Indiegogo plays science police

They were already playing thought police, but now they're branching out into policing science:
The last year has been the worst on record in the US for measles outbreaks since the disease was declared ‘eradicated’ in 2000. Even though vaccination rates across the country are still high, (according to the CDC) there remains some communities where disinformation campaigns which claim that ‘vaccines are dangerous’ (often called ‘anti-vaxx’ campaigns) have led to parents refusing to vaccinate their children. Sadly, this can lead to a deadly outbreak when members of the public are exposed to someone who has picked up the disease, often overseas. Measles is highly contagious and can be fatal, especially amongst children.

And despite President Trump telling Americans to “get their shots”, 45 has previously appeared to link vaccines and autism. Public health experts say there is no link.

At the same time, over half a million children in Britain have been left unprotected against measles in the past decade and Unicef has called for a renewed focus on immunization.

It’s with this background that some tech companies are starting to realize they may have been part of the problem.

Yesterday Crowdfunding site Indiegogo said it would no longer allow anti-vaccine fundraisers or similarly unscientific, so-called “health campaigns”, to use its platform.

The move came after $86,543 was raised for a documentary, called Vaxxed II, based on the false claim that vaccines cause autism. Although the organization behind it, The People’s Truth, will still get their cash, minus the site’s 5% fee, Indiegogo said it was now planning a new policy to keep similar anti-vaccine projects off its site, a company spokesperson told BuzzFeed News Friday.

The fundraiser did not violate IndieGoGo’s existing policies on untruthful campaigns, but Indiegogo never promoted it on its site, said a company spokesperson. Executive directors of the “documentary”, Polly Tommey and Brian Burrowes, have criticized tech companies’ ‘de-platforming’ of their film as “censorship”.

Indiegogo is the latest in a line of tech companies coming round to the idea of cutting off the oxygen of publicity and cash to such campaigns.
The unmentioned elephant in the room is the I-word. Immigration. That's the real reason for the increase in measles everywhere, along with the increase in a whole host of other diseases for which there is no vaccination.

The fact that none of these pro-vaccine activists will even mention the word serves to demonstrate that their professed concerns about measles, and their professed concerned about children's health, is entirely false.

In Germany you can now often find head lice medicine openly on display in pharmacies. 2010 we had around 4000 cases of tuberculosis and now almost 6000, but like VOX said: it never has something to do with refugees from third world countries, but it is called tuberculosis AUF DEM VORMARSCH (fast advance). Or headlines like TRUCK KILLS guests of Christmas market in Berlin.

Vox, in yesterday's Darkstream you reported something that made me laugh just as hard as any of Owen's jokes:
the fact that Indiegogo's arbitration procedures might have to take place in the respective plaintiffs hometown which might mean they would have to send teams of Lawyers to China, Argentina, Australia and South Africa (I would presume the contracts with their lawyers specify "business class" in such cases). And I take it that will all come out of the flat fee of a few hundred dollars the plaintiffs have to pay.

"The unmentioned elephant in the room is the I-word. Immigration. That's the real reason for the increase in measles everywhere, along with the increase in a whole host of other diseases for which there is no vaccination."

It is unmentioned because it is particularly effective on both the dialectic and rhetorical levels. The disgust factor alone could end immigration for a generation should normal Americans become aware of it. The left know on a visceral level that their power depends on continuing to import diseased hordes from the third world who will support them and their globonazi religion. Typhoid Mary writ large.

Perhaps ICE should be focusing on catch and quarrantine instead of catch and release (since catch and send back is apparently too much to ask). If they are going to be released by leftist immigration judges, the release should occur in their neighborhoods, with large signs and loudspeakers proclaiming this is occurring courtesy of "Judge Smith". I'm reliably informed that the local schools will be much improved by the diversity.

That's obviously untrue. If you're going to blatantly lie, you're not going to be permitted to comment here. People who are "anti-vaccine" are simply prioritizing the health of some children over others. Nor is there any evidence concerning their opinions on immigration one way or another.

Blogger Crave April 29, 2019 8:13 AM

Vaccines can save lives. They can also be given too early or in too large a quantity. "Too" obviously means detrimentally. What are these detrimental effects, and why are we certain that autism isn't among the possibilities?

Blogger Troushers April 29, 2019 8:16 AM

I've never quite understood the logic. Vaccine advocates presumably vaccinate their own kids. So regardless of the state of the "herd immunity" they are quite safe from epidemics.

