A historical rhyme

It appears Americans will find themselves sympathizing with the Palestinian people sooner rather than later now that Florida and other states are occupied territory:
What is, however, less known is that inside the US, the Neocons and their allies have been a prime force to dismantle the Bill of Rights, especially the First and Second Amendments.

Today, I want to give a simple yet telling example of how this kind of stuff is quietly happening with very little opposition. And for that example, I will use the US state in which I am currently living, Florida.

Check out this stunning sequence of events:

On April 11th the FL House unanimously (114-0) passed a House Bill 741 which would define anti-Semitism as:
  • “A certain perception of the Jewish people, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jewish people.”
  • “Rhetorical and physical manifestations of anti-Semitism directed toward a person, his or her property, or toward Jewish community institutions or religious facilities.”
The bill also provides many examples of “anti-Semitism,” including:
  • Calling for, aiding, or justifying the killing or harming of Jews, often in the name of a radical ideology or an extremist view of religion.
  • Accusing Jews as a people or the State of Israel of inventing or exaggerating the Holocaust.
  • Accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interest of their own nations.
The bill also provides that examples of anti-Semitism related to Israel include:
  • Applying a double standard to Israel by requiring behavior of Israel that is not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation, or focusing peace or human rights investigations only on Israel.
  • Delegitimizing Israel by denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination and denying Israel the right to exist.
On April 29th Governor DeSantis and the Florida Cabinet met in Jerusalem (not a joke!) to proclaim their support for “the Jewish state” (sic) and declare that DeSantis will be the most pro-Israel governor in “America” (sic). The fact that holding that meeting abroad is a violation of Florida law did not bother anybody (except The Florida First Amendment Foundation which filed a lawsuit against this outrage). Neither did the fact that Israel is the last openly and officially racist state on our planet. Sadly, Florida is hardly an exception, two dozen other states (including Texas) have passed similar laws.
This is pure and unmitigated anti-American evil on display. It clearly demonstrates the way in which the Republican Party has been totally corrupted and is now incapable of defending either American interests or American rights. It is said that while history does not repeat, it does rhyme. And what we are seeing is an astonishing ur-repetition of the way in which the Roman empire offered refuge to poor, desperate Gothic refugees beleaguered by the Huns in 376 AD, only to see those refugees slaughter the emperor and sack Rome within 44 years.

I wonder how many states will support identical laws banning a certain perception of Christians, which may be expressed as hatred toward Christianity? I also note that some of these examples of "anti-semitism" observably contradict some of the other examples provided.

UPDATE: Lest you fail to grasp that this Florida law is a direct Neo-Palestinian attack on the First Amendment rights of Americans:
A federal judge has temporarily blocked the enforcement of a state law that prohibits government agencies in Texas from doing business with contractors who are boycotting Israel. U.S. District Judge Robert Pitman issued an injunction Thursday against the law, saying it threatens to suppress unpopular ideas and manipulates “the public debate through coercion rather than persuasion.” "This the First Amendment does not allow," he wrote.

Is there anywhere an example of people more ruled by aliens than Americans?

We are ruled by those who love foreigners and chaos more than they love fellow countrymen and order/peace/prosperity.

I honestly have no idea how things have lurched this far into MADNESS. Yet the DJIA is rallying, reversing an embryonic daily downtrend to resume the uptrend, informing me that the string quartet plays on and the dancers dance, faces covered in smiles, even as the deck lists and water laps over dancers' shoes.

At the rate we're going, I think they'll still be dancing even once they're immersed in water so cold that agony is induced. There isn't a bomb shelter deep enough to ride out what's to come.

Blogger Tars Tarkas June 07, 2019 11:58 AM

Freedom of speech is not cherished by Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, Cubans, Africans, Haitians or Jews. It is not a jealously guarded and hard won right of these people. It is a long defended and hard won right of the British people and by extension, Americans. As America becomes less and less American, our cherished history and way of life will be discarded by the people who do not value them. That is why the worst shit happens in the most non-American parts of the country like Florida and California.

We all know that Florida is hotspot #2 for the small hats in this country, behind Jew York.

This just seems like the Florida government trying to attract in more Jews (read: wealthy donors and bribers) from up north by eagerly applying lip balm and dropping their trousers for them: "Look, you won't be persecuted down here at all, or if you are, we'll lock those filthy goyim up! Please give us your money!"

That, or the government is already mostly Jewish, and they're just "protecting their own interests" at the cost of American's freedoms.

I can't imagine a way in which this could backfire on them horrendously, I mean, it's not like they've ever tried this before in 109 other times and places.

I don't remember if this came up here or not and the Unz article doesn't mention it, but a federal court already struck down Texas' version of an anti-BDS law. Florida can define anti-Semitism any way it wants to but the most likely outcome is a ruling that anti-Semitism is protected speech.

