Someone should explain to the Dolphins that there is this thing called "defense" they can use to keep their opponents from marching down the field.

Broncos and Bears are losing bad, is anyone even surprised?

Blogger Manuel December 15, 2019 4:20 PM

Bears made a game of it at the end.

Blogger NewTunesForOldLogos December 15, 2019 4:26 PM

Bears would’ve looked like geniuses if they’d pulled off that after the buzzer trick play.

Blogger bodenlose Schweinerei December 15, 2019 4:34 PM

What sort of spoilsport would wish to fiddle with the rules so as to deny us the beautiful disaster that is the NFC East? The Eagles were in mortal danger against the craptastic Redskins right up to the end. Will Dallas offer up the same?

Blogger Goodnight December 15, 2019 4:44 PM

No kidding. I've been a Cowboys fan since the Staubach days and even the early 2000s mess wasn't as big of a shot show as what's happening with them now. And who could've imagined a 6-7 team would be in the running for the division.

No. They will fall behind early, put up some points in the second half, and be unable to produce (offense and defense) at the end of the game. They will perform worse than the Eagles.

Looking for the Niners to not stumble into the playoffs. Good challenge for the team and coaches to focus today and next week. Defense could shut out Falcons today.

Blogger Mad Italian December 15, 2019 5:20 PM

Niner passing game seems off. And this is against a defense that's having problems with the pass. Shanahan over thinking it?

Blogger Mad Italian December 15, 2019 5:24 PM

@Goodnight not sure what's more frustrating going 1-15 (Landrys last year) with a crappy team or going 8-8 with a team that on paper should be doing much better.

Blogger Mad Italian December 15, 2019 5:51 PM

Ouch. 10-10 is not where the Niners need to be at half time. And it could have been worse.

Blogger James Lovebirch December 15, 2019 5:59 PM

@5 Those are the first place Eagles to you, bub.

Blogger Poco December 15, 2019 6:37 PM

3-13 in Landry's final year. 1-15 in Jimmy Johnson's first year.

Blogger Gettimothy December 15, 2019 7:26 PM

bucs at .500. very pleased. hoping for a winning season. I like this new coach.

Blogger Pax_Romana December 15, 2019 7:44 PM

....wait. The Niners lost to the Falcons? I only casually watched on the NFL website's ticker....how on earth did the Niners lose to the Falcons? Boy, good week to be a Seahawks fan!

Blogger Dos Voltz December 15, 2019 7:47 PM

I live in northern Kentucky near Cincy so I went to the Bengals v Patriots game. Only tickets I hav bought in 20 years. I have struggled as a fan for 50 years with the Bengals. Job's patience here. Meh. What can ya do? Hometown stuff.

I bought tickets however solely because I like to see excellence and I wanted to see Brady play before he retires.

Good, competitive first half. But Bengals had 5 secs before end of first half and coulda done a Hail Mary. It's the freakin' Patriots! But no. They took a knee. I know it's a very small chance but this is typical Bengals. Everyone around me in orange was hoping for a big play. I said nothing but thought "nah, they'll take a knee and go to the locker room like it's a college safe space." Surrender is always signaled early here in Mudville.

So yeah, second half was a disaster for Cincy.

Interesting though, as an aside, the lower bowl was mostly sold out. People chanting "Brady! Brady!" at Paul Brown Stadium. In Cincinnati. Seemed like many had the same idea I had.

We know ours is a lost cause, but was entertaining in first half and cringeworthy in 2nd. But I got to see Tom Brady play. Dude deserves massive props. Even with balls 2 lbs under pressure.

Blogger Mad Italian December 15, 2019 7:48 PM

And that was a horrid game. Niners played down to a mediocre team.

Blogger jeffinjapan December 15, 2019 7:48 PM

So glad the Niners lost. If the Saints and Seahawks win out and the Packers lose to the Vikings next week(or after) the Saints get the #1 seed.

Blogger Apathy Is Death December 15, 2019 7:53 PM

Wow. Rough way for the Niners to go down. Atlanta's defense has been strong of late.

Blogger Rough Carrigan December 15, 2019 7:54 PM

Bill Belichick wouldn't put together a roster of the particular composition of the Cowboys' roster. But if you put him in charge of it they sure as hell would have a better record than 7-7.

I'm hoping for a Dallas or Philly division winner to end up with an 8-8 record.

unrelated, but on the supposed "alliance" between nazi germany and islam

With the 49ers losing this week, the Seahawks look like they're going to top the division.

Blogger Haxo Angmark December 15, 2019 8:16 PM

another exciting day of National Black Felons' League monkeyball,

with teams owned by racketering Jew billionaires,

and fat-assed White MAGApedes sitting in the seats.

Blogger Goodnight December 15, 2019 8:24 PM

Yeah, it really is to me. I remember the late Landry/early Johnson days and nobody expected squat back then. But stat-wise the Cowboys are supposed to have possibly the best offense in the league and a top 10 defense, yet here they are at 7-7. Jerryworld is always crazy but I don't even have the words for them this year.

I defer to Jimmy Johnson's philosophy on that. He maintained that it was better to the worst team in the league in the process of trying to get better than an 8-8 team mired in mediocrity.

8-8 is really the worst since you likely don't make the playoffs most years, and you don't get a good draft pick based upon you win/loss record.

A couple of bad years will net good draft picks, and a bad team that starts to gain confidence in themselves are hungrier than most other types of teams.

@23 football and baseball will still be our game long after this war is won.

Blogger Gettimothy December 16, 2019 6:34 AM

Got to watch the highlights yesterday after my long day at the factory job and here are some thoughts on the matter.

I watched Tony Dungy and McKay build a franchise. Tony was of those men of who it is written, (paraphrasing from memory here) "One Godly man can transform a city".

The turning piint that brought the team together was a film of pre practice stretching. Dungy demanded the team treat all phases of the game as important.

The bucs where a positive moral example and , while we loudly lamented Dungy's incapacity to play offense, we loved them and him.

We watched Gruden trade that for "glitz". You knew the era was over when Martin Grammatica became demoralized.

I have been waiting for another builder , watching for that spark of "coaching", the men who do the hard work of building. A good sign is Arians instilling in the team the "everytime!" ethic.

That's what builds exciting football teams and amazing games.

I hope I am right

Blogger Iron Spartan December 16, 2019 9:19 AM

SKOL!

That was a beat down and a morale booster. Now the Vikings need to get ready for Green Bay and not get cocky going into the game.

Blogger Dan in Georgia December 16, 2019 9:45 AM

Just leave it to the Falcons to blow their chance at having the #1 pick in the draft! Just kidding. Glad to see them turning things around.

Blogger Dad29 December 16, 2019 10:52 AM

Bears made a game of it at the end.

Wrong. Packers did all they could to hand it to the Bears.

Pack season highlights will be remembered as The Ugliest 12 Wins Evah!!!!

Viqueens game Vegas line should be very interesting.