And just why are vaccines a special category? Perhaps they should prevent criticisms of pharmacological agents by suppressing dissident voices?

Vox's point about the unacknowledged role of immigration is a good one, and extends to scientistry generally. Science is increasingly performed by immigrants from low trust cultures with no compulsion for honesty or by a native generation who have lost the moral rock of Christianity. Is it any wonder you can no longer trust that their research conclusions correspond to reality?

Viruses cause an immune response.
Vaccines cause an immune response.
Both are capable of causing adverse inflammatory damage.

Vaccines bypass the standard communicable pathways of viruses, slipping through the wall so to speak. Just like immigrants. Some assimilate, some inflame the public.

Vaccines make money. If they make autism too, they make more money. Diversity is their strength.

Blogger dawnfrombeyond April 29, 2019 8:29 AM

My vaccine research began when I first became pregnant in 1979. This was pre-Internet, so I had to (gasp) read books! Back then, autism was barely mentioned. But the first thing I learned is that "vaccines sow the seeds of cancer." No shots for my kids, nor my grandchildren now, either. I became a Natural Hygienist, and learned about the importance of keeping the bloodstream pure.
Now we have tyrants wanting to force us to inject poisons, chemicals, human fetal cell-lines, and foreign (animal) DNA into our bodies because of fear of measly measles. There have always been a small percentage of people who refuse to vaccinate. They should have left us alone, but now they have awakened a sleeping Giant – we will never comply! The tyrants repeat the big Lie over and over: vaccines are safe and effective. They are neither.
Although since 1986, vaccine manufacturers cannot be sued in the U.S., the “vaccine court” has paid out Four Billion Dollars for vaccine injuries (paid for by a tax paid by the consumer on every jab). Vaccines are the only product ever, which carries no liability; the manufacturers have no reason to try and make them safer.
The PTB keep harping on measles, a mild infection which bestows lifelong immunity (and possibly other benefits now being studied by true scientists). They don’t talk about mumps, of which there are thousands of cases now in fully-vaccinated groups, mainly college students. Merck is under investigation for fraud, and yet the tyrants want to mandate their MMR; how does that work? Vaccinating ruins our natural immunity; it is against Nature and interferes with God’s perfect design of our body-temple.

Bingo. When my daughter was born we refused vaccination. Some little Indian MD was present, as we had used midwives, and was instructing the nurses to vaccinate anyway. LOL. I humiliated the man in front of all of his trainee-MD's by demanding he explain to me why Hepatitis vaccine was necessary for a newborn. As I explained, no drug use, no casual sexual activity was observable in the delivery room, etc. etc. And I wondered aloud how was a newborn, with still no active liver function, supposed to process out of their body the toxins within a vaccine. When he got around to `discussing the need' for the `Vitamin K' shot, I demanded for him to read the warnings on the actual box. Japanese research has shown a 30K percent increase in childhood leukemia in those `infected' with the coal tar derivative of this so called `vitamin k'. When his nurse flunky returned stating she could not a box for it, I belly laughed. "The third busiest delivery hospital in major city X and you cannot find the box?". All AMA medical `professionals are just Pez pharma dispensers. All of them. It took all of my God given restraint to not launch the little Indian `doktor' through the windows. Pharma made no extra $ from us that day.

Not all vaccines save more lives than they take. Read up on number needed to treat(NNT), then figure out how many of those treated would have died, then figure out number needed to save a life (NNSL). For most vaccines, NNLS is comparable to the denominator of per capita disease deaths.

In short, vaccines are a mixed bag, with the best being a good gamble and the worst being worse than the disease. Since they are more profitable than disease, the drug companies push them hard and have bribed Congress to shield them from liability.

How do you know that a vaccine is a good gamble? Did your granny fear that disease? Was it eradicated by vaccine before the Turd World invasion? That vaccine might be a good bet if you're going to Africa or San Francisco.

McChuck wrote:Vaccines do not cause autism.

How are you going to prove that negative? It is obvious that some vaccines can cause autism in some children. We have in vitro pathways, we have in vivo correlation, that's enough evidence to avoid all but the most beneficial vaccines.

In addition to autism, we also have things like Guillaine Barre syndrome and cancers, all of which may be caused by vaccines. Isn't that a great trade? Get the wrong measles vaccine and you might trade shingles in your old age for cancer in your old age!

