Divisional playoffs: Saturday

The Chiefs are ROLLING over the Colts. The funny thing is that it wasn't until this weekend that I finally realized why the name Mahomes always sounded vaguely familiar to me. It's because the Chiefs' QB's father played for the Twins for a few years when I was still living in Minnesota. I'm not a baseball fan, but back in the day, when you read the daily newspapers, you picked up the general gist of what was going on with the local sports teams even if you didn't follow them.

Anyhow, this is the open thread for tonight's games. And if they're boring, feel free to join us at the Darkstream.

I may be the only Raiders fan on the planet that always roots for the Chiefs and Chargers. [HATE the Broncos, though) Would like to see one of them bring the Lombardi trophy back to the AFC West.

Also a shout out to my Alma Mater for rolling the Tide!

What a depressing game for Colts fans...

The Chiefs' speed was too much for the Colts...

Well, had to flip over to the SAP for the Cowgirls/Rams. There's only so much Joe Buck a man can take...

Please Rivers defeat the Chiefs.

And I hope the superstition about Foles comes to an end tomorrow. He's scary when he has to be clutch.

Awesome, I am thrilled, its still football season!! Dad loves it!!

Wonderful DS, I do not understand the lack of prayer and protections, no JP didnt defend his own daughter and let her go on social media posting pictures that quite frankly should not appear.

And no JP doesn't have the heart anymore to care for a pet, Mrs. Day's beloved dog is in trouble, its been a long matter I hope she is recovering and stable. Please Lord, help the family dog, they are family too, I love life; pets, our family, friends etc., online and offline I have no hate - I want, I pray for healing. I have called and called for help on dads vision.

The Lord knows what is going on and what the needs are before we even ask, so Lord help us! We Need The Lord!

The hydrocodone pills were an excellent visual in that I have had to be in the place where I have to know the truth to ask the liar a question of which I know the answer to and they still lie thinking I dont know the answer to the very basic question.

He's gotta get through the Patriots first if he can. And I don't think he'll have what it takes to beat the Chiefs twice in a row even if he does, especially now that the Chiefs have fully adjusted to Hunt's dismissal. I made the prediction earlier that if Chiefs defense shows up the Colts wouldn't stand a chance. Same for the Chargers.

Tough loss for the 'boys. Didn't watch much if it but they stayed in it at least.

The games tomorrow are gonna be interesting!

I'll take Patriots and New Orleans. Patriots are just too good at home, especially in the playoffs. And New Orleans is too well rounded for the Eagles, but the Eagles will at least make a game of it.

The Universe is unfolding as it should........

So who folded it in the first place?

Chiefs fan here and I agree about the Broncos. Never really liked them. Buuuut I can't really get behind the Raiders either, but less animosity towards them than the Broncos. Maybe recent years' rivalry has something to do with that. I've always had a soft spot for the Chargers though, and will usually root for them as long as it doesn't affect the Chiefs' standings.

The Chiefs and the Rams both looked very strong today. I'm hoping the Chargers beat the Cheatriots tomorrow.

Chargers win today better team all dynasties die eventually

Blogger AdognamedOp January 13, 2019 3:55 AM

Was good to see some ole ground and pound today. The Rams decimated the C'boys D. I thinks the Brees boy will fold either today or next week.

Blogger Mr.MantraMan January 13, 2019 8:34 AM

Chargers won't win, too much of the Rivers all shotgun all the time ego offense, West coast Dan Marino.

As for the Colts either no receiver separation, Luck has loose marbles upstairs or the play calling sucks the hind teat, I'm going with play calling.

Question for the assembled smart and informed, are we supporting slavery by watching the NFL or is LeBron James trying to full fill a stereotype of a "dumb nagger?"

Blogger Wishing Star January 13, 2019 9:16 AM

Brett Maher represents the Husker Nation well, but Zuerlien out dueled him like no other last night. Sorry Cowboys.

Blogger Rough Carrigan January 13, 2019 3:30 PM

The Patriots are steamrolling the Chargers.

How often have warm weather teams gone into cold weather venues and won? Seldom.

The Vikings made a big mistake in going to a dome. Yeah, it's more comfortable and all that but, if you're the Minnesota Vikings and some Atlanta or Tampa Bay or Los Angeles team has to come up to your home to play outdoors in January you've got a huge home field advantage. If they just go up to another dome heated to 72 degrees just like theirs is cooled to 72 degrees, your home field advantage is greatly diminished.

Blogger Dave January 13, 2019 3:49 PM

The Vikings made a big mistake in going to a dome.

They don't hold a Superbowl there without a dome. It's also more about the fans comfort nowadays and they can do more in a dome those 5 or 6 months a year than 8 Vikings home games.

Blogger Rough Carrigan January 13, 2019 3:59 PM

If your city has cold winter weather and your goal is to host the Super Bowl you should build a dome. If your goal is to have your team play in a Super Bowl, you shouldn't.

Blogger Harris January 13, 2019 8:31 PM

I'm a Cowboys fan. I expected the Cowboys to lose by 20. I was pleasantly surprised they only lost by 8 points.

The Cowboys aren't going to win any championships with their current QB. But the front office and coaching staff love Dak Prescott. That, along with the Anthem Protests, is good enough reason to ignore the NFL for the foreseeable future.

Blogger Rough Carrigan January 13, 2019 8:44 PM

Prescott is not an accurate enough thrower to be a top flight quarterback. There guys wide open against the Rams that he completely missed with no pressure on him. If that game was a typical Prescott game he can be average but no better. You can win a Super Bowl with a quarterback who's average but you've got to have a great defense (2000 Ravens, 2002 Bucs, 2013 Broncos) and you've got to face a less than great team in the Super Bowl. It's a stupid plan to have. Teams fall into that situation accidentally. They don't sit there a few years out from possible fruition and say, "Let's keep this average quarterback and try to build a great defense." Dilfer was a stopgap for the Ravens. Brad Johnson was a bit more than that for the Bucs. Peyton Manning fell apart and was barely adequate by the time the Broncos had improved their D.

Bill Belichick would never have Dak Prescott as his quarterback and say "Okay, we've got that problem solved for the next decade."

Blogger Rough Carrigan January 13, 2019 8:47 PM

And, just as an aside, Bill Belichick wore a red Gadsden shirt into the stadium before the Super Bowl against the Seahawks.
