Exercise your rights

I tend to doubt even Antifa are dumb enough to try this sort of home invasion in any Castle Doctrine jurisdiction:
A group of protesters congregated outside what they claimed was Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s home in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday night to chant threatening messages.

Smash Racism D.C., a self-described “anti-fascist” group, posted a video of their members screaming obscenities at Carlson’s house and blaming his “policies” for the deaths of thousands of people.

“Tucker Carlson, we will fight!” the protesters chanted. “We know where you sleep at night!”

In the first video posted to Twitter, one protester can be seen ringing Carlson’s doorbell before running away.

“Racist scumbag, leave town!”

Every night you spread fear into our homes—fear of the other, fear of us, and fear of them. Each night you tell us we are not safe. Tonight you’re reminded that we have a voice. Tonight, we remind you that you are not safe either.
#KnockKnockTucker

Someone affiliated with DC Antifa told The Gateway Pundit that the protest at Carlson’s home was “just the beginning.”
If they start it, we'll end it. In the very unlikely event you haven't already, it's time to gun up. The expected civil unpleasantries have already begun. And while Tucker Carlson's wife might not put three rounds of .357 in a home invader's chest "because she feared for her life and the lives of her children" you can be damned sure that mine would not hesitate to do so.

Assuming, of course, that the Ridgebacks didn't eat them first.

I highly recommend anyone right of center in the public eye to have at least two large security dogs. Then, if Antifa is dumb enough to set foot on your property, just open the door. Trust me, about the only thing more intimidating than a well-muscled adult Rhodesian Ridgeback unleashing its big bass "I WILL DEVOUR YOUR SOUL" bark from Hell at you is two of them doing it at the same time.

I've seen a grown man dive into the hatchback of his cars and slam it shut on himself rather than face a Ridgeback, and she was just wagging her tail and giving her friendly "HEY! HEY! HEY! NEW FRIEND! DO YOU WANT TO PLAY?" bark.

Two dogs are exponentially more effective and dangerous than one. I've seen pack behavior in action with my farm dogs. One dog, you may have a chance to fight off. Two or more and you're just screwed if they get their jaws on you.

Blogger ar10308 November 08, 2018 11:38 AM

I once rented a room from a friend who owned a Ridgeback. Problem was that he kept her crated and between his job as a police officer and very active social life, the dog didn't get out as much as it needed to. I felt bad for the dog.
They're very high energy and will go insane if not given the time and space to burn off some of their nearly inexhaustible supply of energy.

It's also a good idea to reinforce your doors and windows. A typical unimproved residential door is amazingly easy to kick in even with a deadbolt engaged. A determined intruder will simply blast a hole through a wall, but hardening doors and windows will provide several critical seconds' warning against home invaders if not cause them to flee in panic once they realize they're attacking a hardened target.

The leader of the Antifa mob laying siege to Carlson's home was none other than (((Michael Isaacson))), the giraffe-neck nancy who was on Carlson's show about a year ago, and who gained infamy as a professor of criminal justice at John Jay College for saying its a privilege to "teach future dead cops."

And, when you buy that gun...don't do what 90% of gun owners do: put it in your drawer, thinking that owning a gun is enough.

You have to TRAIN with it.

And TRAIN repeatedly...

Find a good course nearby that will teach you the mindset and skills needed to effectively use the handgun when you need to.

If you live in Ohio, sign up for the Handgun I-III course at Tactical Defense Institute. Best training you can receive. These guys are military and SWAT pros, and are excellent teachers. They will greatly improve your skills. You will start Day 1 with basic skills and work from there. Day 2 you will be engaging targets on the move and multiple targets. By Day 3 you will be clearing rooms in a shoot house, SWAT style, with live ammo! It's intense, but rewarding.

If you are in Ohio, and own a hand gun, you need to run, not walk, to Alliance and take a class with Sentinel Concepts.

Heck, if you live elsewhere, you still need to do it. I drove all the way there once for a 4 day shoot house class, and I would do classes there 2-3 times a year if I could afford it.