If you want vaccination, get it yourself. If you want me and mine vaccinated, fuck you.

@16 My daughter is almost 2 now, and I have a son due this month, and my wife and I really started looking into the whole vaccine thing once our first was born and we actually read the the pamphlets we were given when the vaccines were due. The first thing that we found odd was that one of the first vaccines they give is for Hepatitis C, which is insane because that is most commonly spread by needle sharing and I was pretty sure my newborn wasn't a junkie.
Then, if you start reading the possible side-effects of the vaccines, you come across things like encephalitis, which is just a fancy way of saying brain inflammation, that can cause "personality changes, seizures, weakness, and other symptoms depending on the part of the brain affected". But I guess no one thinks that's weird.

The low SES neighborhood I've mentioned? Had a shipment of illegal central American children into the elementary school. The grocery store two short walkable blocks from the store then had a pallet of lice control agents, right at the front door from then on. My daughter went through three rounds of lice in the space of a year. The 'blame' was on having a dog in the house, which we had before and since. We moved, no more lice.

This school was built near a public housing project, and a great many Section 8 fourplexes. The illegal immigrants would go home every three day weekend: home was over the border. They would bring back unnamed diseases each time. I learned to dread the week after Easter. They would go to the cathedral in their Mexican state: swine flu from the Mexico City cathedral, for one. Fevers of 101-104-105 from whatever these people brought back.

Now, on top of this, add HIPAA. The school would send home letters: "If your child shows these symptoms: XYZ, then go to the emergency room and show them this letter. They will know what to do. We cannot tell you what the disease is because of HIPAA." Imagine trusting strangers with your child, knowing they would not tell you critical information. One time our son told us the 'XYZ' was for meningitis so severe that the child had been taken out in an ambulance. The other times they did not know.

Now add the kids didn't think to tell us that they had to bleach down their desks twice a day. They thought this was normal. They wondered why their new school did not do this. Or, let's see, half the teachers of one school out with one disease, in February.

If you never seen the original Vaxxed and this topic interests you, then you should try to watch it. Not everything in documentaries is true, I get it, but watching that documentary (as well as other research) convinced me to not vaccinate my son. This is one of the movies banned by big tech in the past few months or so I’ve been told.

What is remarkable about these outbreaks that you always have to do some digging to find out is that usually 10-25% of the infected are people who have already been vaccinated. Not only are vaccines potentially dangerous to children, but they are not even necessarily effective.

Lastly, I am anti-vaccine AND against third world immigration... as if the two views couldn’t co-exist.

Time for a new doc.

We did get our children vaccinated, but I refused the hospital vaccines (hep c) and delayed the schedule. In our son’s case, it was necessary, as he had so many sensitivities to allergens from food and environment, his doc, for once, didn’t fight me in the delayed schedule.

They’re up to date, but we never get the flu shot, and will never get the HPV shot.

I’m still working on permission from husband to homeschool so the kids can avoid other poz like the notions of truvada or two mommies or immigration is great.

I learned not to bring up immigration in any discussion, let alone those about communicable diseases. Family members think I’m a loon and only discuss the banal with me.

To me it seems like the assumption is that every individual conforms to the lowest common denominator: poor parents who can't feed their kids a balanced diet, won't breastfeed and may accidentally stab their kid with a heroin needle. So to be safe, the pediatrician makes you vaccinate your kid against everything. And if you're "lucky" like me and your kid spent a couple months in the NICU with brething difficulties, they get prescribed Synagis too. And that's $1000/month out of my own pocket here in South Africa. All Synagis does is help with the RSV virus' symptoms, making them less dangerous. You know, the same thing breastmilk does. But if I refuse the Synagis injections and my child gets admitted to hospital with RSV, the medical aid won't cover it because I didn't follow the pediatrician's directions. Even though it's expensive AF and the only reason I can even afford it is because I was refunded a bunch of medical expenses relating to the aforementioned NICU stay. Because a $1000/month bill on top of everything else I have going on on a 3rd world salary is no joke.

This exactly. If their precious vaccines work so well then it shouldn't be a problem if your own kids aren't vaccinated. I didn't know vaccines were immune to liability before today, I'll add it to the list.

Infants can't even hold their own heads up. Their immune systems aren't in any better shape than their muscles.

