Color me dubious

The US Left appears to be protesting too much:
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg appeared in public Monday night, her first public outing since her lung cancer surgery last December. Ginsburg, 85, attended a concert celebrating herself titled, Notorious RBG in Song, that featured her daughter-in-law, soprano Patrice Michaels. Attendees said Ginsburg looked, “glam”, “magnificent” and “great”. One man who said he spoke with and was hugged by Ginsburg said she looked “resplendent”.
Actually, she does look pretty great. I wouldn't say convincing, quite, but she does resemble a living human being. More or less.

She has escaped from her crypt.

They can drug you up so much that you will feel great regardless. If she is in the way out what I would expect to see is overly thin.

Blogger Shimshon February 05, 2019 9:04 AM

The terrible secret is that RBG, like so many celebrities, died a horrible death by doorknob strangulation. Like Robin Williams and many others. I even heard a rumor that she was WITH Robin Williams when he died.

Blogger Shadowfax February 05, 2019 9:12 AM

Someone tweetet that an SC spokesperson affirmed...

I wonder are we seeing that part of the 'Trump prophecies' play out?

Paraphrasing: "He'll replace five SC justices: one will die (not the one you think [so I guess not her, and Scalia was already dead when that prophecy was made, it's not clear how he / Gorsuch fits in]), one will retire, three will be caught up in a scandal."

I guess other SC justices helping her to cover up the terrible state she's in would qualify.

Blogger Silly but True February 05, 2019 9:15 AM

Like Williams did, Ginsburg also suffers from body dementia. In her case, she thinks her body is alive.

Blogger OneWingedShark February 05, 2019 9:17 AM

I get the sense that there are those who would pull a Bill Clinton and say "it depends on what the definition of 'alive' is" as they point at her brain-in-a-jar contraption. (And, yes, they would do so while completely unaware that the argument undermines their precious child-sacrifice industry.)

I would also be utterly unsurprised to hear that the next few 'opinions' she gives will be done totally by her aides. Another poster commented about Trump prophecies with a paraphrase saying "three will be caught up in a scandal" if she's dead or utterly incapacitated but allowed to 'vote' & 'write opinions' that would be a huge scandal, ultimately undermining a lot of the Supreme Court's dignity… in fact, it could put their approval/trust on-par with Congress.

I doubt it is RBG prime; the body double technology is too far advanced; it could very well be that the double has been recovering from extensive cosmetic surgery while RGB prime is dead.

Blogger Ron Winkleheimer February 05, 2019 9:21 AM

She's 85 and she fell down and broke some ribs. In addition, she had lung surgery. At that age it takes a looonnngg time to recover and you never do so completely. And once you hit that stage, you start to go down hill fast. Its that simple.

Technology? All they did was tie Kagan and Sotomayor's shoelaces to Ginsberg's shoes. Kagan's wrist tied to RBG's. Keep close, do the Weekend at Bernie's thing.

It worked for Hillary.

Blogger dc.sunsets February 05, 2019 9:36 AM

I'm not the least bit tired of Weekend-At-Ginsberg's jokes and memes. That's a bottomless well of belly-laughs.

OTOH, when I look at the caliber of people who are now deemed "fit" to rule our polity (open morons like AOC and Booker in Congress, or poster-children for the lowered standards of Affirmative Action like Kagan and Sotomayor on the SCOTUS) I guess it really doesn't matter if they wheel a grossly cognitively impaired octogenarian into place so an assistant can join hands to scrawl a signature on a piece of paper.

As with the general somnolence regarding AMZN/FB/TWIT/GOOGL/Et.Al. "Slavery Is Freedom" schtick, the die was cast long ago.

How many times must we simple press a button to highlight the age-old axiom that success breeds complacency, and the complacent are set up for a hard fall into hardship commensurate with the amplitude of prior complacency?

I've long said, "Nothing sets up failure like success."

I kind of hope she's alive, because that makes it funnier that they're going to such lengths to prove it. It's like when leftists were running around blogs and forums insisting that that dark spot on Hillary's tongue certainly was NOT a disease she got from eating brains.

To reiterate what we have known for years: they never thought she would lose.
I suspect they did tons of calculations, counting on their vote manipulations/frauds, and were foiled by the higher-than-expected turnout for Trump; it would be a mistake to assume that they will miscalculate like that again, though there is some chance of it with identity politics becoming more and more a wedge between the various Democrat groups, possibly to the point one of the unexperienced will "get their hands on the levers" to the corruption-machine.

You gotta admit, she's pretty tough. She's got that going for her, at any rate. Maybe the Trump hatred is is partially responsible for that -- determination goes a long way.

In Atul Gawande's book Mortality he talks about how few of us are healthy one day, then dead the next, though it does happen. Mostly it's a series of debiitating episodes, and while you can recover from each one, your situation afterward is worse than before.

Eventually, you survive the last episode, but the subsequent decline leads to the inevitable.

Or the final episode is in fact an instantaneous coup de grace.
