Jordan Peterson humiliates himself

Like most of his fans at the Peterson-Zizek debate, The Guardian is unimpressed with the Canadian Charlatan:
Peterson’s opening remarks were disappointing even for his fans in the audience. They were a vague and not particularly informed (by his own admission) reading of The Communist Manifesto. His comments on one of the greatest feats of human rhetoric were full of expressions like “You have to give the devil his due” and “This is a weird one” and “Almost all ideas are wrong”.

I’ve been a professor, so I know what it’s like to wake up with a class scheduled and no lecture prepared. It felt like that. He wandered between the Paleolithic period and small business management, appearing to know as little about the former as the latter. Watching him, I was amazed that anyone had ever taken him seriously enough to hate him.

He said things like “Marx thought the proletariat was good and the bourgeoisie was evil”. At one point, he made a claim that human hierarchies are not determined by power because that would be too unstable a system, and a few in the crowd tittered. That snapped him back into his skill set: self-defense. “The people who laugh might do it that way,” he replied. By the end of his half-hour he had not mentioned the word happiness once.
I read part of the transcript. It was actually worse than The Guardian describes. As I noted in Jordanetics, Jordan Peterson knows nothing about Marxism despite the way in which he blathers on about "Marxist post-modernists". But at least he read The Communist Manifesto in preparation for the debate!

But that's a fitting epitaph for Jordan Peterson's career as a public pseudo-intellectual: "I was amazed that anyone had ever taken him seriously." His fifteen minutes are already ending because even his biggest fans are beginning to see through his act.

The depressing part is how Boomers still eat him up; they’re too dazzled by someone with the appearance of “standing up to the liberals” to realize that he has no substance, or what substance he has is not something that they should be wanting.

Since I read your stuff and watch your videos I can now recognize lies by Zizek too. Just read this interview how he tries to redefine patriotism and nation.

I'm assuming this is because it established entirely new metrics by which we measure the grandeur of the run-on-sentence.

Zizek *played him* the entire him. That's what he does. He basically Trolled the living daylights out of him and made him trip, stumble and fall. Slavoj's whole strategy was 4 steps:

1) Present himself as amiable to the Lobster Audience.
2) Feign Common Ground with the Gamma Charlatan.
3) Note that there is a lot more Nuance than meets the eye.
4) Advertise (using 1-3) that "the issues are complex and there is a lot of hidden agreement everywhere"

He played the Gamma Charlatan like a Cello. The latter's Pre-emptive mirroring Shtick Failed horribly because it got totally reflected back onto him. And so kind of like the Cider thing with Toe Rogan (where the Gamma Charlatan was trying to do cold reads a la listening intently), what ended up happening was that he just blurted out a lot of meaningless Baffle-Garble when presented with Zizek's strategems.

Peterson is the type of guy who can bullshit his way to a "B minus" in a test, after just reading the summary in the back cover of a book.
Any deeper examination, however, will quickly reveal he hasn't actually read the book at all.

“Were disappointing even for his fans.” That they were “vague and not particularly informed” does not directly translate into disappointment of the fans, given the Marche self-interjection of “been a professor,” “[communist manifesto] one of the greatest feats of human rhetoric,” and that Petersons fans don’t tend to be concerned about vagary or not being particularly informed, almost an unseemly prerequisite to his fandom. Nice to see the limits of his appeal though. Maybe a hat being shown to him, along with a motion to the door. Priceless trendline.

Blogger xevious2030 April 22, 2019 10:34 AM

@15 (VD) How interesting. It seemed that Ben had been moved toward an amount of vilification and toward deplatforming. Was that just trumped up street creds, something else, or simply a misreading? And has the shining of the actual light on "Judeo-Christian" risen to the level of necessitating a pre-emptive shoring up, is this simply a pro Ben move, or both? At a bit of a loss.

Blogger Garuna April 22, 2019 10:43 AM

Because that trendline has consequences, it is therefore false. Thus, that trendline merely proves Peterson's growing influence.

It is reasonable to have doubts about the precise meaning of the trendline, but not all "consequences" are positive. Peterson doesn't live in a vacuum and other trendlines such as "Kavanaugh" and "Covington Catholic kids" also have consequences on the zeitgeist and on him. And the trendline for gradual decline looks exactly the same as what we see.

