Conservatives never learn

The British Conservatives are about to learn the lesson that US conservatives learned in the 2016 election.
Voters who back the Brexit Party at the next election would be helping put Jeremy Corbyn in No 10, Jacob Rees-Mogg warned last night.

The Leader of the House of Commons emphatically ruled out an alliance between the Tories and Nigel Farage in a snap poll.

He also issued a clear warning of the consequences for the Tories of Brexit not happening on October 31, saying the Brexit Party would be ‘full steam ahead’.

‘I don’t think a deal works,’ Mr Rees-Mogg told a Daily Telegraph event last night. ‘If we haven’t left by October 31, the Brexit Party won’t want to do a deal with us. If we have failed, the Brexit Party is full steam ahead.’

Urging Brexit Party supporters back to the Tory fold, he warned the audience to ‘think very hard’ before voting for it.

He added: ‘If you vote for the Brexit Party at the next election it is a vote effectively for Jeremy Corbyn.’
People stuck on binary analyses never see the third option coming. They also never seem to grasp that most people prefer open and avowed enemies to unreliable and traitorous allies.

If the leaders of the Conservative Party had any brains and actually valued political power, they would do two things. First, encourage Scottish independence. The only reason Labour ever had any power in Great Britain was due to the strong inclination of the Scots toward the Left. Once the Scottish electorate is excised from the British Parliament, Labour becomes as irrelevant as the Liberal Democrats have been historically.

Second, do a deal with the Brexit Party and build up a powerful Leave majority whether Brexit has taken place or not.

The fact that the Conservative leadership refuses to do either of these perfectly obvious things demonstrates very clearly that they are not serious about any of their professed principles. Like US conservatives, they have failed to conserve anything. They fully merit their future failure.

What's your take on the current situation in Italy right now?

Blogger MC September 19, 2019 9:27 AM

Absolutely true - and obviously true

My hope is that if the Tories don't get an EU Deal by Oct 31 they will have to backtrack, and find a way to some kind of arrangement with Farage. (probably not calling it a "pact" or a "deal")

If they don't they will be wiped out.

The genie is out of the bottle - every serious Brexiteer will be voting Brexit Party unless there is a strategic arrangement between Farage and Johnson

God Bless England

The rossoverde government collapses within nine months and Salvini wins the subsequent election.

A deal with Farage is the best way to weed out the fake allies. Drop the MPs that are remainders and let Nigel fight those areas. Then form coalition and never lose another election. Rees-Mogg has been a proven faggot for 3 years.

This is a great prediction & I appreciate hearing it.
Undermining 5 star should be a top priority at this point.

Regarding the Scots, until Thatcher shut the coal pits, and all the dock yards and industry closed, Scots were a bastion of Tory votes. It still is in the agricultural rural areas, they are just out voted by the adjoining urban city.

Of all the British Nations, Scots tend towards the authoritarian right the most. I believe the voting patterns since the 1980s is a reactionary aberration which wont survive much longer as it becomes clear the left aren't bringing these industries back

Hilarious to see him just be another Tory capitulators.

The left has a perfect opportunity to become the White party and win every election. But they're throwing it away because they have as little sense as the mainstream right.

An insightful view of the British political scene as ever. Refreshing to get get an outside observer's opinion, especially when it is more accurate and informed than that of any domestic British political commentator.

The Tories wanting an election without a deal is understandable, in terms of them wanting to keep as much of their power as possible while not delivering on Brexit. Boris is the only leader who could make that possible. But it's utterly stupid: when voters see the Tories bending over backwards to avoid the best possible move, the party may as well confess that they want the Chequers deal.

I'm pleased as pie, because this guarantees a Brexit Party victory. Sorry, Johnson fans, I don't know how many more Tories have to denounce the Brexit Party before you realize they clearly don't want Farage -or- Brexit, even if it means a Corbyn government.

I wish it did

I will be voting Brexit Party (formerly UKIP, formerly - log ago - Tory) and so will millions of others

But many others, the sort of people who don't follow the news so avidly, who want Brexit - just about, on balance - but aren't Brexiteers - will vote Conservative

It's likely that between our Brexiteer determination and the Tory RINO's determination - if they don't back down - that Corbyn WILL have a chance to win power through the back door, which is not something we want.

BUT we are not backing down.

We're voting Clean Break Brexit. If we don't get it now, we'll keep fighting.

What happens, happens.

Brexit Party, Tea Party, it's all the same....channel and redirect the rage to keep them engaged. This is all part of the Elite's attempt to control. Anything Brexit related is a false sub-binary issue designed to keep the rage 'contained where we can see it.'

