AG Barr will watch the watchers

We finally have an answer to that age-old philosophical question: William Barr.
President Donald Trump on Thursday granted Attorney General William Barr new powers to review and potentially release classified information related to the origins of the Russia investigation, a move aimed at accelerating Barr’s inquiry into whether U.S. officials improperly surveilled Trump’s 2016 campaign.

Trump directed the intelligence community to “quickly and fully cooperate” with Barr’s probe. The directive marked an escalation in Trump’s efforts to “investigate the investigators,” as he continues to try to undermine the findings of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe amid mounting Democratic calls for impeachment proceedings.

Press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement that Trump is delegating to Barr the “full and complete authority” to declassify documents relating to the probe, which would ease his efforts to review the sensitive intelligence underpinnings of the investigation. Such an action could create fresh tensions within the FBI and other intelligence agencies, which have historically resisted such demands.
To watch the watchers and investigate the investigators. Next, launch The Storm.

"as he continues to try to undermine the findings of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe amid mounting Democratic calls for impeachment proceedings"

There can be no forgiveness for the amount of lies and misdirection generated by the media whores on behalf of their criminal overlords. Their trump card (heh) is to condition normies into triggering a violent uprising to unseat Evil Drumpf, should all else fail. And as all else is failing, the madness of the cornered thugs intensifies. While there is hope that it will fail it still is poison, continuously injected in the heart of the weakest among us, and it is infuriating.

Sorcerers just gotta sorc, don't they? Incompetently. Why would he undermine a finding of "innocent on all charges"?
Also, their use of "special counsel" as an honorific is funnier if you say "SPERSHERL" in your best/worst special-needs voice.

What utter bullshit. If one were to read that without knowledge that the Mueller report exonerated Trump of any collusion with Russia, one would think that the Mueller report did the exact opposite and that Trump is desperately trying to forestall a legitimate impeachment by getting the conclusion of the report reversed. In fact, that is the exact opposite of what's happening and the left and deep state are in the crosshairs.

What's that third law I proposed here? Oh yeah, SJW'S always project. A similar law clearly applies to the deep state. For that matter, laws 1 and 2 apply to the deep state as well. This makes me wonder about the overlap in the membership between deep state and sjw's or at least the overlap in their psychological profiles.

I think it demonstrates a problem with the TruCons. They keep wanting a fair game where victory is acknowledged by both parties. Au contraire. He is energized by it. I think in every instance of his life -- except when his real estate empire was on the verge of imploding -- he's having the time of his life. Tons of money, huge fame, beautiful women, exceptional children, and now the possibility to go down in history as one of the great men, or if not, as one of the most consequential men.

Coming off the Age of the Mass Market, there's a decided tendency to believe that holding the Muddy Middle together (via MSM brainwashing) will bring triumph.

This is inscrutable, given that history's inflection points are delivered by "minority leavening," groups/ideologies that hold nowhere near a plurality of the populace.

It doesn't matter at all if ABCNNBCBS et.al. hold the minds of surviving Silents/Boomers and assorted Leftists. Like a clown who jumped in front of the marching band and thinks he's directing the parade route (so he doubles-down on waving his baton), there's no grasp that the marching band's leading edge IS. NOT. FOLLOWING.

Rulers (ruling paradigms, inertia, etc.) don't lead, they are put in their positions by the march of the band, and when the route changes, the band changes the rulers. People have got it all backwards, and have done so forever.

All the conditions are present for a significant change in trend. All but one, that is: a clear shift in social mood. But waves have leading and trailing edges, with the mass in the middle. The march toward "togetherness" (openness, trust, altruism) appears to have peaked already. The front of the band is shifting to a new parade route.

But the clowns think they'll get everyone "back on course" by waving their batons like maniacs. Codevilla was incisive in his noting that over half of Americans lack electoral representation, and have been dragged into a place they NEVER DESIRED. We've tasted the notion of getting back to a more desirable track.

The harder the Old Guard attempts to maintain their "market-for-tyranny" (where Israel, China, Multi-National Corps and the super-rich buy legislators and judges freely), the more they insure the result will be dictatorship.

Blogger Mystic On Main May 24, 2019 10:19 AM

If anything of substance comes from Barr's effort it will be gravy. The problem is that no one seems to be worried about this. The origin of the investigation actually goes back to a GOP supporter who began the dossier in an effort to defeat trump in the primaries, then abandoned the effort once he was nominated. Strock will get another slap on the wrist and the FBI may be slapped a bit for not appropriately footnoting their FISA applications. But this is already known.

The problem is that it doesn't seem Trump is willing to make grand efforts to go after the swamp, his enemies or anyone else that is working to block his work. Whether he's a coward or has been cowed by being in office, he's gonna need to do more that just allow an investigation into things we already know about.

Blogger Damelon Brinn May 24, 2019 10:29 AM

I think the establishment expected to have a second special prosecutor appointed to investigate the FISA crimes and coup attempt, which would give them a couple more years while they tried to suborn that team. But you only need a special prosecutor when it's the president or the AG himself being investigated. Since that's not the case here and Barr didn't direct the previous stages of it, he's free to go right ahead and do his job.