Ultimately, I don't see any reason to give Peterson the benefit of the doubt. I travel frequently all over the world and get a better sense of the zeitgeist than most people or even polls. If you're in my situation and socially active, the disillusionment among Peterson fans is palpable.

He fucked up big time with his Kavanaugh tweet. He broke the blind trust of his main demographic -- young white men who feel under attack by SJWs. Before fucking it all up, he was riding the wave of their denial by feeding them the "individualism" comfort food. But now that food tastes bitter and Peterson is finished.

With each new Kavanaugh or Covington Catholic kids type episode, young white guys are starting to accept reality.

Globos are really scraping the bottom of the barrel here. At least Peterson has real cultists. Nobody loves Ben Shapiro. Furthermore, he crumbles under the slightest of pressure. Especially when pressed on his hypocrisies with Israel. Worst of all, he can't even influence his own audience, no matter how hard he tries. He's in the same situation as Ethan Van Sciver where he's "riding a tiger" so to speak. As long as he's sufficiently kissing MAGA's ass, he does fine. But whenever he tries to influence people against MAGA, he gets beaten back into place by his own audience. From the past two years, the pattern is set in stone, he can only flourish as long he's shilling for MAGA. It's just sad.

When he eventually tries to punch above his intellectual weight, he'll bomb harder than Peterson is bombing right now. Hopefully he'll take the "Judeo-Christian" meme down with himself. Why can't these gammas just be happy with their little niche where they exclusively fight schoolchildren?

Shapiro is just so repulsive. He has a whiny voice and he looks like such a nerd and is shorter than Rogan! The guy has a face for radio and a voice for writing. I don't think he has much of a grass-roots audience. There are people who upload videos of his confrontations with college students, but I think they work for his billionaire backer. YT pushes them too.
I know they were pushing him on Fox News, but I'm not sure if they still are. With Tucker down to like 1 sponsor, it's hard to imagine they will keep him around, though Tucker probably helps Hannity. Tucker is the only Fox News host actually worth watching.

Blogger KG April 22, 2019 11:17 AM

Shapiro hasn’t been deplatformed from any media, digital or otherwise. Some colleges cancelled his speaking events. They also cancelled Peterson’s speaking events, so if you accept that Peterson is approved or controlled opposition, then logically speaking events being cancelled is not evidence that a political figure is not approved opposition.

Milo, exactly like Shapiro, was propped up in media with cancelled speaking events at colleges. This was after he had been deplatformed from twitter, so they were silencing him before they had a means of taking him down. Evidence that he was viewed as a threat, and therefore a legitimate actor rather than a fraud like Shapiro. Once they found a means, they propped Milo up into the noose of media hype, then kicked the stool out from under him.

The fact that they haven’t made any deplatform attempts on Shapiro before propping him up via media hyped speaking cancellations (its always the same game) means to me that he’s controlled rather than approved. That’s not to say that he’s fed lines, but that he knows how far he’s allowed to go and prefers the cache to the truth, making him an illegitimate actor. He’s got his head in the media noose, and he’s standing on what must be a very tall stool. Infer what you will about someone that appears to enjoy being on a leash.

I wonder if he knew from the outset that he wouldn't be able to fake being a public intellectual for very long, and intentionally decided to sell out as early as possible. He monetized his success very quickly, and if I were in his position, I wouldn't care about fading back into obscurity at this point. Dude's got it made.

Of course, knowing Peterson, the fame and approval probably matters more than the money ever did. A good charlatan would take this opportunity to lay low and develop a new con; he'll probably just keep beating this dead horse forever, or until the SJWs and legacy media lose interest.

Blogger PolitiCrump April 22, 2019 12:09 PM

Shapiro is a vastly greater threat than Peterson. For all his talk about individualism, freedom and anti-communism, Peterson is an ivory tower atheist who would never have found universal appeal on the right and people are waking up to his breathtaking incoherence.

Shapiro, however, has successfully fooled many in the right with his Judeo-Christ nonsense and unlike Peterson, he can squirm his way through a debate. Plus he's younger, which means he'll be able to stay relevant much longer than Peterson.

