Two days left for AH:Q

We are rapidly approaching your last chance to take part in the epic, history-making crowdfunding campaign that is Alt-Hero: Q! The campaign is fully funded, the request for arbitration has been fired off, the opt-out backers' request for arbitration is in the works, as are the waiver backers' individual requests, and the AH:Q team is hard at work on finishing Issue #1 for release in January.

There are just two days left, so if you've been putting it off, do not do so any longer! Note that on a per-issue basis, this has been the most successful Arkhaven campaign by far, despite the various difficulties imposed upon us. While recent developments have not been as flashy as in the past, we have made significant structural steps forward, including the move to a much faster server that helps speed up our production process.

In other Alt-Hero news, the first novel in the Arkhaven universe, Alt-Hero: Covert by Jon Del Arroz, will also be released in January, first to the backers, and then to retail. A selection from the killer cover image, which will be colored by Arklight Studios, is below.

Good news indeed.

Can't wait for the novel.

Did I miss an announcement, or was this a private funding effort by Jon?

If you win in arbitration, will you go back to Indigogo? I know there was an earlier funding drive from the backers, but still, the public funding is down about 90% IIRC.

Good news AND good cover! Can't wait!

Thanks for the reminder. In for $25, just so I can say I was there. Order #2748

Way back at the beginning of the 2.0 campaign, there were some of us who paid via PayPal, and never received an acknowledgement from the campaign that we were backers. PayPal shows the transaction as complete. Did our contributions fall through the cracks somewhere?

This novel and two more in the series; the first and second by Jon and the third by The Legend Chuck Dixon were all perks in the original Alt Hero FreeStartr campaign. I am beginning to become concerned that we've yet to hear anything re Chuck's novel now that he's spending all of his time with Stallone at Balboa Productions.

I called my credit card company (PNC VISA) to get this transaction pre-approved and was on hold for 10 minutes. I told them I was making a European transaction. She asked which country, I said that I believe it is Italy but that it's European. She asked me when I would make it. I said today in the next 15 minutes. She set it up. I asked her if I could make the transaction now. She said yes. I then tried it. The transaction was "not honoured." I waited and tried again. Same message.

It could be an issue with PNC VISA. I will try my another VISA card tomorrow. There was no problem using Indiegogo or Freestartr. So I wonder how many sales Arkhaven Comics lost due to this issue? I'll have to set aside another 10 minutes to sit on hold and set up my CC tomorrow.

For most of us, I'd imagine, the issue isn't money but time (it's hard to get work done with a phone to your ear for 10 minutes waiting).

Ah, I'd forgotten that with all that's happened since. I think I decided I'd just buy the books when they came out. Thanks for aiding my aging memory. :)

PNC? Well, yeah, that would always be my first guess when they're involved.

Blogger VD December 28, 2018 11:48 AM

So I wonder how many sales Arkhaven Comics lost due to this issue?

About 15 percent. Apparently that is normal for a European site.

I expect I'll find out if either Discover or Citibank has problems soon enough. I doubt very much your done with crowdfunding projects. :)

Very excited for this book to come out! It's pretty all-ages friendly too definitely no problem sharing with teenagers and I think they'd really enjoy it.

OK, so if I mouse over the option I want to select on the campaign site, nothing happens. When I move slightly OFF of it, it highlights that option in green and gives me a button to click on. But when I go to push it, it disappears. Using Chrome.

I'm sure that the email that IndieGoGo sent out a couple days ago to Alt-Hero:Q backers, which asks us to fill out a survey on how they can be better, is completely coincidental in its timing.

Blogger James Dixon December 28, 2018 1:17 PM

Using Chrome.

Chrome Version 71.0.3578.98 64-bit on Windows 10 seems to work fine for me. Only the $150 level seems to have any problems, and with it it's that only the left third of the button works.

You didn't unsubscribe from their emails? I never got such an email.

90% down isn't quite accurate.

The earlier secret AH re-fund raised $100K, so adding that to this amount gives $110K in crowdfund, which is slightly more than the original IGG IIRC.

Blogger VD December 28, 2018 1:29 PM

OK, so if I mouse over the option I want to select on the campaign site, nothing happens.

No, that's not a hotlink. Just enter the amount manually. The engine needs a LOT of improvement.

Blogger Michael Maier December 28, 2018 1:40 PM

OK. I almost did that but didn't want to mess anything up. Now I have to decide how much loot with which I want to part.

Blogger Michael Maier December 28, 2018 2:51 PM

OK, is there a shortcut to tell your CC company to get this to work?

Blogger Dirk Manly December 28, 2018 2:56 PM

1) Ask to speak to a supervisor.
2) If the supervisor can't get it done, ask to speak to next level up.
3) When you go up the ladder to the point that you have run out of rungs, you then use this "I've had attractive offers from another company for a year of 0% interest if I transfer my balance to them, for no cost. If you can't resolve this issue, my interest in their offer will certainly increase. And I get bonus bucks if I recruit my friends."

I guess not.

I did send them a sternly-worded complaint when they killed the original campaign. Maybe that's why.

Blogger Seth Schueler December 28, 2018 3:11 PM

I was originally in for a paperback with indiegogo,I just got in for hardback, hopefully Indiegogo pays for my upgrade.

Oh, I did that too. And called them liars. But I still had to opt out of their emails and tell them I wanted no further email from them.

Is it just me? When I read "Trust and Safety Team" or "Wellness Committee", I feel physically ill. The very notion of "Hate Speaking" similarly brings on a slight gag reflex.

Whereas ideas of Civil War make me feel, physically better. Like a deep sigh.

That's odd.

Blogger Meng Greenleaf December 28, 2018 6:55 PM

They can lift restrictions on VISA for a period of time. Also, they can see the attempt at purchase and should be able to help by approving of the purchase. You may need to wait a little longer (trying to purchase to quickly probably locked it again).

Blogger Silly but True December 28, 2018 9:31 PM

Welcome news, congratulations on the success of the plan, and good job on the quality of the AH brand to date.

Blogger Michael Maier December 28, 2018 11:51 PM

They told me they lifted the restriction but that there will probably be a 3% international surcharge. WTFF?

Blogger Dirk Manly December 29, 2018 4:15 AM

@27

"Is it just me? When I read "Trust and Safety Team" or "Wellness Committee", I feel physically ill. The very notion of "Hate Speaking" similarly brings on a slight gag reflex."

Because it has become apparent that they are NOT about Trust nor Safety for good people. Satanic inversion rears its head again.

Blogger Dirk Manly December 29, 2018 4:17 AM

@30

"They told me they lifted the restriction but that there will probably be a 3% international surcharge. WTFF?"

Only 3%?

At a base in Kuwait, my bank at the time charged me 5%. And then there was another $2.50 ATM fee.

I know have a military account with Chase, and I don't pay any fees for anything other than overdrafts. They even print and mail paper checks to me for free.

Blogger Silly but True December 29, 2018 6:51 PM

FFIW, I generally hate speaking by others.