Maybe, although I'm pretty sure I would have heard about that if it had happened. It was still telling them to do something illegal, that's what Heller was all about. Gun registration closed long before, for anyone grandfathered guns had to be kept disassembled when stored, and you could not even load them until the invader was in the room you were in. But D.C. juries didn't have much if any respect for these laws.

Spend hours drawing the empty pistol from your holster, swiftly aiming and dry firing at the TV, then reholstering. Spend hours shouldering, aiming and dry firing your long guns, too.

It all builds muscle memory. Slow turns into smooth and smooth turns into fast, with enough practice.

Used to have two Boxers that were as friendly and fun as could be, unless some wild critter was in our yard. Possums, raccoons, rats, feral cats (wouldn't mess with domestic neighbors cats, somehow they knew), whatever, soon there would be bloody critter parts scattered all over the place. On a somewhat tangential note, Neon Revolt thinks the GE may be holding off on declassifying the FISA docs so that he can take down lots of Democrat House members after January.

Because once FISA “brings down the house” those Reps will be booted from their seats, and guess who gets to appoint new reps…

The Governors.

Would the optimal strategy be for the Cabal to take their own people out before January so friendly governors can replace them with friendlies?

Have to point out too how little release the left got after the middling 'victory' in the elections. After waiting two long years to eek out a win of any sort, they can't even enjoy it because within hours:

- Trump sends the left into hysteria by having Sessions resign, causing mass triggerings over their long awaited dream of a Mueller probe that would somehow remove Trump from office is now being snatched away.

- This Antifa mob stealing headlines and making the left look even worse. How many were hoping that giving the Dems the House would offer some tension release (Scott Adams?), but then they go and immediately do something this deranged?

- Jim Acosta makes himself look like an idiot and gets rightfully slapped down by Trump, prompting CNN to call for a press boycott of the White House, which would be a ratings seppuku for them.

Even when we lose, we win.

Yes it is theoretically possible to legally own a handgun in DC but practically impossible. You have to demonstrate a need for one to the satisfaction of officials. Basically, if you are carrying money for them or their friends you're good, otherwise you basis will be found insufficient to exercise your constitutional rights. You will have to pay through the nose for armed security services who have paid off these jerks. Security is not a feature of life in DC for the poor or middling tiered, as per design.

Can't speak how this technique works on trained security dogs, but in my rough and ready youth I was bitten numerous times by dogs until I figured this out. Dog goes to bite me, I form my hand into a spear, then shove it down his throat as far as I can, and grab. That takes the fight out of every dog I ever used it on.

Also, never, ever, ever run from a dog. Their natural instinct is to chase prey. Guaranteed you will be bit if you run. I had a grown German Shepard barking inches from me, dog saliva spattering me. It took all my will to not cut and run. Every move I made caused the dog to go into a frenzy, but I inched my way out of the yard I was in safely. Again, not a trained attack dog.

Haha! Indeed. I remember when BLM was at its apex they organized a march here through central PHX, which happened to be about a half-mile from my workplace at the time. This event was on the heels of the Dallas shooting (I believe) and after they had rioted in a few major cities. I was very happy to find out that I was not the only person who brought my guns to work that day in case something went south. Even a few of my leftist hippie employees managed to bring their dad’s handgun. The irony made me smile.

To BLM’s credit, they seemed to know their territory. It was very low turnout and no rioting even though they chose to march through a white-collar part of town.

There’s a reason that the coasts are about the only place that see ANTIFA regularly and it’s not just because there is a higher concentration of crazies there.

And you’re right, the cops here would not tolerate vegans harassing people. I’ve witnessed a few different potential rowdy scenes get “de-escalated” very quickly. A person can think he’s tough until 5 horseback mounted cops are charging at him.

I preferred a large male mastiff for protecting my family while I was deployed. A 200+ pound mastiff will stand on two legs and walk growling to defend its female owner-- when newly married and one of my first deployments, wife and baby had bullets go through glass in house (fired a few blocks away- before Reagan military didn't make much). Male mastiff met anyone at door first on two legs. At least until young wife calmed down. BTW, he chewed and destroyed cinder blocks for chew toys. As for me, when in hostile situation, he stayed on all fours, immediately to my side, growling in support-- I was supposed to take lead I guess when confronted for mugging while on evening walk. As soon as I could I took a too big mortgage and changed neighborhoods. At least by then I had the first of the big catch up pay raises to help.