Saw in Haaretz or some such that they have an issue with his pet term Judeo-Christian, because it denies the antisemitism intrinsic to Christianity. @Nate

They [the Marxists] maintain that only a dictatorship—their dictatorship, of course—can create the will of the people, while our answer to this is: No dictatorship can have any other aim but that of self-perpetuation, and it can beget only slavery in the people tolerating it; freedom can be created only by freedom, that is, by a universal rebellion on the part of the people and free organization of the toiling masses from the bottom up.

I was an avid viewer/listener until the Zoe Tur (the tranny dude) incident where Shapiro shit himself when physically confronted, then had to jewsplain his way around his cowardice afterward. He was less masculine than a man that pumps estrogen into his veins regularly and dresses like a female. His attempts at humor never land because you know he’s unwilling to tolerate any jokes at his own expense, just watch how uncomfortable he looks on LwC. He’s not capable of leadership, but he is undoubtedly capable of saying what his overlords require of him in return for media presence.

Peterson did his job. His job was to become a thought leader of the right, and develop a wide following of gullible right wingers.

Now his job is to publicly humiliate himself, and in doing so, humiliate his followers and invalidate their right wing notions.

He isn’t and never was a Christian, and as such does not seek truth. So in his world view, though he may have sold off his own reputation and humiliated himself, he still got paid. And according to Peterson truth is what gets the best results right?

Two liberal-internalist mouthpieces for universal social democracy/democratic socialism.

I have to relisten, but I think Owen was just saying he doesn't see a long term conspiracy happening. Western Patricians and Court Jewry clearly on record gradually working away at forging world order/world brotherhood/world peace well before the end of the Napoleonic Wars, but post-1815 is a good place to start if you're sceptical of long term, centuries-level, planning. Ebbs and flows as foxes and lions fight but there's been steady forging of the 'international mind' necessary for the new third-way Pax Romana. World Order via initial regional Orders (EU). Fabian-like wolves dressed in Christian-lite clothing for much of the 19th century, though many sincere. Peace, peace, peace! Pacifism, Quakerism enforced "International Peace". Cos John Lennon wants it. Michael and Janet want it. Japanese girls want it everytime their photos are taken. The Good (what we largely have now: "constitutional" Govts/parliamentary welfare systems), The Bad (absolutist monarchies, militarists), The Ugly (October 1917 *Feb/March 1917 was more in tune, Finland too*). Global commerce requires international arbitration, international courts, international enforcement (all in motion prior to world wars despite post-war rhetoric and shrieking of Atomic Scientists: "One World now or we die!"). Freedom of the seas (enforcer needed). Common standards. Future plans for free migration (but forge that 'international mind' first). Interfaith dialogue -> secular values universal to all; though ultimately Western, imperial. Shhh. [attack Christians, attack whitey, prove it's not Western Empire] Everywhere from the Lodges to Boy Scouts, movies to music, ideal of World Brotherhood has been sold to the masses. Top down. Literally, and gradually, for centuries.

People conspired.

(Or maybe the Devil's in the details, in more ways than one.)

A good example of how no amount of dialectic will administer the needed shock to crack open the religious wall of lies believed by cucks - of whom the Boomers are the living cliche.

Now if you dad is really ready to start opening his eyes, he should read this interesting observation about the reaction of (((certain folks))) to the purpose-driven "accident" at Notre Dame. There have been plenty of comments about the cheering of Musloids, but scarcely a word about the reaction of those who stand to benefit most from accelerating a war between Muslims and Christians (also the purpose of the Christchurch shooter). He should also consider both the author, one Israel Shamir and the guy (Ron Unz) who runs the site where this and quite a bit more unusual items are posted. Unz - born into the tribe - is an interesting example of one never payed much attention to his native religion growing up - just went through the motions and thought it was just a funny old religion. Thoroughly secular in other words. Only later on did he stumble onto some rather appalling doctrines practiced there. ADL and the rest no doubt have labeled both Unz and Shamir as "self-hating Jews" or even "white supremacists". Their crime is not going along with the Satanist teachings found in the Talmud.

