The Gilded Path

Last night's Darkstream was on the media's made men, including Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro:

As evidence that I'm not simply conjuring these observations out of thin air, consider this graphic on Ben Shapiro's "gilded path to prominence".
Following his departure from Breitbart. Shapiro quickly founded the Daily Wire with funding from its owners, brothers Farris and Dan Wilks, Texas fracking billionaires who supported Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in the 2016 Republican presidential primary. The brothers and their wives combined to donate $15 million to a pro-Cruz super PAC in the early election season.

YAF has “Young Americans for Freedom” student chapters at colleges and universities around the country. The nonprofit helps organize and sponsor campus lectures, and Shapiro is one of YAF’s most prolific college speakers. Since 2015, YAF has organized over 35 Shapiro speaking gigs, according to the organization. In November 2017, YAF announced that it would be the “exclusive home” of Shapiro’s 2018–2019 college speaking tour, funded by Fred R. Allen. (It’s unclear who Fred Allen is, and YAF did not return an inquiry about his identity.) The group announced on July 25 that six universities will host Shapiro this fall with the headline, “LOOK OUT SNOWFLAKES.”
The chart below clearly demonstrates the difference between organic popularity and manufactured fake popularity. Or, as one commenter noted, the difference between those who have sold their souls and those who have not. Keep in mind that the yellow line represents Stefan Molyneaux, who has 889,759 YouTube subscribers compared to Ben Shapiro's 444,386. It's difficult to see from this graph, but note that for 11 years, from 2004 until early 2016, my Google Trends profile was reliably higher than Shapiro's despite the best efforts of those propping him up.

And no, I'm not envious at all. I've been calling out Shapiro since 2005. Why would I ever envy a cowardly little creature who couldn't compete with me without selling his soul? I know the price of "success" like that and it is not one that I would ever be willing to pay.

Sorry, VD, but you're well off base here. Fact is, Ben Shapiro's never had a soul to sell. His parents almost certainly mortgaged it before birth in exchange for having a child prodigy.

What I can't figure out is, who thinks Ben Shapiro is a good investment? No Israeli would ever take his hyper-aggression seriously, especially given his cosseted American lifestyle. The last three years in particular should definitively settle the idea that neocon ideology is still popular within the Republican Party. And Shapiro is absolutely toxic to any part of the new minority coalition, especially average American Jews.

Further evidence that Sharpio is popped up is that he's replacing one of the most popular talk show host in the country. Do the people giving Michael Savage the boot really believe that this asshole is going to get better ratings? No, but they do believe that he can make a difference in 2020.

I predict that because 2020 is so important to the Cabal lil Benji will drop the pretense and go (tiny) balls out against Trump. His ratings will plummet and he'll still keep his job, but most of his audience will abandon him like Beck.

Blogger dienw January 02, 2019 10:58 AM

I was in YA for Freedom in 1967/68 but the neo-cons successfully co-opted it in the nineties.

Blogger Lance E January 02, 2019 11:01 AM

Did Shapiro have integrity before 2016? Do we know what event or decision, public or private, triggered the media bubble? Was that the same time he went Never Trump?

No, I called him out publicly in 2005.

Do we know what event or decision, public or private, triggered the media bubble? Was that the same time he went Never Trump?

Yes. Yes.

Is it now the case that the 30 pieces of silver are replaced by 30k followers?

I've had discussions with a couple college undergraduates about Benji. I asked them about the Littlest Chickenhawk, and why didn't he stand by his convictions and volunteer for the U.S. or Israeli forces in the early oughts. Why does he want YOU to go instead? Generates a lot of foot shuffles and mumbles.

Blogger Jew613 January 02, 2019 11:12 AM

Shapiro is a man who stands for nothing. His only values are to push what the Wilks family wants, from what I've heard he sold his soul a long time ago. He has prepared lines to push the Ayn Rand economics the Wilks like, he falls apart in a real debate.

I see the snake-fucker Romney has once again attempted to climb to power over the corpse of his president.

Speaking of soulless vampires ...

Blogger Tars Tarkusz January 02, 2019 11:53 AM

I don't get what they see in him. He has a face for radio and a voice for writing. He looks like a little worm and is super-geeky. When he speaks in his debates he sounds like a Chihuahua. There is literally nothing appealing about the guy.

