It's not the "mental health"

These people are, as we are told, sick. But it's not the mental health of Hollywood, but rather the complete lack of moral health, that is at the root of the problem.
As a seeming epidemic of suicides pummel the entertainment world, leaders and companies are responding with innovative answers to help erase the stigma around mental illness and provide help: "I've seen the pain and devastation it causes."

In January 2017, 51-year-old U.K.-based locations manager Michael Harm —whose credits included the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise — took his own life in a London hotel room. Shortly before, Harm sent a note to a friend in the industry describing his work as "one of the loneliest jobs on a film," one that came with "no HR," and urged more care on film sets.

In the three years since, a tragic procession of suicides have shaken the film, television and music industries, including those of host and chef Anthony Bourdain, manager Jill Messick, comic Brody Stevens, Soundgarden's Chris Cornell, Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington, The Prodigy frontman Keith Flint and DJ Avicii. This year opened with news that Ugly Betty creator Silvio Horta, 45, had taken his own life.
It will not surprise me to learn that less than half of these "suicides" actually involved the individual taking his own life. We're already well past the point of statistical improbability.

Their response demonstrates a large part of the problem: there's always some "stigma" involved. It's not their fault or anything they're doing, it just that people being so "judgemental" preventing all the problems from being solved. Homos, trannies, pedos, all these wonderful people aren't really troubled, it's them damn "stigmas" what are keeping them down.

agree.

There absolutely is a mental health issue in the US... and there has been ever since we shut down the mental institutions in the 70s based on lies from the left (no kids... that's not a new tactic).

But that mental health issue has nothing to do with Hollywood. That's just plain ol' evil.

Blogger Randomatos January 15, 2020 4:28 PM

Ding ding ding! Especially the pedos. Hollywood is sicker than most people think.

Blogger Nate January 15, 2020 4:28 PM

I look at movies like No Country for Old Men... yes its nihilistic... but the depiction of evil in the movie is excellent... and I believe that is because Hollywood understands evil. very much.

Blogger Weak January 15, 2020 4:35 PM

The circumstances around Cornell and Bennington's deaths indicate a 0% chance of suicide.

Never seen nor heard of one of the crazy street people offing themselves, if you don't count the occasional OD as suicide. My guess is that the crazy isn't causing the suicides, it's the evil, as VD says.

It's amazing how a place infested with people whose religion gives them a strict list of rules by which to live is also completely morally bankrupt. It's almost as if those rules were given to them to show that they cannot ever be perfect and need some other form of redemption.
If only Someone had told them that...

Blogger MagnusStout January 15, 2020 5:13 PM

Excellent post. Always remember that we are the “salt and light” of the world. As Jesse Lee Peterson would ask his guests: “ Do you have perfect peace?”

Embracing darkness exacts a terrible cost... The Evil One tricks many by thinking that “good is boring.” This is a perfect inversion: always serving yourself is boring & unsatisfying. Doing good nurtures the soul. We’re all “made in God’s image.”

Choose wisely.

Blogger Joe Smith January 15, 2020 5:16 PM

That’s a good point: it’s a moral health problem, not a mental health problem. The two are different.

Aside from edited presentation, Bourdain did not come across as a spiraler. More like someone that was about to be a chink in the armor. He was beginning to work truth into his show in a way it had previously avoided. Slight, but there. As someone who had begun to realize the pit has no bottom, and wanted something better. And one that had gone far enough down to know names and dates, in addition to the danger of his particular variety of charisma. Have nothing to compare the others to.

The vast majority of what would be considered mental health disorders stem from poor childhoods and/or trauma. Thanks, once again, to the Boomers who raised these generations.

The above does exclude the legitimate crazies out there.

Birdbox is a movie where an unknown "thing" causes people to commit suicide if they see it. Rednecks and other terrible people Hollywood doesn't like when looking at it they do not commit suicide but instead become obsessed with making other people look at it.

If you replace the "unknown thing" with truth/reality the movie takes on a whole new meaning. Another instance of Hollywood showing their hand.

CDAN claims that both Bennington and Chris Cornell were victims of sexual abuse as children. And when they encountered the movers and shakers of the celebrity death cult, they started to use their new and sizable resources to look into pizza related issues. And they had to be suicided.

