Embrace your extremists

Because you're going to be defined as one sooner or later.
Earlier this month, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors passed a resolution declaring the National Rifle Association (NRA) to be a "domestic terrorist organization." Some of us laughed at the absurd move and simply wrote it off by thinking "It's San Francisco, they're all nuts over there," but the sentiment is actually more popular in the Democratic Party than you might expect. In fact, nearly a third of Democrats believe that the National Rifle Association (NRA), the largest gun rights organization in the country, should be declared a terrorist organization, and that it should be against the law for Americans to become members.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that nearly one-out-of-three Likely Democratic Voters (32%) favor declaring the gun rights group a terrorist organization in the community where they live. Fourteen percent (14%) of Republicans and 20% of voters not affiliated with either major party agree. Twenty-eight percent (28%) of Democrats say Americans should be prohibited by law from belonging to pro-gun rights organizations like the NRA, a view shared by 15% of Republicans and 10% of uanffiliateds.

Among all likely voters, 23% favor declaring the NRA a terrorist organization in their home community, while 18% think it should be against the law to belong to pro-gun rights groups like the NRA.

When nearly a third of a political party believes that an organization supporting gun rights is a "terrorist organization" and should be illegal to join, it makes you wonder what percentage also oppose free speech, freedom of religion, and other rights that are guaranteed by the Constitution.
They have to go back. And if they have nowhere to go back to, the states, once united, must divide.

The GOP had a golden opportunity to "agree and amplify" the CalExit movement and assist them by holding a vote in the then-unified legislature to "release" them from the Union.

That unsalvageable state, once put on an exit trajectory, would draw in the most insufferable of fake americans before official exit and guarantee the GOP becomes the left-most party in the USA.

Went to SF for a baseball game on commuter rail recently. The passengers dutifully followed instructions to allow the comrades with bicycles to board first then piled onboard like tuna in a can. That they support gun confiscation is a given. There’s more in common between the French and Italians than these people and their fellow citizens in rural California. An economic downturn will be enough to initiate a painful unraveling.

“The resolution, which passed Tuesday and says the U.S. is “plagued by an epidemic of gun violence,” accuses the NRA of using “its considerable wealth and organization strength to promote gun ownership and incite gun owners to acts of violence.”

There is absolutely nothing damning about any of the claims they make, until they throw that last one in, the completely false statement.

I live in southern California. It feels like I live in a foreign country, even among so-called fellow whites. Really understanding this simple wisdom has helped me grow a lot and realize I was under a spell, being far more vocally critical of allies acting "imperfectly" than I was of sworn enemies. I have since stopped applying purity tests to allies and counselled others to do the same. At 5-6 million members, the NRA would become the largest terrorist organization the world has ever seen.

And when you brand innocent people as criminals and terrorists, they have a tendency to start living up to their reputation.

Blogger tublecane September 12, 2019 2:20 AM

@42- Not controlled opposition, otherwise the gun grabbers would have been as successful as every other movement aimed at destroying American civilization. Ben Shapiro, for instance, conserves nothing. Gun rights have been conserved, to an extent, and in some aspects extended.

That's thanks to "gun culture" and the deep practical, intellectual, and emotional attachment people have to guns. The NRA is one means of discharge this normally latent power. It may be corrupt, but we're only comparing it to every other center-right or right-wing organization. Almost all of which are born losers. The NRA and Federalist Society occasionally accomplish things.

San Francisco is the Gawd-awfulest place to live in under siege.

It's isolated on a peninsula. Two three-man teams with a 60mm mortar can shut off all road and rail traffic until the National Guard can organize resupply convoys, and that will take longer than the three days supply of food they have.

Sure, they have sea access--but the container port facilities are on the other side of the Bay, which brings us back to land transport for the last mile. And it's ridiculously easy to close San Francisco Bay. The joke goes, how many mines does it take to close a port? Answer: Zero, just post a press release saying you HAVE mined it. Lloyd's of London will do the rest. Extra points if you have a trawler covertly drop devices that look like seabed mines in the shipping channel before issuing the press release: modern minehunting and clearing is an extremely slow and painstaking process.

Power and water? The main source is a pipeline from Yosemite. Breach it in the boonies with C-4, and have a couple of sniper teams waiting to shoot at repair crews. Same with the power lines. To me, there's little distinction between the clown wearing an NRA cap, holding his Beretta O/U on the trap range who agrees that scary black guns should be banned, and Mollie Tibbets' father who can't seem to grasp that the specific man who murdered his specific daughter would not have been present to do so had he lived where he was legally allowed to live.

Truly Sad, but it only reinforces one of my basic beliefs these days .... specifically, we cannot long remain one nation, or share the same government, or legal system, or Constitution, with people who insist on enslaving the rest of us with their own preferences.

I do not mind that THEY are different from myself, and everyone I know. We are all very different people and it should not matter because we are "free" to be different. But we have a segment of the population that habitually insists that nobody has the freedom to be wrong and they define what is wrong, over and above what the law requires. In fact, they insist it must be in the law too, so they constantly agitate and demand that a new law be written to incorporate what they say is wrong. Failing at that, they try to find a Federal judge that will so order that wrong to be corrected everywhere in our country, even if nobody else agrees.

I could describe these aggressive enslavers for days and demonstrate that the society they insist on creating is neither democratic or equal or free, nor does it rely heavily on any fixed doctrine or manifesto, because it changes too often and too dramatically. What we are witnessing is the overthrow of a free society by those who insist on being the masters, with absolute and unquestioned authority, and the rest of us shall obey, whether we agree or not, whether we like it or not.

From where I sit, this will never end and the only way to change this dynamic is with blood. Either we will be slaves to overbearing women or we will be free men, and they will not take NO for our answer, and they are eager to use force to make us comply. This is not something we can dismiss and walk away from.

Blogger HouellebecqGurl September 12, 2019 2:46 PM
