Approved opposition and the fake speech platforms

An Idka commenter is dubious about the new "free speech" social media sites:
Just saw a video with the Parler CEO. Only watched a few minutes because it feels off enough to be uncomfortable and the pattern is so clear. There is a lot of wizardry here – the weird hypnotic rhythm, the micro-expressions not really matching the surface conversation, the selective framing, Alex Jones going too far at times… This would be the Turning Point wing of the fake right – the prominence of Candace Owens isn’t subtle.

It looks targeted to whatever is left of “traditional” civnat conservatism. Mostly Boomers at this point, I’d assume. The fake framing is that “the system” is real, the base problem is “censorship”, “the left” has gone too far, and we need to get back to what America looked like on t.v. in the Reagan era. It’s basically discourse in the fake academic sense as fly paper. Incidentally, I’d never really noticed the crazy eyes/oversized mandible that is common on deranged globohomo women.

The most disappointing thing about it is how obviously inverted it is. Right down to the veiled decadence of the homosexual host. It’s like there was an Owen sketch called The Cuck and the Sodomite, only not funny.
He's right to be dubious. Parler and Thinkspot are exactly analogical to the Intellectual Dark Web. They are fake opposition to the mainstream, approved alternatives created to allow those who are shaky in their loyalties to the Narrative to feel as if they are standing against it without actually doing so.

Notice, in particular, the way these "upstart new platforms" are being treated very, very differently than the likes of genuine alternative platforms such as BitChute, Gab, Fediway, Mastodon, and Infogalactic.
Breitbart News recently spoke with the CEO of upstart social media platform Parler about the company’s plans and what makes Parler different from Big Tech’s social media platforms. Breitbart News will begin actively posting on its official Parler account in the near future.

There is a new market emerging, one that social media giants have inadvertently created. I suspect that most of these new competitors will be pozzed one way or another. A good litmus test is to follow the money, people who are beholden to big donors shouldn't be trusted, like most of the mainstream media.

How do cargo cults burn out and disappear into the ashbin of history? Civic Nationalism and its attendant beliefs being a cargo cult of wishful thinking. The twittercons being all over this manifestation of the cargo cult and the revival of Human Events makes me even wonder how if possible can the cargo cultists be made useful to Western Civ.

John Matze,CEO of Parler. Small hat wizard.

She'd let traitors by her own definition liquidate their own assets in a year? Whew, she's thought hard about this. If that's all that's stopping legal immigration is flame-proof broadcloth let necessity guide invention.

Candace is playing to emotion rather than any nationalist-approved logic, but that's also a major reason she has a huge audience for her milquetoast ideas. "Love it or leave it" is hardly a new concept, but it does give alt-liters a focus: expulsions are necessary, let's get to it.

Blogger JD Curtis June 16, 2019 10:35 AM

Speaking of alt tech, has anyone here installed the Dissenter browser and if so, how is your experience with it?

Blogger Martin Marprelate June 16, 2019 11:24 AM

I have it installed. Haven’t had much reason to use it because most things I read still have comments sections and I think not many people are using the app combined with the number of various websites the population goes to it makes it unlikely that the two intersect. Give it a shot but I haven’t been blown away.

Blogger Akuma June 16, 2019 11:29 AM

Alt-Tech is dead in the water. 90% plus of righters won't defend or help their own. I set up and ran tests of an alternative to Google Voice with plans to expand to chat and video similar to skype. Video worked fine when I tested it. When it came time to get data analytics for the next stage of research and development not a single righter had the technical know how to help.

Blogger JD Curtis June 16, 2019 11:44 AM

Do you have the Dissenter extension on a preexisting browser or the new Dissenter browser itself?

Blogger Jack of All Trads June 16, 2019 11:47 AM

Well at least she's getting closer to a big truth about civ nat: That actually trying to make it work would require a huge, oppressive and intrusive government that vets it's citizens constantly and expels those who don't demonstrate their adherence to the ideals. A perpetual Inquisition.