I suggest you read The Myth of Mental Illness by Thomas Szasz. The Rosenhan experiment also comes to mind. The only stigma I see is being labeled crazy for questioning Psychiatry and the rest of the Mental Health Complex. Because remeber folks only crazy people don't trust Doctors of the State.

The simple fact that no Psychiatrist can produce a patient that has been diagnosed as Not Having A Mental Illness Disorder is telling. The patient is either dignosed/labeled/billed as having an Unspecified Mental Health Disorder, Adjustment Disorder, or Unspecified Adjustment Disorder. Theres even a Sub-Symptom Syndrome Disorder. Theres nothing wrong with the patient, but they have a Disorder. If any other field of Medicine used this logic theyd be viewed as Quacks.

Blogger Unknown January 15, 2020 7:00 PM

The writer's view of HR is unrealistic...HR exists to protect the company from employees and is typically staffed by actual bullies. No one of any production value wants to work in the field.

Blogger RedJack January 15, 2020 8:34 PM

The line about HR made me laugh.

HR has its uses, but the thing EVERY employee needs to understand is HR IS NOT YOUR FRIEND. If someone goes to HR about mental issues, the manager gets a quick call. If the risk to the company is high enough an immediate exit plan for the employee is implemented. The concern is not the employee, but the damage they might do the business.

The fastest bounce out I saw was 15 minutes from a guy saying he was having thoughts of suicide to sitting outside the fence with his immediate effects.

Blogger RedJack January 15, 2020 8:37 PM

@21
I was told once "Red, you have a mental illness! You believe in absolute truths!"

I tried to talk about the underlining philosophy of Truth, but the gal was convinced I was evil.

She later dumped her husband for drug addict she was counseling. Another data point in my theory that all shrinks get into the field to figure out what is wrong with them.

Blogger Jamie-R January 15, 2020 9:15 PM

They definitely target either the person or close family members. I won't be surprised to find out Don Trump Jnr, after the anthrax scare on his wife, was advised and they separated and he was appointed a professional handler gf that has been working as one for a long time.

Blogger Johnny January 15, 2020 10:29 PM

@21

Just to point something out. The slippery word is Disorder. It used to be that a patient had to have one of these scary shrink words wrong with them. Paranoid, delusions, hallucinations, catatonic, and so on. Most of them had real symptoms. Not much of a student of this stuff, but I think schizophrenia was always a kind of sweeping vagary. In the same way they need a charge to keep you in a jail, they needed to allege some mental illness to keep somebody in a mental hospital. Probable paranoid-schizoid or whatever. Often a kind of throw away diagnosis. Something to put down on the paper.

They don't incarcerate people so much now, and the new word for the above is the word disorder. All it really means is that at least some of your behavior is unsound, and unsound gets mixed with disapproved of with great ease. With considerable frequency it comes down to: we don't like how you act. Frequently a covert moral judgment.

Blogger vmax71 January 15, 2020 10:31 PM

I 100% agree with the "separation" for POTUS' son......It makes no sense that they would separate otherwise. 100% upvote for you Jamie. I have been telling my wife this for the last year

My mom had a similar observation in nursing school. According to her, all of her classmates who went into psych nursing were "off" in some way or another (even under only casual observation), and were looking for answers for their own problems.

It also explains why every shrink has his own shrink.

For the same reason evil women aren't insane, crazy or mentally ill. evil women are evil.

In taking away human agency from women. Many women who commit murder didn't get their deserved execution for bloodshed.

Perhaps much of "mental illness" is simply wickedness or the result of wickedness.

This "boring" virtuous lifestyle is the foundation on which the best adventures occur.

In more morally "boring" times there was the exploration age with men like Columbus we were dreaming of space exploration landed on the moon while said energy lasted and discoveries were coming in hot.

Cultural production was of higher quality and we were doing many amazing things with society.

In said "boring" times architecture was actually beautiful like Art Deco.

I believe in the New Heavens and Earth not only will the New Jerusalem and the New Creation would be of unparalleled beauty surpassing the current universe by magnitudes and without blemish.

We will be doing far more exciting and adventurous things than we are doing now.

Controversial opinion: I believe God works miracles and speaks to those who love Him in our generation. And yet, anyone who claims to experience the above is decisively condemned and shunned by secular society as a mentally unhealthy individual. A secular sinner.

