked from Arkansas was elected a U.S. Senator from New York after identifying with the *right* tribe.
