Corporates abandon Facebook

Arkhaven was not the first company to reject Facebook and Instagram and it will not be the last:
Popular fitness brand CrossFit has deleted its Facebook and Instagram accounts with a combined following of about 6 million, saying the platforms betrayed users' trust after they removed a popular nutrition-oriented user group.

"Facebook is acting in the service of food and beverage industry interests by deleting the accounts of communities that have identified the corrupted nutritional science responsible for unchecked global chronic disease," CrossFit said in a statement posted on Wednesday, referring to the Banting7DayMealPlan group that Facebook mysteriously deleted – only to reinstate it without an explanation. The group's 1.65 million users shared their experiences and information about low-carb high-fat diets.
Once a supposedly neutral social media platform demonstrates that it is in the thought-policing business, you should not utilize it any longer. The more corporates abandon Facebook, the more its rivals will see the advantage in political and ideological neutrality.

Good for Crossfit, Inc. Hopefully, other companies under SJW attack will follow suit (Chick FIL A, arms and ammo companies, Hobby Lobby, etc.).

Always loved hating crossfit, but kudos.

I wish more people had the biology background to understand the massive, concerted effort to suppress useful health information online.

I'm on for the lawsuits. My AdSense settlement check came yesterday.

companies should trim the fat in general regarding social media. Sure, buy some digital ad space here and there, but having a page and making consistent posts is never going to increase profits and expand an audience. Logically, they would have had to already know your brand and product for them to seek it on socials and like/follow it. I know from first hand experience with a company falling for the Facebook scheme, likes do not equal sales.

We had also had a major issue with Facebook selling our social and sales data to competitors.

Part of the problem is a decent number of posters will have a little bit of accurate information, but a lot of crap besides.

I wonder if Facebook tracks companies that don't open accounts with them the same way they track people who don't have accounts with them?

They do censor groups who give medical advice or make medical claims. It's that grey area of liability, between utility and editorial control.

I'd think it would be amusing to see someone sue Facebook for bad medical advice.

Crossfit was one 'gym' that never agreed with me.

Happy news though.

the silence she is deafening. ot, and yet...

I gave crossfit two tries and went elsewhere its a certain kind of environment that wasn't focused enough too much talk, not enough workout.

ISP's and banks in conjunction with bigsocial will have a problem on their hands as other corps leave bigsocial to return to the old model: if a company builds a gym, business etc., locals are drawn.

Sure they want to reach beyond their community. But as the world changes less for the globo towards the local (wishful thinking) might they notice a expanding pinch to their profits or those whom use or want to bank or appear on those platforms.

(As an aside I still cant accept what was done to Remington, Cerberus didn't care and tossed them to loving people in wall st.)

@3 What was that all about, please? What had Adsense done to you?

I doubt neutrality is workable any more. What I hope for is servers who push their own particular ideology slant. Mainly because I think it is workable.

I'm just shocked that anyone would suggest they censor low carb high fat diets. We're clearly meant to subsist almost entirely on food that was reserved for a feed lot, anybody who thinks otherwise is so clearly an idiot they don't need to be censored.

Hopefully they don't buckle. I will refrain from commenting on their memercises and I'll mention this to everybody who talks about crossfit to me. They are worse than vegans so this will involve lots of talking.

Neutrality isn't hard if it's the intent. We largely had it until the 2016 election convinced the Big Data CEOs that they couldn't afford it anymore.

The first rule is that illegal content (child porn, for instance) is never allowed, legal content is always allowed. Beyond that, give users the tools to hide/mute individuals or topics they don't want to see. Those tools already exist, so that's easy. The problem is the companies don't want to leave it up to users; they want to guide the conversation and outlaw completely legal discussions they don't like, such as anti-vaccine talk. They could go back to the hands-off attitude of pre-2016 in a second if they wished to or were forced to.

@15

I agree-- legal content is always allowed. Illegal content banned.

However, then we just get a sleight of hand from the politicians.

They simply change the definition of illegal to include speech and discussion they don't like.

Problem 'solved'.

The meetings this week in Christchurch aim to do exactly that.

With most Western leaders very happy to oblige. It was the purpose of the meetings.

" unchecked global chronic disease"
Wew lads.
This is getting to the heart of the matter!
Notice how the USA allows such trash in the food, stuff that is banned in smaller countries? Why?
Because Americans have more money and can pay 1000 bucks for a medication that costs 50 bucks to make. Oh, most Americans don't have 1000 bucks? OK, those who can pay taxes will pay for it.
But you don't see this happening in smaller countries. Why can THEY ban GMOs and poisonous additives and we can't?
How broke are they?
The food industry and the MIC work hand in hand to bust out America. Oh it does not help to have all these fat stupid boomers either. But what do they see on TV every 2 minutes? A drug commercial. I have met people who think something is wrong with me because I have never "been on" a prescription drug. I have been temporarily prescribed an antibiotic a few times in my life. But that I'm not "on something daily" that, of course, has to be paid for by some program or another, is alien to them.

All of it is a sham. A lie. If the world was not so degenerate people would hang for this.

Does this mean instead of an advertising duopoly that now Google will be a monopoly?

At work, I had cows on statins lecturing me about my diet. I asked to compare most recent blood work and bet my numbers were better.

No takers.

The mysterious Frame Games was giving whites explicit lessons on the scale and reach of the diversity industry and its influence over corporations.
Some of his work survives on JF's channel and there are reupload sites if anyone is interested. He was a valuable practical politics resource, whatever the truth about his motives and identity.