Tried commenting and forgot I was doing it through another browser, sorry. Other breed choices could be livestock guardian dogs, such as Great Pyrenees, Anatolian Shepherd, Maremma and Kuvasz. None of them are trendy or popular enough for the puppy mills to have muddied their genetic waters, and they are bred to work on their own and be able to evaluate a situation independently if you are not present. They also bond well to your family. Two or three of these babies can put off all but the most determined of intruders.

Catahoulas and other "cur" breeds can work too. I still love GSD's, but be very careful of their background and bloodlines.

"The first step is to not live in D.C. where it's almost impossible to legally own a gun."

Heller vs District of Columbia directly overturned that.

Not only did it hold the "your pistol must be either disassembled or have a trigger lock while not on your person" law, it also shredded much of D.C's bureaucratic hurdles, demands for pre-approval by government employees, and groundless prohibitions to lawful long-arm and pistol ownership.

But yes, Carlson never should have moved into D.C. in the first place. AT the very least he should have searched for a home only in Virginia.

Don't't dismiss the mutts. When I went looking for a dog I was looking for a ridgeback or a ridgeback vizala mix. Found her at the kennel. Best dog ever. Beautiful, perfect mix of sight, smell and hearing I've ever seen. She could sense danger a mile away. She'd defend my house or me and when she'd go postal look out. Only 50lbs but nothing but solid muscle. Loved kids, loved people, so smart, so soft. People have told me over the years dogs are just a reflection of their owners. I think that's probably mostly true. Next dog will probably be a ridgeback thanks to Vox's and Spacebunnies stories. Not enough space for two as I live on a boat. Ah well...

Dogs have always been the best guarantee of domestic tranquility, even the ones that are difficult to control in stressful situations. Both the military and police find them essential, especially in low-light situations. For many gun-shy people, dogs are the perfect substitute and the regulatory environment is more favorable. Guns are not the best solution for everyone and it takes quite a bit to become proficient. Dogs are naturally protective and territorial.

My Texas female housemate was 9 years in the Army and later a corrections officer in Texas and Arkansas, so the only intruders would be complete strangers. She is not as good a shot as myself, but she is more willing to shoot. I do not fear the uninformed, so I am more likely to let them get completely away, as long as they do not come back.

"Pit Bulls and Rottweilers could work too...."

I like the ridgebacks better for this situation.

If a pit bull maims somebody, you're probably going to bet your ass sued off, because they were specifically bred for dogfighting, and every year there are several incidents of one or more loose pit-bulls maiming pedestrians in their neighborhood without any provocation.

As for rottweilers. I've had 2. At the time, I live 6 or so down and across the street from the nearest grocery store, and when I shopped there, I would take the dog with me, and secure her leash to something nearby.
Both of those dogs (I got the 2nd after died from bone cancer in her jaw) were as friendly as can be, ALWAYS on the lookout for a new friend to play with them, and if they saw someone, would give there, "Please, come here and play withe me!" bark whenever they saw anyone get out of their car in the parking lot. Scared more than once customer. "There's a mean dog barking outside!"

I would always yell in reply towards the front, "She just wants you to play with her!"

Oh, and EVERY rottweiler I've ever come into contact with is an overgrown puppy. They do NOT stand in front of the window all day barking at every person who walks down the sidewalk. They prefer to lay on the couch (or, to their preference, in your lap) with an "uh... I'll get up and bark when there's someone outside trying to break in."
Both of them would lose their calm serenity and go absolutely bonkers whenever I was using a ladder leaned against the house to clean out the gutters or trim branches which were getting long enough to damage the shingles on the roof, once they heard the latter making contact with the house and being adjusted into final position before I climbed up it. And this would continue as long as whatever I was doing created sounds inside the house.