Of course some will probably say that it's 'child abuse' to expose your kids... Yeah right. Get back to me once it's illegal to chop off your kids genitals and pump them full of hormones, when someone steps in to prevent children being trafficked across the border, and when the 60 million victims of abortion have been brought back to life.

If the same government that pushes the above wants your kids vaccinated then that alone should make you pause and think about it.

Apart from the actual lack of evidence and blind studies others have noted, it should be obvious that every vaccine won’t be equally effective or have the same risk/reward trade-offs. But the vaccine justice warriors want to prevent any discussion of things such as:

Value - e.g Polio vs chicken pox
Timing - Highly compressed and early CDC schedule
Immigration - as noted
Population variation - a vaccine could be broadly effective and beneficial for 95% of people yet highly detrimental for small populations or genotypes. It could even demonstrate a statistically significant overall benefit while still being bad for certain individuals or groups.

Blogger DonReynolds April 29, 2019 11:42 AM

Vox is entirely correct. The elephant in the room is Immigration, which is seldom mentioned at all, but there may be an even bigger LIE involved without actually speaking it. Specifically planting the public notion that immigration is NOT a public health hazard because they (and YOU) get your shots. And even though your own kids sit next to fresh Mexicans or recently arrived Afrikans in school all day, year round, that is nothing to worry about if your family has been properly vaccinated. That is a huge LIE.

By having highly visible vax campaigns for certain specific childhood illnesses, public health may be allowing an implied LIE, that the migratory populations are NOT a public health risk as long as YOU are vaccinated. In order to accomplish that implied LIE, the powers that be cannot permit a whisper campaign regarding the known risks of vaccination, whether it is true or not, whether it is exaggerated or not, whether it is based on science and medicine or voodoo and folk tales. Doesn't matter. A reasonable complaint against flooding the country with foreigners is diseases and we can beat back that argument with a new banner and flyers at the local health department claiming victory over disease with a few extra vaccinations a month.

My children were all required to have a complete and up-to-date record of immunization every year or they would not be allowed to attend school for even a single day. BUT the same powers cannot bring themselves to enforce the same laws on foreign migrants. No drivers license? That's OK. No fishing license? That's OK too. No car insurance? No problem, that is what uninsured motorist coverage is for. No Green Card? Who cares, you will still get paid on Friday. Drunk driving, hit and run, vehicular homicide, murder, rape, burglary? It is OK. They do not know any better. These are not people, they are pets.

The simple fact is....the powers that be in this country cannot continue to flood the nation with millions of foreign citizens without encountering resistance. One of the very reasonable complaints is the public health hazards of foreign populations from some of the most diseased corners of the world. They introduce old diseases that had been eradicated in First World countries and new diseases for which there is little or no public health defense. Not many diseases have a reliable vax. There are many infections that have no treatment or cure, that are often debilitating or fatal, particularly with vulnerable younger or older populations.

The only reason there are disease “outbreaks” in developed western nations is migrants. 100% the cause, no question. These “outbreaks” are entirely contained within their respective migrant communities, Jews in NY, Mexicans in the SW, pakis and Indians in the big cities and such.

If disease prevention is so priority that it must be government mandated, then immigration must be completely stopped as well. You can’t have both a disease free populace and constant migration.

The answer to the "why?" you ask is very easily found: The non-whites and white collaborators presently ruling over every single nation in the former Christendom desires to see whites erased even from memory. This practice is normally referred to as genocide, but even that word is now redefined to refer only to the blessed six quintillion. Furthermore, the ties between big-Pharma and the legislators that pass vax laws is criminal. Additionally, I am in 100% agreement the real problem is immigration, not percentage of vax acceptance. Finally, It should be noted that mandatory vaccines are only tied to access to publicly funded/regulated services (ie schooling/transit/travel). The mandatory vaccine legislators will use the spreading vaccine laws to apply greater control and regulation on homeschooling and all other child related activities including all organized sports, libraries, performance venues, hotel stays, mass travel/transit, higher education... etc, etc.

Mandatory vaccine laws are a tangential power grab for control of other areas of public life that voters would otherwise violently object too.

One day we may have the full truth of the matter from the VAERS. The data on adverse events is at least collected, even if it is suppressed.

The seroconversation rates - percent of patients who have effective immunity to the disease after vaccination - is also closely guarded info. In the case of mumps it may be under 60%.