I totally understand that his chaotic way of formulating thoughts with mamy meaningless sentences is off putting. I also agree that he's in it for himself and most of his rules and speaches are pure garbage. Having said that, i like his aidea of how happiness is formed and that Marx assumed without any proof that the proles are simply better than bourgeoisie. Zizeks idea that China is a socialist country is laughable not to mention Marxist country. China today is closest to fascism as it should be noted some claim the final stage of communism is fascism. Also, I think he did a gamma move at the beginning weaseling out of the debate and recasting it with discussion. I guess he knew Marxism cant be defended as economic/political policy and just tried to concentrate on hapiness. But China is a joke of a happy country also, unless he believes in social credit scores to always achieve 200% of norm.

More proof that JP is a "Judas steer" who is only on the path to lead you to a cattle car.

He is not "On the path" as a truth seeker, he is there to make you think we have to choose between two false choices Socialism VS Capitalism.

If your two alternatives are Socialism VS Capitalism you can scare everyone away from "The rich getting richer" crushing you and the pile of bodies from the Stalin-cost. They can control you depending on which you are more afraid of. And in the mean time they can get you into wars.

I used to think that people just didn't know about the alternatives to the Usury collectivist /Socialist 1%'ers, but then after awhile I noticed that every time anyone championed an alternative they got shut down and froze out. Often just not getting funding and a place to speak means you cannot get your ideas out past the number of people you can speak to on the street. GK Chesterten and Hillaire Belloc both got called Names to shut them down.

And the Germans get really really bad press, when in fact before WWI they had stopped all the immigration out of Germany by building an economic powerhouse with an economic model that was neither Socialist nor Capitalist, but valued labor.

KG,
The Boomers did not go to war in the mid-East only to realize things they were told about the whole thing from start to finish were lies.

But by now you have to be pretty stupid to not get the pattern of who we go to war with and why and how it is disproportionately the nations that went to war with Israel that we either invade or topple and yet we have no real reason to be there and yet there we are invading or toppling governments and getting Christians there killed in very large numbers while our military and Israel do nothing to stop that strange killing of Christians even though we (McCain,Clinton,Obama) were arming the terrorists who are doing the slaughtering of Christians.

The kids who went over there and were preached to about how Muslims can become just like us with a little freedom and a little voting, those boys came back using racial slurs for the first time in their lives. The Muslim Ban became very popular and nobody is going to back down on that, and the folks who keep pushing on that are just pushing minds open about there being other groups that are also not the best to us.

stevo "I'd like to hear more about the anti-christianity inherent in Judaism"

Read Eusebius Early Church history which shows all the same behavior you see in the New Testament, and then you can read about how Spain was invaded and who fought alongside the invaders and opened the gates of the cities,

William Thomas Walsh has several great books as does Hillaire Belloc and E. Micheal Jones has plenty of material up on YouTube.

I came across this thread on the debate: http://boards.4channel.org/sci/thread/10575332
The people who dislike Zizek more are the only ones who aren't flat-out insulting Peterson. The fancy suit didn't even help, buddy!

Of course, that's what Satan worshipers would say.

@23 " Tucker probably helps Hannity. Tucker is the only Fox News host actually worth watching."

Last evening my neighbor was trying to convince me that the news on Fox was still legit. Oh dear.
Poor dear! I keep dropping nuggets of what's really going on -- and that you cannot get that on ANY MSM -- and he's beginning to get the picture.

Save your neighbors and friends, build a tribe -- ti WILL be needed!

@26 "But I think Charlie Kirk is the most insidious."

Is he 'managed' or just naive/stupid? I look askance because he and the grifter Candace seem to be in cahoots a LOT of the time/events... Double points for pushing miscegenation, at the least! {gag}

I thought victors wrote history.

But so many instances, we have been duped about European history to think we are the bad guys who kill, maim, and erradicate for no reason but our own sadistic pleasure.

If they are lying about Vlad, the crusades, and the inquisition, what else have they lied about? What else in our history is shrouded from us so that we look like the perpetual bad guys for all time?

What happens to your civilization when you don't actually know your own history?

Peterson is an illiterate. I actually doubt he reads books. For instance, if you read Marx's diaries, he actually hated the actual proles (the working class) and thought they were subhuman filth. He actually defined the proles as the middle class. I have no doubt that Peterson is a total intellectual fraud. Does he even have peer reviewed papers published?
