Resisting temptation

The servants of the lie don't care what you say, so long as you don't speak or stand by the truth:
Israel Folau has broken his silence about his tattered football career, saying he refused the 'temptation' to play rugby again and likened Rugby Australia's offer to that of the devil. The 30-year-old took to the stand of his congregation's service in Sydney's Kenthurst on Sunday morning, saying his latest controversy has 'been really challenging'.

He told The Truth of Jesus Christ church service that there had been several opportunities to save his $4 million Wallabies contract, but he ultimately refused the 'temptation' to take down his homophobic social media post.

'The way Satan works is he offers you stuff that could look good to the eye and makes you feel comfortable, and if you follow that path all the worries and troubles will go away. (But) it is always the will of God that comes first.'

Folau referenced his refusal to accept Rugby Australia's recent compromise offer to save his career under the condition he deletes his homophobic Instagram post from April.
This is a true man of principle. May God reward his faith and steadfastness. We are all subject to these temptations to sell out and submit in return for worldly riches. May we all have the strength and the courage to resist them.

A clear conscience and self-respect can not be bought. What a great example of how strong and principled men of faith should behave when given ultimatums to sacrifice their beliefs for money and fame.

It is good to see examples for our King. Satan tries very hard to make it appear that no one will stand strong, that we are all weak failures. But for all his schemes, the Folaus of the world still appear. Our God is an Awesome God.

I will also say that Folau contrasts well with Shapiro. One is willing to be held accountable for his opinions, the other will not.

Blogger PseudonymousMe May 13, 2019 8:38 AM

To fully appreciate how radically fanatical Folau’s deëxistance is, realize that he is comfortably the best Aussie rugby player this decade. Not quite Tom Brady, but Gronk-level good.

Watching church leaders betray this guy in Australia has been so maddening, but also enlightening. The Churchians who are desperate for approval from the world have exposed themselves thoroughly in this situation. God has used Israel in many ways already.

Hello Vox. You have been one of my daily sites which I have visited for a few years and decided to post....finally.

Israel Falou's witness to the world is ALSO a witness to us Christians in that we need to take a stand regardless of the consequences.

The Bible verse which makes me cringe every time I hear it is Jesus' admonition: "To whom much is given, much is asked". I cringe because much has been given to me (and you).
God bless, Michael

Notice the framing in this article - "homoPHOBIC". This framing frees SJWs from the responsibility of debating the reasons for which a person may oppose homosexuality. This is gas lighting. Whenever I see this framing used, I call it out.

The lesson I learned from this is to be watchful of any framing that misrepresents an issue. The term "homophobic" denies that opposition to homosexuality can be based on thoughtful deliberation on something observed.

When I call people out on this, it stops them in their tracks.

A few footballers in the AFL unliked their like on his post, they were keen to be seen as Christians, until the pressure came to stand by Folau. The AFL has so many that like basketballers who are boasting their Christianity like Steph Curry, then worlds collide & they can't be seen as liking something cool that cool basketballers like, because its implications once expressed are not cool to their employers.

Phobia means fear, and particularly irrational fear. I do not fear sodomites, but I find their perverse behavior disgusting. The term I prefer, and promote is homonausea. It more accurately describes my feelings toward them; disgust, not fear. Homonausea not homophobia.

We have to suffer in this life to be accounted worthy of the next, but the tables will soon be turned:

We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other, so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure, which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer; since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed.
(2 Thessalonians 1:3-10)

Martyr literally means "witness to the truth"; the persecution is just a side effect.

Boundaries. It's all about boundaries.

All people require guidance to live in a world of temptation. Today's Cultural Priests prescribe a world without boundaries (in part because boundaries get in the way of profit) and all media megaphones trumpet rationalizations for doing whatever is doable.

Men engaging in sex acts with men is outside boundaries for all kinds of belief systems, not just Christianity, but Cultural Priests demand that all actions beyond boundaries be enabled. In a world where all cultures are equal (AKA Cultural Marxism), a culture sans boundaries must be enabled as the exemplar of mandatory tolerance. This is the race-to-the-bottom (of a deep cesspit) now described by pedophilia, homosexuality, sexual hedonism in general, open-borders immivasion, abortion-on-demand and enabling of tranny-insanity. The mantra is "if it feels good, do it" even when the downstream consequences of doing so are obviously soul-destroying and misery-inducing.

The self-denial of Mr. Folau is a shining example of living a life defined by the boundaries of his faith. As virtue is its own reward, living a life "confined" by such boundaries is this world's greatest gift: A life of honor and Truth.

Just as children are born savages but desperately desire boundaries set by parents, adults suffer the consequences of savagery when boundaries are (intentionally) removed by those who do so as a means of parasitism.

Mr. Folau's rejection of this Lord-of-the-Flies culture is his win-win; he wins by faith and he wins by the benefits of acting in his life within it. Now that is faith, honor and Truth.

Blogger Robert What? May 13, 2019 10:47 AM

Remember the quaint old days when homosexual activists said they just wanted to be left alone to live their own lives? Fast forward to today: They don't want your tolerance. They don't even want your acceptance. Only enthusiastic celebration is permitted. Or shut up. But one day soon even shut up won't be permitted.

