They struck at the king

And now they are rightfully paying the price:
Exacting swift punishment against those who crossed him, an emboldened President Donald Trump ousted two government officials who had delivered damaging testimony against him during his impeachment hearings. The president took retribution just two days after his acquittal by the Senate.

First came news Friday that Trump had ousted Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, the decorated soldier and national security aide who played a central role in the Democrats’ impeachment case. Vindman’s lawyer said his client was escorted out of the White House complex Friday, told to leave in retaliation for “telling the truth.”

“The truth has cost Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman his job, his career, and his privacy,” attorney David Pressman said in a statement. Vindman’s twin brother, Lt. Col. Yevgeny Vindman, also was asked to leave his job as a White House lawyer on Friday, the Army said in a statement. Both men were reassigned to the Army.

Next came word that Gordon Sondland, Trump’s ambassador to the European Union, also was out.

“I was advised today that the President intends to recall me effective immediately as United States Ambassador to the European Union,” Sondland said in a statement.
It's not "swift punishment", it is swift justice. And let there be considerably more of it soon!

I really wanted him to start doing this back in January of '17. He could have begun by firing everyone appointed by 0bammy, for example. That's pretty much SOP for a new administration, anyway.

Blogger Rough Carrigan February 08, 2020 9:25 PM

They also had a complete misconception of the nature of their jobs and their power in decision making relative to their elected superior. They had the complete lack of awareness to testify under oath that they were offended that their elected superior did not feel he had to follow their dimwitted counsel.

Blogger J Van Stry February 08, 2020 9:35 PM

I'm waiting for Vindman to be courts martialed. He broke several laws that the UCMJ is quite clear on. The man needs to do some jail time. Lying about a superior officer, spreading classified information. Giving false testimony. All of those are serious crimes with jail time.

Blogger Terrific February 08, 2020 9:41 PM

Sorry, guys. The LAST thing it was, was SWIFT.

Trump has had for too long, and STILL has, too many spies, Fifth Columnists, Deep State conspirators, democrats, deceivers, betrayers, leakers, finks, quislings, and traducers, not only in his administration, but in the White House itself! WTF were these two paper Americans, the Vindman Twins (twins? really?) doing in the White House in the first place?

We hired Trump to be as ruthless at firing the incompetent as he presented himself to be on "The Apprentice". With that image at least, he mislead us.

Let's hope he's learned his lesson.

We have lots of people already doing that.

Instead, Lt Col Vindman should be reassigned to finding out what's going on with those "First Nations" groups from Hudson ban to Alaskan border and the Arctic Sea coast.

Of course, since those tribes use very little radio communications, Lt. Col. will need to develop and test new, innovative ways to penetrate these domes of silence, while, of course, keeping his surveillance activities outside the awareness of his target populations.

As every officer who is any good complains of being tied to a desk, this should give LTC Vindman some ample opportunity to get some fresh air.... and fresh snow.. Lots and lots and lots of fresh snow.

Dress warmly, LTC.

Blogger Emmanuel February 08, 2020 11:42 PM

To all the people who don't think Mr. President knew and was only waiting for the opportune time to strike, you're beyond helping and should stay quiet and actuallt exercise some of that high time preference you claim to have, because I'll tell you straight up: you're going to be left waiting until after the election to see The God Emperor truly unleashed, so when that happens, know it wasn't out of the blue, he didnt suddenly wise up as though he wasn't already wise. This was planned since at least the 2016 victory. You can't dismantle the deep state in America and in the globe proper in just 4 years if your goal is not a war in the streets and the maintaining of the territorial and cultural integrity of America, particularly one you have a shot at losing with the even split in the last election. You need time. Time to make the truly abominable side show their abominableness to even the most die-hard of fence sitters. Time to set up people in the government loyal to the cause who will actually carry out orders against the enemy when given them rather than ignore them at worst or actively coup him at best. Ones that will trip over themselves to start new crimes to try and get him out of office that fail because they're so rushed its like they're plots I wrote. And that takes time. As well as quite a bit of secrecy. Incredible time and secrecy. And it certainly doesn't help that most outlets you hear things have a vested interest in lying or omitting the truth of what Mr. President has done, so kindly, shut up and enjoy the show. Because it's only going to ratchet up from here, and likely at a pace you're not prepared for, especially if you're invested in the soon to be defunct fiat currency system and aren't prepared for sound money. Because that's really the big enchilada Me. President is after, reform of our financial system by taking out the central baking hydra, which he is going to do once he doesn't have to worry about reelection and can attack people and pull teeth ad much as he wants.

Now, I am not an expert in such things, but I do have family in the .gov. They have said Trump did not violate the laws, yet, but that if the two brothers bring it up in arbitration the judge may rule that Trump has to take them back.

Dates back to reforms U.S. Grant made, and then updates after Nixon. The goal is to have civil servants be totally protected from any outside interference.

I am sure Vindman has already started receiving just rewards. Trump tweeted about a bad report, so I am assuming Trump was talking about the annual FITREP every officer gets. A bad FITREP guarantees that Vindman never makes full Colonel. He will drive a desk at the Pentagon until he retires.

I retired from the Navy in 2014. I do not disagree with your point. I don't think it will be 50/50 on the enlisted side, though, I think it will more likely be a small group, maybe 20% that resists, but they will be removed or otherwise contained, and the rest of them, the unsure middle, will take their cues from the hard core "follow orders" crowd, and that will be that.

Blogger Akulkis February 10, 2020 2:08 AM

Just hit 30 years of service here. LTC Vindman should be:

1) Tried and convicted for various UCMJ offenses.
Since he was ADVISING Ukrainian officials as to how to counter Trump's personal envoy, Giuliani, a good case can be made for putting Treason on that list.

If he is not executed by hanging (even spies get the relative honor of a firingvsquad rather than the disgrace of hanging) followrd by gibbeting his head in front of the White House or on Capitol Hill, and gibbeting his 4 limbs, one each in Maine, Florida, the California (LA or the a bordet crossing with Mexico) and Washington (Seattle would be good). All of this should be read to him at his sentencing, so that he knows his punishment on Earth will continue for years after his execution.

2) If no execution, then:

2A) Stripped of Rank to E-1, all decorations and pension.

2B) Sentenced to several years as a resident at Disciplinary Barracks, Fort Leavenworth.

2C) Dishonorably discharged, making him ineligible for any VA services.

2D) Stripped of his naturalization to U.S. citizen, with confiscation of naturalization and U.S. passport(s) -- both red and blue.

2E) Deported back to Ukraine.

This man makes Benedict Arnold a mere piker.

Blogger CarpeOro February 10, 2020 9:46 AM

I am not sure people understand the nature of security clearances in general here. Just because you have a particular clearance level doesn't mean you have access to all docs of that level or lower. Clearance is more a mater on whether you may be granted access to data at that level. It is on a "need to know" basis according to your position. If you are removed from a position where you have that need in order to do your job, you aren't supposed to be given access to it unless you can prove (or your commanding officer, who has the need) the need. If assigned to the Med or Pacific, you wouldn't be getting access to Atlantic intelligence without proving need in the Navy.

Other Josh wrote:I don't know if being fire automatically removes granted security clearances...
I believe it does for the little people.

Blogger Akulkis February 11, 2020 5:36 PM

In and of itself, having a clearance does nothing.

If you're fired from a job in which you need a clearance, and you don't have a NEW clearance-requiring job, then you litterally don't get to see anything, because you no longer have any need to know.

Vindman, on the other hand, should have his clearance revoked, because he committed espionage (advising the Ukrainians on specifically how to parry the negotiation strategies of Trump's personal envoy).
