A commitment to seppuku
Google is hell-bent on eviscerating itself. The not-at-all Orwellian-titled Global Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and, apparently, Employee Engagement, made an important announcement today.
I recently stepped up to lead Employee Engagement in addition to our diversity, equity and inclusion teams. Making good on these commitments and pushing the company to meet our OKR to progress a representative and inclusive workplace are my top priorities. I care about these issues deeply. I’ve dedicated myself to this work for my entire career, and I’m proud to lead this work at Google.Translation: we're making it even easier for SJWs to thought and speech police their fellow employees. There will be no space for Badthink! Renounce the God-Emperor and all his works!
Here’s what we’re announcing today:
- We’ve simplified and clarified the way employees can raise concerns by bringing multiple channels together on a new dedicated site. We’re also providing a similar site for our temp and vendor workforce, which will be completed by June.
- We just published (internally) our Investigations Report, the fifth annual summary of employee-related misconduct investigations, including discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, with an expanded section on sexual harassment investigations.
- After a four-month pilot, we’re expanding our Support Person Program so that Googlers can bring a colleague to harassment and discrimination investigations.
- We’re rolling out a new Investigations Care Program to provide better care to Googlers during and after an investigation.
- We’re sharing a new Investigations Practice Guide outlining how concerns are handled within Employee Relations to explain what employees can expect during the investigations process.
- We are publicly sharing our workplace policies—including our very clear policies on harassment, discrimination, retaliation, standards of conduct, and workplace conduct.

I recently pulled all remaining AdWords campaigns my businesses had running. And it hurts, financially.
But until these morons no longer have money to burn -- and they literally do -- there is very little chance of them backing away from the SJW insanity, amonsgt other evils to which they are clearly subscribed and committed.
Global Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and, apparently, Employee Engagement...
and apparently head of the NKVD

Voter fraud? What's a voter fraud?
Support Person Program? De-euphemised that means what? Bring a witness to your show trial?
It sucks that all the good content is on google platforms like youtube.
Making good on these commitments and pushing the company to meet our OKR to progress a representative and inclusive workplace are my top priorities.
Well at least she commits horrible crimes against the English language, so that I feel extra justified in my hate. That's always nice, to not be conflicted. Thanks, Melonie!
I can never get used to how much some people buy into this stuff when it so frequently involves fighting imaginary problems.
Googlers can bring a colleague to harassment and discrimination investigations
Bring your comfort human to your struggle session! Just one of the many perks here at Main Camp Administration!
I miss the anarchy that was the Internet of the 90s.
The effect of this poison is becoming clear to more casual observers. Search is completely broken. Even DDG, which I believe uses the Google index, returns more noise than signal these days. Direct Google searches, likewise.
I don't know how long Google will continue to ride on the momentum built early, but they don't provide even a basic service any longer.
Also, they broke Youtube and can't hide that anymore, either. As the poison spreads, people become redpilled to it.
It all seems a matter of momentum at this point. How much damage can continue to be done while they ride the rotting carcass.
'...diversity, equity, and inclusion teams...' A separate team for each one of these non-goals, or multiple teams that deal with all of these? Either way, what an incredible waste of time.
It reads like the kind of memo an office worker in Hell might get.
> We are publicly sharing our workplace policies—including our very clear policies on harassment, discrimination, retaliation, standards of conduct, and workplace conduct.
Which have all the right words of course. Strangely enough however, those policies will only be enforced one way. SJW's will be allowed to harass, discriminate, and retaliate all they want. But wearing a MAGA hat to work? That will be a firing offense.
> ..and apparently head of the NKVD
Equally likely the local head of NVIXM.
Nothing says "I'm a soulless corporate hack" better than "I care about these issues deeply."
This cries out for a proper line-by-line fisking, but this jumped out: "I’ve dedicated myself to this work for my entire career..."
If you let someone who has dedicated her (I'm guessing) entire career to this garbage anywhere near your company, you're in trouble. It's like inviting the head of the union to be your VP. The head of the union who wears lots of Che t-shirts.
As sponsor of the movie endgame, they were inspired to start their own endgame
using progress as a verb should be a firing offense.
The latest version of google G mail is broken. Now, clunky, slow with features if you call them that, that I can do without. Sad.
What would be the recommended mail engine of choice among the Ilk? I'm looking.
Am also going to Duckduckgo, or whatever its called for searches.
And here Brave Rewards just started yesterday. If that's not perfect timing...
Google sounds like it has an Inner Cult that has grabbed the loot and to keep the company going they hire contractors many of whom are undesirable white men, almost like the Pakleds of Star Trek TNG fame.