I really do not give a hoot about how anybody feels about anybody else. Who cares really? Some dislike Mormons. Some dislike Roman Catholics. Some dislike Hindus. Some dislike muslims. Everybody seems to have preferences, but until now...the law did not attempt to regulate those preferences in either direction, neither proscribe or prescribe. By what authority the government presumes to legislate preferences is one that has not existed in the past.

There will be some additional confusion by the anti-Semite protections only being extended to Jews and by extention to the State of Israel. Arabs are semites also, which could result in some interesting court interpretations. Not all Jews are semites, which will start even more shouting arguments. And while the State of Israel is supposed to be a Jewish state, it is not the only country where Jews live or hold public office or have significant investments. Do Israeli citizens living in the USA now have protection against criticism?

Don't suggest that this legislation is limited in scope with all the broad and open ended language in the world. Once it gets in front of (Jewish) jurists, it may be given the widest possible interpretation....even elaboration, and become retroactive, and include confiscatory penalties or mandatory re-education.

And a lot of those passages make no bones about how the Jews felt about Jesus.

Every time our priest reads these passages, I cannot help but think:

1. If, in these same passages, your run-of-the-mill American evangelical pastor replaces the words "the Jews" with something else. We don't dare name "the Jew", after all!

2. How much longer it will be before the Gospel of John is outlawed as "anti-Semitic hate speech."

3. If #2 comes to pass, how many American "Christians" will just sheepishly go along with it in order to maintain comfort and status in this world.

Speaking of Jews and abortion, a study from 2011 found that Jewish doctors are easily the most enthusias...er, willing, to provide abortions when contrasted with those of different religious groups:

From a summary of the study:

https://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/23/fewer-doctors-willing-to-do-abortions-new-study-shows/

"Some 40.2 percent of Jewish doctors say yes to doing an abortion compared to 1.2 percent of Evangelical Protestants, 9 percent of Roman Catholics or Eastern Orthodox, 10.1 percent of Non-Evangelical Protestants, 20 percent of Hindus, and 26.5 percent of doctors who said they had no religious affiliation."

The study:

https://journals.lww.com/greenjournal/Fulltext/2011/09000/Abortion_Provision_Among_Practicing.16.aspx

Here's a brief extract from another study in the same journal, published one month after the one discussed above:

"Considering all scenarios, assistance despite objection was more likely among Jewish ob-gyns and less likely among older ob-gyns, ob-gyns from the South, or ob-gyns for whom religion was most important compared with their respective reference groups."

"Steb, Steb, Steb... Man, come on. Mutts, yes; shitbags no. There aren't millions of people trying to gain access to the awesomeness that is Arab Palestine."

So you're saying that Israelis aren't people then.

Either that or you're trying to say "well they aren't trying to gain access NOW" even though you know perfectly well that they already gained it.

"If you disarmed the Palestinians today... nothing would change."

I'm sure that has nothing to do with their surrounding states, all of which would love the propaganda opportunity.

"Almost everyone who starts to "notice" after a lifetime of blindness goes through a period of intense rage. Some handle it better than others. Imagine when this happens en masse."

I know it's a gamma-ish trait to hang onto rage. So I have a new supply in store for every time I think about this stuff. The problem with a certain solution often looks to be that it was not completed.

"Please. Nate is the kid with a magnifying glass, burning them all indiscriminately."

Yeah, see, except for this: "Fuck them. They are a lie."

Which he somehow fails to realize also applies to him and his. Certainly he'll say "No it doesn't!", but so would the Palestinians, and they're both losing even if the Palestinians have been losing for a bit longer.

"Why do they want me to hate them?"

Because they can't cry out while striking you otherwise. Well... they can and will, but it won't look quite as realistic.

"The Arab-Levantine amalgamation of Muslims currently clustered next to Israel are as much "Neo-Palestinian" as the Israelis are. Just look at the population numbers."

The key to understanding it is this: Texas is The Republican-party of the States, "all hat and no cattle", all talk and no action. — This was obvious years ago, remember the "Border Crisis" where Ted Cruz and Glenn Beck went to the border? Well, during that crisis everything was absolutely apparent: the TX national guard was called up, but "For Display Purposes Only", despite the TX governor having all necessary legal authority to deal with the situation militarily, as per TX Constitution, Art 4, Sec. 7:
GOVERNOR AS COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF MILITARY FORCES.
He shall be Commander-in-Chief of the military forces of the State, except when they are called into actual service of the United States. He shall have power to call forth the militia to execute the laws of the State, to suppress insurrections, and to repel invasions.