At the most it was 15 minutes from the time a coworker came in and told us about having to shoot a trespasser and being escorted out of the building. It was a legal shooting and this is Texas but they obviously didn't like the liability.

"My mom had a similar observation in nursing school. According to her, all of her classmates who went into psych nursing were "off" in some way or another (even under only casual observation), and were looking for answers for their own problems."

They're "off" because they're addicts. Almost every person I've known in the medical field entered the field for access to drugs.

The religion of the scribes and the pharisees isn't a strict set of rules to live by: is a hodge-podge of legal chicanery whose entire purpose is to provide excuses for not obeying God. You think the bible says you aren't supposed to work on the Sabbath? Well, it kinda does say that. But provided that you do this, and that, and say these "prayers" (incantations, more like), and wear your hat backwards, well then hey presto! Legally it's totally ok, and all Jehovah can do about it is say "Shucks, didn't think of that when I wrote the rules!"

Jesus condemned it every time he had occasion to do.

Before the WWII in psychiatric hospitals in Poland the long time patients were old whores.
After the war they were pushed into to second place by the retired commie policemen.
The mental illness is the result, not the cause.

Blogger Ron Tomlinson January 16, 2020 7:37 AM

They blame society's lack of acceptance for their 'mental illness'. They lobby for greater understanding and acceptance so they feel normal again.

But here's the complication: their very *perception* of disapproval in others is a manifestation of a guilty conscience. Thus society is forced to choose between the extremes of keeping them in the closet or turning itself into one enormous pride parade.

Blogger kmbr January 16, 2020 8:17 AM

To paint an even more clear picture, you have to include the massive amount of them slowly (or not so slowly) killing themselves with self destructive behavior and habits-mostly drugs.

Blogger God Emperor Memes January 16, 2020 9:00 AM

"

I suggest you're an apsie. Shut up. Stop thinking in a binary way. As always it is not either or is both and. Yes there are tons of made up diagnosis used to justify insurance payments to frauds... not to mention the massive need to label everything a disorder so we can justify the voracious desire of the big pharm to medicate everyone all the time. Those things are true.

What also is true... is there are legitimately crazy fucking people who cannot exist and function in the world. They need to be institutionalized. We never had a homeless problem in the US until we created it by throwing everyone out of the loony bins.

We need to drug people a lot less. And we need to bring back the loony bins.

Blogger YehudaL January 16, 2020 10:25 AM

@Paul M. You've got it entirely bass ackwards. The "hodgepodge" you mentioned adds 36 restrictions regarding what's permissible on sabbath, above the 3 specifically mentioned in the bible.

But all that's besides the point @God Emperor Memes, cuz them people don't care about those rules at all in the first place.

That's why they are what they are and do what they do.

Blogger Tars Tarkas January 16, 2020 10:51 AM

Mental Health and its "treatment," is the biggest scam in medicine. They do little if anything to "help" the truly sick, like Schizophrenics and other people who have hallucinations, while endlessly "treating" those who appear perfectly normal.
If you visit 5 different shrinks, you'll get 5 different opinions. We need to bring back state hospitals and put the truly broken people in them and then do away with most of the rest of the "mental health" industry.

Blogger Michelle Obama's Left Nut January 17, 2020 9:15 AM

At least in the U.S., a bulk of the roughly 130 suicides a day are performed by white Gen-X men. I'm certain it has nothing to do with they being sold on a Boomer worldview that has turned out to be rotten and satanic. Mental health and worldview are linked.

Blogger Akulkis January 17, 2020 3:58 PM

It has more to do with growning up in a worldview of the WW2 & Silent generations, and then being sold out by Boomers.

To not have had any knee injuries is a huge benefit. I tore my first ACL in my ninth grade football season, skipped tenth grade then played out my high school career at tight end. I never was as quick off the ball or in running routes as I had been. Fast forward twenty three years to last October, and I tore my other ACL in a simple game of pick-up basketball. Now I have both knees with a very high likelihood of Osteoarthritis to look forward to.

Is it worth what I gained in work ethic and as a teammate? I think so, but it’s hard to be useful when your joints are grinding themselves to a pulp.
