The battle for France continues

Yellow vest demonstrators have again clashed with riot police in the French city of Toulouse as President Emmanuel Macron prepared a series of policy announcements aimed at quelling 22 consecutive weekends of anti-government protests.

The southern city resembled a war zone today as police fired teargas and arrested several people after hundreds of demonstrators started throwing objects, burning rubbish bins and trying to enter areas where protests have been banned.

Around 2,000 protesters had gathered on the Allee Jean Jaures - a wide avenue in the city centre - and on nearby side streets.

What does Macron receive for his obstinance? Is it just class loyalty over nation, or is the reward more concrete than that? Or does he just not grasp that this is a different group of people than the routine French protesters, with different motivations, experiences, and character?

The French as usual are ahead of the curve. How long till we get our own chance?

Considering the way Brexit is going, the Brits should be ashamed that it is their galllic brothers who are doing this.

Why dont the English riot when their votes are simply cancelled?

Have you see this commercial from CBS? https://twitter.com/thegoodfight/status/1116815576347713537.

This is a level of mainstream escalation even I'm shocked by. 2033 was indeed probably optimistic.

Seeing these updates on the Yellow Vests is always a highlight. My wife has a dual citizenship with France and it makes her swell with pride to see them "bucking the coward reputation we've been stuck with"

VD or anyone else knowledgable what do you think of the significance of Toulouse in relation to the Yellow Vests there now? Is there something about the people or geography that relate to it hosting so much significant conflict?

If anyone is curious for context I did a perusal of Toulouse and counted from its inception by Charlemagne in 778 as a bulwark against mohommadean hoards (1),

2 - 4. First siege of Toulouse in 1211 during the Abegensian Crusade. 2 more to follow near as I can count.

5. Bernard Gui, Grand Inquisitor of Toulouse, 1306 to 1323.

6. The Huguenot riots in 1562.

7. Communist uprising in 1968.

This brings us to 8. I'm probably missing some famous duels and other events.

Well they've got nothing to lose, apparently.

When a majority FINALLY is suffering so horribly that risking life and limb by takinng to the streets and "fighting the power" no longer induces paralyzing fear.

We here are a very, VERY long way from that. Heck, if the majority in my wife's native Venezuela can't be induced to do that, even with the unimaginable agonies they're enduring now, there's no way in hell that obese, pampered, bread and circuses-addicted Americans will do it. As for the French, they've pretty much always had revolution in their blood. Here, it was a one-and-done thing.

Remind the Americans that you don't ask permission from a tyrant to revolt against him.

First take into account that Tolosa de Llengadoc isn't French but the capital of Occita. many people still speak occita and have a different world view.
Don't forget that the Catar/Albeginsian heresy allows the French to make inroads there and never left.
Like the Bretons the Occitans resent the heavy handed centralism and the denigration of their language and culture.

Disagree a little. The latin american indian native genetic people do not rebel. On the other hand, europens do rebel when things go wrong

Vox indicated in the clowns video, that when he moved, he thought the US was in for some big trouble. Trump has been elected. Vox has kept his trouble date (aside from he's very recent encounter, considering shortening the date, tongue in cheek or not). He has also indicated no one is fighting. Two inferences can be made. One is that he did not move to a place of higher expected peril, and two, he is not going to be on the ground with anyone if/when the trouble starts. No value associated with these inferences, I am not presenting them as good or bad.

With that said, what is the danger of the yellow vests to Macron? The danger they pose is almost entirely based on what he does with them. And the people giving him orders seem keen enough not to make it real. Just as the people whispering in ears seem keen enough not to make it real. The same in the UK with Brexit. I would present as in the same way as the indication by Vox that no one in the US is really fighting, and the time of trouble is, save his recent experience, still over a decade away, nine years after a maximum Trump, with Trump now being here.

The natural inference from this is, for the outcome to differ significantly, would require either a difference in approach by people involved at the bottom, to include those simply reading blogs and their degrees of seporation with influence, or a course change initiated from within the top. One thing that needs to be understood though is that the sort of people manipulating the bad, they have been successful and influential in climates of nationalism. They manipulate systems of organization. That's their briar patch. You change one system for another, they get thrown in, they howl and cry, and then they thrive. It is guidance by the Holy Spirit, within Christendom, where they are not at home. Where Wisdom speaks.