You are a complete and utter moron. LOOK AT THE NUMBERS. The present-day population of the Gaza Strip and assorted territories is not composed of the descendants of the people who lived there when Israel was founded. The 1.8 million Arab descendants of those people *reside in Israel*. The "Palestinians" of present year have *even less historical claim* than the Israelis do.

Present day Palestinians are the equivalent of South Americans traveling into Mexico, calling themselves Mexican, and laying claim to US territory. That's what Nate means by "they're a lie".

Since the answer is yes, who did they displace? Yes, I'm sure some of the people they displaced also call themselves Israeli now, since their distinction of being some variety of non-Israeli before is now blurred or erased, but for certain some do not.

Azure, read for content for once. I *never* said that the Israelis have a (recent) historical claim on the land. I said that the people who *are being called Palestinians* also do not have any historical claim to it.

In point of fact, since the Jewish immigrants/modern Israelis largely settled in unoccupied territory, they have a much better case. You can refer to early British census data for commentary on that.

Blogger S1AL June 08, 2019 10:33 AM

Specifically, the Israeli Arabs are the only ones who can demonstrate a continuous claim by virtue of occupancy.

And you might look at what they think of the "Palestinians", so called.

Blogger xevious2030 June 08, 2019 11:34 AM

kudzu bob, it's a comment section, not a private chatline. You were commenting about someone that was having a conversation you were not a part of. And the point was not how I felt, no one here gives a rats ass how I feel. So, knowing that, using reading comprehension skills, figure it out.

"Azure, read for content for once. I *never* said that the Israelis have a (recent) historical claim on the land. I said that the people who *are being called Palestinians* also do not have any historical claim to it."

Irony, considering you aren't even addressing my argument. Yes, let's read for content so you can eat your crow:

"Steb, Steb, Steb... Man, come on. Mutts, yes; shitbags no. There aren't millions of people trying to gain access to the awesomeness that is Arab Palestine."

This is what you said, and it is both irrelevant and disingenuous, because there were millions of people who did just that and are still living there. You intentionally chose words referring to "now" in order to avoid that it already happened.

"In point of fact, since the Jewish immigrants/modern Israelis largely settled in unoccupied territory, they have a much better case. You can refer to early British census data for commentary on that."

Disingenuity again. Unoccupied is, as you use it, a function of expected population density. Under this erroneous line of reasoning I can take your backyard, assuming you have one, and live there, and I haven't displaced you at all because your backyard wasn't occupied.

A pertinent term would be "unowned", but you can't use that because it would be clearly untrue.

"Specifically, the Israeli Arabs are the only ones who can demonstrate a continuous claim by virtue of occupancy."

You left out the hyphen you need in order to try to make that statement sensible. So let's do this thing. Israeli-Arabs. See the problem? You know what question I'm going to ask? They were Arabs. They are Arabs. There are now foreigners living in their lands that you are so entitled on behalf of as to call those Arabs after the name of the Johnny come-latelies now occupying their lands.

Do you see the problem? Words mean things. Fake palestinians are rhetoric. The dialectic is that the land was referred to at different times as Palestine, and it did have former inhabitants, some of whom have been displaced. Those are real Palestinians.

It's right there in the very first post, the knee-jerk reaction as well as why that reaction is misguided. Yes, the fake palestinians are a lie, but that doesn't mean there aren't real ones. More to the point, to assume our host was lying to us is disingenuous in this circumstance, particularly when his statement makes more sense if he were not.

Knee. Jerk. Reaction. Best to just calm down and move on.

Or, you know, just accept your newfound American-Neo-Palestinity.

Denmark. The entire country turned to and saved their Jews. Why? What did the Danish Jews get right?

Nothing. They were tools to show that Danes are better, and it was done to say "f you" to Hitler and "f you to jews". Danes aren't that nice since they sent them to Sweden. Danes send all their problems to Sweden. Remember, these are the same people who "forgot" to send Hitler a Christmas card and then ignored Hitler when he whined about it. These are the same people whose King refused to back down during occupation and walked around with his royal guard 20 yards behind just to show how badass Danes are in the face of Nazi soldiers.

My Pastor from Denmark regularly makes veiled comments in sermons and letters how much jews suck. Last sermon in Danish he went on and on about needing to cut out the "cancer".

"Azure, I said precisely what I meant. You are now claiming that my use of specifics invalidates my point because it's only valid in... the specific case I applied."

Your uses of specifics were specifically irrelevant. Literally. You chose specifics that indicated other than the truth of the matter from a larger perspective, and you knew you were doing it.

Here's an example of what you've done twice now: "That dog looks sickly, get it out of here!" "Well its nose is warm and moist." *The dog is foaming at the mouth and snapping at people.*

You chose things that looked the way you wanted them to look, knowing that they were deceptive. This is why I termed you a deceiver, perhaps prematurely, but considering you're doubling down on them now, it is clear that I was correct.