Any government that could deal with modern problems will require this. Even the most optimistic white nationalist fantasy would take years just to secure territory and ban illegal elements from civic participation. Libertarian governments focused on individual rights would be worse than worthless, if only because leftists can effortlessly supplant them.

Breitbart basically became a site that gave me a sinking and confused feeling every time I visited. Major demoralization agenda going on, although it's subtle. Raheem Kasaam, ex-Breitbart chief, is now at Human Events.com, and they do produce some good articles.

I haven't heard of Fediway or Mastadon. Guess it'll be a while before things settle. If the goal is to pursue the alt-right agenda, the site that has influence outside that niche will be the one to bank on. How has Gab gained traction among the normies, for instance?

He bought the Human Events brand. And then hired grifter-extraordinaire Ian Miles Cheong as Managing Editor.

I have a friend who is an ex-Breitbart writer, who said that after Bannon moved on to the White House, the site became far more click-baitish and less news/ journalist/ Breitbart-ish. Said ex-Breitbart person had to fight hard for a fair severance, and does not look back with much gladness at the later experience.

Blogger Akulkis June 16, 2019 1:43 PM

You don't want anything to do with mastadon. it's a land covered with freak flags, and on others.

Blogger JAG June 16, 2019 2:55 PM

I've looked into BitChute, and they seem good except for one big red flag - it's located in Britain. Even if the people in charge of it are 100% non-woke, how long before the British government puts a stop to it?

Blogger Franz Lyonheart June 16, 2019 2:56 PM

Speaking of the Fake Right : try to comment on any of Breitbart's outrageous anti Iran propaganda pieces. Try to say that it doesn't suit America First policy to support the Israel/Saudi-Arabia Alliance in the Mid East. Their (((moderators))) will ban you outright. It's "Israel first" at (((breitbart.com)))!

Blogger Franz Lyonheart June 16, 2019 2:57 PM

Haven't been back since. They really do despise their own readers.

Blogger peacefulposter June 16, 2019 3:58 PM

VD, it is surprising to hear you say that GAB is a "genuine alternative platform" given your well documented misgivings about them and Mr. Torba.

If they improved their moderation, perhaps?

Blogger binks webelf June 16, 2019 4:16 PM

@19 "I've looked into BitChute, and they seem good except"

Perhaps the Dark Evil Lord of Evil, Vox Day, first of his name, has master-plans in this regard?

Torba is immature and an ass, but he isn't controlled. He learned the hard way what happens when you let alt-retard go nuts on your platform.

It's like having a real life public square. I can have a grudging respect for someone that allows people to say their piece, but when some crazy homeless guy jumps on a soapbox, drops his pants and starts pinching out steaming piles and he defends it as free speech and attacks you for warning about it...I'm going to not want to patronize the place.

Why? It's true. I wouldn't use it myself, but it's certainly not a mainstream platform.

Speaking of free speech fakery, I went on a bit of a rant today: Against Free Speech.

Blogger Tanjil Bren June 16, 2019 7:09 PM

"it is surprising to hear you say that GAB is a "genuine alternative platform" given your well documented misgivings"

I was wondering when that question would come up.

Their lack of moderation (and Vox's experience) has no real bearing on their status as a platform.

Blogger Jack (LJCSOGHMOMAS) June 16, 2019 8:56 PM

Breitbart is, and has been from the very beginning, an Israel-first publication. If they happen to take the right side on any particular issue, it is only because that position does not conflict with their primary position of Israel First. You can scroll through their click-bait Boomercon "news" stories on any given day and see that this is so.

I previously thought Bannon was legit because of what he said about the white working class and his criticisms of Clinton, Bush, and Obama. But now he's gone from criticizing the hubris of neocons calling for regime change in the Middle East to actually calling for regime change in China. (He actually said this in the Frontline documentary about the trade war.) Either he's a drunken buffoon or a shameless liar.

Data does not support conclusion.

You data supports THESE conclusions:

1) The righters attracted to your project didn't have the technical chops.

2aThe righters WITH the technical chops for your project are working on other things,
OR
2b) you failed to reach them in the first place.
