Hmmm...

Has AB caught a pass or punched a coach YET?

My Bengals are all under house arrest or in prison.

Who's next QB to retire? My money's on Brady.

Blogger Iron Spartan September 08, 2019 1:34 PM

The Vikings look too good, too early. This bothers me.

Blogger Azimus September 08, 2019 1:35 PM

I for one am rooting for the Browns. It seems like they finally have a nucleis from which to build a professional football team from. Coming from another rust belt market (Wisconsin), I like to see teams from the upper midwest do well (except Minneapolis of course. Chicago has been so mediocre for so long, one can't really harbor any animosity toward their club and they're pretty a classy squad overall. And same for Detroit - can't really root against a town that far down the poverty hole).

So best of luck to all teams this year, except Minnesota. And yes, I realize I'm flirting with beinn banned, and yes, they are the better team this year so this is mere jealousy talking...

Blogger Weak September 08, 2019 1:41 PM

It's the NEFL. New England Football League. They control the head office on Park Ave, may as well make it official.

Blogger Crew September 08, 2019 1:42 PM

When are they going to let poor Kaeperdick have another QB slot?

Blogger Kevin September 08, 2019 2:00 PM

The Ravens are crushing. And Maryland tore a giant hole into Syracuse yesterday. All is right with the world and in the land of pleasant living.

Blogger Skyler the Weird September 08, 2019 2:00 PM

I'm thinking the Riverboat Ron era at Carolina is coming to an end.

Blogger Max September 08, 2019 2:02 PM

It's messed up, but as a Syracusan I can't help but be pleased when we get wrecked. "This year will be different!" No it won't, SU is a basketball school, deal with it.

Blogger thalios September 08, 2019 2:15 PM

If you understand how to make use of VPNs or proxy servers, the full 250+ game season is available on GamePass for $125 via Costa Rica. If you're in the US/CAN, you need to use a VPN/proxy to watch as well.

Blogger David Ray Milton September 08, 2019 2:16 PM

I’ll be pulling for my local Cardinals again this year. Watched every depressing game last year. While I figure it would be tough to be worse than last year, I’m not keen on our new coach (losing record as a college coach... really?) or our new extremely short, but dynamic (black) QB with a poor wonderlic score. But, i’ll be happy to be proven wrong.

Best of luck to all teams. May any SJW displays be countered by growing nationalistic sentiment. Hail Belichick!

Blogger JaimeInTexas September 08, 2019 2:26 PM

Watching the Redskins just because Keenum. Wife is UH grad and because Keenum was given such a lousy deal in Houston. Keenum is a likable guy and I am hoping he succeeds.

Blogger Crew September 08, 2019 2:29 PM

I'm rooting for the Oakland Raiders because, well, someone has to!

Blogger John Best. September 08, 2019 2:33 PM

Patriots going back to back. I like Derek Carr so I hope the Raiders win 5 games.

Blogger Retrenched September 08, 2019 2:36 PM

Dolphins look really horrible. I gotta remember to start anyone on my fantasy team that's playing against them this year.

Blogger Stg58/Animal Mother September 08, 2019 2:44 PM

I like the recent Antonio Brown drama, and even more so that now he will probably catch the Super Bowl winning catch with the Patriots this season.

That's right, Pats win it all this year.

Tom Brady Death Watch:

is this the year he emulates Peyton Manning and is the worst player in the Superb Owl?

Blogger Daniel September 08, 2019 2:55 PM

Go Jets.

Blogger Mr.MantraMan September 08, 2019 3:09 PM

CasteFootball.com for great conversation about football as well.

Blogger Mr.MantraMan September 08, 2019 3:12 PM

McCaffrey looks great will carry Panthers since Newton is average to slightly above average.

Blogger Richard Rahl September 08, 2019 3:20 PM

SKOL

Blogger Pax_Romana September 08, 2019 3:23 PM

I'm surprised Newton bounced back after he broke his back. Granted, after the Super Bowl where he lost to a dying Peyton Manning, Newton's not been anything to write home about, but he's a decently average QB.

Blogger Mr.MantraMan September 08, 2019 3:34 PM

Scam certainly worth a high draft pick but IMO without Greg Oleson average QB.

Blogger Ben Cohen September 08, 2019 4:09 PM

The super bowl where Newton got taken down by the Broncos was awesome. Defensive tour de force.

Blogger Brett baker September 08, 2019 4:53 PM

Well, it looks like the Browns are getting into traditional mode. @#$$#$$$#*#$$#$#$$%%!!!!

Blogger David Ray Milton September 08, 2019 5:22 PM

Murray has great mechanics. But he looks tinier than 5’10”. Probably 5’7”. He’s been swatted down twice so far. Size matters.