It deserves real, honest study (we won't get it). Is the thimerisol dose neurotoxic in tiny infants? Is there immune dysregulation from the number of vaccines we're giving to patients (autoimmune disease stemming from heterologous immunity)? Most of these issues would be solved by a delayed and slower vaccination schedule, focusing on only worst diseases.

For the good guys - it's Hep B (not C) that they push at birth. Completely unnecessary btw.

For the pro-vaxxers, the autism question is far from settled.

The Feb-Mar measles outbreak in the Pacific NW (and many other places) was brought here from Ukraine by non-English speaking Chasidic Jews. By far the largest number of cases were in that community. Seems Chasids don't believe in vaccination either. But it's the fault of suburban White American moms that Jews visiting Ukraine got measles.

An interesting Q-like twitter feed called NSA Child Crimes popped up a few days ago, "". There seems to be something to it.

Yesterday was an AMA thread and there was some discussion on vaccines. They bumped it to its own thread.
"NSA Child Crimes @NSA_QIL 14h14 hours ago
More NSA Child Crimes Retweeted #GodWins

Guess who’s getting their own thread?

This Patriot!

#Qanon #QNSA #VaccinesWork?"

Their responses were:

"We’re going to try to proceed carefully here... as we know this is everyone’s favorite subject to be completely objective about...."

"The question has never been the value of what vaccines are “purported” to do.

The questions arise from specific critical data points and genuine concerns raised from contaminated vaccines."

"We’re not going to argue that it’s safe to take a six month old child in for a huge round of vaccinations because it isn’t

We’re also not going to advocate that you expose your children to preventable diseases out of fear.

Go slow and do your research"

They seem to be urging caution in general.

The Feb-Mar measles outbreak in the Pacific NW (and many other places) was brought here from Ukraine by non-English speaking Chasidic Jews.

Another interesting tidbit exposed by that outbreak - the Public schools have terrible record keeping. There were reports that a third of WA school kids were un-vaxxed, and several neighbors of ours got panicked emails from the local school district about their kids not being up to date on their vaxxes. Except they were, and the parents had copies of the records, which they swore they'd dutifully provided to the schools. So the school districts don't keep good records, and, hey, isn't there a thing called HIPPA? Doctors is know claim it wastes several hours of their time each week, but when it comes to vaxx records, don't let the law get in the way of a good panic.

You want evil? They are making commercials aimed at young girls, teens, that push HPV. They present parents as a retrograde, science-hating, ignorant barrier to keeping yourself safe. My daughter has asked me about getting an HPV. The only reason she thinks I might not be a completely ill-informed mouthbreather on this subject is that I was a tech at a research company. They aim the commercials at middle-early teen girls: the time when girls think parents are the worst, no matter what.

Then there's the ever so helpful pamphlets loaded off on Girl Scouts.

I don't think either the Amish or Christian Scientists vaccinate their kids. I don't have time to double check at the moment, but there's your comparison base if so.

DonReynolds, you're onto something Vox also noted which is the left/right alliance. 2 notes on that,

1. Public health was always a bougie, liberal concern mostly headed up by women in marketing it (see Sanger). It has little to do with sanitary methodology pioneered by Scots. Given healthcare is a finite resource any burdens on the service are unduly burdened by taxpayers, we are being taxed to put ourselves at risk with a low to negative ROI.

I'm not quite sure how to translate that into rhetoric your average liberal or leftist will get without going into a "but muh bootstraps" loop.

2. Invasion = scab labor force that undermines the negotiating power of unions.

I was thinking the same exact thing. They have made discussing it impossible because mentioning that human being can carry human diseases is somehow dehumanizing.
It is probably considered "hate speech" in Europe to mention the fact that all these immigrants are bringing disease and invasive species with them.
I can't wait until the South becomes loaded with Bot Flies and other pests not native to North America. No natural predators to kill and eat them and 10s of millions of human hosts.

Blogger Rtp April 29, 2019 3:40 PM

It's nice to see so many skeptics of this abomination.

But here is the thing.

No vaccine in history has ever worked.

Not one.

Doctors typically refuse to diagnose the condition if the patient is vaccinated. A self fulfilling prophecy. The diseases have been renamed not reduced. And the recent requirement for lab testing exacerbates this bias (because diagnosing smallpox or measles or polio requires more hoops to jump through today than before their respective vaccines).

But here is the other thing.