But rottweilers' reputation for ferociousness is misapplied. They were bred to be cow dogs. A ferocious cow dog is as bad as having a wolf among your herd. Like all cow dogs, rottweilers are calm, and prefer to communicate by bumping into you. They rarely bark. They're not retrievers... so they'll play fetch ONCE -- if you try to continue the game, they'll look at you with eyes that say, "Have you completely lost your mind?!?!? I JUST BROUGHT THAT THING TO YOU!!!" Their favorite game is to slowly, inch themselves forward, from laying next to you, to laying in your lap. If you try to push them away, rather than stiffening up like most dogs will, they go completely limp, which then turns it into an exercise rather like trying to move a dog-shaped sandbag away from you by rolling it -- as soon as you remove the force, it rolls right back into the position it was in before. Nevertheless, they are adorable beasts.

Blogger Silent Draco November 08, 2018 4:50 PM

Ridgebacks sound like they have binary settings: Friend or Chew Toy. However, even on Friend setting, that's a large and strong dog that wants to play. Every dog over about 70 lbs has a "Body Slam of Joy" greeting for new friends, which means bruises at the least.

Blogger Dirk Manly November 08, 2018 4:51 PM

Oh... a rottweiler's favorite outdoor game will involve you tackling it and bringing it to ground, like a wrestling match.

A friend of mine had this HUGE rottweiler.... close to 200 lb/90 kg (rottweilers in the U.S. typically run around 100 lb/45 kg). I became his best friend by doing two things:

1) Playing very rough with him, involving lots of tackling and rolling him around on the ground.

and

2) One day, I peed on his front paws.

(I noticed that once, annoyed at a beagle who -- like all beagles when they are outside -- liked to bark almost continuously, the rottweiler literally went over and peed on the beagle.)

Blogger William Meisheid November 08, 2018 5:01 PM

We have always had Akitas, primarily brindled males who weigh about 120 lbs. They are extremely intimidating and very protective of their humans. Properly raised from a puppy they are very payful and loving, but still very protective. We have an 80 foot cable out the back that we hook them up to as a run line for a little exercise when we want to leave them outside. It is anchored with heavy spring suspensions that take out most of the shock of sudden movement tangent to the line.

Yes, but it has become established case law that the use of booby-traps (such as trip-wire triggered weapons and munitions) are illegal, and even a command-detonated claymore will have the formerly BATF, now BATFE after you. And remember, that agency actively searches for and recruits former cops who were fired for cause after committing acts so far beyond the pale that even their police unions weren't able to save them.

Outside of the sex-trafficking, the BATFE makes CIA career personnel look like church choir boys.

The first time I met his ridge-back she was on a long chain at the back of the property. I stood waiting, hands in pockets, while he let her off the chain. She ran straight at me and from about ten feet away jumped directly at my face.

"I'm going to die" was all I could think.

I've likewise found Rottweilers to be very friendly dogs. I grew up around them and never had a problem of any kind, but I would still be unwilling to leave them alone with small children. Pit bulls are another story and they're prone to attacking without warning. In one incident a family member was suddenly bitten on the arm by a pit without any indication that the dog was upset, and the dog didn't let go until he landed a solid blow against its skull with a skillet. In another incident a different family member was bitten on the hands and face by two other pits as he was trying to break up a fight between them.

The head crook in Broward County has been identified:

https://twitter.com/maxeden99/status/1060633011807498240

This is a good question, deserving of a short Twitter thread. Basically, Broward's Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes is both incompetent and as crooked as the day is long
[Inclusion: Charles C. W. Cook How can Broward County not know/refuse to say how many votes it has left to count?] 1/7

After progressive Democrat Tim Canova lost in a primary to Debbie Wasserman Schultz, he suspected that there may have been fraud involved so he launched a suit to find out https://t.co/d2zGriRXCB 2/7

As part of this suit, he asked for an injunction against the destruction of the paper ballots and eventual access to them. After stonewalling for many, many months Brenda Snipes admitted - oops - she destroyed the ballots after she was told not to. [Inclusion: Broward elections supervisor illegally destroyed ballots Broward Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes said she authorized the destruction of the ballots by "mistake" in the 2016 race between Congresswoman Debbie... sun-sentinal.com] 3/7

She ended up paying his legal fees for the suit. That's nice. But that wasn't the only time she (almost certainly) intentionally treated the law like her plaything 4/7