I kept hearing about him a few years back about how he totally owned Piers Morgan. Finally someone uploaded it to YT and I was like "this is the great pwnage of PM?"

What a shocker that it is always Jews these people promote. There are way too many Jews in so-called right wing talk radio for it to be completely random. They probably make up less than .5% of the right wing base in America.

Blogger CarpeOro January 02, 2019 11:54 AM

Benny certainly has something in common with another member of his tribe that had his celebrity created (Bruce Springsteen). I was never impressed with his talent either.

Blogger PolitiCrump January 02, 2019 12:10 PM

Shapiro, Peterson, and the rest of the IDW are simply the newest manifestations of the perennial gatekeeper problem which continues to plague conservatism. Because the exact nature of conservatism is highly contextual - all it means is to defend the status quo ante, necessitating the question of how that is defined (as opposed to Liberalism or Socialism which are definite political philosophies with means and ends) these fraudsters come in, expound their globalist and free market beliefs as the embodiment of "true conservatism" - with the backing of billionaires - and pretty soon take over the movement.

We NEED to be vigilant and stay awake lest the thief in the night break in to our home - yet it seems this cycle continues to repeat itself.

Blogger ThoughtCriminal January 02, 2019 12:18 PM

CarpeOro, Bruce isn’t Jewish.

Another revealing comparison is Ben Shapiro with NN Taleb. The latter is better-known now than ever, yet is LESS popular on Trends than he was during the 2008-09 crisis:,%2Fm%2F04bdrz

The algorithm obviously gives disproportionate weight to mainstream coverage, which is just gatekeeping-by-proxy. Interesting how you can see they are trying to do the same thing with Candace Owens and Charlie Kirk, but with far less success:,Charlie%20Kirk,Ben%20Shapiro

Her and Diamond and Silk... All 3 of them are literal Coons cashing in on conservatards dying to show how non-racist they are.
How in God's good name did anti-racism become a thing in the so-called right wing?

Blogger Robin January 02, 2019 12:45 PM

According to Infogalactic, Springsteen has a Dutch/Irish father and Italian mother, and was raised Roman Catholic.

Exactly. Conservatives are total suckers for non-whites and non-Christians who mouth conservative talking points.

Ben Shapiro first came into my consciousness when he was mocked for white knighting for Michelle Fields.

They started as BLM protestors! None of that exaggerated black woman stuff was in their videos. I think they still have a couple of those BLM videos on their channel. Just change the view to oldest videos.

Blogger Unknown January 02, 2019 5:04 PM

@1- Shapiro truly ought to appeal to no one. But he's kept himself from booing full NeverTrump and he's pretty much the only Israel First media neocon who can appeal to anyone but braindead boomers.

Mix two people liking his Epic Takedowns of Snowflakes and people of power and wealth deciding we're going to know his name, and that explains it I guess.

Would calling the intellectual dark web "Fake Counterculture" be decent rhetoric?

Blogger H8KU com January 02, 2019 6:36 PM

Ben Shapiro trends because he's a living meme. Okay, this is epic.

Blogger Boorn Boorm January 02, 2019 6:41 PM

Since Peterson is not kosher, I left out some room for Shapiro. That ended after I watched the Steve Bannon interviews. The contempt Shapiro had for him simply didn't match the content of what Bannon said.

I was disappointed - and then I see Shapiro use CE instead of AD, and then I thought, "you gotta be shitting me, you are using the GREGORIAN (Pope Gregory XIII) you son of a bitch - please don't make me fall into the "JOOS BE SUBERVERSIVE" rabbit hole!"

Blogger Boorn Boorm January 02, 2019 6:48 PM

Another thought on Bannon. He was very smart, calling the internet left/right back and forth "wrestling," so it's for show, like a sport, but it is staged like the WWE.
Then I remember videos like "Ben Shapiro verbally pogroms pathetic tranny leftist."

"Benny certainly has something in common with another member of his tribe that had his celebrity created (Bruce Springsteen). I was never impressed with his talent either."

Neither have I. The damnedest thing is that after he went from nobody to celebrity, what moderate talents he had took a nosedive. I don't think he even has one album's worth of songs which were actually worth recording.
In the 70's, he was "a musician" whose name everyone had heard, but very few could name any of his songs. Not even "The Captain and Tennille" level.