Diseases cannot spread. Shared yes. Spread no. This should be obvious because if disease could be spread visiting (let alone becoming) a doctor would be instantly fatal.

You get measles because of emotional trauma (separation from a loved one or feeling stuck to something you hate. You don't need to be in contact with anybody else.

And whilst you're all going to say that's crazy my assertion simply has to be correct because rashes are focused. Some even occur on corresponding parts of the body! No virus could do that and only the mind could possibly be responsible.

I agree with VD that the I word should be part of the debate and policies for many of the diseases that had be gone from the US that are slowly reclaiming a part in our lives. However, since our political discourse has become binary, the elite must follow the latest narrative and are not allowed to mention anything negative about immigration. If that affects the populations health, so be it—a necessary sacrifice for the future utopia.

I don’t want to continue the vaccine debate here, mainly because I disagree with some of what VD has written on the issue (a rare occurrence though). I would just note that medicine is not an exact science, and it has been captured by a funding bureaucracy that dictates what is held to be true. Public health takes those “currently allowed or known truths” and applies them to the entire population. The statist in control then ignore the cost of imposing those realities on others, regardless of the pain inflicted. Hence the law that the government will absorb the costs of the small % of vaccine bad reactions in order allow them to be given to the population at large—a way to socialize the costs of what is held to be necessary good. Whether or not it is actually a public good is a long and data intensive debate, which country vaccine. schedule, cost of the harm caused, etc. A debate with many estimations, many sides, and one that makes little difference has our rulers have spoken... THOU SHALL OBEY US!

What is apparent today is the typical statist policies are occurring-- that the working and law-abiding population has to follow their rules regardless of the effect, and those favored types, here immigrants, do not. Do not notice the elephant in the room.

@Ariadne, the state assumes your daughter is or will be a whore. HPV vaccine sold to prevent cervical cancer assumes she'll be taking lots and lots of dirty loads. HPV sold to prevent genital warts assumes similarly she will be loose in morals. The only way for HPV to be introduced to the cervix is if she's taking dirty loads. Doesn't make much sense to prohibit abstinence education does it?

Back when I was hard left in my late teens/very early 20s I took 3 of 4 rounds of the HPV vaccine at the at-risk-teen/young lady clinic. I stopped taking them because I heard rumors it affects fertility and the on-site obgyn couldn't answer my questions to my satisfaction. Don't let your daughter do that. I've been trying to conceive for 6 months now. Very annoying.

There is one right now.

Polio was once a regular fact of life in the US.
Now the vibrants of the world are bringing all this disease back.

“The majority of our agents get sick. Infectious disease is everywhere,” Mr. Cabrera said, including in the Border Patrol’s migrant processing center. “There’s always scabies in there. Usually we have chickenpox. We have tuberculosis in there. You name it, it’s probably been through that building. So it’s dangerous. It’s dangerous for our agents. It’s dangerous for the detainees that don’t have anything.”

This is just one of the many ways we are losing civilization.

Our experience in Japan is that vaccines are given less often and fewer antigens per inoculation. I have personally been told by a Japanese doctor to be careful of Western vaccines - not that the vaccines are necessarily bad, but the number given in a single dose. Particularly in Australia (where Japanese probably have more experience).

This study found some negative outcomes with some vaccinations:
Front Psychiatry. 2017; 8: 3.

A Chinese study found long-term health affects of having had the flu (not the vaccine, but the flu itself).

Taken together these studies suggest any aggressive immune response in children may affect development (brain or otherwise). This seems reasonable. The solution may be to have less immunizations and spaced out.

As an aside, there's also an increase in auto-immune and mental disorders White and Asian populations regardless, probably due to naturally occurring dysgenics. So, this is another factor we have to deal with.

Quarantined US Navy Ship Destroys “Herd Immunity” Myth

The David Knight Show

Why has a US Navy ship been quarantined at sea for months with a mumps outbreak when 100% of the sailors & marines have been vaccinated at least once? With politicians and BigPharma pushing mandatory vaccines, it’s an important lesson.

The computer ads for HPV show up on channels on computers that young women frequent. The ads do not show up on youtube for toddlers or for young men. I don't even know all the channels they show up on. It might even be on streaming TV shows. All I know is that my delightfully feather-headed young girl asked about HPV vax, and spouted information from commercials she had seen on her computer.