Florida Republicans complained that she had opened thousands of ballots in secret, and suspected that she was simply throwing away Republican ballots, so they filed a lawsuit and a judge told her "you may not open early/absentee ballots in secret!" [Judge sides with Florida GOP in absentee ballot dispute with Broward... The board can begin meeting on Monday to handle absentee ballots.] 5/7

Then on primary day, she filed an injunction against the order and opens ballots in secret anyway! https://www.politico.com/states/florida/story/2018/08/28/florida-gop-chairman-accuses-broward-election-chief-of-shenanigans-in-absentee-ballot-court-fight-582745 [Inclusion: Florida GOP chairman accuses Broward election chief of "shenanigans" Broward Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes waited until Election Day to file the appeal politico.com] 6/7

Anyway, this is the woman who now says that she can't tell the public how many more ballots she will end up counting, with both a Senate and a Governor race hanging tightly in the balance. Very reasonable to suspect that she may try to steal both for the Dems. #voterfraud fin.

TL;DR This woman opens up all mailed-in ballots in secret, and then throws out any ballot voting for Republicans. This is why she "doesn't know" how many ballots there are left to count, because she doesn't know how many will be left after she's done removing and destroying which ballots she doesn't want counted.

In every photograph of this woman is the spitting image of the "haughty welfare queen" stereotype.

Getting your "how to protect yourself with a gun" training from guys who operate in a 100% DIFFERENT arena (or, at the very least, without a LOT of additional training, specific to civilian use of a firearm) is a mistake!

Think of it along the lines of the martial arts teacher who teaches his students how to knock a guy down, FOLLOW him down, and deliver a 'death blow.' You are (almost) NEVER 'authorized' in the legal system to continue the fight after you have disabled your opponent. According to Mas Ayooob, you may even lose the justification of 'disparity of force by numbers' if you have knocked down the attacking group of, say, three, to one attacker left: you cannot continue to fight the last guy standing 'as if' he were three attackers.

And, as Andrew Branca says in his excellent book (Law of Self Defense) and also excellent state-specific classes, "You carry a gun so you’re hard to kill. Know the law so you’re hard to convict."

Just knowing how to hit what you aim at is SO not sufficient!

If you are MAGA and live in a blue state or blue city you are living behind enemy lines. Fight back and they will try and crush you. Most people cannot afford the legal costs. That is why, as the civil war heats up, that sane people need to move to a red city in a red state. That helps the state not turn blue through democrats migrating there, provides legal protection for self defense and positions us better for breaking up the country if the will is there to do so in time

Pit bulls are another story and they're prone to attacking without warning

Not all pit bulls are like that, you breedist bigot.

SCIENCE! has proven that most pit crime is due to poverty, oppression, and bad pit schools. Plus stereotype threat from systemic anti-pit prejudice, of course.

Blogger Welsh Woodsman November 08, 2018 10:04 PM

Once owned a Malamute with a bit of wolf mixed in. That dog was amazing. Standing waist high and weighing 125 lbs - no one messed with us. Many an instance of people crapping their pants - when they saw him come running towards them.. Although friendly with people - he would defend if his owner was attacked.
The only time in my life where I ever saw a pit bull attack and then live to regret it. By the time the attack was over my Mally had that thing by the neck and was giving it the death thrash. No living dog or person messed with that dog. Have never replaced him..the void was too big. When I put him down - I cried like a baby. Ten years later I'm finally ready to get a new dog and its looking like it will be a pure black Czech GS. Mighty beautiful dogs. It will fit nicely with the wife's GS.

"If you are MAGA and live in a blue state or blue city you are living behind enemy lines"

A number of "blue states" are not actually that blue. Take New England for example. In NH - if Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital and all of the three state universities were to close - the state would revert back to red in less than 2 years. Looking at Maine - the only area of the state making that state blue is the southern coast. Its densely populated and close to the urban centers like Boston. The rest of the state is predominately red. Aroostock county is actually beyond red . It's like a separate country ...a hybrid of Quebec, Maine and the Eastern Provinces.