We should have drafted O-Linemen.

Blogger P Glenrothes September 08, 2019 5:47 PM

Chiefs vs Rams in the Superbowl.

Blogger van helsing September 08, 2019 6:14 PM

the Jests did me in. and... baker who?

Blogger Hammerli 280 September 08, 2019 6:45 PM

And the DC Perpetual Losers (once known as the Washington Redskins) manage to pull out another loss.

Perhaps they could play high-school teams.

Blogger Retrenched September 08, 2019 6:56 PM

Prescott looking like Superman against the Giants defense today.

Blogger Newscaper312 September 08, 2019 6:57 PM

I dont much care for the NFL for various reasons, but skill is skill. And at least it is much more honest in what is about, hiring the best talent to win and making money, period, than what college football has become (looking at you, SEC, among others) and the pretense that its still about education.

Blogger JAG September 08, 2019 7:15 PM

It does not look like much has changed as far as power rankings in the NFL go after week 1. Baltimore absolutely crushed Miami in the biggest blowout so far. Cowboys with an easy game against the depleted Giants. The Browns, despite off season hype that they had turned a corner, come out and look like, well, the Browns.

Blogger Robert Schecter September 08, 2019 8:37 PM

Rather watch Youtube

Blogger David Ray Milton September 08, 2019 8:53 PM

I may have been wrong about Kingsbury after that 4th Q. Then again, it is the Lions.

Blogger Skyler the Weird September 08, 2019 9:14 PM

I don't know what Jemele Smith is taking about. Black athletes would lose money going from the Power Five schools to the HBCU schools. Has she ever looked in the parking lot of an athletics dorm? Cam Newton went from the SEC to the NFL and took a pay cut.

Blogger Seth S September 08, 2019 9:42 PM

Will the Browns ever be good again?

Blogger CF Neal September 08, 2019 9:53 PM

The Browns are cursed.

The city of Cleveland ...

Ahhh, the WHOLE of Ohio ...

Shall I continue?

Blogger Skyler the Weird September 08, 2019 9:56 PM

The real browns won a couple of Super Bowls in Baltimore. These Browns have never been good.

Go Titans! This year is our year to win the division!

Blogger furor kek tonicus ( honkeys are not human so it's okay to hate them, WhiteManBad ) September 08, 2019 10:14 PM

the Blue Jackets aren't doing too shabby.

Blogger David Ray Milton September 08, 2019 10:32 PM

Right?! Ernie Adams isn’t even back from his summer bender and this is what they’re doing to the Steelers.

Blogger JAG September 08, 2019 10:41 PM

NE fears the NFC East in the SB. Either Dallas or Philly will put a stop to the over confident Patsies.

Blogger Jack Amok September 08, 2019 10:42 PM

The Dolphins should be relegated to the XFL

Blogger Ska_Boss September 08, 2019 10:59 PM

I sure do love being a Patriots fan!

Blogger Wild Ape September 08, 2019 11:01 PM

The Boys rolled the Giants. I haven't seen them look this good since their Super Bowl run in the 90s.

Blogger Lazarus September 08, 2019 11:16 PM

I love the smell of enthusiasm in the morning.

It smells like evening disappointment.

Blogger Guitar Man September 08, 2019 11:32 PM

Pats looking like the Pats.

Blogger Don't Call Me Len September 09, 2019 4:37 AM

Superb Owl is a terrific typo.

Blogger Unknown September 09, 2019 10:20 AM

Hmm used to be a huge fan, not anymore. So, what is this like year 3 of not giving a shit about the NFL anymore?

Blogger CarpeOro September 09, 2019 10:25 AM

I was going to watch the Lions-Cardinals game. The local talk show guys were convinced Vegas had to be wrong this time, and the talk show guys usually don't have faith in them. Instead, caught the 50th anniversary concert for ZZTop. Lions didn't prove me wrong, snatching a draw out of the jaws of victory.

Blogger JDC September 09, 2019 10:48 AM

Quote: Instead, caught the 50th anniversary concert for ZZTop. Lions didn't prove me wrong, snatching a draw out of the jaws of victory.

And not simply by inept coaching and shoddy defense...but a poorly called time out. The Lions will find a way.

Blogger jeffinjapan September 10, 2019 12:54 AM

The Saints/Texans game was epic, and the refs still can’t get it right.

Blogger James Dixon September 11, 2019 9:45 AM

Hmm. Looks like Brown may not be suiting up for the Patriots: https://nypost.com/2019/09/11/patriots-blindsided-by-the-antonio-brown-rape-lawsuit/