You're now well past being in trouble and the only direction left is down. This is signaling Google's cancer as metastasized.
outlook has over taken gmail in function and Bing has been better than Google for search for a long time.
my God.. we live in a world where Microsoft is probably the least evil tech company.
I assumed the title was another marveldisney referrence
Fortunately nothing in Google's policies protects the Global Director for Diversity etc. from retaliation from the Universal Director for Universal Justice, namely God and those who volunteer as his hangmen.
I used to work for a behemoth telecom company.
Prior to that, I thought Dilbert was funny. Not so much when you see the live show. Why in the hell would any sane person want to work for google?
and @18 Jack, I went to protonmail from google. It's a yuuuge improvement. I like it so much I got the paid version.

Oh the irony.

This sounds to me like they're trying to set things up so that they can (a) isolate groups, and (b) track where things originate — almost like an anti-leak campaign. Maybe they wish to get ahead of the curve WRT another James Damore.
The Cooler wrote:Voter fraud? What's a voter fraud?
Something that the federal government seems absolutely fine with, given their lack of action.

Is it just me, or would a "F— you, I don't care" response be a refreshingly honest breath of fresh air.

This is very likely the case, and one reason why they need to segregate the temp and contractor workforces away from the normal channels for complaints: "those groups are bad-people, so their complaints don't matter; we should only listen to good-people."
Nate wrote:my God.. we live in a world where Microsoft is probably the least evil tech company.
It's kinda weird, and also a shame given some of their wrongheaded corporate and business decisions. (E.G. Windows 10, Cloud, and "AI".)

Excuse me, but I just tested this by throwing in some basic search terms, and got reasonable results. Google likes to link to Wikipedia for things, I notice.
But it even correctly returns a link if I copy-paste from VoxDay's blog posts - but not from the comments.
@17 Nate even worse, a transitive verb.
Companies cannot afford for long such ridiculous financially burdensome departments without falling behind in performance to competitors. And while that would include lavish unnecessary expenditures like a bounce house team or filet catering squad, it is made only worse as this department will almost surely be aimed at removing the talent that is keeping the company afloat.
Rejoice... the end is near.
@Nate - my God.. we live in a world where Microsoft is probably the least evil tech company.

When I read that blog post, it sure as hell reads as a threat to anyone that doesn't kowtow to the Narrative...
Is this why Google's products suck? Because things like this cause products to suck.

Boy howdy, Damelon, you've got that right. I wouldn't want anywhere near this poisonous wench. She (it? You never know these days) must think there's a boogeyman around every corner, under every bed...
As my brother agrees, it's an open-air asylum.
For what it's worth, convergence levels at Minnesota's Top Employer are less than a standard deviation behind Google. Remember that when you're going in for surgery.
Dear God. One doesn't know whether to laugh or cry.
What a freak show!
Progress used as a transitive verb means send somebody to the Gulag. "Don't worry, Grand Leader of the People, we have already progressed the insurgents."

^^^ THIS ^^^ A thousand times, this. I, too am looking. Begging, in fact.
OT but … sit down (yes) and read this:

Even DDG, which I believe uses the Google index,
DDG uses Bing and many other sources, but as far as I've ever been able to tell they do not use Google. My own searches reflect that, often turning up the same top results in the same order on DDG and Bing, while getting very different results on Google.
Oath/Yahoo and Outlook/Hotmail are terrible now too. They are only marginally usable if you allow all of their scripts and ads to run. It's possible that Microsoft is the least evil big tech company but that isn't saying much. Windows 10 is steaming pile of crap, basically spyware itself. You can set the privacy settings to be as restrictive as possible and there are still Windows services that spy on you. Those have to be manually disabled if you want to stop Microsoft from collecting your private data.
Point 3 is rather interesting. Sounds like a concession to SJWAL - demands to be allowed to have a witness/lawyer/whatever present during HR inquisitions.
I wonder if they implemented that because the SJWs insisted on it (why?), or if the previous version turned out to be in a legal gray area.