I believe lies can only carry a party so far, MC. Maybe Johnson has enough credibility to pull through? The problem is, he's being torn down every DAY by the media, who obviously want either Labour or the Lib Dems to pull through. The best way to counter that would be to deal with Farage and pull out a win. He's burning his candle at both ends, and that's the quickest way to total collapse of the party.

When it comes to the Celtic fringes, for some reason, the Tories suddenly remember that their party's full name is "Conservative & Unionist", and ignore the siren calls of a permanent English majority.

I can only pray that the Brexit party does well in the Labour heartlands where UKIP were showing strongly before they declared victory and went home three years ago.

"IF we haven’t left by October 31" says what needs to be said to understand them.

Politically, and short term, Scottish independence would solve a problem with Brexit. Long term, it provides another problem, in terms of beachhead. Granted, England is not putting a good portion of London on boats and shipping them, well, anywhere not the island. Longer term, the attitudes of Scotts (and the shared attitudes south of Scotland) will need to be corrected or removed if the people of Great Britain are to continue as a recessive expression. That is a can that may be kicked down the road a bit, but it is one to be planned for (media, entertainment, education, popular culture funding by a brought to emerge nationalist elite). Not a simple task, as a simple Brexit is delayed three years now, but a task that will need to be met. In the process of solution, doing the best to have unintended consequences of little consequence would be the difficult trick. Maybe politically a bit of tar and feathers of chickens to make the point. People have become accustomed to being too nice, losing their humanity as expressed throughout time immemorial.

People stuck on binary analyses never see the third option coming.

Binary analyses is the non-Alpha/Sigma way of things: they only see the choices presented to them.

Alpha/Sigmas look for ways to make new choices. In fact, making new choices for other people is a powerful tool in the Alpha playbook.

"Conservatives" want Theresa May's rehashed deal minus the backstop. It's what they've been after all along. That's why there is talk of the "rebels" being let back in after initially having the whip removed. They would vote for that deal. It's also why they won't ally with the Brexit Party. They know Farage wouldn't accept it.

Could be the ONLY good thing to come out of pushing LGBTQP+ acceptance: no one will care if it turns out you're a gay kiddy diddler in Congress; there's already five other openly gay kiddy diddlers. The elites lose a lot of blackmail that way.

A man has as many masters as he does vices. If a man had money, and wanted to absolutely control a dozen votes in parliament, he would find a dozen men he could control absolutely, and then control them into parliament.

Blogger CS September 19, 2019 2:13 PM

This is bunk.

The UK Government needs no deal with Farage or the EU, and should not be seeking one.

Under existing law, if there is no deal with the EU, the UK is out of the EU on October 31st, the Brexit Party becomes irrelevant, Britain becomes once again a sovereign democratic nation, and the Tories will romp to a huge win in the next general election.

However, if the Tories push through some variant of the May deal, they will deserve to rot in Hell and surely will do.

The SNP is starting to lose its charm. As stated by fuzzracer, pre Thatcher Scotland had a large Conservative vote.
They voted to remain in the United Kingdom, and with the SNP growing more ideological by the day they will only shed votes.
Conservatives have 13 seats, while labour have 7.
The voting patterns in Scotland have shifted lots over the years and will likely do so again. Which way they go next, only time will tell.

By Rees-Mog's own calculus, support for Remain is support for Corbyn as PM.

Blogger justaguy September 19, 2019 5:24 PM

As the current elites broke the system of government that the UK has had for over a century over this Brexit mess-- there are real issues on how UK will re-establish their government system or will they go into anarchy. The Speaker really botched things in order to try to stop Brexit-- but his decisions are now on record. The UK has more worries that Farage.

There are winds of change you should factor into to your demoralising position. If you have observed politics and the peoples of Europe you can see the real issues appearing IMPLICITLY..England and the US may both have had a monoparty arrangement forever but Brexit is a Trojan horse for for the more significant issues you refer to that have caused the rage. Brexit is a cipher for immigration reversal and remediation of the national culture.

"The only reason Labour ever had any power in Great Britain was due to the strong inclination of the Scots toward the Left."

There is a couple of points about that.

Back in the day, before the UK joined the EU, Scotland was largely Tory voting. After membership of the EU decimated the Scottish fishing fleet and associated industries, the Tory vote withered on the vine, turning Scotland into a Labour bastion. Labour now having lost Scotland to the SNP ( Labour in Nationalist clothing ) is still in a very difficult position to get a majority in the UK, unless it forms an alliance with the SNP.

In short, the Tory loss of Scotland is due largely to membership of the EEC/EU introduced by that paedophile ( Thanks Wiltshire Police ) Edward Heath.