Pelosi claims that 'villainous' Trump wants to be impeached.

The Dems backed themselves into a corner. They spent two years deluding their base with promises that they had Trump dead to rights, and turned the Mueller report into a mystery box that contained the solution to all their problems. But the box contains nothing at best, and evidence of their own crimes at worst. So they can't afford to open it, and would be much better off keeping it closed and using it to bait their voters to the polls in 2020. Note how they've done nothing substantive to get Mueller to testify, only talked about it. The last thing they want to do is bring any of this to a conclusion or bring any more of it into the light, which impeachment would do.

And that's what Trump challenged them to do in the Oval Office when he told Dumb and Dumber to finish their investigations if they want to work with him. If they want to keep that mystery box closed for another year and a half while insisting in the media they're trying to open it, they won't be able to get anything else done, and they won't be able to stop Barr's investigations either. That's a long time to keep insisting you're trying to get the bad guy while shooting blanks at him.

Your claim that the origin goes back to a GOP supporter is repeated everywhere. Who was that GOP supporter?

Blogger SemiSpook37 May 24, 2019 10:32 AM

Raab was the Brexit secretary, and resigned only 5 months into the job, based on the fact that May wasn't budging from the (4 times) rejected withdrawal agreement she was pushing. Johnson's a bit of a wild card, but he was the previous Foreign Minister, and hit his breaking point last summer; plus, he is rather friendly with the God-Emperor.

there's a decided tendency to believe that holding the Muddy Middle together (via MSM brainwashing) will bring triumph.

Razorfist recently made a good point that the media's entire message now is: just give in, give us what we want, and we'll let you have 'normal' back. They're trying to appeal to that middle plus the respectable right by throwing drama at them 24/7 and then saying, "Aren't you sick of this? Don't you just want it to go back to normal? Maybe you weren't happy with everything before, but it had to be better than this constant drama and stress."

That message probably does appeal to a lot of people. It worked when the Starr investigation went on for four years and just kept opening up one more scandal after another. People got sick of it, with the help of the media turning Lewinsky into a 24/7 story. In this case, though, they're having to generate the drama themselves and claim it's Trump's fault, which is a bigger lie to sell.

The problem is that it doesn't seem Trump is willing to make grand efforts

The problem is that the goalposts keep moving and what would have seemed like a grand effort two years ago is now framed as doing nothing. We've gone from "crazy Trump says he was wiretapped" to "Did Obama order the illegal wiretapping?" and people still claim nothing's happening. Tough crowd, I guess.

I continue to see Trump vs The Swamp as an internal struggle in the ruling class.

I think Trump is very willing to jail enough of the political class to bring the rest to heel. He may be willing to end political class dynasties, like the Clinton and Pelosi and McStain and Bush dynasties.

Its disinformation.

Fusion GPS was hired by the Washington Free Beacon[major contributor RINO Paul (((Singer))-hedge fund billionaire] to dig up dirt on many candidates, not just Trump. When it became apparent Trump would get the nomination, they cut Fusion GPS loose. The DNC then hired Fusion GPS and that is when the dossier in question was produced.

The Free Beacon’s editor, Matthew Continetti, and its chairman, Michael Goldfarb, said in a statement that the website was not involved in the dossier.
“All of the work that Fusion GPS provided to The Free Beacon was based on public sources, and none of the work product that The Free Beacon received appears in the Steele dossier,” they said. “The Free Beacon had no knowledge of or connection to the Steele dossier, did not pay for the dossier, and never had contact with, knowledge of, or provided payment for any work performed by Christopher Steele.”

This was never a serious initiative by trump, but rather very serious and smart campaign rhetoric. And it worked. Trump understands better than anyone the power of visceral messaging that grabs attention of the media and citizens.

But he's really done nothing to "drain the swamp". The Administration is and always was filled with swamp creatures. The federal machine is so over arching and so indebted to campaign funding it's not possible to drain anything. Interestingly, the only way to dismantle the machine is to end private funding of the general election and go to a public funding model where Hollywood, Wall Street, etc no longer have the power to determine which campaign goes forward.

Taking a sun break from a big mulching job. Like Deep State, the weeds ran wild and were choking everything; they also have no depth, so they can get sliced and pulled up in big chunks. Some plants were worth saving, so it's pull, spread slow release herbicide, and mulch heavy. The other side of the coin was to till it all under and restart. That's a classic tactic used by people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Whenever things are not going as they want, cause drama and then turn it around as a claim that if you'd just give in then the badness would go away. You want it to go away don't you? No right thinking person wants this, so if you don't give in to this obvious and only solution presented then it shows you are the cause! A kafkatrap wrapped up with gaslighting.

The tactic tends to be very effective over time, as people get tired of the constant issues, and reality gets warped. Every time you don't do what the NPD person wants, drama happens! The brain confuses cause and effect, and starts to think it is your own fault.

