600% and counting

News of the availability of the 2020 Junior Classics is has observably spread as far as Australia and Hong Kong. If you are similarly interested in acquiring one of the greatest homeschooling assets ever printed, whether in digital, hardcover, or deluxe leather editions, you can do so here.

The campaign owner is aware that the campaign cannot be found by searching for it on Google or the crowdfunding site. That is by design, so there is no need to repeatedly inform us of that fact. If you wish to help spread the news about the , please feel free to post the animated GIF above with a direct link to the campaign attached. And thanks very much to the Classics backer who created the banner.

In other crowdfunding news, we are aware of about 500 AH Vol. I omnibuses that have not yet shipped due to a problem with the order formatting. We are in the process of fixing that with the printer, so if you have not yet received your omnibus, just sit tight, as this is just a minor procedural problem.

UPDATE: The Heirloom perk is intentionally priced higher than the sum of its parts because certain backers have requested a means of providing additional support to the project.

UPDATE: Both the leather and the case-laminated hardcover editions are printed on acid-free paper that meets the ANSI/NISO Z39.48-1992 standards for archival quality paper.

This is very impressive and encouraging. We're hungry for such treasures. Let's keep up the good work, and go get 'em, tigers!

Blogger Clint October 19, 2019 8:55 AM

I notice that the Men of the West have already posted it on their site. Good. We need to spread this around. Anyone else with a blog or site should do the same.

Can you not crowdfund all of your new titles this way? It is so encouraging and pleasing to watch this grow!

It's so encouraging to see the appetite for non-converged literature is rising. People are waking up, glad to be one of the lucky ones.

Waiting to help crowdfund Technology Of Civilization!

Did by chance any of Jim Corbett's writing make it into sports and adventure?

What a nice contract that will be for some specialty printer.

Backed this for a set, and can't wait to back a campaign for "Rebuilding A Civilization: A How-To Primer" series. Especially interested in Prologue: "Deciding on Which Warlord's Territory to Move To," and Volume I-Water (including indoor plumbing).

Huzzah!

Blogger Durandel October 19, 2019 12:55 PM

Is this the only way to get the books or will they be available for sale later? And if so, what will be the cost per book?

Blogger Dr. J October 19, 2019 1:11 PM

Do the leatherbound editions in the Heirloom collection differ from the set purchased alone? I'm interested in getting the trifecta but wondered why the bundled cost was higher than the three purchased individually. Thanks.

Blogger Franz Lyonheart October 19, 2019 3:07 PM

Purchased. I've opted for the Deluxe Leatherbound edition.

@13, yeah I have the same question. Hardcover and leatherbound both include the digital; so the way I understand it, the Heirloom gives you the Hardcover in addition. It's still more expensive than getting the Leatherbound + Hardcovers separately, which might also be an option for you.

I believe Vox may have wanted to create a higher tier contribution to allow people to support this project with more money. I think the Heirloom is mainly for that contribution. I'm sure he'll clarify that in the blog shortly himself.

@12, Vox mentioned in his Darkstream on Unauthorized.TV that you will be able to purchase this also later. I expect they'll keeps stocking it in the Castalia store, at very comparable prices.

But I want to be part of the crowdfunding project. It's just more..., happening. The risk is minuscule, as Vox has so far done everything he said on all his other projects. Very reliable.

Blogger Bibliotheca Servare October 19, 2019 4:42 PM

I asked in the old threads but they're old, so understandably no one saw it. I'm prefacing because I'm pretty sure the mods (who wouldn't know the answer anyway) have seen this question twice already. Sorry guys.

Are the normal hardcovers made with acid-free paper, like the leather bound deluxe editions? I searched in case this question had already been answered, but I could only find confirmation that the leather bound editions were acid-free, archival quality paper.

I want to know because if the ordinary hardcovers aren't acid-free, I'd rather wait until I can save enough to buy the leather bound editions. God willing, I want to pass these down to my future children, and then their children, etc, so the extra expense would be well worth it.

The standard hardcovers will be for sale as with other Castalia House books. The leatherbound books must be done in fixed runs. We plan to order more than are needed to supply this campaign, a suitable excess, then sell them afterward. If there is enough demand, we can order another run.

The standard editions will be printed by Ingram, who guarantees that:

"All paper is acid free and meets all ANSI standards for archival quality paper."

I've seen tweets with links to the crowdfunding announcement. It's not any recognizable name from here. It was retweeted. It's not the button up top. It was a regular person tweeting information about the books.

So, it's popular.

I have my Dad's copies of number four and number six from when he was a boy. These are really outstanding. I always loved The Odessey, The song of Roland, and El Cid. The illustrations are really great. I'll consider finishing the set.

Blogger Sargent.matrim October 19, 2019 6:25 PM

This is awesome. I've been telling fellow homeschoolers about it. Will keep plugging it. The way do many people have supported this is so encouraging.

Good is rising again in the West.

Blogger sammibandit October 19, 2019 7:05 PM

The song of Roland

That's in the set? Cool!

Blogger Bibliotheca Servare October 19, 2019 7:19 PM

Thank you, Rex, that's fantastic. Wish I could swing the leather bound editions, but I'm glad to know that they'll still last a very long time.

Blogger Rex Leroy King October 19, 2019 8:51 PM

Homeschoolers, please do spread the news. I can't directly, because it might seem like a conflict of interest.

Blogger Bobiojimbo October 19, 2019 11:45 PM

Blogger Section 8A October 20, 2019 12:55 PM

I will spread this through all of the channels I can. As the Enstupidation of the masses continues at warp speed, there are people who want what's best for them and their children. The fact that The Poz hates this kind of thing makes it that much more satisfying.

And it's on Indiegogo.... fantastic.

Does the Set of Hardcovers ship worldwide...

Blogger Crew October 20, 2019 2:01 PM

Based on the current support and the remaining time, I expect this one to go to $250,000, if not $300,000.

There seems to be plenty of demand out there for this series.

Blogger Gregory the Great October 20, 2019 2:20 PM

Is there a place where we can bet on this?

Blogger MJ October 21, 2019 7:50 AM

Am I the only one that couldn't put in my shipping address? Or will that be done once the books actually begin to ship?

Vox Day just launched his Junior Classics line of books he's printing, and these are just... foundational texts for the life of any kid.

I'm talking Classic Stories jam packed with Western/Christian values. Nothing like the modern "Billy had Two Daddies" crap you see at Barnes and Noble. This is exactly the kind of spiritual meat they used to feed kids back in the day, before our culture went haywire.

These stories that have been either diluted or disappearing for a long time now. And now they're going to be reprinted for the first time in DECADES, and done so beautifully, so you can pass them down for generations to come.