Blogger Borsabil May 13, 2019 10:48 AM

The narrative around Folau has been shifting over the past couple of weeks. After surveys showed a majority of Australian rugby fans strongly in support of his right to state his beliefs and against his firing, the offer was put to him to keep his contract in return for removing the Instagram post. He wouldn't even have to disavow, he just had to remove it. Think of the strength of character that would turn down millions of dollars over a principle.

After he refused the offer Rugby Australia, and their media apologists, are now claiming that Folau is being manipulated and used by right wingers, anything to distract from the obvious religious persecution that's taken place. I can tell you this, if his contract is torn up it will mean the end of Australian rugby. It's a sport that's been on the precipice for a while with declining attendance, TV ratings and sponsorship. It also suffers from piss poor administration. Half of the elite players are Pacific islanders, most of them are devout Christians. The fans are scratching their heads at why the most talented athlete in the team is being shit canned over a Bible verse of all things. Another example of out of touch corporate management wrecking their businesses by believing that social media is the real world. Get woke go broke indeed.

The sons of the god of this world do not understand the stand that Mr. Folau is taking, they are willingly blinded to it. Jame told us "Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God?" Mr. Folau understands this scripture and is living it out in front of our eyes.

I am still waiting for anyone, in any sport, or any fan of that sport, to tell me why everyone in sports MUST have the same political viewpoint, the same religious beliefs, and completely inhale the Leftist Liberal agenda. Since when was that ever one of the criteria for competing or participating in sports? There was no reluctance to compete with Soviets, East Germans, Chinese, and North Korean teams in the Olympics for decades. But when it comes to sporting events in our own country, all the players and competitors must be of the same social and political mind? Absurd.

It has gotten so bad that even the FANS and SPECTATORS are required to toe the line or be forever banned from attending future events. It may be time for some pushback.

But Muh Kids Are Dying!!!

“These types of remarks can and do push people over the edge. There can’t be any tolerance of bigotry,” Roberts (rugby league international Ian Roberts) told Channel 9’s Sports Sunday program.

“I do feel sorry for Israel but there are consequences to your actions. “I don’t say this lightly and what I’m about to say, the language I use, is hard and it’s for a point, it’s to get that message across — there are literally kids in the suburbs killing themselves.

This quote from a link where a talking news-hole said she couldn't believe that "out of all of the quotes of the Bible... he would pick one that singles out a group that today society accepts. That's not Christian."
Her name is Kerri-Anne Kennerly and she believes your Christian convictions should conform to the world's standard of acceptable thought. I can't even be sure anyone in her circle will tell her how hellishly wrong she is.

Yes, this is a big part of the constant blackpill gaslighting these days, not just in politics but in everything. There's a constant drumbeat of, "Just give up, white man. Everyone else has, so it's too late to fight back." One man taking a stand is a big counter to that.

That's the insane part - it's not like he tweeted that homos should be rounded up and shot, or imprisoned, or shunned. He just repeated a long-established religious belief that it's a sin. The volume of freak-out by crappy little shriveled creatures like Ian Roberts and Kerri-Anne Kennerly is so far out of proportion to what any sane person could understand even if they supported decriminalizing homosexuality... it's hopefully a wake-up call.

And those kids are dis-proportionally white, male, and straight. The fact that these cocksuckers never swing around their social bludgeons on behalf of the most common type of suicide victim is an open admission that suicide is not the issue. The issue is making people afraid. Like the "issue" has been in the for eternity past, anytime someone wants to change culture against the will of the people who compose it.

Blogger dc.sunsets May 14, 2019 8:33 AM

@46 State Estimation, thank you. It occurs to me that as fathers and mothers what we (are supposed to) do is provide our children boundaries so that they learn to live within them, and then continue to live boundary-defined lives as adolescents and adults (realizing that the Impulsive Mind is always there, chafing at those boundaries, ready to create chaos by breaching them if left in control. Few are immune, especially in these Satanic times of being surrounded at every point of the sphere by temptations.)

Boundaries are the girders and beams by which we build the backbone of our lives. Those who lack them visibly suffer for the deficit. Those who have a strong, coherent set of boundaries (faith, tradition and reason all have their place and each has features and bugs) can build deep and meaningful lives, which to me creates the side effect of happiness. [The "pursuit of happiness" is a red herring; happiness is a first-order effect, not a purpose, which is why people almost invariably mistakenly substitute pleasure in place of happiness, and insure the experience of misery.]

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. We need boundaries. We need more than just those we can develop by reason alone (which is a central defect of libertarianism.)

Changes in boundaries change how the world is understood.

Too true. The boundary-destroyers' goal is to warp others' mental map by which we all navigate our lives. Destroying boundaries destroys minds. And souls. There can be no coexistence with those whose intention is to drag us into their collective insanity.

The Australian media have no idea as to how to report on Israel Folau's contention with Rugby Australia, well on any issue where one party is coming from a place where their religion is important to them. Their 'take' on the story is that Israel stuffed up and went grovelling to RA to keep his multi-million dollar contract. One of the main drivers behind RA's attitude might be that they are in a financially parlous state and thus very sensitive towards the attitudes of its sponsors and Qantas is one of them. Qantas itself has been at the forefront of the promoting its LGBTIQ credentials under the management led by Alan Joyce. Joyce is quite open about living in a homosexual relationship which if kept personal is his business but by directing Qantas along the path of corporatizing the LGBTIQ agenda he has possibly acted against any numbers of codes of conduct, i.e. used his office to promote a personal agenda.