My view is that this region is my ancestral home and these leftist assholes are the invaders. Im not leaving and if all of this goes hot well...

For the most part, cities are blue, not-cities are red. Check a county-by-county map of any recent election. In blue Illinois, for instance, out of 102 counties, 91 were red in 2016. Six of the blue counties are Chicago, one contains East St. Louis, one holds the University of Illinois, etc. Many of the red counties are deep red, like my own which went 3-1 for Trump.

There may be some occupations that require you to live in a city. If you don't have one of those, looking at smaller towns (say under 100K) or rural gives you a lot more options.

In the Mideast it's popular to have a chain link fence cage enclosing the front door entry. Very easy to shoot unwelcome visitors through from your recliner.

Fully understand. I am from California. However, most people do not have the financial wherewithal to mount an expensive legal defense. Plus, you may be fired or your company destroyed if you fight antifa in a blue state. This problem will get worse over time.

Right that large cities are almost always blue. However there isn't really a sharp line between city and town. The smaller the better but there are mid size cities that are red. The key for me is that if I move back to the US, I want to live in a place that voted 70 % for Trump. Otherwise it will soon be blue and, in the meantime, I will have to live around those assholes

A shotgun and a small spouse aren't always a good mix but it can still be very effective if defending a space where they can rest the stock against a wall to take most of the recoil.

Reinforcing a front door can be a simple project, pull the inside trim and fit a piece of angle iron under it, notched into the door frame and screwed down to it with hefty screws. Replace the trim and your fix is invisible, handy if renting. Not in the same class as a good door and secure frame and locks but it is something that will stop a kick or shoulder butt from ripping the bolts out of the frame.

Blogger Unknown November 09, 2018 1:04 AM

@163

Replace all hinge and lock plate screws with at least 4" GRK flat head structural screws (GRK screws are a softer metal than regular #8 screws, and won't snap under shear as easy), and then reinforce the door jamb on both sides with even more screws through the jamb and into the stud on either side. Securing the door on the jamb side in more than one place is also highly recommended. Drop bars work for that, but extra deadbolts work as well.

Many older americans who can move to red places stay near blue areas to help with grandchildren. Jobs are often in cities so kids end up near cities in burbs and grandparents help with raising and childcare.

Same here when I had to put my first cat to sleep, worst day of mu life. I too waited exactly 10 years by chance until I got my current 2 cats. Weird eh. Also, I am of Welsh stock, grandfather from the Rhondda.

My mother had a Siberian husky with some recent wolf. He was a little under 100 pounds, and a wonderful beast, especially with children.

Most adult dogs will parent anything which shows obvious signs of being an infant. And female dogs will put in 5x the effort. My family's first dog, half Golden Retriever, half Collie, was absolutely DELIGHTED whenever one of our housecats had a litter of kittens. After a week, she would try to be more attentive towards them than the mother cat. By the 2nd week week, the mother cat would accept Carmel's constant watchfulness as something other than a threat, and about the 3-4 week, when the kittens start driving a mother cat crazy, they were more than happy to let Carmel clean them, herd them, entertain them, and pick them up carry them in her mouth back to the towel-lined cardboard box being used as a kitten home, etc.

She took the same attitude to my brother and I, even after we were much taller than her... and always loved it when we layed down on the floor and used her body as a pillow... to her, my brother and I were the only puppies who never left. This continued all the way up to when we had to put her down when I was 12.

If you want a dog that will really protect you, IT MUST BE TRAINED IN PROTECTION. Otherwise, what you have is a deterrent to the casual opponent but easily ignored by a savvy, determined one. A lot of robbers just bring dog treats and your dogs will treat them like a guest.

To repeat, if you are serious about security (which will be necessary in the coming years) and want to make dogs a part of the mix, you have to buy the right breeds and the right lines within those breeds, train them well, and probably have more than one. Regular dogs are useful to deter normies and alert you of people on the property. They will generally not be useful in a violent situation with real opponents. Also, unless they're trained well, they will do things like eat some tasty poisoned meat they just happened to find on your property. A real security dog won't accept food from anyone except his owner.

And no, this doesn't come cheap, but nothing truly useful ever does.