I had to sound reasonable, and say that the vax had been out less than 25 years, and that the first ten years of polio they'd managed to infect people with live polio virus. That we could go to the museum holding all the papers for this, if she liked: a local author had researched and published the book. Civic pride is all that keeps her from getting herself paralyzed or spayed with HPV vaccine.

I told her that test subjects are unbelievably healthy- they look like Logan's Run- and that regular people are not as physically fit as test subjects. It's true.

Sammibandit, I will pray for you. I had women praying for me, for our last child.

Sneaks eh? If your daughter doesn't like being "tracked" or you exec override her account, you can change the Google account to "opt out" of advertisement things. You won't see as much targeted ads.

It's good she's interested in her future and asking questions. I don't have kids so I don't know what to say to that though. But I know that girls age into adulthood and boys are inducted.

Owen talked the other day about teaching kids to say no. Girls will have to say no many times in life, the earlier they learn the better. Boys too of course but let's be honest, girls have to know how to say no regarding reproduction. I'm not aware at all if you do that, but now seems like a good time if any to teach it.

These vaccine companies are really creepy and they only get paid if you opt in. I were her I'd want to hear that my mom is paying attention and that barring other problems my body is developing fine without a reproductive vaccine. I might want to hear about female relatives pregnancies.

The HPV vaccine is not well tested. Reported side effects =/= longitudinal side effects. It's all a gamble. Besides, why play into the "viral disease is normal" trope? That's gross.

Blogger mike April 29, 2019 11:00 PM

I concur with your assessment, untruthful means untruthful, therefore untrustworthy and biased. Btw they don't even have to test vaccines in trials just assemle something and inject, why is that even allowed?

Blogger The War for the West April 30, 2019 6:54 AM

Agreed as far as your comment goes but there is another important phenomena at work. The concept of "herd immunity" is important for understanding this issue. Herd immunity refers to having a critical mass of inoculated people who cannot transmit the pathogen in question. Meaning that there just aren't enough people around to keep it alive so even if an infected person gets into a population there are not enough susceptible, non-immunized people to infect which is what keeps the pathogen alive.

We've achieved herd immunity in the West for measles, polio and other horrific diseases. But now with the Mommy-Blogger Anti-Vax movement, many children aren't getting immunized and as a result we are losing herd immunity. Worst thing about that? It puts infants at risk who are too young to be immunized. Infants count on herd immunity to ride on until they can be immunized themselves.

The anti-vax movement is alive and well in many rightwing denizens. I'd love to see rightwingers speak out more loudly on this issue.

So why exactly aren't you running an adblocker on your browsers?

> But now with the Mommy-Blogger Anti-Vax movement, many children aren't getting immunized and as a result we are losing herd immunity.

And what percentage is required to achieve this "herd immunity"? I've herd the phrase most of my adult life, but strangely never any specifics. Yes, I do realize it will vary somewhat with the disease, but surely we have some general figures.

Blogger Rtp April 30, 2019 9:09 AM

Nonsense war for the west. Most adults are unvaccinated and so herd immunity is and always has been a myth.

And it's logically impossible for any vaccine to work because vaccines are predicated on all infections being acute.

But viruses persist in our bodies. So immunity is not just wrong but a category error. This includes both vaccine derived and naturally derived immunity.

Blogger sammibandit April 30, 2019 9:42 AM

Herd immunity is irrelevant. So long as we have mass immigration and easy travel for those invaders to and from the host nation it doesn't matter how many viral loads Sally and Billy can take or that their mom doesn't want them penetrated with a sharp object by a stranger making sales quotas. Sally and Billy are protected against a subset of known strains. They're not protected against the third world.

Blogger Haus frau April 30, 2019 11:15 AM

@78 herd immunity has never existed. Vaccine immunity is not the same as natural immunity. Many, if not most, vaccine mediated antibidy responses wear off within a few years of vaccination. Many people do not respond to vaccination with antibody production. This means the vast of Americans have no vaccine induced immunity to these diseases. If you had bothered reading the posts in this thread instead of concern trolling with vaccine propaganda you would have found a lot of information dealing with the myth of herd immunity, including the fact that live, attenuated virus vaccines can cause and transmit the very infections they claim to prevent.

Just attended a lecture by our state`s epidemiologist. Measles was eliminated from the U.S. in 2000. Since then every case was "imported" from overseas. All of the worst multi-drug resistant pathogens are coming into our country by "travelers". I noticed that she never used the word "immigrant".