I hate those types.

The best way to deal with it is to be firmly grounded in reality, so you don't get confused, ignore what they want and do things your way. Cut them out of your life as they are not fixable.

Every real/non-fake American I know is against that sort of mass voter-fraud, even the Democrats, granted there are less and less non-fake Americans in the Democrat party as that party goes more and more insane, to the point that such action would be a no-lose scenario for a huge portion of the population.

While it would cause a lot of shrieking and outrage, prosecuting Hillary would have been appropriate, carrying out Justice, administering the law, and keeping that campaign promise of "Lock Her Up!".

What about that whole thing with the foreigner doing all Congress's IT work? IIRC, it was "Anwan" or something like it. — The guy was apparently put there by one of the big-shots in Congress, might have been Pelosi.

What about Feinstein's multiple-decades Chinese spy?

There's a LOT of swamp-stuff that we know about that could be used to get rid of prominent swamp-characters in that "grandiose manner"… so why is nothing happening here? It's a valid complaint, and I would venture the thing you call "moving goalposts" isn't moving them so much as people beyond frustrated that these sorts are never held to account.

I believe that when President Trump can act; he will act.

So you might consider, that what seems obvious to some of you, looks very different from inside the Oval Office.

What can we do to help him?

Continues to undermine the findings of the Mueller report, surely. Might as well say: "Amidst Trump's efforts to downplay Stormy Daniels' allegations..."

My concern is that the opposition will abandon all-out buffoonery and try to settle back into normal politics with a president they ignore, and that the Stupid Party will let them.

I concur. If you lose frame control even for a moment, a narcissist can suck you into their unreality bubble. You can't win their games, because they remake the rules and even the playing field at their whim.

Save your sanity. Don't play.

Remember when they tried to turn a dead Russian in a park into a causus belli against Russia? Such a comically over-the-top reaction, I would love to know the truth. It's below Mandalay Bay and even Seth Rich, but it's on the list.

"as he continues to try to undermine the findings of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe"

Of course, this is nonsense. Trump has been under Mueller's microscope, with the full support of the Obama Deep State, for over two years and came up with no proof or evidence of collusion with Russia nor was there any for the idea that Russia intervened in US elections in 2016. None. Take a deep breath and tell us why Trump would want to "undermine" the investigation that found no proof of wrongdoing????

The attorney general is investigating the footsteps that led to the Mueller investigation and Trump gave him full authority to make public any facts that he may find. Since when is disclosure a bad thing? Answer: When it may lead to finger-pointing in the wrong direction.

It seems the Democrats are not fond of transparency after all, nor do they care for objective investigations, nor do they like the idea of their friends in the Deep State being put under the same microscope, because THAT is where the illegal behavior will be found.

AG=Appointed by God, God has a plan for every single person: Barr might just be able to oust mustache wartoy creep from the POTUS's circle.

Bolton never went to war and never went into business who is he, a foxnews lobby boy appointed to such a job, that wicked man, wanting to spill more blood.

The Good Lord was (is) merciful with water not with fire or storms.

The youth know war so that they can desire, pray and create peace for the women and children. The men know danger is near.

71, 72 excellent points, great thread.

It was a few people from the FBI, swamp, deep state to McCain over some silly lie over a bed in Russia, abject murky strange weird left unable, unable to accept in 2016 America rejected them, the RNC and DNC for POTUS Trump. Meanwhile we will never really know what the CIA, FBI stopped; death threats, nail bombs, I dont know but Somalia with hammers in MN are running around trying to kill people. Only an insane death wish country allows this, stop the immigration damn it.

I just dont want to go to war.

Things are in flux with trade and China right now. America let the nationalist be killed in China years ago, didn't care, traded and didn't care, so what, tariffs 2019, big deal.

I know that most locals whom vote democrat might not think this but DC dems or these people in office whom hate the right, POTUS, all that, more keenly they hate Russia. Why: Putin turned the country back to the Orthodox Christian Christ Faith, their sin is wanting to go to God.

The hard left is so toxic, its like throwing holy water around they recoil, lie, create havoc.

AOC, Pelosi, another guy Nadler like fainting from exposure, these are not well people. The vegan life which will kill you, bereft of nutrients. You need nice healthy meats, telling people the world will end in ten years is all lies, all over failed flawed AGW carbon credit retard scam creates all this boomer nonsense about AGW, overpopulation, promotes nihilism, to atheism or the meds but these people are not well. Only sick morons go live getting their hair cut or chopping veggies not knowing what a garbage disposal is to human composting in current events.

And can you imagine what Russia thought of HRC reaching out to them over American media, America is not only rightfully called too stressful but too damn nuts.

We finally have a guy, POTUS that is with it: I'm praying for this future and everyone. Times are dark but the light breaks thru, life is precious, truth is everything and the media is ramping up more crazy town in America all because its summertime. Always over something, debt theater in 2011, 2012, past is the past.

Give AG Barr and POTUS a chance. HRC and these clowns running are farces.