I heavily lean on Protonmail for personal use.
For business use, Office 365 not only is on par with G Suite for pricing, but plays far nicer with Outlook for where the MS App suite is business-standard. Also, dealing with keeping old employees email available to new people works a lot better as you can convert former accounts to (free) shared mailboxes and grant access to the new accounts without either still paying for the old account or the wonkiness involved in renaming the old account for the new person.
There are also some good migration tools that only cost a couple dollars a head one time.
Now if onedrive weren't almost utter trash .
"our OKR to progress"
Say what with the who now? Does he mean advance their goals, or something like that? Who talks like this?
@4- No, I think a Support Person is like a therapist who's not a therapist. Says stuff like "I know" and "there-there" to supposed victims of sexual abuse. Maybe not just sexual abuse anymore, but all abuse.
I want to say they're receptacles for feelz, which otherwise might get out of control and hurt the bottom line.
@37
Fastmail and Outlook. Not a huge fan of Outlook - but it works as advertised. Windows 10 is functional and stable - and is probably the least bad option for operating systems for someone who doesn't have time to dick around with Linux a lot. Unfortunately there are mostly bad options for a lot of tech services nowadays.

A smoothly functioning, deep division-of-labor economy to which we were once accustomed requires an astonishing amount of willing and open interchange that takes place in a mostly evenly administered way. And mass market things require...a mass market.
At the other end of the spectrum, when people cannot cooperate (or their cooperation is prohibited by law or by the kind of zealotry seen at GOOGL) then increasingly we should see goods or services simply disappear from the market, and an economy moves toward barbarism where everything must be produced DIY.
As SJ Warfare increasingly crowds out firms' ACTUAL production, this means that mass-market kinds of endeavors will become ever less useful until they cease to be used at all.
We stand at the top of a vast mountain and do not realize that getting here required processes (and social cooperation) that erodes before our very eyes. Social Justice War is irreconcilable with cooperation. Threats and frequent Two Minutes Hates are not a condition that yields production.
The "higher" the tech, the more cooperation and openness are required. Promoting SJW activity is the death knell of all large-scale high tech.
when will trump pull the trigger on the antitrust lawsuits to break up big tech. the government successfully broke up Ma Bell. and there was no suppression of constitutional rights by AT&T back then, just suppression of economic rights.
For a paid service, hosted exchange online is an excellent value, if you don’t mind feeding the MS beast. It’s outlook.com without the ads and all the features of outlook and exchange.
For free email, protonmail is a nice service but their limits may make it unusable for most people. You really need to pay for it.
If you’re really technical, run your own - but I don’t recommend it anymore.
Not sure what else to recommend.
The shopping list of tasks basically is all about creating an ideological nest, a place for SJW remoras to feed on a business.
Nowhere does this persynx (or whatever gender-stripped noun applies) ever indicate how these things will contribute to the bottom line. And it seems like the Google BoD/shareholders are fine with this, because they already so much money to burn through that they don't mind the bleeding.
Is this what they teach at them fancy business schools?
"a recepticle for feelz" is a phrase that gets far too little use.
Trump should pull the trigger on antitrust action against big tech now to avert another attempt to rig federal elections in 2020.
Protonmail.com. Its run by CERN.Also provides encryption if required. And your content is not harvested for advertising.

OKR = Oberkommando vom Reich
Is that literally just a list of more convenient ways for the fatbodied genderqueer transpersons-of-color to complain about the white nerds who are still doing actual work? Because James Damore already showed everyone what happens when the white guys express "concerns."
OKR stands for Opposition Kill Rate
chilling memo.
